[0047] Hereinafter, the present embodiment will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0048] Figure 1 is a perspective view of a vehicle 1 on which a vehicle lamp body device of the present embodiment is mounted.
[0049] As shown in Figure 1 , a trunk lid 2, a back window 3, and a garnish 5 are provided at the rear of the vehicle 1 such as an automobile.
[0050] The back window 3 is disposed between the trunk lid 2 and a roof panel 4 that forms a roof of the vehicle 1 in the vehicle height direction of the vehicle 1. The garnish 5 is provided between the upper edge of the back window 3 and the roof panel 4. The garnish 5 is a long plate-shaped member that extends along the entire upper edge of the back window 3. A brake lamp 10 is provided at substantially the center in the vehicle width direction of the garnish 5. The brake lamp 10 is a so-called high brake lamp. The brake lamp 10 is housed in a recessed portion 6 of the garnish 5, and an opening 7 of the recessed portion 6 is closed by a lens 11. The recessed portion 6 is a lamp cover of the brake lamp 10, and the opening 7 is an exit opening of light of the brake lamp 10.
[0051] The brake lamp 10 corresponds to an example of a lamp body device for a vehicle. The brake lamp 10 is lit by being energized in accordance with a depression operation of a brake pedal or the like, and functions as a stop lamp that reports a braking state to a following vehicle or the like.
[0052] Figure 2 is a perspective view that shows an internal configuration of the brake lamp 10.
[0053] The recess 6 of the garnish 5 houses a lamp unit 12 that constitutes a light emitting portion of the brake lamp 10. The lamp unit 12 is provided with a circuit board 20. The circuit board 20 is disposed at substantially the center in the vehicle width direction of the vehicle 1.
[0054] Three LEDs 22 and a drive circuit or the like that drives these LEDs 22 are surface-mounted on the surface of the circuit board 20. The circuit board 20 functions as a base for the brake lamp 10. The LEDs 22 are, for example, light emitting elements of a COB (Chips on Board) type or an SMD (Surface Mount Device) type.
[0055] The LEDs 22 are provided with first LEDs 24 and second LEDs 26. The first LEDs 24 are disposed at substantially the center in the length direction of the circuit board 20, and the second LEDs 26 are disposed at both ends in the length direction of the circuit board 20. In addition, the first LEDs 24 are disposed on the front side of the vehicle 1 in a direction orthogonal to the length direction of the circuit board 20, and each of the second LEDs 26 is disposed on the rear side of the vehicle 1, that is, the opening 7 side, in a direction orthogonal to the length direction of the circuit board 20. These LEDs 22 function as first light sources and second light sources of the brake lamp 10.
[0056] A first light guide rod 30 is joined to the upper surface of the first LED 24. The first light guide rod 30 is formed of, for example, a transparent resin or the like, and is a long rod-shaped light guide body whose cross section is circular and solid. The first light guide rod 30 is a light guide body called a so-called light guide that guides light incident to one end portion to the other end portion by internal reflection. The first light guide rod 30 guides light emitted from the first LED 24 by internal reflection, thereby guiding the light over the entire length of the first light guide rod 30. That is, the first light guide rod 30 has a light path in the solid interior.
[0057] The first light guide rod 30 is joined to the first LED 24 by covering the upper surface of the first LED 24 with a joining end 32 that is one end portion. A pair of leg portions 33 is provided in the first light guide rod 30 so as to branch from both sides of the joining end 32 in the front-rear direction of the vehicle 1. The leg portions 33 are joined to the upper surface of the circuit board 20, and support the first light guide rod 30.
[0058] The first light guide rod 30 is provided with a branch portion 34 that branches in two directions along the vehicle width direction after extending upward from the connecting end 32. The branch portion 34 is formed in a V-shape as viewed in the front-rear direction of the vehicle 1.
[0059] Thus, in the light unit 12, the light amount of the first LED 24 can be distributed substantially uniformly to the first light guide rod 30 that branches in the vehicle width direction.
[0060] A reflection plate 35 is provided on the front portion side of the vehicle 1 of the branch portion 34. The reflection plate 35 functions as a light reflection plate that reflects light leaking from the branch portion 34 toward the opening 7.
[0061] Similarly, a branch portion lens 37 is provided on the rear portion side of the vehicle 1 of the branch portion 34. The branch portion lens 37 scatters light leaking from the branch portion 34 toward the opening 7. That is, the branch portion lens 37 functions as a light diffusion lens that diffuses light emitted from the branch portion 34.
