AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Existing operating stick assemblies in input devices constrain rotation, leading to reduced precision and operability over time due to consumption of applied force by rotation, rather than intended tilting movements.
Method used
An operating stick assembly with a supporting structure that constrains rotation using engaging and engaged portions, coupled with a non-contact tilting operation sensor to detect precise tilting movements, enhancing detection precision and operability.
Benefits of technology
The solution allows for high-precision detection of tilting movements and prevents force consumption by rotation, thereby improving the operability and longevity of the operating stick.

Abstract
Problem: To provide an operating stick assembly that can detect movement of an operating stick with high precision even under prolonged use, and that can improve operability of the operating stick by constraining rotation of the operating stick. Means for solving: An operating stick assembly 100 comprises a supporting portion 31 that has an inner surface 31c that surrounds an outer surface of a supported portion 21a of an operating stick 20, and a tilting operation sensor 14a that outputs a signal in response to movement of a sensed portion 29a due to tilting of the operating stick 20. The outer surface of the supported portion 21a is curved along a spherical surface centered on a point (Cp) located on an axis Ax1 of the operating stick 20. An engaging portion 21c is formed on the outer surface of the supported portion 21a. An engaged portion 31d is formed on the inner surface of the supporting portion 31. The engaging portion 21c engages with the engaged portion 31d.
