Description

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. patent application serial number 17 / 475,820, filed on September 15, 2021, entitled “SELECTIVE SATELLITE SIGNAL MEASUREMENT,” which is assigned to the assignee of this application, and the entire contents of which are hereby incorporated herein by reference for all purposes. Background Art

[0003] Wireless communication systems have evolved over several generations, including first generation analog wireless telephone service (1G), second generation (2G) digital wireless telephone service (including transitional 2.5G and 2.75G networks), third generation (3G) high-speed data wireless service with Internet capabilities, fourth generation (4G) service (e.g., Long Term Evolution (LTE) or WiMax), fifth generation (5G) service, and the like. There are many different types of wireless communication systems in use today, including cellular and personal communications service (PCS) systems. Examples of known cellular systems include the cellular analog Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS), and digital cellular systems based on code division multiple access (CDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), global system for mobile access (GSM) TDMA variants, and the like.

[0004] The fifth generation (5G) mobile standard requires higher data transmission speeds, a greater number of connections and better coverage, among other improvements. According to the Next Generation Mobile Network Alliance, the 5G standard is designed to provide data rates of tens of megabits per second to each of tens of thousands of users, with a data rate of 1 gigabit per second provided to dozens of workers on an office floor. In order to support large sensor deployments, hundreds of thousands of simultaneous connections should be supported. Therefore, the spectrum efficiency of 5G mobile communications should be significantly improved compared to the current 4G standard. In addition, signaling efficiency should be improved and latency should be significantly reduced compared to the current standard. Summary of the invention

[0039] Techniques for measuring satellite signals in the presence of interference are discussed herein. For example, a device may send one or more outbound signals (e.g., communication signals) that may generate one or more interference signals (e.g., signal harmonics, intermodulation distortion signals) at one or more interference frequencies that may interfere with an inbound satellite signal. The device may measure a portion of the satellite signal (e.g., a frequency portion or a time portion) and prohibit the measurement of another portion of the satellite signal (a frequency portion or a time portion) based on the presence or expected presence of interference. The device may determine whether there is or is expected to be interference based on the transmission time of the outbound signal (the time when the device transmits (e.g., is transmitting or is scheduled to transmit) the outbound signal). For example, the device may measure a first frequency portion of the satellite signal to find a correlation peak, without measuring a second frequency portion of the satellite signal (containing an interference signal) at the same time portion as the first frequency portion corresponding to the transmission time of the outbound signal. The correlation peak (from the correlation of the satellite signal with the reference signal) can be used to determine the arrival time of the satellite signal, which can be used to determine the location of the device. As another example, the device may blank the satellite signal (e.g., not measure any satellite signal) during the transmission time of the outbound signal. These are examples, and other examples may be implemented.

[0040] The items and / or techniques described herein may provide one or more of the following capabilities and other capabilities not mentioned. Positioning and / or time determination accuracy may be improved, for example, by measuring the interference-free portion of the satellite signal and simultaneously prohibiting the interfered portion of the satellite signal from being measured, or by blanking the satellite signal measurement based on the transmission of an outbound signal that may induce satellite signal interference without blanking the satellite signal in the presence of an outbound signal transmission that does not induce satellite signal interference. Better interference signal rejection may be provided. Selectively blanking satellite signals based on one or more sub-bands of transmitted (e.g., WWAN (wireless wide area network)) signals may help avoid processing satellite signals with interference (e.g., improving measurement accuracy and / or reducing measurement latency), while avoiding blanking SV signals based on outbound signal transmissions that will not significantly interfere with SV signals (e.g., outbound signal transmissions of WWAN signals). Other capabilities may be provided, and not every specific implementation according to the present disclosure must provide any of the capabilities discussed, let alone all of the capabilities. In addition, it is also possible to achieve the above effects in ways other than those described, and the items / techniques described may not necessarily produce the effects described.

[0041] Obtaining the location of a mobile device can be used for many applications including, for example, emergency calling, personal navigation, consumer asset tracking, locating friends or family members, etc. Positioning methods include those based on measuring radio signals transmitted from various devices or entities including satellite vehicles (SVs) and terrestrial radio sources such as base stations and access points in wireless networks.

[0042] The description herein may refer to a sequence of actions to be performed by, for example, an element of a computing device. Each action described herein can be performed by a dedicated circuit (e.g., an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC)), by program instructions being executed by one or more processors, or by a combination of the two. The sequence of actions described herein may be implemented in a non-transient computer readable medium having a corresponding set of computer instructions stored thereon that, upon execution, will cause an associated processor to perform the functionality described herein. Thus, the various aspects described herein may be implemented in a number of different forms, all of which fall within the scope of the present disclosure, including the claimed subject matter.

[0043] As used herein, the terms "user equipment" (UE) and "base station" are not dedicated to or otherwise limited to any particular radio access technology (RAT), unless otherwise specified. The communication link by which the RAN can send signals to the UE is referred to as a downlink or forward link channel (e.g., a paging channel, a control channel, a broadcast channel, a forward traffic channel, etc.). As used herein, the term "traffic channel (TCH)" may refer to an uplink / reverse or downlink / forward traffic channel.

[0046] As used herein, depending on the context, the term "cell" or "sector" may correspond to one of multiple cells of a base station or to the base station itself. The term "cell" may refer to a logical communication entity used to communicate with a base station (e.g., on a carrier), and may be associated with an identifier to distinguish adjacent cells operating via the same or different carriers (e.g., physical cell identifier (PCID), virtual cell identifier (VCID)). The illustrated connections connecting the various components in the communication system 100 include data and signaling connections, which may include additional (intermediate) components, direct or indirect physical and / or wireless connections, and / or additional networks. In addition, the components may be rearranged, combined, separated, replaced, and / or omitted depending on the desired functionality.

[0050] UE 105 may include and / or may be referred to as a device, a mobile device, a wireless device, a mobile terminal, a terminal, a mobile station (MS), a terminal (SET) enabled with secure user plane location (SUPL), or some other name. Alternatively, the location of UE 105 may be expressed as a municipal location (e.g., expressed as a postal address or a designation of a point or smaller area in a building (such as a specific room or floor)). The location of UE 105 may be expressed as an area or volume (geographically or municipally defined) within which UE 105 is expected to be located with a certain probability or confidence level (e.g., 67%, 95%, etc.). The location of the UE 105 may be expressed as a relative location including, for example, a distance and direction from a known location. The relative location may be expressed as relative coordinates (e.g., X, Y (and Z) coordinates) defined relative to a certain origin at a known location, which may be defined, for example, geographically, in municipal form, or with reference to a point, area, or volume indicated, for example, on a map, floor plan, or building plan. In the description contained herein, the use of the term location may include any of these variants unless otherwise indicated. When calculating the location of the UE, local x, y, and possibly z coordinates are typically solved, and then (if necessary) the local coordinates are converted into absolute coordinates (e.g., with respect to latitude, longitude, and altitude above or below mean sea level).

[0052] UE 105 may be configured to communicate with other entities using one or more of a variety of techniques to determine and / or provide location information for UE 105. UE 105 may be configured to be indirectly connected to one or more communication networks via one or more device-to-device (D2D) peer-to-peer (P2P) links. D2D P2P links may be supported using any suitable D2D radio access technology (RAT), such as LTE Direct (LTE-D), WiFi Direct (WiFi-D), Etc. One or more UEs in the group of UEs utilizing D2D communications may be within the geographic coverage area of a transmit / receive point (TRP), such as one or more of gNBs 110a, 110b and / or ng-eNB 114.

