System and method for automated change of active coil in sleeve wrapping machines

Abstract

The invention relates to an automated active roll change system and method for stretch hood wrapping machines (1). The system comprises a plastic feed device (2) with a set of feed rollers (5) consisting of driven rollers (17) and idler rollers (16), a gear (8) associated with each driven roller, and a feed motor assembly (3) with a drive shaft (7) movable by means of a pneumatic cylinder (11). The roller assembly (5) is movable on guides (9, 12) by means of a belt (18) and pulley (19) system driven by a positioning motor (10), which allows different driven rollers (17) to be selectively coupled to the feed motor (20). In this way, the machine can automatically select the active roll from the hopper (14) without stopping production, providing greater flexibility, autonomy, and efficiency in the packaging of palletized loads.
