Description

Technical Field

[0001] This document generally relates to configuring feedback messages for responding to transport blocks. Background Art

[0002] Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) is a method for improving the transmission efficiency of a communication system. This method can adapt to channel changes to improve the transmission efficiency of the system, and is therefore widely used in wireless communication systems. In many such communication systems, HARQ uses only a single bit of feedback information to indicate whether a transmission is correct. For example, when a first node responds to a second node after receiving a data packet from the second node, a single bit is used to indicate the reception status, including a correct acknowledgment (ACK) or an incorrect acknowledgment (NACK) of the data packet.

[0003] However, for complex and changeable communication channels, the amount of information carried by the single-bit feedback mechanism is too small, which in turn leads to reduced transmission efficiency. With the growth of communication needs, cellular systems are facing more and more complex communication environments. In the new radio access technology (NR) of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), that is, the fifth-generation cellular system, a code block group (CBG) transmission method is adopted to improve transmission efficiency. The CBG transmission method is a multi-bit HARQ feedback mechanism. For example: in order to send a transmission block, the second node can divide a transmission block containing N code blocks (CB) into M CBGs and send the M CBGs to the first node. In turn, the first node feeds back M bits of information, each of the M bits corresponding to one of the M CBGs. Not only that, with the transmission of the transmission block, the second node needs M bits to indicate whether a CBG is sent to reduce the retransmission resource overhead. However, the current CBG transmission method has the following disadvantages, including: this method is only effective in the case of large transmission volume; the control overhead used by CBG transmission is relatively large; although compared with the single-bit method, CBG transmission can only save the amount of resources occupied by retransmission, it cannot adjust the reliability of subsequent transmission. Therefore, the current CBG transmission method cannot meet the requirements of ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC). Therefore, it may be necessary to improve the method of feedback message transmission in wireless communication to enhance the flexibility, reliability and efficiency of subsequent transmission. [0014] This specification describes a communication node in a system that communicates with each other more efficiently and reliably through improved feedback messages. A first node may receive at least a portion of a transmission block from a second node. The first node may respond to the second node with a message indicating a detection result of at least one transmission block portion. In doing so, the message may indicate the transmission result and additional information indicating to the second node how to set one or more parameters for subsequent transmission. In various embodiments, the message may include a value indicating the detection result and the additional information, such as an M-bit binary value. In multiple transmissions, the first node may be flexibly configured to change the content indicated by the additional information to the second node. Additionally or optionally, in multiple transmissions, the first node may be able to change the value of M in the M-bit binary value. Thus, communication of transmission blocks and / or transmission block portions between nodes, including retransmission of transmission blocks and / or transmission block portions, may be performed more reliably and / or more efficiently.

[0015] In more detail, Figure 1 A schematic diagram of an example wireless communication system 100 is shown, which includes a plurality of communication nodes configured to wirelessly communicate with each other. The communication nodes include a first node 102 and a second node 104. Various other examples of the wireless communication system 100 may include more than two communication nodes.

[0016] Typically, each communication node is an electronic device or multiple electronic devices (or a network or combination of multiple electronic devices) configured to wirelessly communicate with another node in a wireless communication system, including wirelessly sending signals and wirelessly receiving signals. In various embodiments, each communication node can be one of multiple types of communication nodes.

[0017] One type of communication node is a user device. A user device includes a single electronic device or apparatus capable of wireless communication over a network, or multiple electronic devices or apparatuses (e.g., a network of multiple electronic devices or apparatuses). A user device may include or be referred to as a user terminal or user equipment (UE). In addition, a user device may be or include, but is not limited to, a mobile device (as a non-limiting example, such as a mobile phone, a smart phone, a tablet computer, or a laptop computer) or a fixed or stationary device (as a non-limiting example, such as a desktop computer or other computing device that is not usually moved for a long time, such as an appliance, other relatively heavy devices (including the Internet of Things (IoT)) or a computing device used in a commercial or industrial environment).

[0018] The second type of communication node is a wireless access node. A wireless access node may include one or more base stations or other wireless network access points capable of wirelessly communicating with one or more user devices and / or one or more other wireless access nodes over a network. For example, in various embodiments, the wireless access node 104 may include a 4G LTE base station, a 5G NR base station, a 5G central unit base station, a 5G distributed unit base station, a next generation node B (gNB), an enhanced node B (eNB), or other base stations.

[0019] like Figure 1 As shown, each communication node 102, 104 may include a transceiver circuit 106 coupled to an antenna 108 to implement wireless communication. The transceiver circuit 106 may also be coupled to a processor 110, which may also be coupled to a memory 112 or other storage device. The processor 110 may be configured in hardware (e.g., a digital logic circuit, a field programmable gate array (FPGA), an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), etc.) and / or a combination of hardware and software (e.g., a hardware circuit configured to execute computer code in the form of software and / or firmware to perform functions (e.g., a central processing unit (CPU))). The memory 112 may be in the form of a volatile memory, a non-volatile memory, a combination thereof, or other types of memory, which may be implemented in hardware and may store therein instructions or codes that, when read and executed by the processor 110, cause the instructions or codes to be executed. The processor 110 implements the various functions and / or methods described herein. Meanwhile, in various embodiments, the antenna 108 may include a plurality of antenna elements, each of which may have an associated phase and / or amplitude, which may be controlled and / or adjusted, for example, by the processor 110. Through this control, the communication node may be configured to have a transmission side directivity and / or a reception side directivity, so that the processor 110 and / or the transceiver circuit 106 may select a beam from a plurality of possible beams to perform beamforming, and transmit or receive a signal through the antenna radiating the selected beam.

[0020] In addition, in various embodiments, the communication nodes 102, 104 can be configured to wirelessly communicate with each other in or through a mobile network and / or a wireless access network according to one or more standards and / or specifications. Typically, the standards and / or specifications can define the rules or procedures under which the communication nodes 102, 104 can communicate wirelessly, which may include rules or procedures for communicating in millimeter (mm) wave bands and / or with multiple antenna schemes and beamforming functions. Additionally or optionally, the standards and / or specifications are those that define wireless access technologies and / or cellular technologies, such as, as non-limiting examples, fourth generation (4G) long term evolution (LTE) technology, fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) access technology, or unlicensed band access (NR-U) technology.

