[0068] refer to Figure 1 , this figure shows a block diagram of one possible and non-limiting example in which the examples may be practiced. A user equipment (UE) 110, a radio access network (RAN) node 170, and (multiple) network elements 190 are illustrated. Figure 1 In the example of FIG. 1 , a user UE 110 wirelessly communicates with a wireless network 100. A UE is a wireless device capable of accessing the wireless network 100. The UE 110 includes one or more processors 120, one or more memories 125, and one or more transceivers 130 interconnected by one or more buses 127. Each of the one or more transceivers 130 includes a receiver Rx 132 and a transmitter Tx 133. Figure 2 An example of multiple transceivers 130 is shown, where each transceiver includes a receiver Rx 132 and a transmitter Tx 133. A person skilled in the art will understand how to combine Figure 2 Examples with Figure 1 . Figure 1 and Figure 2 The combination of will result in a UE 110 with multiple panels. Example embodiments may be practiced using this example UE 110.
[0069] One or more buses 127 may be address, data or control buses and may include any interconnection mechanism, such as a series of lines on a motherboard or integrated circuit, optical fiber or other optical communication equipment, etc. One or more transceivers 130 are connected to one or more antennas 128. One or more memories 125 include computer program code 123. UE 110 includes a module 140 that can be implemented in many ways, and module 140 includes one or two of components 140-1 and / or 140-2. Module 140 can be implemented in hardware as module 140-1, such as being implemented as part of one or more processors 120. Module 140-1 can also be implemented as an integrated circuit or by other hardware (such as a programmable gate array). In another example, module 140 can be implemented as module 140-2, which is implemented as computer program code 123 and executed by one or more processors 120. For example, one or more memories 125 and computer program code 123 can be configured to utilize one or more processors 120 to enable user equipment 110 to perform one or more operations in the operations described herein. UE 110 communicates with RAN node 170 via wireless link 111 . Figure 3An example of multiple transceivers 130 is shown, each of which includes a receiver Rx 132 and a transmitter Tx 133, wherein each transceiver 130 is connected to a different RAN node 120 via a wireless link 111. UE 110 may include multiple transceivers 130 and may be connected to multiple RAN nodes 170 via (multiple) wireless links 111. Each connection between a UE 110 transceiver and a RAN node 170 may utilize a different transceiver 130 panel. Those skilled in the art will understand how to combine Figure 3 Examples with Figure 1 . Figure 1 and Figure 3 The combination of will result in a UE 110 with multiple panels, where each panel is capable of engaging a different transmission / reception point (TRP). Example embodiments may be practiced with this example UE 110.
[0070] The RAN node 170 in this example is a base station that provides access to the wireless network 100 through wireless devices such as UE 110. The RAN node 170 may be, for example, a base station for 5G, also known as New Radio (NR). In 5G, the RAN node 170 may be a NG-RAN node, which is defined as a gNB or ng-eNB. A gNB is a node that provides NR user plane and control plane protocol termination towards the UE and is connected to the 5GC (such as, for example, (multiple) network elements 190) via an NG interface. An ng-eNB is a node that provides E-UTRA user plane and control plane protocol termination towards the UE and is connected to the 5GC via an NG interface. The NG-RAN node may include multiple gNBs, which may also include a central unit (CU) (gNB-CU) 196 and (multiple) distributed units (DU) (gNB-DU), of which DU 195 is shown. It should be noted that the DU may include or be coupled to and control a radio unit (RU). The gNB-CU is a logical node that organizes the RRC, SDAP and PDCP protocols of the gNB or the RRC and PDCP protocols of the en-gNB, and controls the operation of one or more gNB-DUs. The gNB-CU terminates the F1 interface connected to the gNB-DU. The F1 interface is illustrated as reference numeral 198, and reference numeral 198 also illustrates the link between the remote elements of the RAN node 170 and the centralized elements of the RAN node 170 (such as between the gNB-CU 196 and the gNB-DU 195). The gNB-DU is a logical node that organizes the RLC, MAC and PHY layers of the gNB or en-gNB, and its operation is partially controlled by the gNB-CU. One gNB-CU supports one or more units. One unit is supported by only one gNB-DU. The gNB-DU terminates the F1 interface 198 connected to the gNB-CU. It should be noted that the DU 195 is treated as including the transceiver 160, for example, as part of the RU, but some examples thereof may have the transceiver 160 as part of a separate RU, for example, under the control of the DU 195 and connected to the DU 195. The RAN node 170 may also be an eNB (evolved NodeB) base station for LTE (Long Term Evolution) or any other suitable base station or node.