[0053] As mentioned, although Figure 1Nodes configured to communicate according to a 5G communication protocol are depicted, but nodes configured to communicate according to other communication protocols (such as, for example, an LTE protocol or an IEEE 802.11x protocol) may also be used. For example, in an evolved packet system (EPS) that provides LTE wireless access to UE 105, the RAN may include an evolved universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN), which may include base stations including evolved Node Bs (eNBs). The core network for the EPS may include an evolved packet core (EPC). The EPS may include the E-UTRAN plus the EPC, where the E-UTRAN corresponds to the UE 105. Figure 1 NG-RAN 135 in and the EPC corresponds to Figure 1 5GC 140 in.

[0054] Using UE-based positioning methods, UE 105 may obtain position measurements and may calculate the position of UE 105 (e.g., with the aid of assistance data received from a location server (such as LMF 120) or broadcast by gNB 110a, 110b, ng-eNB 114 or other base stations or APs). UE 105 may use SPS signal measurements to determine Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). UE 105 may provide the location of UE 105 to a server, for example, directly and / or via a base station, so that the server may provide location information to a location client.

[0055] The information provided to LMF 120 by gNB 110a, 110b and / or ng-eNB 114 using NRPPa may include timing and configuration information for directional SS or PRS transmission and location coordinates. LMF 120 may provide some or all of this information to UE 105 as assistance data in LPP (LTE Positioning Protocol) and / or NPP (New Radio Positioning Protocol) messages via NG-RAN 135 and 5GC 140.

[0056] The LPP or NPP message sent from LMF 120 to UE 105 may instruct UE 105 to do any of a variety of things, depending on the desired functionality. For example, the LPP or NPP message may include instructions for UE 105 to obtain measurements for GNSS (or A-GNSS), WLAN, E-CID, and / or OTDOA (Observed Time Difference of Arrival) (or some other positioning method).

[0057] Also refer to Figure 2UE 200 may be an example of one of UEs 105, 106, and includes a computing platform including a processor 210, a memory 211 including software (SW) 212, one or more sensors 213, a transceiver interface 214 for a transceiver 215 (which includes a wireless transceiver 240 and a wired transceiver 250), a user interface 216, a satellite positioning system (SPS) receiver 217, a camera 218, and a positioning device (PD) 219. The processor 210, the memory 211, the sensor 213, the transceiver interface 214, the user interface 216, the SPS receiver 217, the camera 218, and the positioning device 219 may be communicatively coupled to each other via a bus 220 (which may be configured, for example, for optical communication and / or electrical communication). One or more of the devices shown (e.g., one or more of the camera 218, the positioning device 219, and / or the sensor 213, etc.) may be omitted from the UE 200. The processor 210 may include one or more intelligent hardware devices, such as a central processing unit (CPU), a microcontroller, an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), etc. The processor 210 may include multiple processors, including a general / application processor 230, a digital signal processor (DSP) 231, a modem processor 232, a video processor 233, and / or a sensor processor 234. One or more of the processors 230-234 may include multiple devices (e.g., multiple processors). For example, the sensor processor 234 may include, for example, a processor for RF (radio frequency) sensing (wherein one or more (cellular) wireless signals and reflections sent are used to identify, map and / or track objects), and / or ultrasound, etc. The modem processor 232 may support dual SIM / dual connections (or even more SIMs). For example, a SIM (subscriber identity module or subscriber identity module) may be used by an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), and another SIM may be used by an end user of the UE 200 to obtain connectivity. The memory 211 is a non-transitory storage medium that may include a random access memory (RAM), a flash memory, a disk memory, and / or a read-only memory (ROM), etc. Memory 211 stores software 212, which may be processor-readable, processor-executable software code containing instructions that are configured to cause processor 210 to perform various functions described herein when executed. Alternatively, software 212 may not be directly executable by processor 210, but may be configured (e.g., when compiled and executed) to cause processor 210 to perform functions. The description herein may only refer to processor 210 performing functions, but this includes other specific implementations, such as specific implementations in which processor 210 executes software and / or firmware. The description herein may refer to processor 210 performing functions as shorthand for one or more of processors 230-234 performing the function. This specification may refer to UE 200 performing a function as shorthand for one or more appropriate components of UE 200 performing that function. Processor 210 may include a memory with stored instructions in addition to and / or in lieu of memory 211. The functionality of processor 210 is discussed more fully below.

[0058] Figure 2 The configuration of UE 200 shown in is an example and does not limit the present disclosure (including claims), and other configurations may be used. For example, an example configuration of UE includes one or more of processors 230-234 in processor 210, memory 211, and wireless transceiver 240. Other example configurations may include one or more of processors 230-234 in processor 210, memory 211, wireless transceiver, and one or more of the following: sensor 213, user interface 216, SPS receiver 217, camera 218, PD 219, and / or wired transceiver.

[0059] UE 200 may include a modem processor 232 that may be capable of performing baseband processing of signals received and down-converted by transceiver 215 and / or SPS receiver 217. Modem processor 232 may perform baseband processing of signals to be up-converted for transmission by transceiver 215. Additionally or alternatively, baseband processing may be performed by general / application processor 230 and / or DSP 231. However, other configurations may be used to perform baseband processing.

[0060] UE 200 may include a sensor 213, which may include, for example, one or more of various types of sensors, such as one or more inertial sensors, one or more magnetometers, one or more environmental sensors, one or more optical sensors, one or more weight sensors, and / or one or more radio frequency (RF) sensors, etc. An inertial measurement unit (IMU) may include, for example, one or more accelerometers (e.g., collectively responsive to acceleration of UE 200 in three dimensions) and / or one or more gyroscopes (e.g., three-dimensional gyroscopes). Sensor 213 may include one or more magnetometers (e.g., three-dimensional magnetometers) to determine orientation (e.g., relative to magnetic north and / or true north), which may be used for any of a variety of purposes (e.g., to support one or more compass applications). Environmental sensors may include, for example, one or more temperature sensors, one or more air pressure sensors, one or more ambient light sensors, one or more camera imagers, and / or one or more microphones, etc. Sensor 213 may generate analog and / or digital signals, indications of which may be stored in memory 211 and processed by DSP 231 and / or general / application processor 230 to support one or more applications (such as applications involving positioning and / or navigation operations).

[0061] The sensor 213 may be used for relative position measurement, relative position determination, motion determination, etc. The information detected by the sensor 213 may be used for motion detection, relative displacement, dead reckoning, sensor-based position determination, and / or sensor-assisted position determination. The sensor 213 may be used to determine whether the UE 200 is fixed (stationary) or mobile and / or whether to report certain useful information related to the mobility of the UE 200 to the LMF 120. For example, based on the information obtained / measured by the sensor 213, the UE 200 may notify / report to the LMF 120 that the UE 200 has detected movement or that the UE 200 has moved, and report the relative displacement / distance (e.g., via dead reckoning implemented by the sensor 213, or sensor-based position determination, or sensor-assisted position determination). In another example, for relative positioning information, the sensor / IMU may be used to determine the angle and / or orientation of another device relative to the UE 200, etc.

