Abstract
Description
Field of the InventionThe present application relates to software development systems and, more particularly, to a CI system for automated testing for use in agile environments. An integrated solution, including automated testing, seamless provisioning, and continuous feedback, provides agile development teams with the ability to control the quality of the software in each step of the lifecycle. This system is best suited for more adaptive and semi-linear projects, especially software projects that require regular releases with better quality and acceptance viewing, because it provides a rather clear schedule for presenting progress and deadlines of approval.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONAge software development techniques known for iterative progress, rapid feedback, and continuous improvement place great value on things such as software testing and continuous integration. As software systems are being developed day-to-day, manual testing can no longer provide faster results with consistently high quality. Automated software testing and continuous integration (CI) systems have become important tools to verify whether code changes are functioning, detect errors early, and integrate new functions with less or no conflicts. However, these solutions are usually rigid and do not offer the full flexibility for different age practices or they cannot be fully incorporated into other software development pipelining tools. This invention overcomes these deficiencies by providing an automated test and continuous integration system wherein the test / continuous integration braid is specifically designed for agility with respect to high flexibility / adaptability. The field of software development changes in recent years, more and more agile methods are being adopted. By focusing on flexibility, fast iteration, and the ability to adapt as reality throws you out of the way, development teams can use all the core points of agile practices to create software that satisfies the user requirements, even though these requirements change. However, this faster tempo requires automated tests and continuous integration systems to avoid loss of quality through speed. The best way to achieve this is by automated testing and continuous integration, which allows designers to quickly obtain adequate feedback if problems are detected, which is important when we have extremely tight deadlines. Although the above requirements are met by many existing solutions, they are most likely to suffer from incompatibility with numerous other development tools, lack of adaptability to new SDK versions and under load dips.Conventional software tests are based on manual methods in which testers manually execute test cases in order to check the results and record errors. Although manual tests are flexible and performed by humans, they can take more time than other processes and errors contain. Automated Tests Manual Tests are by far less as repeatable as manual inspection and this lack of repeatability becomes problematic in continuous integration because designers must test the software each time a new version appears. This limitation resulted in the creation of many automated test frameworks that help to perform test cases without human intervention. Some examples are selenium for web applications and J Unit for Java-based systems. These frameworks may perform predefined test cases, log results, and generate reports. However, they are normally set up and maintained in detail, which becomes even more complicated as software projects grow over time. For example, during automated testing, differences are detected between the current tested build and future build, although the same tests must be encoded taking into account these changes when they occur.CI systems have been developed to solve the problem of merging changes made by different developers into a common code base.Developers add their code several times a day (in a typical CI environment) to a central repository. A CI server then automatically creates and tests the software and notifies developers when problems occur. Jenkins, Circle CI, and Trail CI are leading examples that provide functions for creating, testing, and providing. They are core elements of the modern software development pipeline today and make it possible for teams to detect integration errors at an early stage and to maintain a healthy code basis. However, conventional CI tools are limited to an age world in which changes must occur too frequently and be adaptable. Most CI tools typically rely on hard workflows that cannot be easily adapted to various types of agile practices such as crumb prints or kanban flow. Moreover, not all CI tools provide good solutions for managing dependencies between different test cases, which may result in inefficiencies and false alarms during the test.Integration with version control, issue tracker and provisioning: Continuous integration is not a single tool in software development. Rather, it interacts with 3-4 further tools, which have to be integrated well. However, designers must establish each integration individually, which is very cumbersome and prone to errors. Moreover, when they use tools of a plurality of different vendors together, compatibility conflicts sometimes occur, which inevitably slow things down and result in higher maintenance costs. The problem is also exacerbated in large organizations where different teams may use certain tools due to their needs or personal preferences. This complicates the establishment of a consistent design pipeline that includes automated testing and continuous integration across multiple projects or teams.Another major drawback is the lack of scalability of current automated test and CI systems. Most of these tools have later been developed for small to medium sized projects, further limiting their use in large systems. A typical example would be a large application during execution of a large test suite with multiple environments, as this could require many resources (e.g., by performing multiple parallel tests between the individual environments). Although this appears as a complete solution, many CI tools allow execution in parallel across multiple instances / containers. Even taking resource allocation into account, this can result in performance bottleneckes, as several test jobs must fight around the available resources. Moreover, the test cases in the software systems may increase exponentially, making it difficult to ensure that all tests