[0071] The RAN node 170 includes one or more processors 152, one or more memories 155, one or more network interfaces (N / WI / F) 161, and one or more transceivers 160 interconnected by one or more buses 157. Each of the one or more transceivers 160 includes a receiver Rx 162 and a transmitter Tx 163. The one or more transceivers 160 are connected to one or more antennas 158. The one or more memories 155 include computer program code 153. The CU 196 may include (multiple) processors 152, memories 155, and network interfaces 161. It should be noted that the DU 195 may also contain its own memory and (multiple) processors and / or other hardware, but these are not shown.
[0072] The RAN node 170 includes a module 150 that can be implemented in many ways, the module 150 including one or both of the components 150-1 and / or 150-2. The module 150 can be implemented in hardware as the module 150-1, such as being implemented as part of one or more processors 152. The module 150-1 can also be implemented as an integrated circuit or by other hardware (such as a programmable gate array). In another example, the module 150 can be implemented as a module 150-2, which is implemented as a computer program code 153 and executed by one or more processors 152. For example, one or more memories 155 and the computer program code 153 are configured to utilize one or more processors 152 to cause the RAN node 170 to perform one or more operations as described herein. It should be noted that the functionality of the module 150 can be distributed, such as distributed between the DU 195 and the CU 196, or implemented separately in the DU 195.
[0073] One or more network interfaces 161 communicate over a network, such as via links 176 and 131. Two or more gNBs 170 may communicate using, for example, link 176. Link 176 may be wired or wireless or both, and may implement, for example, an Xn interface for 5G, an X2 interface for LTE, or other appropriate interfaces for other standards.
[0074] The one or more buses 157 may be address, data, or control buses, and may include any interconnection mechanism, such as a series of wires on a motherboard or integrated circuit, optical fiber or other optical communication equipment, a wireless channel, etc. For example, the one or more transceivers 160 may be implemented as a remote radio head (RRH) 195 for LTE or a distributed unit (DU) 195 for a gNB implementation for 5G, where other elements of the RAN node 170 may be physically in a different location from the RRH / DU, and the one or more buses 157 can be implemented in part, for example, as a fiber optic cable or other appropriate network connection to connect the other elements of the RAN node 170 (e.g., central unit (CU), gNB-CU) to the RRH / DU 195. Reference numeral 198 also indicates those appropriate network link(s).
[0075] It should be noted that the description herein indicates that a "cell" performs a function, but it should be clear that the equipment forming the cell will perform the function. The cell constitutes part of the base station. That is, there can be multiple cells for each base station. For example, there can be three cells for a single carrier frequency and associated bandwidth, each cell covering one-third of a 360-degree area, so that the coverage area of a single base station covers an approximate ellipse or circle. In addition, each cell can correspond to a single carrier, and the base station can use multiple carriers. Therefore, if there are three 120-degree cells and two carriers for each carrier, the base station has a total of 6 cells.
[0076] The wireless network 100 may include a network element or element 190, which may include core network functionality and provide connectivity to another network via one or more links 181, such as a telephone network and / or a data communication network (e.g., the Internet). This core network functionality for 5G may include access and mobility management functions (AMF) and / or user plane functions (UPF) and / or session management functions (SMF). This core network functionality for LTE may include MME (mobility management entity) / SGW (serving gateway) functionality. These are only exemplary functions that may be supported by (multiple) network elements 190, and it should be noted that both 5G and LTE functions may be supported. The RAN node 170 is coupled to the network element 190 via a link 131. Link 131 may be implemented as, for example, an NG interface for 5G or an S1 interface for LTE or other appropriate interfaces for other standards. The network element 190 includes one or more processors 175, one or more memories 171, and one or more network interfaces (N / WI / F) 180 interconnected by one or more buses 185. The one or more memories 171 include computer program code 173. The one or more memories 171 and computer program code 173 are configured to, together with the one or more processors 175, cause the network element 190 to perform one or more operations.
[0077] The wireless network 100 may implement network virtualization, which is the process of combining hardware and software network resources and network functionality into a single software-based administrative entity virtual network. Network virtualization involves platform virtualization, which is often combined with resource virtualization. Network virtualization is classified as combining many networks or parts of networks into an external virtual unit or providing network-like functionality to a software container on a single system. It should be noted that the virtualized entities caused by network virtualization are still implemented to some extent using hardware such as processors 152 or 175 and memories 155 and 171, and such virtualized entities also produce technical effects.