[0021] In the wireless system 100, the communication nodes 102, 104 are configured to wirelessly transmit signals between each other. Typically, the communication between two communication nodes in the wireless system 100 may be or include transmission or reception, and is typically performed simultaneously, depending on the perspective of the specific nodes in the communication. For example, for the communication between the first node 102 and the second node 104, when the first node 102 is sending a signal to the second node 104 and the second node 104 is receiving a signal from the first node 102, the communication can be considered as the transmission of the first node 102 and the reception of the second node 104. Similarly, when the second node 104 is sending a signal to the first node 102 and the first node 102 is receiving a signal from the second node 104, the communication can be considered as the transmission of the second node 104 and the reception of the first node 102. Hereinafter, for simplicity, the communication between the two nodes is generally referred to as transmission.

[0022] In addition, various signals transmitted between nodes may carry data, information, or messages in the form of transport blocks. A transport block is a single unit of data sent or received by a communication node. In addition, in various embodiments, a communication node may identify and / or transmit data granularity finer than a transport block (referred to as a code block or referred to as a code block group (CBG)). Typically, multiple or a group of code blocks or CBGs may form a transport block. Various communication standards or protocols, such as those in 5G NR, may define transport blocks, code blocks, and CBGs generated and / or transmitted by communication nodes.

[0023] Figure 2A block diagram of multiple modules of a communication node is shown, including a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) module 202, a radio link control (RLC) module 204, a medium access control (MAC) module 206, a coding (or encoder) module 208, a modulation (or modulator) module 210, a channel estimation (or estimator) module 212, a multi-antenna demultiplexing detection (or detector) (also known as a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detection (or detector)) module 214, a demodulation (or demodulator) module 216, and a decoding (or decoder) module 218. In general, as used herein, a module is an electronic device including hardware or a combination of hardware and software, such as an electronic circuit. In various embodiments, a module can be considered to be Figure 1 The module may be a part or component of a communication node, or may be implemented using one or more components of a communication node, including a processor 110, a memory 112, a transceiver circuit 106, or an antenna 108. For example, the processor 110 may perform the functions of the module, such as when executing computer code stored in the memory 112. In addition, in various embodiments, the functions performed by the module may be defined by one or more standards or protocols, such as 5G NR.

[0024] For at least some example embodiments, Figure 2 As shown, all or some of the encoding module 208, the modulation module 210, the channel estimation module 212, the multi-antenna demultiplexing detection module 214, the demodulation module 216 and the decoding module 218 are part, components or submodules of the physical layer module 220. At the same time, in various embodiments, the PDCP module 202, the RLC module 204, the MAC module 206 and the PHY module 220 may be, or the functions they perform may be part of multiple protocol layers (or just layers), and various functions of the communication node are organized and / or defined in multiple protocol layers. Figure 2 Among the four modules 202, 204, 206, and 220 in the communication node, the PHY module 220 may be or correspond to the lowest layer, the MAC module 206 may be or correspond to the second lowest layer (higher than the PHY module 220), the RLC module 204 may be or correspond to the third lowest layer (higher than the PHY module 220 and the MAC module 206), and the PDCP module 202 may be or correspond to the fourth lowest layer (or the highest of the four modules, i.e., higher than the PHY module 220, the MAC module 206, and the RLC module 204). In various embodiments, the communication node may include, in addition to Figure 2Modules and / or protocol layers other than those shown in .

[0025] Figure 2 The modules shown in the figure can perform various functions and communicate with each other, such as by transmitting signals or messages between each other to send and receive transport blocks. The functions that the packet data convergence protocol module 202 can perform include, but are not limited to, Internet Protocol (IP) header compression and decompression, encryption and decryption, integrity protection, retransmission management, in-order delivery, deduplication, dual connectivity, and switching functions.

[0026] The radio link control module 204 may perform segmentation of service data units (SDUs) into protocol data units (PDUs) of appropriate size. In various embodiments, data entities from / to higher protocol layers or modules are referred to as SDUs, while corresponding data entities to / from lower protocol layers or modules are referred to as PDUs. The RLC module 204 may also perform retransmission management, which includes monitoring sequence numbers in the PDUs to identify lost PDUs. In addition, the RLC module 204 may transmit status reports to enable retransmission of lost PDUs. The RLC module 204 may also be configured to identify errors caused by noise or channel variations.

[0027] The MAC module 206 may perform or process logical channel multiplexing and demultiplexing, hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmissions, and scheduling related functions, including allocating uplink and downlink resources in the frequency domain and the time domain. In addition, the MAC module 206 may determine a transport format that specifies how a transport block is sent. The transport format may specify the transport block size, the coding modulation scheme, and the antenna mapping. By changing the parameters of the transport format, the MAC module 206 may achieve different data rates. The MAC module 206 may also control the allocation of data from a stream across different component carriers or cells for carrier aggregation.

[0028] The coding module 208 and the modulation module 210 can be used to send a transport block. The coding module 208 can be configured to encode data of a transport block to be sent to another communication node. Encoding the data can enable the receiving communication node to determine whether the data includes any errors. The coding module 208 can encode the data according to any of a variety of coding schemes and / or according to any of a variety of coded modulation methods, as described in further detail below. The modulation module 210 can modulate the data (e.g., coded data) according to any of a variety of modulation schemes or types, such as quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) and quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), as non-limiting examples.

[0029] To receive a transport block, a channel estimation module 212 may perform channel estimation to determine channel state information for one or more channels on which the communication node receives signals. Details related to the channel state information will be described in more detail below. A multi-antenna demultiplexing detection module 214 may perform signal recovery for different signals that the transmitting communication node may transmit on multiple antenna elements. A demodulation module 216 may demodulate received data (e.g., a received transport block or a portion of a transport block), and a decoding module 218 may decode received data (e.g., demodulated data). As part of the decoding process, the decoding module 214 may identify errors in the received data.