are performed within an appropriate time. The lack of this type of data can be extremely problematic in agile environments where fast errors of the keys to speed are.Support for container environments Conventional automated test systems have also had problems, as we have seen above, of functioning in container environments. With containers, developers can create a consistent environment for testing that reduces the likelihood of build errors or situations where errors could only reproduce due to dependencies. However, most CI tools provide minimal support for container environments, so many developers either need to use custom scripts or otherwise adapt other tools to manage containers in their CI pipeline. This leads to complexity and lower reliability in the test phase, since developers now have to work with a plurality of tools and workflows. In addition to the technical challenges, it is often also difficult for existing automated test and CI solutions to provide usable feedback to developers. Although such systems generate protocols and reports, the data typically contains too little information for easy trouble diagnosis. For example, for a log file with hundreds of lines that fails a test, one must search for the root cause for hours, waste its entire productive time. Most CI tools are generally poor in aggregating test results or identifying temporal patterns. This makes it difficult for teams to recognize problem patterns and keep track of how far they have come to achieve code quality.A further disadvantage of conventional automated test and CI tools is the written test cases. The tests are defined in a script containing the inputs and the expected outputs of these raw values. This method works well, however, if you wish to validate the expected scenario, but is less effective if you seek problems in unknown cases or edge cases. Scripted tests can be used quite quickly, especially in agile environments where requirements and designs change frequently. Developers must always keep test scripts up to date as to new functions or changes in the application, and this can be very time consuming and prone to errors. Moreover, since these tests are written, they have very little flexibility in detecting UX / fault / performance issues that may occur and do not necessarily result from the predefined inputs and outputs. And not least, security is always being taken into consideration, as we use more and more automation tests based on CI systems. Most tools require access to secure data such as source code, configuration files, and login information. An attacker who compromised the CI server could read or change this information to access leaked login information and use it against other resources via her network. Although most CI tools provide basic access controls and encryption, these are often not sufficient given extensive intrusion. Moreover, most CI tools do not have compliance mappings that support rules such as the DSGVO or HIPAA that must be observed by regulated industries.Although current automated test and CI solutions have enabled great advances in software development, they are not without shortcomings. Frequently, however, such tools are too inflexible or lack the necessary scalability and integration with other tools to meet the specific requirements of an agile environment. Moreover, most CI systems do not work well with container environments and are often very limited in the type of feedback they can provide downstream. This seriously impairs its effectiveness in checking software quality during its lifetime. Security and compliance may also be difficult because these tools must access confidential data but do not always sufficiently protect against the latest threats. The elimination of these constraints is necessary in order for age teams working on a product to be able to deliver the high quality code quickly and more efficiently.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention is a system for automated software testing and continuous integration in an agile environment. It can be integrated into different parts of the software life cycle and immediately offers ready-to-use automation from code validation to provision. The invention includes a test engine that detects changes in code, performs corresponding test suites, and generates detailed test result reports. A continuous integration server for creating and providing new versions of the software that thoroughly tests code changes before they are integrated. The architecture of the system is modular to support a variety of agile approaches such as Crumb and Kanban. Provide real-time feedback to developers to quickly identify and remedy problems. Moreover, the other key features of this invention are compatible with multiple programming languages and software frameworks. It allows containerization for better isolation of its test environments and subsequent parallel testing of multiple configurations. It also synchronizes itself with project management and version control systems, so that code changes are automatically logged in order that the correct persons can check them. This invention is particularly useful for age teams because it reduces manual testing effort, speeds up development cycles, and improves the quality of software releases. The primary object of the present invention is to provide a system that improves automated software testing and continuous integration for age development, in which the developers can exercise control. One of the main descriptions is to provide a highly configurable system compatible with many agile practices (such as Srum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming) to accompany fast quality-compensated development cycles. One of the goals is to speed up and make more reliable software tests by automatically selecting, executing and reporting test cases. The code changes are checked automatically, which means that this automation always checks the content and this can be recognized by a developer at a very early development stage. To this end, the invention provides proven support in container environments with isolated and parallel testing in various configurations. This function solves the challenge of ensuring environmental consistency, and if not used, environmental problems may arise that may make our buildings more vulnerable. The system uses containerization so that it can easily manage test resources, resulting in less performance bottleneck and provides scalability for large projects in which software complexity