[0078] Computer readable memories 125, 155, and 171 may be of any type suitable for the local technical environment and may be implemented using any appropriate data storage technology, such as semiconductor-based memory devices, flash memory, magnetic memory devices and systems, optical memory devices and systems, fixed memory, and removable memory. Computer readable memories 125, 155, and 171 may be components for performing storage functions. As non-limiting examples, processors 120, 152, and 175 may be of any type suitable for the local technical environment and may include one or more of a general-purpose computer, a special-purpose computer, a microprocessor, a digital signal processor (DSP), and a processor based on a multi-core processor architecture. Processors 120, 152, and 175 may be components for performing functions, such as controlling UE 110, RAN node 170, and other functions as described herein.
[0079] In general, various embodiments of user equipment 110 can include, but are not limited to, a cellular telephone (such as a smart phone), a tablet computer, a personal digital assistant (PDA) with wireless communication capabilities, a portable computer with wireless communication capabilities, an image capture device with wireless communication capabilities (such as a digital camera), a gaming device with wireless communication capabilities, a music storage and playback device with wireless communication capabilities, an Internet device allowing wireless Internet access and browsing, a tablet computer with wireless communication capabilities, and a portable unit or terminal incorporating a combination of such functionality.
[0080] Features as described herein generally relate to uplink power control, where a UE may use multiple panels and / or beams for uplink transmissions.
[0081] 3GPP New Radio (NR) Rel-15 provides support for beam-specific uplink transmission (UL TX) power control (PC) schemes. Beam-specific power control is supported by the configuration of an association between a UL beam indicator (e.g., SRS Resource Index (SRI)), beam-specific path loss measurements, and open-loop parameter settings. The Rel-15 physical layer specification 3GPP TS 38.213 defines UE procedures for both open-loop (OL) based transmit power control and inner-loop based transmit power control, as well as the associated path loss (PL) measurements for each type of power control. 3GPP TS 38.331 defines the higher layer signaling for configuration of the UL power control scheme.
[0082] Rel-16 provides support for panel-aware uplink beam selection for single antenna panel UL transmissions. However, a unified forward-compatible scheme covering both single panel UL UE transmissions and synchronized multi-panel UL UE transmissions needs to be specified. Since the path loss values associated with the TX and RX beam pairs vary on a per-panel basis, the Rel-15 beam-specific UL TX power control scheme needs to be enhanced to additionally provide support for antenna panel specific transmission power control.
[0083] Support for panel-specific power control as well as beam-specific power control may be achieved by defining a UL beam indicator for each UE panel. However, defining a UL beam indicator for each UE panel would imply including an SRI field for downlink control information (DCI) for each UE panel. Thus, the size of the DCI would vary depending on the number of SRI fields corresponding to the number of UE panels. Features of example embodiments of the present invention may not include incorporating a variable size DCI.
[0084] In order to avoid using variable-sized DCI to simultaneously implement support for panel-specific power control as well as beam-specific power control, a unified beam indicator may be specified instead of a panel-specific UL beam indicator. This unified beam indicator may be, for example, an uplink transmission configuration index (UL TCI) state. In addition, an associated uplink power control (UL PC) algorithm / configuration adapted to this unified beam indicator may be implemented.
[0085] Reference Figure 4 , depicting an uplink transmission configuration index (UL TCI) state table 410 and an uplink power control (UL PC) configuration table 420, which are simply modified versions of the rel-15 DL TCI state and Rel-15 UL power control configuration tables. These tables 410 and 420 show examples of associations between (multiple) UL TCI states and (multiple) UL PC configurations.
[0086] exist Figure 4 In the UL TCI state table 410, it is assumed that the RS resources with ID#0, #2 shown in the second column 414 are configured for panel 0. It is assumed that the RS resources with ID#1 shown in the second column 414 of the UL TCI state table 410 are configured for panel 1. In the UL PC configuration table 420, it is assumed that the RS resources with ID#A are configured for panel 0 and the RS resources with ID#B are configured for panel 1, as shown in the second column 424 of the UL PC configuration table 420.
[0087] exist Figure 4In the example of FIG. 4 , for a state with more than 1 reference RS for a beam or for a state with more than 1 PL-RS 424 or OL setting 426, additional description is needed to indicate the association between the UL beam and the UL PC configuration for a UE capable of multi-panel simultaneous transmission. For example, refer to the UL TCI state with state index 2 as shown in the first column 412 of the UL TCI state table 410, and the UL PC configuration state with state index 2 as shown in the first column 422 of the UL PC configuration table 420. There are two beams or reference RSs for beams in state index 2 in the UL TCI state table 410, and there are two pairs of PL-RS 424 and OL setting 426 in state index 2 in the UL PC configuration table 420, wherein the association between the reference RSs of the beams and the UL PC settings is not shown.
