Abstract
This product is a pillow (half pillow) with a deformable body due to the inclusion of particulate filler (e.g., foam beads) inside. As shown in Reference Figure 1, when a user lies supine on the product, the fluidity of the particulate filler causes the filler to move along the contours of the person under pressure from the buttocks, providing a shape that gently envelops and supports the user. Additionally, as shown in Reference Figure 2, the product also provides a shape that gently envelops and supports the user even when the user lies on their side. The filler under the buttocks acts as a rolling element, like a ball bearing, when the user turns over in bed, making it easy to do so. This prevents pressure ulcers that occur on the contact surface when people who have difficulty turning over stay in the same position. Additionally, the product reduces the force required by the caregiver to change the position of the care recipient, thereby reducing the occurrence of back pain for the caregiver. As shown in the plan view, perspective view, and Reference Figure 3, the product has a gently curved shape on the head side. This shape allows the internal filling material to gently envelop the upper body, including the head, with a nearly uniform force. Without a gently curved surface, the enveloping pressure would be uneven, resulting in a lack of softness. As shown in the plan view, AA cross-sectional end view, and BB cross-sectional end view, this product has a communication opening in the center of the plan view that allows the filling material to flow. Through this communication opening, the filling material can be moved toward the head, as shown in the perspective view 1 and Reference Figure 4 (changed state), or toward the buttocks, as shown in the perspective view 2 and Reference Figure 5 (changed state). By shifting the filling material, the height of the pillow can be adjusted to suit the user's preferences. As shown in Reference Figure 1, this product bottoms out at the lower buttocks, where the user's center of gravity (body center of gravity) is located. Meanwhile, the presence of filling material raises the area from the shoulders to the head and lower thighs. In this state, the user's lower back is in a moderately bent position. This position is similar to the fetal position (knees gently pulled in to the chest, back slightly curved), and is thought to be more effective in improving soothing properties and sleep quality. Just as the fetal position helps babies stop crying, this product also has the effect of relieving physical and mental tension and providing comfort to adults. This posture can also be said to correspond to the neutral posture, which is the least stressful posture for astronauts in zero gravity. That is, it is known that in zero gravity, the back is slightly bent and the thighs are raised, minimizing muscle tension and strain on the spine. This neutral posture can be achieved with this product. As shown in Reference Figure 6, this product can also be fitted with a cover. In the figure, the dotted lines are reference lines indicating seams.