tests are performed. The invention also aims to improve on existing continuous integration systems by providing a modular architecture that can be integrated into the most common tools in the software development pipeline, such as version control systems, issue trackers and provisioning tools. This modularity simplifies the setup and configuration process, and You can adjust their web pack build based on project specific requirements. Another object is to improve the reporting mechanism which provides immediate, implementable feedback on its test results and code quality. In this case, data from a plurality of test levels are aggregated and displayed in an easily readable format, so that they can quickly identify causes and problems. Finally, the invention is intended to improve security and compliance throughout the continuous integration process by adding sophisticated access controls, encryption and support for regulatory standards. This is especially important for companies in highly regulated industries, as data security and management are more important than before. In short, the present invention enables modern age development teams to utilize continuous high speed testing and validation functions throughout the software life cycle, thus eliminating the limitations of existing automated test or CI solutions.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGUREThese and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become more fully understood when the following detailed description is read with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which like numerals represent like parts throughout. The test engine is the heart of the system and uses a very advanced submodule for dependency analysis. A second part of this submodule uses an algorithm to automatically check where changes in code parts can be returned to one or more test routines by evaluating the interdependency between software modules. When the system detects new code changes, the selection of test cases is based on details imported from a dependency analysis algorithm using the components and types of changes involved. The selective testing method ensures that the least number of tests are performed and also less test time and resource consumption are required without compromising coverage, yet still maintaining accuracy. The continuous integration server (directly connected to the test engine) uses a build automation unit with a continuous deployment algorithm. This algorithm proceeds through predefined steps: first, it compiles the source code, then packages are created on the created files that are ready for provision. The provisioning sequence is automatically started as soon as the test engine has checked that all code changes have passed the tests. The provisioning algorithm also guarantees the secure transfer to staging and output perspective production by compliance with predefined provisioning strategies (e.g., blue green, canary release, or rolling updates) based on user configurations. If errors occur during the build or staging phase, it initiates a rollback process and returns the systems to their last stable state, which helps maintain system integrity and reduce possible downtime. In the containerization module, an algorithm for resource planning and orchestration is used to efficiently manage the life cycle of a fuselage. This is the algorithm which, in operation, establishes test isolation by containers and massively parallelizes containers over a series of computer nodes, e.g. dockers. The algorithm has load balancing and horizontal scaling so that it can adjust the resource allocation on-going operation, minute by minute, based on the number of test cases that Jenkins master is receiving. The use of network interface cards (NICs) throughout the cluster allows this algorithm to facilitate communication between containerized instances, thereby distributing different environments and allowing parallel testing. In this way, the tests are run in parallel and improve not only the performance but also the scalability of the system to support huge software projects with very low latency and simultaneously achieve maximum throughput. The API for the feedback reporting portion uses a real-time analysis algorithm to compile test data from various sources such as protocols, coverage reports, and performance metrics created by the test engine. The algorithm then analyzes these data and identifies patterns and trends, but with implementable findings for better code quality and system operation as a whole. Statistical techniques evaluate the frequency and severity of test errors to generate early warnings of future problems. The analysis algorithm also allows for the adjustment so that users can set warnings depending on priority levels or thresholds. This means that important issues are immediately reported to the corresponding team members via integrated notification systems such as e-mail, chat applications or project management tools. This system's flexibility is supported by an algorithm placed in an adaptive configuration management unit. This algorithm can be used to adapt the test workflows and integration pipelines according to project requirements or agile practices in real-time. The language includes rule-based logic that allows the user to define test priority, container resource limits, or provisioning strategies. This type of parameter setting provides a dynamic context for configuration management, allowing system operation to follow an agile style, such that test and integration processes remain adaptable to changes in project scope or team dynamics. It uses an encryption and access control algorithm to enforce security protocols system-wide through the operation of a security management unit. The algorithm limits the disclosure of secure data by checking the user identity and setting arbitrary roles for various system aspects such as CI servers and code repository interface. In addition, it encrypts data when moving between / from components so as not to be chopped or data corruption occurs. The safety algorithm also checks the actions taken and triggers warnings of possible safety threats or violations to enforce enterprise policies and compliance with regulations. In addition, a visualization engine controlled by a smart data analysis algorithm is bundled with the feedback reporting unit. Basically, this algorithm transfers test results, build metrics, and code quality indicators, etc., to the visual representation such as charts or tables. Because