[0062] Thus, in the branch portion 34 formed in a V-shape, a decrease in the amount of light emitted toward the opening 7 can be suppressed. In addition, a position where a decrease in the light amount occurs in the entire length direction of the brake lamp 10 can be suppressed.
[0063] The first light guide rod 30 branched at the branch portion 34 extends outward of both ends of the circuit board 20. Hereinafter, the first light guide rod 30 branched at the branch portion 34 and extending outward of the circuit board 20 will be referred to as a branch light guide rod 36. Each branch light guide rod 36 is also a long member having a substantially circular cross section, like the first light guide rod 30.
[0064] Light emitted from the first LED 24 and guided to the first light guide rod 30 is reflected by a reflection surface 38 of each branch light guide rod 36, so as to be reflected at an angle smaller than the critical angle with respect to a surface opposite to the opening 7, whereby the light is emitted from an exit surface 39 of the branch light guide rod 36 opposite to the opening 7.
[0065] The reflection surface 38 is provided with, for example, a plurality of V-shaped grooves, a grating, or the like, which are cutout structures.
[0066] Further, in the reflection surface 38 of each branch light guide rod 36, a portion from the branch portion 34 to a position adjacent to each second LED 26 is provided with a plurality of cutout structures at a narrower interval than a portion extending outward of the circuit board 20 from the position adjacent to the second LED 26.
[0067] A second light guide rod 40 is attached to the upper surface of each second LED 26. Like the first light guide rod 30, each second light guide rod 40 is a circular, solid, elongated light guide made of transparent resin or the like. That is, like the first light guide rod 30, the second light guide rod 40 has a light path within its solid interior.
[0068] In this embodiment, the second light guide rod 40 is formed with a diameter larger than that of the first light guide rod 30.
[0069] Each second light guide rod 40 is connected to the second LED 26 by covering the upper surface of the second LED 26 through a connecting end 42, which serves as one end. Each second light guide rod 40 extends upward in an arched shape from the connecting end 42. The outer peripheral surface of the arched portion of each second light guide rod 40 is formed in a stepped shape. Multiple planes facing each other in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle 1 are formed in the arched portion of the second light guide rod 40.
[0070] After being bent into an arch shape, each of the second light guide rods 40 extends in opposite directions toward the outer ends of the circuit board 20 along the width direction of the vehicle 1.
[0071] Figure 3 This is a front view showing the junction 50 of the first light guide rod 30 and the second light guide rod 40.
[0072] The following describes one branch light guide 36 and one second light guide 40. The other branch light guide 36 and the other second light guide 40 have the same structure.
[0073] like Figure 3 As shown, on the outside of the circuit board 20, the branch light guide 36 and the second light guide 40 extending in the same direction are arranged to overlap in the light emission direction when viewed from the opening 7 side.
[0074] That is, when viewed from the opening 7 side, a branch light guide 36 is arranged behind the second light guide 40.
[0075] Figure 4 This is a top view showing the junction 50 of the first light guide rod 30 and the second light guide rod 40.
[0076] like Figure 4 As shown, the branch light guide 36 and the second light guide 40 extend along the width direction of the vehicle 1 on the outer sides of both ends of the circuit board 20 with a predetermined length, and then join at the confluence position X to make the light paths converge. The part where the convergence begins is designated as the confluence part 50.
[0077] The exit surface 39 of the branch light guide 36 and the opposing surface 46 of the second light guide 40, which is opposite to the exit surface 39, are joined. The joining surface is formed as a plane parallel to the height direction of the vehicle 1.
[0078] Therefore, the light emitted from the exit surface 39 of the branch light guide 36 enters the interior of the second light guide 40 from the opposing surface 46 and exits from the surface of the second light guide 40 located on the opposite side of the opposing surface 46. Thus, the light emitted from the exit surface 39 of the branch light guide 36 is not blocked by the second light guide 40 and can be emitted from the opening 7 as the illumination light of the brake light 10.
[0079] Hereinafter, the surface of the second light guide 40 located on the opposite side of the opposing surface 46 will be designated as the emission surface 44.
[0080] Figure 5 yes Figure 4 VV sectional view. In Figure 5 In the diagram, for ease of explanation, the exit surface 44 is represented by a double-dotted line. Additionally, in... Figure 5 In the middle, dots are marked in the cross section of the confluence part 50 to indicate the direction.
[0081] In the confluence portion 50, the branch light guide 36 and the second light guide 40 are joined, and the light paths converge, having a predetermined length along the width direction of the vehicle 1. A reflective surface 38, continuous with the branch light guide 36, is formed in the confluence portion 50. Similarly, an exiting surface 44, continuous with the second light guide 40, is formed in the confluence portion 50.