[0030] The communication node may also include a feedback generation module 222, which is configured to generate a message that the communication node sends (or feeds back) to another communication node in response to receiving at least a portion of a transmission block from another communication node. Hereinafter, for clarity, the communication node that receives at least one transmission block portion and generates and sends a message is referred to as the first node 102, and the communication node that sends at least one transmission block portion and receives the message is referred to as the second node 104. However, referring to the first node 102 and the second node 104 in this way does not mean limitation, and in various embodiments, the roles of the first node 102 and the second node 102 can be interchanged, and / or the first node 102 and the second node 104 can both include the feedback generation module 222, and / or the first node 102 and the second node 104 can both be configured to perform their own functions and the functions of the other node at different times, depending on whether it is the node that sends the message of at least one transmission block portion or responds to the message of at least one transmission block portion for a given communication.

[0031] Furthermore, in various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be a separate component from one of the other modules and / or part of its own protocol layer. In other embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be a submodule of one or more of the other modules 202-220, and / or part of a specific protocol layer. Various configurations of the feedback generation module 222 are possible.

[0032] Additionally, in general, a transport block may have an associated total size (e.g., number of bits), and a portion of a transport block may be a portion of a transport block having a size (number of bits) that is less than the total size of the transport block. In various embodiments, a portion of a transport block may include a code block, a code block group (CBG), or any other data or bit collection having a size that is less than the total size of the transport block. Thus, the phrase "at least a portion of a transport block" (also referred to as "at least one transport block portion") refers to all bits that are part of or form a transport block, or at least some bits instead of all bits.

[0033] In addition, the message generated by the feedback generation module 222 indicates the detection result of receiving the at least one transport block part, and additional information indicating to the second node 104 how to set one or more parameters for subsequent transmissions to the first node 102. The message generated by the feedback generation module 222 and ultimately sent by the first node 102 to the second node 104 can be used for or replace the acknowledgement message that the first node 102 will send according to the HARQ feedback process. For example, instead of responding to the second node 104 with only the detection result of receiving the at least one transport block part (which can be in the form of a single-bit value indicating a correct acknowledgement (ACK) or an incorrect acknowledgement (NACK)), the first node 102 sends a message to the second node 104 instead.

[0034] As indicated, the detection result indicates acknowledgement information regarding the reception of at least one transport block portion by the first node 102. The reception may be one of two types, including successful reception and unsuccessful reception. If the first node 102 successfully receives at least one transport block portion, the detection result indicates (or the acknowledgement information includes) a correct acknowledgement (ACK), which indicates that the first node 104 successfully receives at least one transport block portion. Additionally, if the first node 104 unsuccessfully receives at least one transport block portion, the detection result indicates (or the acknowledgement information includes) a false acknowledgement (NACK), which indicates that the first node 102 unsuccessfully receives at least one transport block portion.

[0035] In various embodiments, the first node 102 may determine whether it has successfully received at least one transport block portion in various ways. For at least some embodiments, the decoding module 218 may make a determination based on the decoding result. For example, after decoding at least one transport block portion, the decoding module 218 may determine an error status. In various embodiments, the error status may indicate a number of errors, an error rate associated with at least one transport block portion, and / or whether the decoding module 218 was able to successfully correct a threshold number (e.g., all) of the determined errors. Details regarding the error status determined by the decoding module 218 will be described in further detail below. If the error status is acceptable (e.g., the number of bit errors is below a threshold level (e.g., for at least some embodiments, 0 bit errors), or the decoding module 218 corrects or is able to correct a threshold number of bit errors), the feedback generation module 222 may generate a message indicating successful reception (or correct acknowledgment) of at least one transport block portion. On the other hand, if the error status is unacceptable (e.g., the number of bit errors exceeds a threshold level, or the decoding module cannot correct a threshold number of bit errors), the feedback generation module 222 may generate a message indicating unsuccessful reception (or an erroneous acknowledgement) of at least one transport block portion.

[0036] If the message indicates unsuccessful reception, the second node 104, after receiving the message, may perform retransmission, i.e., retransmit at least one transport block portion to the first node 102. On the other hand, if the message indicates successful reception, the second node 104, after receiving the message, may determine that retransmission is not required, and then refrain from retransmitting at least one transport block portion.

[0037] In addition, as described above, the message generated by the feedback generation module 222 indicates additional information that indicates to the second node 104 how to set one or more parameters for subsequent transmissions to the first node 102. A subsequent transmission includes a transmission from the second node 104 to the first node 102 (or another communication in the communication system 100) that occurs or is performed after the transmission of at least one transmission block portion transmitted by the second node 104 to the first node 102. In this context, the transmission of at least one transmission block portion for which the first node 102 generates a message can be considered or referred to as a current transmission. In addition, in various embodiments, a subsequent transmission is a next transmission or a transmission performed by the second node 104 directly after the current transmission (e.g., there is no transmission between the current transmission and the subsequent transmission). In other embodiments, a subsequent transmission is a transmission performed after the current transmission, rather than the next transmission or a transmission performed directly after the current transmission (e.g., one or more transmissions are performed between the current transmission and the subsequent transmission). In addition, the transmission itself may also or alternatively be referred to as a transmission instance, each transmission instance being a transmission of a given at least one transmission block portion from one node to another node. Thus, each transmission or transmission instance may be a data communication that is identified as occurring separately or discretely from one another. Additionally, the subsequent transmission may be a retransmission of at least one transmission block portion, or a transmission of a different at least one transmission block portion. The different at least one transmission block portion may be a different portion of the same transmission block transmitted in the current transmission, or at least a portion of a different transmission block.

[0038] In addition, the parameters of the transmission are the attributes or characteristics of the transmission, and are set, controlled and / or adjusted by the second node 104 for the transmission. The parameter may be an operating parameter of the second node 104, such as the transmit power or transmit beam of the antenna 108 of the second node 104; the transmission resources used during the transmission; or the parameters of the coding modulation method of the data transmitted during the transmission. The transmission resources may include at least one of the following: transmission bandwidth, transmission duration, number of resource blocks, number of subcarriers, number of resource elements, number of modulation symbols, or number of bits output by the encoder (encoding module 208). In addition, the parameters of the coding modulation method may include at least one of the following: coding rate, modulation type, redundancy version, codeword bit generation process, or spectrum efficiency. In various embodiments, the codeword bit generation process may include at least one of the following: generating matrix, parity check matrix, generating polynomial, interleaving pattern, puncturing pattern, shortening pattern, scrambling sequence, or freezing sequence. Other parameters that the second node 104 can set or adjust for transmission are also possible.