[0062] The IMU may be configured to provide measurements of the direction of motion and / or speed of motion of the UE 200, which may be used for relative position determination. For example, one or more accelerometers and / or one or more gyroscopes of the IMU may detect the linear acceleration and rotational speed of the UE 200, respectively. The linear acceleration measurements and rotational speed measurements of the UE 200 may be integrated over time to determine the instantaneous direction of motion and displacement of the UE 200. The instantaneous direction of motion and displacement may be integrated to track the position of the UE 200. For example, a reference position of the UE 200 at a certain moment may be determined, for example, using the SPS receiver 217 (and / or by some other means), and measurements obtained from the accelerometers and gyroscopes after that moment may be used for dead reckoning to determine the current position of the UE 200 based on the movement (direction and distance) of the UE 200 relative to the reference position.

[0063] The magnetometer can determine the magnetic field strength in different directions, which can be used to determine the orientation of the UE 200. For example, the orientation can be used to provide a digital compass for the UE 200. The magnetometer may include a two-dimensional magnetometer configured to detect and provide an indication of the magnetic field strength in two orthogonal dimensions. The magnetometer may include a three-dimensional magnetometer configured to detect and provide an indication of the magnetic field strength in three orthogonal dimensions. [0077] SPS Positioning Technology

[0078] Reference Figure 5 , UE 510 (here, a smart phone) may measure signals from one or more satellite positioning systems (SPS) (global navigation satellite system (GNSS)) to determine the location of UE 510. For example, UE 200 may be an example of UE 510, and SPS receiver 217 of UE 510 may measure signals 535 from GPS satellites 530 of a GPS (global positioning system) SPS and measure satellite signals 525 from Galileo satellites 520 of a Galileo SPS. UE 510 may measure signals from other GPS satellites and / or other Galileo satellites not shown, and / or signals from satellites of other SPSs (e.g., GLONASS, etc.) not shown. The Galileo system is defined for 50 pseudo-random noise (PRN) (code phase) sequences with three carrier frequencies (labeled E1, E5, and E6). The Galileo E1 (GAL E1) carrier frequency is 1575.42 MHz, which is the same carrier frequency used for GPS L1 signals. The GAL E1 signal uses a composite binary offset carrier (CBOC) modulation that includes both BOC(1,1) and BOC(6,1) modulations. The BOC(1,1) component of the Galileo E1 signal includes 10 / 11 of the power of the E1 signal and the BOC(6,1) component includes 1 / 11 of the power of the E1 signal. The GAL E1 signal has two modulations (BOC(1,1) and BOC(6,1)) and two codes, one for data and one for pilot. The data code is called E1-B and is an in-phase signal, while the pilot code is called E1-C and is an anti-phase signal. The GAL E1-B and E1-C codes can be generated from a lookup table in 4ms at a 1.023MHz sampling rate, with each code having 4,092 chips. For convolutionally encoded messages, the GAL E1-B signal has a sign bit every 4ms, and for 100ms, the GAL E1-C signal has a 25-bit cover code.

[0079] The satellite signal can be measured by the UE 510 because the UE 510 can correlate the satellite signal with a reference PN code (pseudo-random noise code) for the corresponding satellite of the corresponding SPS. The UE 510 changes the timing of the reference signal to determine one or more correlation peaks with corresponding timing. Figure 6 , the BOC(1,1) signal generates three correlation peaks 610, 620, 630 in the correlation curve 600. By finding the correlation peaks corresponding to the known PN code and the incoming satellite signal, the UE 510 can determine the arrival time of the signal, from which the UE 510 can determine the travel time of the signal, from which the UE 510 can determine the distance between the UE 510 and the transmitting satellite. The UE 510 can repeat this process for multiple satellites. The UE 510 can use the known positions of the satellites in the sky and the determined distances to determine the position of the UE 510.

[0080] A positioning estimate (e.g., for a UE) may be referred to by other names, such as a position estimate, a position, a fix, a position fix, a fix, etc. The positioning estimate may be geodetic and include coordinates (e.g., latitude, longitude, and possibly altitude), or may be municipal and include a street address, a postal address, or some other worded description of the location. The positioning estimate may be further defined relative to some other known location or in absolute terms (e.g., using latitude, longitude, and possibly altitude). The positioning estimate may include an expected error or uncertainty (e.g., by including an area or volume within which the location is expected to be contained with some specified or default confidence level).

[0081] Interference-based SV signal measurement

[0082] In mobile devices such as smartphones where small size and low cost are desired, GNSS (circuitry and associated antennas) are integrated with WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network), WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network), BT Close proximity of and / or other wireless technologies is common. Therefore, antenna-to-antenna isolation may be poor, resulting in interference to the GNSS spectrum, especially during the transmission operation of one or more non-GNSS technologies where the power level is typically much higher than the received signal. For example, since WWAN, WLAN, and BT are ground-based technologies, the power levels of these technologies may be tens of dB higher than GNSS signals (satellite-based). Examples of interfering signals include second-order or higher-order harmonics of signals in other frequency bands, signals with a fundamental frequency (which may be referred to as a first harmonic) in the frequency band of the signal to be measured, and / or one or more intermodulation signals (also referred to as intermodulation distortion signals) with a frequency in the frequency band of the signal to be measured (e.g., the total number and / or difference of frequencies of multiple signals). Although the discussion herein may focus on harmonics as interfering signals, the discussion applies to other types of interfering signals (such as intermodulation signals). As discussed herein, a device (e.g., a UE) may be configured to measure satellite signals (also referred to as satellite vehicle (SV) signals) while adapting to interference or possible interference.

[0083] BOC modulated signals (such as the GAL E1 signal) are called split-spectrum signals because the modulation changes the signal from a single main lobe signal to a multi-main lobe signal, where the multiple main lobes span different frequency spectra. Figure 7 and Figure 8 , a BPSK modulated (binary phase shift keying modulated) signal 700 (such as a GPS L1 signal) has a single main lobe 710, while a BOC (1, 1) signal 810 has two main lobes 811, 812 adjacent to a center frequency 830 of the signal 810, and a BOC (6, 1) signal 820 has two main lobes 821, 822 that are far apart from the center frequency 830. The two main lobes 811, 812 are centered at -1.023 MHz and +1.023 MHz, respectively, and the energy of the two main lobes 811, 812 is 3 dB less than the energy of the main lobe 710. Also refer to Fig. 9 , Figure 8 The signals 810, 820 shown in are components of the GAL E1 signal 900, where the BOC(1,1) signal 810 comprises 10 / 11 of the power of the E1 signal 900, and the BOC(6,1) signal 820 comprises 1 / 11 of the power of the E1 signal 900. A bandpass filter may be applied to the GAL E1 signal 900 to pass energy in a frequency band 910 spanning + / - 2 MHz of a center frequency 830 (e.g., a major portion of the signal's energy), which will effectively allow only a major portion of the BOC(1,1) signal 810 to be processed for determining signal arrival times. Also refer to Fig.10, GPS L1 signal 1010 may be bandpass filtered along with GAL E1 signal 900 to pass energy in band 910, where the energy in band 910 is sufficient for each of signals 700, 810 to correlate with good sensitivity.

