Opacifying systems for polymeric transparent substrates

Abstract

The present invention relates to the field of improved opacified polymeric transparent substrates (x00) for use in making security documents such as banknotes, said substrates (x00) combining good mechanical performance and that can be easily handled for subsequent multi-step security printing processes. In particular, the present invention provides kits for manufacturing an opacifying system (x10) either on one side or on both sides of a polymeric transparent substrate (xx0), said kit comprising a) a first composition for manufacturing an opacifying layer (x11), b) a second composition for manufacturing a conductive layer (x12), and c) a third layer composition for manufacturing an acceptance layer (x13), wherein the first, second and third compositions comprise i) water, ii) a water-soluble or water-dispersible resin, iii) a white pigment, iv) a wax, wherein at least one of the first, second and third compositions comprises an anti-static agent, and wherein at least two of said first, second and third compositions comprise a mica compound.