[0039] After receiving the message, the second node 104 may set one or more parameters according to the additional information indicated in the message, which may include adjusting the values of one or more parameters from a previous transmission. As a result of using the additional information in the message, the second node 104 may perform one or more subsequent transmissions more efficiently at a given reliability, or achieve a given reliability with fewer retransmissions of a given at least one transmission block portion. An exemplary given reliability may be a transmission block error rate.

[0040] The feedback generation module 222 may generate a given message according to at least one of a plurality of message types. In other words, the message may be generated according to only one message type or a combination of message types. The message type may be one of the following: a detection state information type, a transmission resource type, a coding modulation type, a channel state information type, or an error rate type. The message generated according to a given message type indicates and / or includes at least one aspect of the given message type, or corresponds to at least one aspect of the given message type.

[0041] One aspect of the detection state information type is a detection state information set comprising at least one detection state information parameter associated with reception of at least one transport block part. The detection state information parameters may include: one or more (e.g., one or a series of) received powers of at least one transport block part; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) input signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) of the multi-antenna demultiplexing detector module 214; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) output signal-to-noise ratios of the multi-antenna demultiplexing detector module 214; at least one output signal statistic of the multi-antenna demultiplexing detector module 214; at least one input signal statistic of the multi-antenna demultiplexing detector module 214; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) input signal-to-noise ratios of the demodulation module 216; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) output signal-to-noise ratios of the demodulation module 216; at least one output signal statistic of the demodulation module 216; at least one input signal statistic of the demodulation module 216; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) input signal-to-noise ratios of the decoding module 218; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) output signal-to-noise ratios of the decoding module 218; at least one output signal statistic of the decoding module 218; or at least one input signal statistic of the decoding module 218. In various embodiments, the statistic of the input signal or the output signal is a mean, a variance, a second-order moment, or a higher-order moment than the second-order moment.

[0042] In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be configured to convert one or more detection state information parameters of the detection state information set into a detection state information value that indicates or represents the detection state information set, or another aspect of the detection state information type. For at least some embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be configured to use one or more values of one or more detection state information parameters as one or more inputs to a predetermined formula or algorithm, and use the formula or algorithm to calculate or determine the detection state information value as a function of the input. In addition, in various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine the detection state information value based on the signaling configuration of a protocol layer higher than the physical layer (e.g., a MAC layer, an RLC layer, or a PDCP layer).

[0043] Another aspect of the detection state information type is the relative value between the detection state information set associated with at least one transmission block portion and one or more related reference values. Typically, the related reference value may be a known or predetermined value that the feedback generation module 222 is pre-configured with or that the feedback generation module 222 can access. In addition, in a specific example, the relative value may be or correspond to a ratio or difference between a detection state information value or a value of a detection state information parameter and a related reference value. In some embodiments, after the first node 102 receives at least one transmission block portion, the feedback generation module 222 may determine the detection state information value and then determine the relative value between the detection state information value and the related reference value. For illustration, it is assumed that the detection state information parameter includes an input SNR and an output SNR of the multi-antenna demultiplexing detector module 214. The feedback generation module 222 may determine the detection state information value based on the input SNR and the output SNR of the multi-antenna demultiplexing detector module 214 and then determine the relative value between the detection state information value and the reference value. In other embodiments, after the first node 102 receives at least one transmission block portion, the feedback generation module 222 can determine multiple pre-relative values, each pre-relative value is between a corresponding detection state information parameter and an associated reference value, and then determine the relative value based on a combination of the multiple pre-relative values. For illustration, as described above, it is assumed that the detection state information parameter includes an input SNR and an output SNR of the multi-antenna demultiplexing detector module 214. The feedback generation module 222 can first determine a first pre-relative value between the input SNR and the first reference value, and a second pre-relative value between the output SNR and the second reference value; then, based on the combination of the first pre-relative value and the second pre-relative value, determine the relative value. Various ways of determining the relative value between the detection state information set associated with at least one transmission block portion and one or more associated reference values are possible.

[0044] Another aspect of the detection state information type is the relative value between the detection state information set associated with the at least one transmission block portion of the current transmission and the second detection state information set associated with the second at least one transmission block portion sent in the previous transmission. Similar to the subsequent transmission, the previous transmission includes a transmission from the second node 104 to the first node 102 (or another communication in the communication system 100) that occurred or was performed before the current transmission of the at least one transmission block portion transmitted by the second node 104 to the first node 102. In various embodiments, the previous transmission is a direct previous transmission, or a transmission performed by the second node 104 directly before the current transmission (for example, there is no transmission between the previous transmission and the current transmission). In other embodiments, the previous transmission is a transmission performed before the current transmission, but not a direct previous transmission (for example, one or more transmissions are performed between the previous transmission and the current transmission). In addition, in various embodiments, the previous transmission includes the earliest transmission or the earliest transmission instance, which is the transmission of the at least one transmission block portion received by the first node 102 before any retransmission of the at least one transmission block portion. The second at least one transmission block portion can be the same as the at least one transmission block portion of the current transmission (for example, the same bit sequence) or different (for example, a different bit sequence). In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a first detection state information value based on one or more values of one or more parameters of the currently transmitted detection state information set, and may also determine a second detection state information value based on one or more values of one or more parameters of the previously transmitted detection state information set. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine a relative value between the first detection state information value and the second detection state information value. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first detection state information value and the second detection state information value.

[0045] In addition, for an embodiment in which the feedback generation module 222 is configured to generate a message according to the detection state information type, the message may indicate the proximity of one or more detection state information parameters to one or more target values or optimal values, which may be indicated by one or more relative values indicated in the detection state information value or message. After receiving the message, the second node 104 may analyze the proximity as indicated in the message. The closer one or more detection state information parameters are to one or more target values, the second node 104 may determine to reduce one or more amounts of one or more transmission resources for subsequent transmission (e.g., reduce the amount of bandwidth or the duration of transmission, etc.). Thus, transmission resources may be saved and throughput may be improved. In addition, the farther one or more detection state information parameters are from one or more target values, the second node 104 may determine to increase one or more amounts of one or more transmission resources for subsequent transmission (e.g., increase the amount of bandwidth or the duration of transmission, etc.). Typically, by adding such feedback of the detection state information, the second node 104 may quickly adapt to channel changes and may reduce the number of transmissions including retransmissions.

