Abstract

This application provides a retrieval device, a handling robot, and a method for handling items. The retrieval device includes a base; a retrieval component that can selectively extend or retract from the base; the retrieval component is configured to handle a target item by acting on its front end face when retrieving or returning the target item, wherein the front end face of the target item is the side of the target item facing the retrieval component when it is to be retrieved or returned; a drive mechanism configured to drive the retrieval component to move relative to the base, so that the retrieval component reciprocates within the target storage location and the base; and a translation component configured to drive the retrieval component to move on the base, thereby adjusting the offset distance of the retrieval component relative to the target storage location. When handling boxes, it is not necessary to insert into the gap between adjacent boxes, thereby effectively reducing the gap between adjacent boxes when storing them, and thus effectively increasing the storage density of the boxes.