[0082] The light emitted from the first LED 24 and guided by the first light guide rod 30, and the light emitted from the second LED 26 and guided by the second light guide rod 40, are reflected by the reflective surface 38 when they reach the confluence portion 50. The reflected light R, which is the light reflected by the reflective surface 38, is reflected at an angle less than the critical angle relative to the surface opposite the opening 7, and thus, it is emitted from the exit surface 44 of the confluence portion 50 to the outside of the confluence portion 50.
[0083] That is, in the confluence section 50, the optical paths of the first light guide rod 30 and the second light guide rod 40 are merged into one.
[0084] A connecting portion 52 is provided in the confluence portion 50, which serves as a connection between the exiting surface 39 and the opposing surface 46. For example... Figure 5 As shown, the height dimension of the merging part 50 is reduced at the connecting part 52 in the vehicle height direction of the vehicle 1.
[0085] Figure 6 yes Figure 4 Sectional view VI-VI. In Figure 6 In the middle, dots are marked in the cross section of the integrally formed part 60.
[0086] Along the length of the branch light guide 36 and the second light guide 40, after merging at the confluence portion 50, an integral forming portion 60 is formed, which is connected in a more integrated manner.
[0087] The upper and lower surfaces of the integrally formed portion 60 are formed as continuous planar surfaces along the longitudinal direction of the vehicle 1, thereby forming a generally wedge-shaped cross section of the integrally formed portion 60.
[0088] The integrally formed portion 60 is formed from the confluence portion 50 to the end of the opening 7 in the vehicle width direction of the vehicle 1.
[0089] A branch light guide 36 and a reflective surface 38 continuous with the confluence portion 50 are formed in the integral forming portion 60. Similarly, a second light guide 40 and an emission surface 44 continuous with the confluence portion 50 are formed in the integral forming portion 60.
[0090] The light emitted from the first LED 24 and guided by the first light guide rod 30, and the light emitted from the second LED 26 and guided by the second light guide rod 40, are reflected by the reflective surface 38 when they reach the integral forming part 60. The reflected light R, which is the light reflected by the reflective surface 38, is emitted from the exit surface 44 of the integral forming part 60 to the outside of the integral forming part 60.
[0091] That is, in the integral forming part 60, the optical paths of the first light guide rod 30 and the second light guide rod 40 are merged into one.
[0092] Furthermore, in the integrally formed portion 60, the cross-section is formed into a roughly wedge shape as described above, therefore the connecting portion 52 is not provided. Thus, in the integrally formed portion 60, the reflected light R can be emitted more efficiently.
[0093] Figure 7 yes Figure 4 Sectional view VII-VII. In Figure 7 In the middle, dots are marked in the cross section of the confluence part 50 to indicate the direction.
[0094] like Figure 7 As shown, the confluence portion 50 and the integrally formed portion 60 have the same reflective surface 38 and emission surface 44.
[0095] In addition, the reflective surface 38 is continuous with the branch light guide 36, and the emission surface 44 is continuous with the second light guide 40.
[0096] Therefore, in the lamp unit 12, significant changes in light distribution between the confluence portion 50 and the integrally formed portion 60 can be suppressed. Consequently, in the brake lamp 10, the light distribution in the length direction does not change significantly, achieving more uniform light emission.
[0097] Next, the function of this embodiment will be explained.
[0098] The brake light 10 installed in vehicle 1 is illuminated when the brake pedal is pressed or operated, and reports the braking status to following vehicles.
[0099] In the brake light 10, the first light guide 30 and a pair of second light guides 40 guide the light emitted by the LED 22, which serves as the light source, along the length direction and direct it toward the opening 7, thereby emitting light in a linear pattern.
[0100] In this way, by using the first light guide bar 30 and each of the second light guide bars 40 to guide the light from the plurality of LEDs 22 disposed approximately at the center along the length direction of the brake lamp 10, the reduction in light intensity at both ends of the brake lamp 10 can be suppressed. Therefore, in the brake lamp 10, the reduction in light intensity can be suppressed along the entire length direction, achieving approximately uniform light distribution (emission).
[0101] In this embodiment, when viewed from the opening 7 side, the first light guide rod 30 and each of the second light guide rods 40 are arranged to overlap in the emission direction.
[0102] Therefore, it is possible to suppress significant changes in the width of the luminous surface of the brake light 10 in the height direction of the vehicle 1, which is also in the length direction of the brake light 10. As a result, the design of the brake light 10 can be improved.