[0046] One aspect of a transmission resource type is a transmission resource set for subsequent transmissions. As previously described, a transmission resource set includes at least one transmission resource. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be configured to convert one or more transmission resources of a transmission resource set into a number of transmission resources, which indicates or represents a transmission resource set, or another aspect of a transmission resource type. For at least some embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be configured to use one or more values of one or more transmission resources as one or more inputs of a predetermined formula or algorithm, and using the formula or algorithm, calculate or determine the number of transmission resources as a function of the input. In addition, in various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be configured to determine the number of transmission resources based on a signaling configuration of a physical layer (PHY).

[0047] Another aspect of the transmission resource type is a relative value between a first transmission resource set for a current transmission of at least one transmission block portion and a second transmission resource set for a subsequent transmission of a second at least one transmission block portion. The second at least one transmission block portion may be the same (e.g., the same bit sequence) or different (e.g., a different bit sequence) as the at least one transmission block portion of the current transmission. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a first number of transmission resources based on the first transmission resource set for the current transmission, and may also determine a second number of transmission resources based on the second transmission resource set for the subsequent transmission. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine a relative value between the first number of transmission resources and the second number of transmission resources. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first number of transmission resources and the second number of transmission resources.

[0048] Another aspect of the transmission resource type is a relative value between a first transmission resource set for a current transmission of at least one transmission block portion and a second transmission resource set for a previous transmission of a second at least one transmission block portion. The second at least one transmission block portion may be the same (e.g., the same bit sequence) or different (e.g., a different bit sequence) as the at least one transmission block portion of the current transmission. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a first number of transmission resources based on the first transmission resource set of the current transmission, and may also determine a second number of transmission resources based on the second transmission resource set of the previous transmission. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine a relative value between the first number of transmission resources and the second number of transmission resources. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first number of transmission resources and the second number of transmission resources.

[0049] Another aspect of the transmission resource type is a relative value between a first transmission resource set used for an earliest transmission of at least one transmission block portion and a second transmission resource set used for a subsequent transmission of the same at least one transmission block portion. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a first number of transmission resources based on the first transmission resource set for the earliest transmission, and may also determine a second number of transmission resources based on the second transmission resource set for the subsequent transmission. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine a relative value between the first number of transmission resources and the second number of transmission resources. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first number of transmission resources and the second number of transmission resources.

[0050] One aspect of the coded modulation scheme type is a coded modulation scheme set for subsequent transmission. As previously described, the coded modulation scheme set includes at least one parameter of the coded modulation scheme. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 can be configured to convert one or more parameters of the coded modulation scheme set into a coded modulation scheme value that indicates or represents the coded modulation scheme set, or another aspect of the coded modulation scheme type. For at least some embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 can be configured to use one or more values of the parameters of the coded modulation scheme set as one or more inputs of a predetermined formula or algorithm, and use the formula or algorithm to calculate or determine the coded modulation scheme value as a function of the input.

[0051] Another aspect of the coding modulation scheme type is a relative value between a coding modulation scheme set used for a current transmission of at least one transport block portion and a second coding modulation scheme set used for a subsequent transmission of a second at least one transport block portion. The second at least one transport block portion may be the same (e.g., the same bit sequence) or different (e.g., a different bit sequence) as the at least one transport block portion currently transmitted. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a first coding modulation scheme value based on the first coding modulation scheme set for the current transmission, and may also determine a second coding modulation scheme value based on the second coding modulation scheme set for the subsequent transmission. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine a relative value between the first coding modulation scheme value and the second coding modulation scheme value. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first coding modulation scheme value and the second coding modulation scheme value.

[0052] Another aspect of the coded modulation scheme type is a relative value between a first coded modulation scheme set for a current transmission of at least one transport block portion and a second coded modulation scheme set for a previous transmission of a second at least one transport block portion. The second at least one transport block portion may be the same (e.g., the same bit sequence) or different (e.g., a different bit sequence) as the at least one transport block portion of the current transmission. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a first coded modulation scheme value based on the first coded modulation scheme set of the current transmission, and may also determine a second coded modulation scheme value based on the second coded modulation scheme set of the previous transmission. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine a relative value between the first coded modulation scheme value and the second coded modulation scheme value. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first coded modulation scheme value and the second coded modulation scheme value.

[0053] Another aspect of the coded modulation scheme type is a relative value between a coded modulation scheme set used for an earliest transmission of at least one transport block portion and a second coded modulation scheme set used for a subsequent transmission of the same at least one transport block portion. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a first coded modulation scheme value based on the first coded modulation scheme set for the earliest transmission, and may also determine a second coded modulation scheme value based on the second coded modulation scheme set for the subsequent transmission. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine a relative value between the first coded modulation scheme value and the second coded modulation scheme value. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first coded modulation scheme value and the second coded modulation scheme value.

[0054] One aspect of the channel state information type is a channel state information set, which includes at least one channel state information parameter associated with the reception of at least one transport block portion. The channel state information parameter may include one or more (e.g., one or a series of) channel SNRs; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) pilot signal received powers; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) noise powers; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) interference powers; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) input SNRs of the channel estimation module 212; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) output SNRs of the channel estimation module 212; at least one output signal statistic of the channel estimation module 212; at least one input signal statistic of the channel estimation module 212; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) channel quality indicators; one or more (e.g., one or a series of) precoding matrix indicators; or one or more (e.g., one or a series of) rank indicators. In addition, in various embodiments, the statistic of the input signal or the output signal is a mean, a variance, a second-order moment, or a higher-order moment than a second-order moment. Additionally, in various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 can be configured to determine one or more channel state information parameters from one or more reference signals or one or more pilot signals. Example reference signals include, but are not limited to, a demodulation reference signal, a channel state information reference signal, a phase tracking reference signal, and / or a sounding reference signal.

