Abstract

This invention discloses a catechol-functionalized fouling-releasing marine antifouling coating. Based on the catechol groups, the active ingredient in the secretions of mussels, a marine organism, the catechol groups are modified into a siloxane curing agent via a reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer method. This ensures that the curing agent component of the fouling-releasing silicone coating has high adhesion. After mixing, curing, and cross-linking, the prepared coating can firmly adhere to the surface of various substrates. Simultaneously, the catechol-functionalized curing agent ensures that the main chain molecular structure of the cured coating remains a hydrophobic and smooth polysiloxane resin, thus ensuring excellent antifouling performance during service. This coating can be applied to the antifouling of marine facilities, and is particularly suitable for various marine facilities that are submerged in seawater for extended periods.