[0103] Furthermore, the brake light 10 includes a converging portion 50 and an integral forming portion 60, which are formed by converging first light guide bars 30 and each second light guide bar 40 arranged overlapping in the emission direction at both ends of the brake light 10 in a solid optical path manner. In the converging portion 50 and the integral forming portion 60, the light guided by the first light guide bar 30 and the light guided by each second light guide bar 40 are emitted from the same emission surface 44.
[0104] Therefore, even when the first light guide 30 and each of the second light guides 40 are arranged one in front of the other, since the optical path becomes integrated, the loss of light guided by the first light guide 30 and the light guided by each of the second light guides 40 can be suppressed. Thus, in the brake lamp 10, the reduction in the amount of light generated along the entire length direction can be suppressed.
[0105] As explained above, according to this embodiment, the brake light 10 includes a first LED 24 disposed at the center of the circuit board 20 and second LEDs 26 disposed at both ends of the circuit board 20. The brake light 10 includes a first light guide 30 that branches the light from the first LED 24 and guides it outwards to both ends of the circuit board 20; and a second light guide 40 that guides the light from the second LEDs 26 outwards to both ends of the circuit board 20. Furthermore, in the brake light 10, the first light guide 30 and the second light guide 40 are configured to overlap in the light emission direction at both ends of the circuit board 20, causing the light paths of the first light guide 30 and the second light guide 40 to converge.
[0106] Therefore, even when the first light guide 30 and each of the second light guides 40 are arranged one in front of the other, the light path becomes integrated, thus suppressing the loss of light guided by the first light guide 30 and the light guided by each of the second light guides 40. Therefore, in the brake light 10, the reduction in light intensity along the entire length direction can be suppressed. Furthermore, in the brake light 10, a light-emitting surface that extends with approximately the same light intensity along the vehicle body direction and achieves a sense of integration with the vehicle body can be realized.
[0107] In addition, in this embodiment, a reflector 35 is disposed behind the branch 34 of the first light guide 30, and a branch lens 37 is disposed near the front of the branch 34.
[0108] Therefore, in the V-shaped branch 34, the reduction in the amount of light emitted toward the opening 7 can be suppressed. In addition, it is possible to suppress areas where the amount of light decreases along the entire length of the brake lamp 10.
[0109] In addition, in this embodiment, the shape of the emission side of the second light guide 40 before it merges with the first light guide 30 is stepped.
[0110] Therefore, multiple planes facing each other in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle 1 are formed at the arched portion of the second light guide 40. Thus, light emitted from the second LED 26 and guided by the second light guide 40 can easily be emitted to the outside of the second light guide 40.
[0111] In addition, in this embodiment, the first light guide rod 30 and the second light guide rod 40 are configured such that their cross-sectional areas are approximately the same.
[0112] Therefore, in the brake light 10, before and after the first light guide 30 and the second light guide 40 converge, the reduction in the amount of light guided by the first light guide 30 and the second light guide 40 can be suppressed. Thus, in the brake light 10, the reduction in the amount of light generated along the entire length direction can be suppressed.
[0113] In addition, in this embodiment, the first light guide rod 30 is configured such that the shape of the reflective surface is approximately the same before and after merging.
[0114] Therefore, in the lamp unit 12, significant changes in light distribution between the confluence portion 50 and the integrally formed portion 60 can be suppressed. Consequently, in the brake lamp 10, the light distribution in the length direction does not change significantly, achieving more uniform light emission.
[0115] The above-described embodiments illustrate one aspect of the present invention, and modifications and applications are possible without departing from the spirit of the invention.
[0116] For example, in the above embodiment, the opposing surface 46 is formed as a plane parallel to the height direction of the vehicle 1. However, it is not limited to this; the opposing surface 46 may also be formed as a reflective surface with multiple V-grooves, gratings, or other cut structures that resemble prism cuts. Thus, light emitted from the exit surface 39 of the branch light guide 36 enters the interior of the second light guide 40 from the opposing surface 46, and is then scattered together with the light guided by the second light guide 40 on the opposing surface 46 before exiting from the exit surface 44.
[0117] Additionally, for example, in the embodiment described above, a reflector 35 is configured to be disposed behind the branch 34 of the first light guide 30, and a branch lens 37 is disposed near the front of the branch 34. However, this is not a limitation; either the reflector 35 or the branch lens 37 may be omitted from the branch 34. Furthermore, for example, both the reflector 35 and the branch lens 37 may be omitted from the branch 34.