[0055] In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be configured to convert one or more channel state information parameters of a channel state information set into a channel state information value that indicates or represents the channel state information set, or another aspect of the channel state information type. For at least some embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be configured to use one or more values of one or more channel state information parameters as one or more inputs to a predetermined formula or algorithm, and using the formula or algorithm, calculate or determine the channel state information value as a function of the inputs. In addition, in various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may be configured to determine the channel state information value based on a signaling configuration of a protocol layer higher than the physical layer (e.g., a MAC layer, an RLC layer, or a PDCP layer), and / or a parameter for determining the channel state information value.

[0056] Another aspect of the channel state information type is a relative value between a channel state information set associated with at least one transmission block portion and one or more related reference values. In addition, in a specific example, the relative value may be or correspond to a ratio or difference between a channel state information value or a channel state information parameter value and a related reference value. In some embodiments, after the first node 102 receives at least one transmission block portion, the feedback generation module 222 may determine the channel state information value, and then determine the relative value between the channel state information value and the related reference value. For illustration, it is assumed that the channel state information parameter includes a channel SNR, a pilot signal received power, and a channel quality indicator information. The feedback generation module 222 may determine the channel state information value based on the channel SNR, the pilot signal received power, and the channel quality indicator information, and then determine the relative value between the channel state information value and the reference value. In other embodiments, after the first node 102 receives at least one transmission block portion, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a plurality of pre-relative values, each pre-relative value being between a corresponding channel state information parameter and a related reference value, and then determine the relative value based on a combination of a plurality of pre-relative values. For illustration, as described above, it is assumed that the channel state information parameters include channel SNR, pilot signal received power, and channel quality indicator information. Feedback generation module 222 may first determine a first pre-relative value between the channel SNR and a first reference value, a second pre-relative value between the pilot signal received power and a second reference value, and a third pre-relative value between the channel quality indicator information and a third reference value, and then determine a relative value based on a combination of the first pre-relative value, the second pre-relative value, and the third pre-relative value. Various ways of determining a relative value between a channel state information set associated with at least one transport block portion and one or more associated reference values are possible.

[0057] Another aspect of the channel state information type is a relative value between a first channel state information set for a current transmission of at least one transport block portion and a second channel state information set for a subsequent transmission of a second at least one transport block portion. The second at least one transport block portion may be the same as (e.g., the same bit sequence) or different (e.g., a different bit sequence) than the at least one transport block portion currently transmitted. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a first channel state information value based on the first channel state information set currently transmitted, and may also determine a second channel state information value based on the second channel state information set subsequently transmitted. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine a relative value between the first channel state information value and the second channel state information value. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first channel state information value and the second channel state information value.

[0058] Another aspect of the channel state information type is a relative value between a first channel state information set for a current transmission of at least one transport block portion and a second channel state information set for a previous transmission of a second at least one transport block portion. The second at least one transport block portion may be the same (e.g., the same bit sequence) or different (e.g., a different bit sequence) as the at least one transport block portion currently transmitted. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 may determine a first channel state information value based on the first channel state information set currently transmitted, and may also determine a second channel state information value based on the second channel state information set previously transmitted. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine a relative value between the first channel state information value and the second channel state information value. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first channel state information value and the second channel state information value.

[0059] One aspect of the error rate type is an error rate set, which includes at least one error rate associated with the reception of at least one transport block portion. A given error rate can be one of two types, including a bit error rate and a transport block portion error rate. In general, as used herein, a bit error rate is or corresponds to the ratio between the number of bit errors of at least one transport portion and the total number of bits of at least one transport block portion. A transport block portion error rate is or corresponds to the ratio between the number of erroneous transport block portions and the total number of transport block portions of a transport block. If (e.g., by the decoding module 218) a transport block is detected to have a threshold number of bit errors, or if its associated bit error rate exceeds a threshold, the transport block is an erroneous transport block. Non-limiting examples of transport block portion error rates include code block error rates corresponding to transport blocks including or organized into a predetermined number of code blocks, or code block group error rates corresponding to transport blocks including or organized into a predetermined number of code block groups. Other types of transport block error rates are also possible, depending on how a given transport block is divided or organized into multiple parts. Therefore, for embodiments in which the at least one transport block portion of the transmission includes a plurality of transport block portions, the decoding module 218 may determine the transport block portion error rates for the plurality of transport block portions.

[0060] Another aspect of the error rate type includes one or more relative values between a first error rate set for a current transmission of at least one transport block portion and a second error rate set for a previous transmission of a second at least one transport block portion. The second at least one transport block portion may be the same (e.g., the same bit sequence) or different (e.g., a different bit sequence) as the at least one transport block portion of the current transmission. In various embodiments, the feedback generation module 222 (e.g., through communication with the decoding module 218) may determine the first error rate set based on the reception of the at least one transport block portion of the current transmission, and may also determine the second error rate set based on the reception of the second at least one transport block portion of the previous transmission. Each of the first error rate set and the second error rate set may include at least one of a bit error rate or a transport block portion error rate. The feedback generation module 222 may then determine one or more relative values between the first error rate set and the second error rate set. In a specific example, the relative value is or corresponds to a ratio or difference between the first error rate set and the second error rate set. In addition, in various embodiments, a given relative value may be between two error rates of the same error rate type. For example, one relative value may be between a first bit error rate of a first error rate set and a second bit error rate of a second error rate set, and a second relative value may be between a first transport block partial error rate of the first error rate set and a second transport block partial error rate of the second error rate set.

[0061] Figure 3 A flow chart of a feedback messaging method 300 for wireless communication is shown. At block 302, the first node 102 receives at least a portion of a currently transmitted transport block from the second node 104. At block 304, the first node 102 (e.g., using the feedback generation module 222) may generate a message to be sent to the second node 104. The message indicates a detection result of receiving at least one transport block portion, and additional information indicating to the second node 104 how to set one or more parameters for subsequent transmissions to the first node 102. As previously described, the additional information indicated in the message may include one or more aspects of one or more message types based on which the first node 102 generates the message. For illustration, if the first node 102 is to generate a message based on a detection status information status type, and one aspect of the detection status information status type is a detection status information value associated with the reception of at least one transport block portion, the first node 102 generates a message indicating the detection status information value.