[0084] BOC modulation provides the opportunity to process portions of the BOC modulated signal independently. For a C×4 (chip rate times four) sampling rate, four samples are taken per chip at a sampling rate of 4.092 MHz. BOC(1,1) modulation is equivalent to upsampling the PN sequence (a sequence of chips with values +1 or -1), replacing each +1 chip with [+1 -1] and each -1 chip with [-1+1]. In order to sample at four times the chip rate, the BOC values are repeated for correlation. Therefore, for BOC(1,1) at C×4, each +1 or -1 chip in the PN sequence is multiplied by [+1 +1 -1 -1] to obtain a C×4 sequence for correlation. GAL E1 at C×4 with 4 ms of BOC modulation B或C The code generator can be given by BOC_E1 B或C [1:4092] at cx4 =BPSK_E1 B或C [1:4092] at cx4 .*repmat([+1 +1 -1 -1],1,4092) (1) where repmat is the number of elements of the array repeated in the output. command, and "*" is element-wise multiplication. Under C×4, repmat([+1 +1-1 -1]) is equivalent to two subcarriers at + / -1.023MHz, so that

[0087]

[0088] Although each BPSK E1 B或C Related power ratio BOC E1 B或C The associated power is 3dB less, but there is the possibility to process each signal at + / -1.023MHz independently by BPSK modulation.

[0089] Reference Fig.11 , further reference Figure 2UE 1100 includes a processor 1110, a transceiver 1120, and a memory 1130, which are communicatively coupled to each other via a bus 1140. UE 1100 may include Fig.11 The components shown in and may include one or more other components, such as Figure 2 1100, so that UE 200 may be an example of UE 1100. For example, processor 1110 may include one or more of the components of processor 210. Transceiver 1120 may include one or more components of antenna 262 and SPS receiver 217, and may include one or more components of transceiver 215, such as wireless transmitter 242 and antenna 246, or wireless receiver 244 and antenna 246, or wireless transmitter 242, wireless receiver 244 and antenna 246, or wired transmitter 252 and / or wired receiver 254. Memory 1130 may be configured similarly to memory 211, for example, including software having processor-readable instructions configured to cause processor 1110 to perform functions. UE 510 may be an example of UE 1100.

[0090] The description herein may refer only to the processor 1110 performing a function, but this includes other implementations, such as implementations in which the processor 1110 executes software and / or firmware (stored in the memory 1130). The description herein may refer to the UE 1100 performing a function as shorthand for one or more appropriate components of the UE 1100 (e.g., the processor 1110 and the memory 1130) performing the function. The processor 1110 (possibly in combination with the memory 1130 and, where appropriate, the transceiver 1120) may include an SPS signal measurement unit 1150 and an event-based interference unit 1160. The event-based interference unit 1160 may be configured to affect the signal processed by the SPS signal measurement unit 1150 based on outbound signal transmissions (e.g., outbound WWAN signal transmissions) performed by the UE 1100. The event-based interference unit 1160 may, for example, be configured to adjust the attenuation applied to the incoming signal and / or selectively blank the incoming SV signal. The SPS signal measurement unit 1150 and the event-based interference unit 1160 are further discussed below, and the description may generally refer to the processor 1110 or generally refer to the UE 1100 performing any functions of the SPS signal measurement unit 1150 and / or the event-based interference unit 1160, where the UE 1100 is configured to perform these functions.

[0091] Event-based interference is interference induced by the occurrence of an event and is repeatable, so that the interference induced by the event is known (e.g., with a known frequency and magnitude). The event-based interference unit 1160 may know the event-based interference, for example, both the interference and the event that induced the interference. For example, the event-based interference may be Tx interference caused by the transmission of one or more signals by the UE 1100, in which case the event-based interference unit 1160 obtains knowledge of the occurrence of the event from another part of the processor 1110 (e.g., which controls the transmission of communication signals). The event-based interference unit 1160 may not know the interference induced by the event, but knows what actions to take to avoid the negative effects of the interference, for example, what measurements to use and / or what measurements not to use during the event. The event-based interference unit 1160 may determine that the Tx interference is currently occurring (e.g., according to the notification sent by the Tx) and / or may determine the time of future Tx interference (e.g., according to the Tx schedule). The event-based interference unit 1160 may obtain an indication of an interference-inducing event from another portion of the UE 1100 and / or from outside the UE 1100 (e.g., via the transceiver 1120). The interference occurs at one or more known frequencies and / or within one or more known frequency ranges. Multiple events that each induce interference may occur, and one or more interference-inducing events may end, thereby causing the event-induced interference to end.

[0092] Also refer to Fig.12 , UE 1100 may be configured to frequency shift SV signals and interference signals and filter the frequency shifted signals. UE 1100 (e.g., transceiver 1120) may include a transmitter 1210 (e.g., wireless transmitter 242), an antenna 1220 (e.g., antenna 246), an SPS antenna 1230 (e.g., SPS antenna 262), a frequency shifter 1240, and a frequency filter 1250. Transmitter 1210 and antenna 1220 are configured to transmit outbound signals, such as WWAN signals (e.g., data, communications, etc.), based on a transmit indicator signal 1260. TX indicator signal 1260 indicates the timing and frequency of the outbound signal transmission. SPS antenna 1230 is configured to receive SV signals. Frequency filter 1250 is configured to provide attenuation having an attenuation distribution as a function of frequency. The frequency shifter 1240 is configured to selectively apply or not apply a frequency shift based on what interference, if any, may exist for one or more SV signals corresponding to the TX indicator signal 1260 .

[0093] Also refer to Fig.13, the transmitter 1210 and antenna 1220 may transmit signals of various frequencies, some of which may cause interference to one or more SV signals received by the SPS antenna 1230. A center bandwidth of + / -4 MHz for each of the normalized GPS L1 signal 1310 and the normalized GAL E1 signal 1320 is shown (i.e., where the center frequency of the signals 1310, 1320 is 0 MHz). The transmitter 1210 and antenna 1220 may transmit one or more outbound signals that generate one or more signals (e.g., interference signal 1360) whose frequencies may interfere with the signals 1310, 1320 in the region 1330 (below about -2.3 MHz from the center frequency). For example, the second harmonic of the transmitted signal in the B13 band may interfere with the signal in the region 1330. The frequency filter 1250 provides attenuation 1340 to the signal received by the SPS antenna 1230. For example, the frequency filter 1250 may be an LTE frequency filter to help prevent interference caused by LTE signal transmissions. Interfering signals in region 1330, particularly interfering signals near edge 1332 of region 1330, may interfere with portions of signals 1310, 1320 more than desired. To help increase attenuation of such interfering signals, frequency shifter 1240 is configured to respond to TX indicator signal 1260 indicating the transmission of one or more signals that may induce interference with one or more of signals 1310, 1320 by selectively shifting the frequency of the signal received by SPS antenna 1230, as appropriate (e.g., if appropriate and in an appropriate direction).