[0088] Additionally, in Figure 4 In the example of , the size / content of each element in the UL PC configuration table 420 is changed. Therefore, if MAC CE-based dynamic update of UL PC configuration is supported, a new MAC control element (CE) signal may be defined.
[0089] In one example embodiment, instead of defining Figure 4 In the beam-specific UL PC configuration in , the UL PC setting can be configured with respect to the source of the spatial relationship information. In other words, the UL PC setting can be configured for each reference source that can be used for UL beam indication.
[0090] exist Figure 4 In the example embodiment, a quasi co-location (QCL) assumption is included 416 in the UL TCI state table 410. In the example embodiment, it is assumed that the QCL assumption is the same for each state index 412.
[0091] Figure 5 An example configuration of the association between the beam reference RS (ie the source of the spatial relationship information) and the UL PC setting is shown. The UL PC is configured per the source of the spatial relationship information. Figure 5 The first column 510 shows the source of the spatial relationship information. Figure 5 The second column 520 of φ shows a path loss measurement reference signal (PL-RS). Figure 5 The third column 530 of shows the open loop (OL) parameter value settings. Figure 5 In the example of FIG. 5 , the RS resources with IDs #0, #2 shown in the first column 510 are configured for panel 0, as shown in FIG. Figure 4 The ULTCI state table 410 of FIG. 40 is shown in FIG. 410 , and the RS resource with ID#A is configured for panel 0, as in FIG. Figure 4 UL PC configuration table 420. Figure 5In the example, the RS resource with ID #1 shown in the first column 510 is configured for panel 1, as shown in Figure 4 UL TCI state table 410, and the RS resource with ID#B is configured for panel 1, as in Figure 4 UL PC configuration table 420. Figure 5 In the example of , the RS resource with ID#3 or with ID#C is configured for panel 1.
[0092] Figure 5 and Figure 4 The combination of the UL TCI state table 410 can make the UE clear about the overall operation of UL PC without any additional configuration.
[0093] exist Figure 5 , the parameter 'J' of the OL setting as shown in the third column 530 corresponds to 'j' of the UL power control equation in Rel-15, which is an indicator for selecting the values of the open loop power control parameters α and P0. The OL setting is also shown in Figure 4 The UL power control equation in Rel-15 is shown in the third column 426 of the ULPC configuration table 420.
[0094]
[0095] Figure 6 is an example of how a UE understands or interprets the association between an UL transmission beam and a corresponding power control configuration. Figure 4 The UL TCI status table 410 is the same as that of the UL TCI status table 410, and the upper right table 620 is the same as that of the UL TCI status table 410. Figure 5 are the same. Thus, state index 612 corresponds to state index 412; reference RS for beam 614 corresponds to reference RS for beam 414; QCL assumption 616 corresponds to QCL assumption 416; reference RS for beam 622 corresponds to reference RS for beam 510; PL-RS 624 corresponds to PL-RS 520; and OL setting 626 corresponds to OL setting 530. For UL scheduling, gNb naturally needs to indicate the UL beam to the UE, but may not need to include additional information in the UL grant, because the UE can determine the associated (multiple) UL PC configurations based on the UL beam indicator, such as Figure 6 as shown in .
[0096] In an example embodiment, UL panel specific power control and UL beam specific power control may be defined for SRS / PUSCH / PUCCH / PRACH preamble transmissions. In an example embodiment, a scheme can be applied using a unified UL beam indicator (such as a UL TCI state), where one or more beams from multiple panels can be indicated together, even if there are significant differences in the required transmission power between beams and / or panels. Compared to Rel-15, where an association between SRI and UL PC settings (path loss RSID, open loop parameter values) is configured, in an example embodiment, an association between (multiple) UL beams (i.e., the source of spatial relationship information) and UL PC settings may be configured.
[0097] In an example embodiment, a mechanism may be defined to dynamically indicate to the UE the UL TX antenna panel or beam along with the panel / (multiple) beam specific power control settings without the need for additional DCI fields / content for any type of multi-beam / panel UL transmissions. Configuration of a direct association between the UL beam / panel and the (multiple) UL PC settings may result in no need for additional dynamic signaling for UL PC configuration. A single DCI may be used to indicate multiple path loss RSs or (multiple) open loop parameters; thus, the example embodiments may also be utilized to support multi-beam / panel transmissions with significant differences in required transmit power, such as UL multiple transmit / receive points (multiple TRPs).