[0062] For at least some example embodiments, the first node 102 may determine or select a message type from a plurality of message types based on which the message is generated. For embodiments in which the first node 102 generates the message based on a combination of two or more message types, the first node 102 may determine or select two or more message types from the plurality of message types. In other example embodiments, the second node 104 (rather than the first node 102) determines or selects a message type or a combination of two or more message types from the plurality of message types, and sends the selected information to the first node 102 so that the first node 102 knows which one or more message types are based on which the message is generated. Various ways are possible for the second node 104 to send information of one or more message types to the first node before, during (as part of), or after a current transmission.

[0063] Additionally or optionally, the first node 102 may determine or select one or more aspects from a plurality of aspects for each of the one or more message types based on which the message is generated. As described above, the set of one or more aspects of a given message type may include at least one of the following: a value (e.g., a detection state information value, a number of transmission resources, a coding modulation mode value, a channel state information value, or an error rate), a relative value between a value and a reference value, a relative value between a first value currently transmitted and a second value subsequently transmitted, a relative value between a first value currently transmitted and a second value transmitted earliest, or a relative value between a first value currently transmitted and a second value previously transmitted. In other example embodiments, the second node 104 (rather than the first node 102) determines or selects one or more aspects from a plurality of aspects for each of the one or more message types based on which the message is generated. For such an embodiment, the second node 104 sends information of the determined / selected one or more aspects to the first node 102 so that the first node 102 knows which one or more aspects are included in the additional information indicated in the message.

[0064] Additionally or optionally, the first node 102 may determine or select one or more message parameters on which the value of a given message type depends for each message type on which the message is generated. As described above, example message parameters include a detection state information parameter for determining a detection state information value, a transmission resource for determining a number of transmission resources, a coding modulation mode parameter for determining a coding modulation mode value, a channel state information parameter for determining a channel state information value, or a bit error rate or a transmission block partial error rate for determining an error rate. In other example embodiments, the second node 104 (rather than the first node 102) determines or selects one or more message parameters for each message type on which the message is generated. For such an embodiment, the second node 104 sends information about the determined / selected one or more message parameters to the first node 102 so that the first node 102 knows which message parameters are used to determine the one or more values of each message type on which the message is generated.

[0065] In addition, in various embodiments, the first node 102 or the second node 104 may select or determine a message type, aspect, and / or message parameter based on the number of transmission instances. Conversely, for different numbers of transmission instances, the first node 102 or the second node 104 may determine the same or different message types, aspects, message parameters, or a combination thereof. For example, for a current transmission associated with a first number of transmission instances, the first node 102 may determine to generate a first message based on a detection state information type, a channel state information type, and an error rate type, and for a subsequent transmission associated with a second number of transmission instances, the first node 102 may determine to generate a second message based on a channel state information type and a coding modulation type. For another example, for a current transmission associated with a first number of transmission instances, the first node 102 may determine an indication value (e.g., a detection state information value or a channel state information value), and for a subsequent transmission associated with a second number of transmission instances, the first node 102 may determine to indicate a relative value. For another example, for a current transmission associated with a first transmission instance number, the first node 102 may indicate a coding rate, a modulation type, and a redundancy version in a first message, and for a subsequent transmission associated with a second transmission instance number, the first node may indicate a coding rate and a modulation type, but not a redundancy version, in a second message. For embodiments in which the first node 102 determines a value for a given message type (e.g., a detection state information value or a channel state information value) using a formula or algorithm, the transmission instance number may determine a message parameter that the first node 102 will use as an input to the formula or algorithm to determine the value.

[0066] Thus, for different transmission instances, the first node 102 may select different message types, different combinations of message types, different aspects or different combinations of aspects of a given message type, or different message parameters or combinations of message parameters of a given aspect. In turn, through multiple transmissions, the first node 102 may dynamically feedback multiple messages, each message including different additional information corresponding to different message types, aspects and / or message parameters and / or different combinations of message types, aspects and / or message parameters. This dynamic feedback capability may provide the first node 102 with flexibility in the degree of enhancement of the type of information that it may indicate in a feedback message when responding to a received transmission block, which in turn may improve transmission efficiency and / or reduce the number of subsequent transmissions (including retransmissions).

[0067] In addition, in various embodiments, first node 102 may generate or determine a message value to be included in the message indicating the detection result and the additional information. The message value determined by first node 102 may be one of a plurality of possible message values that first node 102 can select or choose from when generating the message. For at least some example embodiments, the message value is an M-bit binary value, where M is one or more. Thus, for a given message, first node 102 may select from a plurality of 2 M A binary value is determined from possible binary values to indicate the detection result and additional information.

[0068] In addition, in various embodiments, the value of M may vary and may be the same or different in different transmissions. Additionally or alternatively, in various embodiments, the first node 102 may select the value of M from a plurality of values of M. In other embodiments, the second node 104 (rather than the first node 102) selects the value of M from a plurality of values of M. For such embodiments, the second node 104 may send the value of M it determines or selects to the first node 102. Thus, for different messages generated by the first node 102, the value of M determined or selected by the first node 102 or the second node 104 may be the same or different.

[0069] Furthermore, in some example embodiments, the value of M determined or selected by the first node 102 or the second node 104 may depend on the message type or combination of message types selected by the first node 102 for a given transmission. For example, the first node 102 may determine a first value of M for a first transmission for which the first node 102 generates a first message according to a first set of one or more message types, and may determine a second value of M for a second transmission for which the first node 102 generates a second message according to a second set of one or more message types. The first value of M and the second value of M may be the same as or different from each other, depending on the one or more message types included in each of the first set of message types and the second set of message types.

[0070] Additionally or alternatively, the value of M determined or selected by the first node 102 or the second node 104 may depend on (or be a function of) the number of transmission instances. Thus, the first node 102 or the second node 104 may determine the number of transmission instances for the current transmission and then select the value of M from a plurality of values of M corresponding to the determined number of transmissions. In certain embodiments, the first node 102 may use different values of M for different retransmissions of a given at least one transmission block portion.