[0094] Also refer to Fig.14, the frequency shifter 1240 is configured to shift the signal received by the SPS antenna 1230 downward in frequency based on the TX indicator signal 1260, which indicates the transmission of one or more outbound signals that may induce interference in the lower frequency range of the signals 1310, 1320 (e.g., in the area 1330). The frequency shifter 1240 can achieve this frequency shift by, for example, increasing the downconverter frequency of the downconverter that processes the signals 1310, 1320 and the signals that will become interference. In this example, the frequency shifter 1240 has shifted the signals 1310, 1320 downward by 511.5kHz (but other magnitudes of frequency shifts can be used). Therefore, the new edge 1410 of the area 1420 of the potential interference signal (e.g., the frequency-shifted interference signal 1460, which is the interference signal 1360 after the frequency shift) has been moved to a portion (e.g., -50dB or greater) with higher attenuation than the edge 1332 (e.g., about -34dB). Without frequency shifting, processing of the two main lobes of the GAL E1 signal 1320 may include interference and thus result in poor accuracy in determining the position and / or poor accuracy in determining the time of the UE 1100. With frequency shifting, the UE 1100 may process both main lobes of the GAL E1 signal 1320, thereby providing more processed energy, better resolution of the correlation peaks and thus better accuracy of the time of arrival of the signal 1320 and thus a more accurate position estimate for the UE 1100. Additionally or alternatively, with frequency shifting, the time determined by processing both main lobes of the GAL E1 signal 1320 may be more accurate.

[0095] Also refer to Fig.15 and Fig.16 , the transmitter 1210 and the antenna 1220 may transmit signals that may cause interference in the higher frequency region of the signals 1310, 1320. The transmitter 1210 and the antenna 1220 may transmit one or more outbound signals that produce one or more signals having frequencies in the region 1510 (above an edge frequency 1512 approximately +1.5 MHz from the center frequency) that may interfere with the signals 1310, 1320. For example, the second harmonic (e.g., 5 MHz mode, 10 MHz mode) of each of the one or more transmit signals in the B14 band may interfere with the signals in the region 1510. As with the lower frequency band interference, the frequency shifter 1240 is configured to respond to the TX indicator signal 1260 by selectively shifting the frequency of the signal received by the SPS antenna 1230, the TX indicator signal indicating the transmission of one or more signals that may induce interference with one or more of the signals 1310, 1320. The frequency shifter 1240 is configured to shift the signal received by the SPS antenna 1230 upward in frequency based on the TX indicator signal 1260, such as Fig.16, the TX indicator signal indicates the transmission of one or more outbound signals that may induce interference in the higher frequency range of the signals 1310, 1320 (e.g., in the region 1510). In this example, the frequency shifter 1240 has shifted the signals 1310, 1320 upward by 511.5 kHz (although other magnitudes of frequency shifts may be used). Thus, the new edge 1612 of the region 1610 of potential interfering signals has been moved to a portion (e.g., -24 or greater) with a higher attenuation than the edge frequency 1512 (e.g., approximately -12 dB). As discussed above, in the absence of a frequency shift, the processing of the two main lobes of the GALE1 signal 1320 may include interference and, therefore, result in poor accuracy in determining the position and / or determining the time of the UE 1100. With frequency shifting, UE 1100 may process both main lobes of GAL E1 signal 1320, thereby providing more processing energy, may determine a better resolution of the correlation peak and therefore may determine a better accuracy of the time of arrival of signal 1320 and therefore a more accurate position estimate for UE 1100. Additionally or alternatively, a more accurate time may be determined.

[0096] Frequency shifting the received signal relative to the frequency filter attenuation mode may provide one or more advantages. For example, frequency shifting may provide better interference signal suppression. As another example, frequency shifting enables more of the received SV signal to be processed. Also refer to Fig.17 , the correlation peaks 1710, 1720 obtained by processing + / - 2 MHz within the center frequency of the BOC GAL E1C signal without and with attenuation 1340 applied are higher and narrower than the peak 1730 obtained by processing one BPSK GAL E1C signal main lobe without processing the other main lobe. A clearer correlation peak 1740 corresponding to processing of one of the two main lobes can be obtained by applying a finite impulse response (FIR) filter.

[0097] Other techniques may be used with event-based interference unit 1160 to adjust the attenuation applied to incoming signals. Fig.18 , UE 1100 may include frequency filters 1810, 1820 and a selector 1830 (e.g., a switch) to selectively route signals received by SPS antenna 1840 to one of filters 1810, 1820 or to bypass filters 1810, 1820. Filters 1810, 1820 may be configured to allow processing of desired frequency portions of SV signals and suppress interfering signals. For example, frequency filter 1810 may be configured to allow frequency range 1351 (1352) containing the higher frequency main lobe of GAL E1C signal 1320 to be processed. Fig.13) through a bandpass filter (BPF). As another example, the frequency filter 1810 may be a BPF configured to pass a frequency range 1352 containing two main lobes of the GAL E1C signal 1320 while suppressing signal frequencies outside the frequency range 1352. The frequency filter 1810 may be configured to pass a portion of the main lobe of the signal 1320. For example, the frequency filter 1810 may be a BPF configured to pass a frequency range 1353 containing a portion (less than all) of the lower frequency main lobe of the signal 1320 and a higher frequency main lobe of the signal 1320. This may help avoid interference and process more energy of the signal 1310 at the same time (e.g., compared to using range 1351), which may help improve positioning accuracy and / or time determination accuracy. The frequency filter 1810 may provide a passband that is symmetrical (e.g., frequency range 1352) or asymmetrical (e.g., frequency ranges 1351, 1353) about the center frequency of the signal 1320. As another example, the frequency filter 1810 may be a high pass filter (HPF) configured to pass a frequency range 1354 including a portion (less than all) of the lower frequency main lobe of the signal 1320 and higher frequencies (including the higher frequency main lobe of the signal 1320) and suppress signal frequencies below the frequency range 1354. The selector 1830 is configured to select one of the filters 1810, 1820 or no filter for a signal received by the SPS antenna 1840 based on a TX indicator 1850, for example, indicating expected interference based on outbound signal transmissions by the transmitter 1210 and the antenna 1220. Similar to the frequency filter 1810, the frequency filter 1820 may be configured to pass SV signal frequencies and prohibit interference frequencies to facilitate accurate positioning and / or time determination of the UE 1100. For example, the frequency filter 1820 may be configured to pass the frequency ranges 1551, 1552, 1553, 1554 ( Fig.15 ) through. Still other examples of frequency ranges that frequency filter 1810 and / or frequency filter 1820 may provide for partially passing the desired signal and suppressing the undesired signal may be used. Fig.18Two frequency filters are shown in FIG, but other frequency filters may be used. In addition, the TX indicator may indicate expected interfering signals in various ways. For example, the TX indicator may indicate one or more frequencies of one or more outbound signals being sent or to be sent, and / or may indicate one or more frequencies that may induce one or more signals (e.g., harmonics and / or intermodulation signals) due to the transmission of one or more outbound signals. As another example, the TX indicator may indicate a frequency shift to be implemented and / or a frequency band to be passed and / or a frequency band to be suppressed (e.g., an indication of implementing one of the frequency ranges 1351-1354 and / or one of the frequency ranges 1551-1554, or an indication of a frequency filter to be applied, etc.).