[0098] In an example embodiment, a mechanism may be defined to use a unified UL beam indicator with dynamic change / switching of active UL beam management. For example, an example embodiment may support UL transmit power control through MAC CE / DCI-based selection of an active UL TCI state from a set of TCI states for a single antenna panel or for synchronous multi-panel UL transmissions. In another example, an example embodiment may support UL TCI state-specific power control, where the state may be dynamically adapted based on the MAC CE. When the spatial relationship information for the UL TCI state is updated via the MAC CE, the associated power control settings, including PL-RS or open-loop parameter values, may be dynamically updated without additional signaling as required in the baseline system. For a set of UL TCI states that can activate one of the states, the UL PC setting may be configured to have the same amount of RRC signaling overhead regardless of the number of configured UL TCI states.
[0099] In an example embodiment, to support beam-specific power control, the UE may be configured to have multiple PL-RSs and multiple values of open-loop power control parameters simultaneously. For each scheduled PUSCH transmission, the UL grant may contain additional information about which the PL-RS is configured and the values of the open-loop parameters are applied for power control. In Rel-15, this information is associated with the UL beam indicator and additional bits are avoided. In Rel-16, since multiple panels or multiple beams indicated by a single UL grant may have significant differences in the path loss or interference environment experienced, such UL power control based on the UL beam indicator may be invalid; multiple UL beam indicators or multiple indicators for power control configuration selection may be necessary, where the number of indicators will vary depending on the number of UE panels or the number of beams selected for each UL transmission. The need for this configuration of indicators may result in changes in the DCI size per UE or per UL transmission. Therefore, in an example embodiment, instead of a UL power control setting based on a UL beam indicator, an example embodiment of the present invention may include a beam reference resource / source for UL power control based on spatial relationship information.
[0100] In an example embodiment, during the UL beam management process, gNb may configure multiple UL candidate beams that may be dynamically selected for each UL transmission. For UL beam alignment between gNb and the UE, a resource RS may be configured as a source of spatial relationship information for each candidate beam. Figure 4 In the UL TCI state table 410, the reference RS is indicated in the second column 414. Figure 6 In the second column 634 of the lower table 630, the reference RS is indicated. Figure 6 In the upper right table 620 of , the reference signal indexed by RS ID#3 is not configured as the source of spatial relationship information for the candidate beams in the upper left table 610. Due to this situation, the UE does not find any use of RS ID#3 in the lower table 630; however, it is assumed that the beam associated with the source of spatial relationship information RS ID#3 has the possibility of being used as a UL beam for transmission.
[0101] In an example embodiment, the UE may be configured with multiple PL-RSs, where separate measurements of path loss may be performed for each RS. The amount of path loss RS or the amount of path loss RS per panel may be determined based on the difference in path loss per beam / panel or required transmission power.
[0102] exist Figure 6 In the example, for the beam transmitted via panel 0, gNb configures one path loss RS 624 indicated by RS ID#A, as shown in the upper right table 620. Figure 6 636. Figure 6 In FIG. 6 , for the beam transmitted via panel 1, gNb configures two path loss RS 624 indicated by RS ID #B, #C, as shown in the upper right table 620. This is also Figure 6 This means that beams to be transmitted via panel 0 may have similar path losses or required transmission powers, while beams to be transmitted via panel 1 may have significant differences in path losses or required transmission powers because the path loss measured by #B may be different from the path loss 624 measured by #C.
[0103] Since the path loss RS 636 and the open loop parameter value 638 are configured for each UL candidate beam, when the UL beam is indicated by the UL grant, the UE may be able to determine which path loss RS and open loop parameter value(s) should be used for the UL PC.
[0104] Figure 7 is an example of UL candidate beam selection. Panel 0 is capable of transmitting beams RS#0 and RS#2, while panel 1 is capable of transmitting beams RS#1 and RS#3. RS#0, RS#1, and RS#2 are selected as candidate beams for UL transmission. RS#3 is not selected.
[0105] Figure 8 is an example of a PL-RS configuration. Figure 8 In the example, it is assumed that RS#0 will show a completely different path loss than RS#2, and this difference in path loss is the reason for selecting and not configuring RS#0 as a candidate beam. Based on this candidate beam selection, separate path loss measurements between RS#3 and RS#1 may be required, while one common RS (RS#A) may be configured for path loss measurements for panel 0 (RS#A). Different values of open loop parameters (e.g., P0) may be configured between candidate beams to handle the difference in path loss based on RS#3 and RS#1.
