Achieving efficient population inversion in a cold atom active optical clock through a cascaded pump configuration solves the problems of energy level competition and low population inversion rate, improves frequency stability and reduces dependence on cold atom density, and realizes a miniaturized and highly stable active optical clock.

本发明公开了一种基于级联泵浦的冷原子主动光钟及其实现方法。冷原子主动光钟包括冷却光激光器,用于输出目标波长的激光并进行频率调节后得到冷却光;重泵光激光器,用于输出目标波长的重泵光与冷却光合束后送入光学谐振腔内的冷原子制备区域,用于冷原子团的制备与维持;泵浦激光器,用于输出第二级泵浦光与冷原子团发生作用;其中,冷原子团中的原子具有四能级结构:基态、第一激发态、第二激发态和第三激发态;所述冷却光同时作为第一级泵浦光将所述冷原子团中处于基态的原子激发至第一激发态;所述第二级泵浦激光将原子由第一激发态进一步激发至第二激发态,在第二激发态与第三激发态之间形成粒子数反转,通过受激辐射产生主动光钟激光。