[0098] Adjusting the frequency of the incoming signal and / or adjusting the frequency filtering can be used for various spectrum signals, such as BOC signals centered at 1.57542 GHz (e.g., GAL E1, BDS (Beidou Navigation System) B1C, GPS L1C), and can provide various advantages. For example, such techniques can provide improved signal processing accuracy. As another example, for better sensitivity, SV signals (e.g., GAL E1, BDS B1C, GPS L1C) can continue to be correlated during the presence of would-be interference (e.g., due to LTE B13 and / or LTE B14 interference). As another example, blanking of SV signals can be avoided (e.g., during WWAN transmission). As another example, a + / - 511.5 kHz frequency shift of the incoming signal can provide improved LTE signal suppression, thereby reducing the interference signal impact on the correlation peak and / or automatic gain control of the SV signal. As another example, at a frequency shift of + / -511.5kHz of the incoming signal, the GPS L1 signal can be processed C×4, thereby saving buffer usage in the sample memory (SM) (e.g., 64 kilobytes in acquisition and 8 kilobytes in tracking), thereby enabling sharing of common sample memory between the GPS L1 signal and other L1 band signals (including GAL E1). As another example, each sideband (corresponding to the main lobe) of a BOC modulated signal can be processed separately from BPSK modulation, for example, by modifying the code generator characteristics (e.g., a code generator having BOC characteristics as discussed with respect to equations (1) to (4)) or by modifying the chip matched filter characteristics from BOC to BPSK. If an interfering signal is present in one sideband and not in the other sideband, the sideband without interference can be processed by BPSK modulation. Thus, the satellite can continue to be tracked despite the presence of an interfering signal in the bandwidth of the satellite signal. As another example, the 1.023MHz chip rate and several milliseconds code period of the L1 signal facilitate fast acquisition. Being able to process a portion of such a signal in the presence of potential interference enables fast acquisition regardless of the interference. As another example, by processing a portion of an SV signal while there is interference in another portion of the SV signal, the global geometry of the satellite (GDOP-PDOP (geometry Dilution of Precision-Position Dilution of Precision)) can be maintained regardless of the presence of interference. The UE 1100 can dynamically switch between processing a full-band SV signal and a partial-band SV signal to accommodate the intermittent presence of interference.

[0099] Reference Fig.19 , see further Figure 2 and Fig.11, the event-based interference unit 1160 may be configured to selectively blank the incoming SV signal based on whether the outbound signal will induce a signal that will have a significant impact on the processing of the SV signal. For example, the WWAN frequency band may be very large, and the WWAN signal may be sent on a small portion of the WWAN frequency band. Depending on the frequency at which the WWAN signal is sent, one or more interference signals that may or may not produce a result may be generated (e.g., within the frequency band of the signal to be processed and whose magnitude has a significant impact on the signal to be processed, for example, causing the SINR (signal to interference and noise ratio) to be below a threshold). That is, within the WWAN frequency band, the frequency of the interference signal that may induce a result may be much narrower than the entire WWAN frequency band. For example, some WWAN transmission concurrencies (including NR5G) may cause RF interference to a GNSS constellation (e.g., GPS L1). To mitigate this interference, the event-based interference unit 1160 may send the TX indicator 1910 to a blanking unit 1920, which is configured to selectively blank the SV signal received by the SPS antenna 1930, for example, during a WWAN transmission that will induce (or at least is expected to induce) the resulting interference, and not blank the SV signal in the absence of a WWAN transmission corresponding to the resulting interference signal. The event-based interference unit 1160 may adjust one or more detection thresholds (e.g., for correlation peaks) used by the SPS signal measurement unit 1150 based on the amount of blanking (e.g., the number of blanked samples of the SV signal). The blanking provided by the blanking unit 1920 may be applied on a WWAN sub-band basis, that is, based on what sub-band of the WWAN band is being used for outbound signal transmission via the transceiver 1120 (e.g., the wireless transmitter 242 and the antenna 246). Selective blanking may help avoid processing SV signals with interference (thereby improving measurement accuracy and / or reducing latency) while avoiding blanking SV signals based on outbound signaling (e.g., outbound signaling of WWAN signals) that will not significantly interfere with the SV signals.

[0100] This selective blanking can be extended to multiple transmission scenarios, including for different technologies. Blanking may depend on the frequency band combination of multiple transmission signals and the frequency of the transmission signals. For example, instead of performing blanking based on any LTE TDD ULCA (LTE time division duplex uplink carrier aggregation) transmission, multiple signal transmissions that induce interference are selectively blanked, and blanking is avoided in other cases. As another example, instead of performing blanking based on any LTE TDD ULCA (LTE time division duplex uplink carrier aggregation) transmission, or any LTE and NR5G NSA (new radio 5G non-independent) transmission, or any 5G NRCA / DC (carrier aggregation / dual connection) transmission, multiple signal transmissions that induce interference are selectively blanked, and blanking is avoided in other cases.

[0101] The blanking applied by the blanking unit 1920 may be any of a variety of blanking types. For example, the blanking unit 1920 may blank the SV signal by replacing the SV signal (i.e., the entire bandwidth of the SV signal) with a jittering pattern of a sequence of ON / OFF states of the power amplifier. As another example, the blanking unit 1920 may perform blanking based on a GSM or LTE TDD transmission and / or based on an LTE FDD (frequency division duplex) B13 / B14 transmission (for GAL E1 mitigation). As another example, the blanking unit 1920 may blank the SV signal based on a DMRS (demodulation reference signal) symbol transmission from an LTE FDD transmission (e.g., SV signal samples taken during it). As another example, the blanking unit 1920 may perform blanking based on a DMRS (demodulation reference signal) symbol transmission from an LTE FDD transmission (e.g., SV signal samples taken during it). and / or WiFi signals are sent to blank the SV signal.

[0102] Selectively blanking SV signals for outbound signal transmissions that are expected to induce significant SV signal interference (e.g., WWAN signal transmissions) and not blanking SV signals for outbound signal transmissions that are not expected to induce significant SV signal interference may result in a noise floor measurement that is different from the noise floor measurement that would occur if blanking were performed for any outbound transmissions (e.g., anywhere within the WWAN frequency band). Blanking for interference-inducing WWAN transmissions (those that induce interference of consequence) and not blanking for non-interference-inducing WWAN transmissions will result in a higher floor measurement for the WWAN transmissions. If blanking is performed for WWAN aggressor transmissions (those that will induce interference of consequence) and not blanking is performed for non-aggressor WWAN transmissions (those that will not induce interference of consequence), then the following should be true

[0103] NF_A≤NF_B <NF_C (5)

[0104] Where NF_A is the GNSS noise floor measured in the absence of WWAN transmissions (e.g., of either aggressor or non-aggressor), NF_B is the GNSS noise floor measured during non-aggressor WWAN transmissions, and NF_C is the GNSS noise floor measured during aggressor WWAN transmissions. However, if blanking is performed for WWAN aggressor transmissions and no blanking is performed for non-aggressor WWAN transmissions, then (because blanking raises the noise floor) the following should be true

[0105] NF_A <NF_B≤NF_C (5)

[0106] Reference Fig. 20 , and further reference Figures 1 to 19, the satellite signal method 2000 includes the stages shown. However, the method 2000 is an example and not a limitation. The method 2000 can be modified, for example, by adding, removing, rearranging, combining, performing concurrently, and / or splitting a single stage into multiple stages.