these visualizations are customizable, users may filter data according to certain criteria or manipulate the level of detail displayed. Interactive elements are also supported to allow users to more accurately examine metrics or trends. The visualization engine facilitates development teams understanding critical system performance data, tracking progress across multiple visual metrics, and using the information in decisions about software quality improvements or project delivery deadlines. Finally, it implements a system of related algorithms to provide a comprehensive response for automatic software testing and continuous integration. From the test engine to the continuous integration server, each part of this system is equipped with algorithms tuned to performance, scalability and security, making it ideal for agile environments where fast iteration and adaptability play a large role. Fine grain coordination of the algorithms results in not only the support of test and integration phases being more efficient, but also providing a good level of reliability and safety, which can help agile development teams to quickly provide high quality software.More particularly, the invention encompasses a fully automated system for software testing and continuous integration designed for use in agile environments. The architecture includes a central processing unit (CPU) with embedded test engine, deep continuous integration (CI) diving, an interface to the code repository, a containerization module, and feedback reporting.UI Test Engine: The test engine tests and performs various types of automated tests, such as unit tests, integration tests, function tests, performance tests, etc. As the code changes, the test engine selects itself and may perform relevant test cases that may be derived from the module they change. This selection is implemented by a test engine using a dependency analysis submodule to map code changes and test cases. Detailed protocols and coverage reports generated by the test engine are stored in the system and are therefore easily accessible to developers via an integrated dashboard. They can configure this engine comprehensively, support many test frameworks in numerous languages, and are extensible to add tests when the project changes. An automated build and provision process coordinated by the continuous integration server. After the test engine checks whether Her's code changes met the quality requirements, it triggers a build automation tool to compile and package the application to allow everything to be used with CI therein. The CI server then transfers the compiled software to a staging area for provisioning or production itself, depending on how the provisioning was configured by the developer team. A rollback function ensures that they can always return to older versions of their software in the event of a critical error. The code repository interface allows the system to communicate with version control systems. It monitors changes in the Revision Control System's repositories for commits, merges, or pull requests and starts the test / CI process accordingly. It also supports industry-based workflows in which you can create feature industries and test them separately before merging them again with the main branch. The interface also supports multiple repositories and is therefore ideal for microservice architectures in which separate components may be stored in different repositories. The containerization module uses container technology such as dockers to isolate test environments. Tests can be performed in parallel, wherein containers are literally simultaneously started up with a single container. This also reduces their test time considerably. This function is particularly useful in agile environments where each sprint represents an opportunity to validate functions and changes. The feedback reporting unit gives time stamps and real-time feedback via email / alarms etc. and notifies developers and product owners as needed (depending on the interest representative). It combines test results, build status, code coverage metrics and other performance indicators into detailed reports. The reports may be retrieved via a web-based dashboard and notifications sent via email, chat applications, or integrated project management tools. With the feedback reporting unit, you can set your own thresholds and notifications so that you get notifications when there are problems that require immediate response. The system is also based on adaptive configuration management that allows users to freely adapt operations, test environments, and integration pipelines within their own agile practices. This flexibility allows the system to be customized in all respects and therefore remains up-to-date despite changing requirements of projects or team structures over time. The device structure that manages this system consists of a robust physical server setup or cloud-based virtual machines that host central processing unit, memory, and network interface components to ensure smooth operation. The hardware is optimized for processing large amounts of data so that we can perform parallel tests in various configurations without loss of power. The apparatus also has network interface cards (NICs) for secure and fast data transfer between the system components and various parts of the design pipeline. Moreover, the following system offers even more flexibility, performance, and agility for automated software testing, such as continuous integration in agile environments. Modular design, high integration, and real-time feedback options ensure that it becomes an indispensable tool for age development teams to quickly build high-quality software. To execute in Agile Development Environments where Adaptability, Short Iterations, and Continuous Feedback are the keys. It is an adjustable platform that supports all available types of agile methodologies and provides better support for container environments, many health functions for development tools, and full stack level security. It offers all the basic concepts that you require to test their software and the cost integration of tests, so that the code quality, reliability and scalability are maintained throughout the life cycle, no matter what you write.REFERENCES100 A system for automated software testing and continuous integration in an agile environment. 102 A central processing unit (CPU) 104 A test engine 106 A continuous integration server 108 A containerization module 110 A feedback notification unit