[0071] Additionally or alternatively, the first node 102 may determine the value of M according to the signaling configuration of a given protocol layer. In various embodiments, in the case where the message is generated according to the detection state information type, the first node 102 determines M according to the signaling configuration of a layer higher than the physical layer. Additionally or alternatively, in the case where the message is generated according to the transmission resource type, the first node 102 determines M according to the signaling configuration of the physical layer. Additionally or alternatively, in the case where the message is generated according to the channel state information type, the first node 102 determines M according to the signaling configuration of the physical layer.

[0072] In addition, for at least some example embodiments, each message value (e.g., each binary value) in the plurality of message values is associated with one or more ranges, which in turn are each associated with a corresponding message type. For embodiments in which the first node 102 determines a value (e.g., a detection state information value, a number of transmission resources, a coding modulation mode value, a channel state information value, or an error rate value) or a relative value associated with a given message type, the first node 102 may determine a range from the plurality of ranges in which the value is located, and then determine a message value corresponding to the determined range.

[0073] Additionally or optionally, in various embodiments, each of the plurality of message values is associated with one or more parameters of a given message type, such that different message values are associated with different parameters. If the first node 102 wishes the second node 104 to set a certain parameter for subsequent transmissions, the first node 102 may select a message value associated with the certain parameter to be included in the message. For illustration, in an example where the first node 102 generates a message according to a coding modulation type, the first message value may indicate a coding rate, and the second message value may indicate a modulation type. If the first node 102 wishes the second node 104 to set the coding rate in subsequent transmissions, the first node 102 selects the first message value and includes it in the message. If the first node 102 wishes the second node 104 to set the modulation type in subsequent transmissions, the first node selects the second message value and includes it in the message.

[0074] Additionally or alternatively, for at least some example embodiments, first node 102 may select the message value from a lookup table that first node 102 has access to (e.g., by storing it in memory 112). The following table illustrates a non-limiting example of a lookup table that first node 102 may use to determine the message value.

[0075] Message value (M=3) Test results The relative value R of a given message type 000 Correct answer R≤r1 001 Correct answer r1<R≤r2 011 Correct answer r2<R≤r3 010 Correct answer r3<R 110 Error response R≤r4 111 Error response r4<R≤r5 101 Error response r5<R≤r6 100 Error response r6<R

[0076] Table 1: Lookup table for message values

[0077] In the example shown in Table 1, M is 3, so the first node 102 has eight possible binary message values, from which to select the binary message value to be included in the message to be sent back to the second node 102. In addition, as shown in the table, each message value is associated with a detection result (including a correct response and an error response), and additional information corresponding to a range of multiple ranges corresponding to the relative value R of a given message type. After determining the detection result (i.e., whether the first node successfully received or unsuccessfully received at least one transmission block portion) and the relative value R, the first node 102 then selects a 3-bit binary value from the lookup table, which is associated with the detection result that matches the determined detection result and is associated with the range in which the relative value R is located. The first node 102 then includes the selected 3-bit value in the message.

[0078] As described above, Table 1 above merely provides a non-limiting example of a lookup table, and several other types of lookup tables are possible, including those for M that is different from (less than or greater than) 3 and / or additional information indicating multiple message types. Additionally or alternatively, in various embodiments, the first node 102 may utilize or access multiple lookup tables. For example, the first node 102 may use different lookup tables for different values of M. When the first node 102 is to select a message value to be included in a message, the first node 102 may determine (or have determined) the value of M from multiple possible values of M, and then use a lookup table associated with the determined value of M in the multiple lookup tables.

[0079] Additionally or alternatively, using one or more lookup tables, the first node 102 can determine the value to be included in the message based on a formula. Depending on the formula, the first node 102 can then convert the output or result of the formula into an M-bit binary value.

[0080] As a non-limiting example, in various embodiments where the first node 102 generates a message according to a channel state information type, the first node 102 may determine a channel state information value S and then determine a T value based on the channel state information value S and a given M value according to the following mathematical formula:

[0081]

[0082] Where Δ is a quantization factor. After determining T, the first node 102 may then convert T into its M-bit binary representation.

[0083] As another non-limiting example, in various embodiments where the first node 102 generates a message indicating a bit error rate B according to an error rate type, the first node 102 may determine a value of the bit error rate B and then determine a value of T based on the bit error rate B and a given value of M according to the following mathematical formula:

[0084]

[0085] Wherein, Δ is a quantization factor. After determining T, the first node 102 can then convert T into its M-bit binary representation. Formula (1) and formula (2) are merely examples, and other formulas (including those for message types other than channel state information and error rate message types) are also possible.

[0086] As described above, the message value determined by the first node 102 may be included in the message as part of the message generated at block 304.

[0046] At block 306, after generating the message, the first node 102 may send the message to the second node 104.

[0087] Figure 4 A flow chart of another feedback messaging method 400 for wireless communication is shown. At block 402, the second node 104 may perform a current transmission by sending at least one transmission block portion to the first node 102. At block 404, the second node 104 may receive a message associated with the at least one transmission block portion from the first node 102. The message indicates a detection result of receiving the at least one transmission block portion, and additional information indicating to the second node 104 how to set one or more parameters for subsequent transmissions to the first node 102. As previously described, the additional information indicated in the message may include one or more aspects of one or more message types according to which the first node 102 generated the message. In a specific example embodiment, the message includes a value indicating the detection result and the additional information, such as an M-bit binary value.

[0088] At block 406, the second node 104 may set one or more parameters based on the message and / or the value included in the message. For example, the second node 104 may analyze the value and, based on the analysis of the value, determine whether to perform a retransmission of at least one transmission block portion and / or how to set one or more parameters for subsequent transmissions, non-limiting examples of which include a transmit beam, a transmit power, one or more transmission resources, or one or more parameters of a coding modulation scheme. At block 408, the second node may perform a subsequent transmission by sending a second at least one transmission block portion based on the setting performed at block 406. As described above, the subsequent transmission may be a retransmission of the at least one transmission block portion sent at block 402, or a transmission of a new or different at least one transmission block portion.

[0089] As described above, by indicating additional information in addition to the detection result in the feedback message sent by the first node 102 to the second node 104, and then setting one or more parameters for subsequent transmission by the second node 104, the reliability and efficiency of the wireless system can be improved.