[0107] At stage 2010, method 2000 includes receiving a satellite signal at a device. For example, UE 510 receives satellite signal 525 (and satellite signal 535). Transceiver 1120 (e.g., antenna 262) may include components for receiving satellite signals. As another example, transceiver 1120 (e.g., SPS receiver 217 and antenna 262) and processor 1110 may include components for receiving satellite signals.

[0108] At stage 2020, method 2000 includes sending one or more outbound signals from the device. For example, processor 1110 transmits one or more WWAN signals (e.g., LTE signals and / or 5G signals) via transceiver 1120 (e.g., wireless transmitter 242 and antenna 246). Processor 1110 (possibly in conjunction with memory 1130, in conjunction with transceiver 1120 (e.g., wireless transmitter 242 and antenna 246)) may include components for transmitting one or more outbound signals.

[0109] At stage 2030, method 2000 includes inhibiting the device from processing at least a first portion of a satellite signal across a first set of frequencies, the first portion of the satellite signal including at least a portion of an interfering signal corresponding to the transmission of one or more outbound signals. For example, event-based interference unit 1160 may cause frequency filtering of the satellite signal to be processed to inhibit a frequency band of the satellite signal from being processed, or may cause blanking of one or more samples of the satellite signal to inhibit a time span of the satellite signal from being processed. For example, event-based interference unit 1160 may provide an indication of the transmission of the outbound signal and / or an interfering frequency and / or filtering to be applied to the satellite signal and / or blanking to be applied to the satellite signal and / or one or more other indications. Event-based interference unit 1160 may include processor 1110 that transmits one or more outbound signals via transceiver 1120, wherein the transmission indication causes frequency filtering or blanking. The processor 1110 (possibly in combination with the memory 1130, possibly in combination with the frequency shifter 1240 and the frequency filter 1250, or the selector 1830, or the blanking unit 1920) may include components for disabling processing of at least a first portion of the satellite signal (e.g., to disable use of the first portion of the satellite signal to determine a correlation peak).

[0110] Many examples of method 2000 may be implemented. For example, as with respect to Fig.21As discussed, an example can be implemented where the first portion of the satellite signal is a frequency portion of the satellite signal. As another example, with respect to Fig. 22 As discussed, examples may be implemented where the first portion of the satellite signal is a temporal portion of the satellite signal.

[0111] Reference Fig.21 , and further reference Figures 1 to 20 , satellite signal method 2100 includes the stages shown. However, method 2100 is an example and not a limitation. Method 2100 can be modified, for example, by adding, removing, rearranging, combining, performing concurrently, and / or splitting a single stage into multiple stages. Method 2100 is an example of method 2000, where stages 2110, 2120, 2130 correspond to stages 2010, 2020, 2030, but the first portion of the satellite signal is the frequency portion of the satellite signal.

[0112] Implementations of the method 2100 may include one or more of the following features. In an example implementation, disabling processing of at least a first portion of the satellite signal includes actuating a frequency filter to attenuate a portion of the interference signal and the first portion of the satellite signal based on the transmission of the one or more outbound signals. For example, the event-based interference unit 1160 may provide the TX indicator 1850 to the selector 1830, and the selector 1830 may select one of the frequency filters 1810, 1820 to be applied to the satellite signal and the interference signal received by the SPS antenna 1840 to suppress the interference signal and the corresponding frequency of the satellite signal. The processor 1110 (possibly in conjunction with the memory 1130, in conjunction with the selector 1830 and the frequency filters 1810, 1820) may include components for disabling processing of at least a first portion of the satellite signal.

[0113] Additionally or alternatively, implementations of the method 2100 may include one or more of the following features. In an example implementation, the method 2100 also includes processing a second portion of the satellite signal across a second frequency set different from the first frequency set to determine a time of arrival of the satellite signal at the device, wherein the first portion of the satellite signal and the second portion of the satellite signal are different frequency portions of the same time portion of the satellite signal. The first frequency set and the second frequency set may be different because some energy of the first portion and some energy of the second portion may be at the same frequency due to practical manufacturing considerations, but the energy in the first portion will be so low relative to the energy in the second portion that it is negligible (e.g., below a threshold such as -20 dB or -30 dB relative to the second portion). The first frequency set and the second frequency set may not be perfectly separated, but one set is attenuated (e.g., by a filter) to have a negligible contribution to the signal measurement. The processor 1110 (e.g., the SPS signal measurement unit 1150) may determine the time of arrival by correlating the satellite signal with a reference signal and finding the timing of the correlation peak. The processor 1110 (possibly in conjunction with the memory 1130) may include components for processing the second portion of the satellite signal. In another example implementation, the satellite signal is a spectrum-split modulated signal including a first main lobe and a second main lobe, and the first frequency set includes a first portion of the second main lobe and the second frequency set includes a second portion of the second main lobe. For example, the satellite signal may be the GAL E1 signal 1310, the second frequency set may be the frequency range 1553 or the frequency range 1554, and the first frequency set may include frequencies higher than the frequency ranges 1553, 1554. As another example, the satellite signal may be the GAL E1 signal 1310, the second frequency set may be the frequency range 1353 or the frequency range 1354, and the first frequency set may include frequencies higher than the frequency ranges 1353, 1354. Although these examples have the first frequency set and the second frequency set adjacent to each other, the first frequency set and the second frequency set may be spaced apart (i.e., have a certain gap in frequency between them). In another example implementation, the satellite signal is a spectrum-split modulated signal including a first main lobe and a second main lobe, and wherein the first frequency set includes at least some of the second main lobe and the second frequency set does not include the second main lobe. For example, the satellite signal may be the GAL E1 signal 1310, the second set of frequencies may be the frequency range 1551, and the first set of frequencies may include frequencies above the frequency range 1553. As another example, the satellite signal may be the GAL E1 signal 1310, the second set of frequencies may be the frequency range 1351, and the first set of frequencies may include frequencies below the frequency range 1353.

[0114] Additionally or alternatively, a specific implementation of the method 2100 may include one or more of the following features. In an example implementation, inhibiting processing of at least the first portion of the satellite signal includes: frequency shifting the interference signal based on the transmission of the one or more outbound signals to produce a frequency-shifted interference signal, so that the frequency-shifted interference signal is in a frequency span of a frequency filter of the device that has a higher attenuation than the interference signal; and applying the frequency filter to the frequency-shifted interference signal. For example, the frequency shifter 1240 may respond to the TX indicator signal 1260 by shifting the interference signal and the satellite signal in frequency, for example, to suppress the interference signal more than in the absence of the frequency shift by moving the interference signal into an attenuation region 1340 provided by the frequency filter 1250, which will attenuate the interference signal more than in the absence of the frequency shift. The frequency shifter 1240 may include a component for frequency shifting the interference signal. The frequency filter 1250 may include a component for applying the frequency filter to the frequency-shifted interference signal.

[0115] Reference Fig. 22 , and further reference Figures 1 to 20 , satellite signal method 2200 includes the stages shown. However, method 2200 is an example and not a limitation. Method 2200 can be modified, for example, by adding, removing, rearranging, combining, performing concurrently, and / or splitting a single stage into multiple stages. Method 2200 is an example of method 2000, where stages 2210, 2220, 2230 correspond to stages 2010, 2020, 2030, where the first portion of the satellite signal is the time portion of the satellite signal.

[0116] Implementations of the method 2200 may include one or more of the following features. In an example implementation, inhibiting processing of at least a first portion of the satellite signal includes blanking the satellite signal for a time period corresponding to the transmission of the one or more outbound signals based on the one or more frequency sub-bands of the one or more outbound signals. For example, the blanking unit 1920 may respond to the TX indicator 1910 indicating the transmission of one or more WWAN signals by blanking the SV signal for the duration of the WWAN signal transmission, the transmission inducing interference to the result of the SV signal due to the frequency sub-band of the WWAN signal. The blanking unit 1920 may include components for blanking the satellite signal.

[0117] Other considerations

[0118] Other examples and implementations are within the scope of this disclosure and the appended claims. For example, due to the nature of software and computers, the functions described above may be implemented using software executed by a processor, hardware, firmware, hardwiring, or any combination thereof. Features that implement a function may also be physically located at different locations, including being distributed so that portions of a function are implemented at different physical locations.

[0119] As used herein, the singular forms "a", "an", and "the" also include the plural forms, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. As used herein, the terms "include", "have", "include", and / or "contain" indicate the presence of the described features, integers, steps, operations, elements, and / or components, but do not exclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, integers, steps, operations, elements, components, and / or groups thereof.

[0120] Likewise, as used herein, “or” used in a list of items (possibly followed by “at least one of” or followed by “one or more of”) indicates a disjunctive list, so that, for example, a list of “at least one of A, B, or C,” or a list of “one or more of A, B, or C,” or a list of “A or B or C” means A or B or C, or AB (A and B), or AC (A and C), or BC (B and C), or ABC (i.e., A and B and C), or a combination having more than one feature (e.g., AA, AAB, ABBC, etc.). Thus, a statement that an item (e.g., a processor) is configured to perform a function with respect to at least one of A or B, or a statement that an item is configured to perform function A or function B means that the item can be configured to perform a function with respect to A, or can be configured to perform a function with respect to B, or can be configured to perform functions with respect to both A and B. For example, the phrase "a processor configured to measure at least one of A or B" or "a processor configured to measure A or measure B" means that the processor may be configured to measure A (and may or may not be configured to measure B), or may be configured to measure B (and may or may not be configured to measure A), or may be configured to measure A and measure B (and may be configured to select which one or both of A and B to measure). Similarly, the description of a component for measuring at least one of A or B includes: a component for measuring A (which may or may not be able to measure B), or a component for measuring B (and may or may not be configured to measure A), or a component for measuring A and B (which may be able to select which one or both of A and B to measure). For another example, the description that an item (e.g., a processor) is configured to perform at least one of function X or perform function Y means that the item may be configured to perform function X, or may be configured to perform function Y, or may be configured to perform function X and perform function Y. For example, the phrase "a processor configured to measure at least one of X or Y" means that the processor may be configured to measure X (and may or may not be configured to measure Y), or may be configured to measure Y (and may or may not be configured to measure X), or may be configured to measure X and measure Y (and may be configured to select which one or both of X and Y to measure).

[0121] As used herein, unless otherwise stated, a recitation that a function or operation is “based on” an item or condition means that the function or operation is based on the recited item or condition, and may be based on one or more items and / or conditions other than the recited item or condition.

[0122] Substantial variations may be made as required. For example, customized hardware may also be used, and / or specific elements may be implemented in hardware, in software executed by a processor (including portable software, such as applets, etc.), or in both. In addition, connections to other computing devices such as network input / output devices may be employed. Unless otherwise indicated, components (functional or otherwise) shown in the figures and / or discussed herein as interconnected or communicating are communicatively coupled. That is, they may be connected directly or indirectly to enable communication therebetween.

[0123] The systems and devices discussed above are examples. Various configurations may appropriately omit, replace, or add various programs or components. For example, features described with reference to certain configurations may be combined in various other configurations. Different aspects and elements of a configuration may be combined in a similar manner. In addition, technology will evolve, and thus, many elements are examples, and do not limit the scope of the present disclosure or claims.

[0124] A wireless communication system is a system in which communications are transmitted wirelessly, i.e., by propagation of electromagnetic waves and / or sound waves through atmospheric space rather than by wires or other physical connections between wireless communication devices. A wireless communication system (also referred to as a wireless communication system, a wireless communication network, or a wireless communication network) may not have all communications transmitted wirelessly, but may be configured to have at least some communications transmitted wirelessly. Furthermore, the term "wireless communication device" or similar terms does not require that the functionality of the device is exclusively or even primarily used for communication, or that communications using the wireless communication device are exclusively or even primarily wireless, or that the device is a mobile device, but rather indicates that the device includes wireless communication capabilities (unidirectional or bidirectional), for example, including at least one radio component (each radio component is part of a transmitter, receiver, or transceiver) for wireless communication.

[0125] Specific details are given in this specification to provide a thorough understanding of example configurations (including specific implementations). However, these configurations can be practiced without these specific details. For example, well-known circuits, processes, algorithms, structures and techniques have been shown without unnecessary details to avoid confusing these configurations. The description herein provides example configurations without limiting the scope, applicability or configuration of the claims. On the contrary, the previous description of the configuration provides a description for implementing the technology. Various changes can be made to the functions and arrangements of the elements.

[0126] As used herein, the terms "processor-readable medium," "machine-readable medium," and "computer-readable medium" refer to any medium that participates in providing data that causes a machine to operate in a particular manner. Using a computing platform, various processor-readable media may be involved in providing instructions / codes for execution to a processor, and / or may be used to store and / or carry such instructions / codes (e.g., as signals). In many specific implementations, processor-readable media are physical and / or tangible storage media. Such media may take many forms, including, but not limited to, non-volatile media and volatile media. Non-volatile media include, for example, optical disks and / or magnetic disks. Volatile media include, but are not limited to, dynamic memory.

[0127] After describing several example configurations, various modifications, alternative constructions, and equivalents may be used. For example, the above elements may be components of a larger system, where other rules may take precedence over the application of the present disclosure or otherwise modify the application of the present invention. In addition, several operations may be taken before, during, or after considering the above elements. Accordingly, the above description does not limit the scope of the claims.

[0128] Unless otherwise indicated, "approximately" and / or "about" as used herein in reference to a measurable value (such as an amount, a duration of time, etc.) encompasses variations of ±20% or ±10%, ±5%, or +0.1% from the specified value, as is appropriate in the context of the systems, devices, circuits, methods, and other specific implementations described herein. Unless otherwise indicated, "substantially" as used herein in reference to a measurable value (such as an amount, a duration of time, a physical property (such as frequency), etc.) also encompasses variations of ±20% or ±10%, ±5%, or +0.1% from the specified value, as is appropriate in the context of the systems, devices, circuits, methods, and other specific implementations described herein.

[0129] A statement that a value exceeds (or is greater than or higher than) a first threshold is equivalent to a statement that a value meets or exceeds a second threshold that is slightly greater than the first threshold, e.g., the second threshold is one value higher than the first threshold in the resolution of the computing system. A statement that a value is less than (or within or below) a first threshold is equivalent to a statement that a value is less than or equal to a second threshold that is slightly lower than the first threshold, e.g., the second threshold is one value lower than the first threshold in the resolution of the computing system.
