Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present disclosure relates to wireless communication systems and more particularly to receiving control signaling in the presence of interference. Background Art

[0002] 5G mobile communication technology defines a wider frequency band, making high transmission rates and new services possible, and can be realized not only in "below 6 GHz" frequency bands such as 3.5 GHz, but also in "above 6 GHz" frequency bands called millimeter waves (mmWave) including 28 GHz and 39 GHz. In addition, 6G mobile communication technology (called super 5G system) has been considered to be implemented in terahertz (THz) frequency bands (e.g., 95 GHz to 3 THz frequency bands) to achieve a transmission rate 50 times faster than 5G mobile communication technology and an ultra-low latency of one-tenth of 5G mobile communication technology.

[0003] At the beginning of the development of 5G mobile communication technology, in order to support services such as enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) and massive machine type communication (mMTC) and meet performance requirements, beamforming and massive MIMO for reducing the radio wave path loss of mmWave and increasing the radio wave transmission distance, parameter sets supporting dynamic operations for efficient utilization of mmWave resources and time slot formats (for example, operating multiple subcarrier spacings), initial access technology supporting multi-beam transmission and broadband, definition and operation of BWP (bandwidth part), new channel coding methods (such as low-density parity check (LDPC) codes for large-scale data transmission and polar codes for high-reliability transmission of control information), L2 preprocessing, and standardization of network slicing for providing dedicated networks for specific services have been underway.

[0004] Currently, the improvement and performance enhancement of the initial 5G mobile communication technology are being discussed in view of the services that the 5G mobile communication technology will support, and the physical layer standardization of the following technologies has been carried out: vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology for assisting autonomous vehicles in determining driving and improving user convenience based on information about the location and status of the vehicle transmitted by the vehicle; new radio unlicensed (NR-U) technology designed to make system operations comply with various relevant regulatory requirements in unlicensed frequency bands; NR UE power saving technology; non-terrestrial network (NTN) technology, that is, UE directly communicates with satellites to provide coverage in areas where communication with terrestrial networks is impossible; and positioning technology.

[0005] In addition, the standardization of air interface architecture / protocols is also in progress, such as Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) that supports new services through interworking and integration with other industries, Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) that provides nodes for network service area expansion by supporting wireless backhaul links and access links in an integrated manner, mobility enhancements including conditional handover and dual active protocol stack (DAPS) handover, and two-step random access for simplifying the random access process (e.g., two-step RACH for NR). Standardization of the following items has also been ongoing in terms of system architecture / services: 5G baseline architecture (e.g., service-based architecture or service-based interface) for combining network function virtualization (NFV) and software defined network (SDN) technologies, and mobile edge computing (MEC) for receiving services based on UE location.

[0006] With the commercialization of 5G mobile communication systems, the already exponentially increasing number of connected devices will be connected to the communication network, and therefore it is expected that it will be necessary to enhance the functions and performance of 5G mobile communication systems and the integrated operation of connected devices. To this end, new research related to extended reality (XR) is planned to effectively support augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR), etc. 5G performance improvement and complexity reduction can be achieved by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), AI service support, virtual service support, and drone communication.

[0007] In addition, this development of 5G mobile communication systems will serve as the basis for the development of the following technologies: new waveforms for providing coverage in the terahertz band of 6G mobile communication technology; multi-antenna transmission technologies such as full-dimensional MIMO (FD-MIMO), array antennas, and massive antennas; metamaterial-based lenses and antennas for improving the coverage of terahertz band signals; high-dimensional spatial multiplexing technology using orbital angular momentum (OAM), and reconfigurable smart surfaces (RIS); full-duplex technology for increasing the frequency efficiency of 6G mobile communication technology and improving system networks; AI-based communication technology that achieves system optimization by utilizing satellites and AI (artificial intelligence) from the design stage and internalizing end-to-end AI support functions; and next-generation distributed computing technology that realizes services with complexity that exceed the limits of UE operating capabilities by utilizing ultra-high-performance communication and computing resources. [0037] Wireless communication is one of the most successful innovations in modern history. The number of subscribers to wireless communication services recently surpassed 5 billion and continues to grow rapidly. The demand for wireless data traffic is increasing rapidly due to the growing popularity of smartphones and other mobile data devices (e.g., tablets, "laptop" computers, netbooks, e-book readers, and machine-type devices) among consumers and enterprises. In order to meet the high growth in mobile data traffic and support new applications and deployments, it is critical to improve the efficiency and coverage of the radio interface.

[0038] In order to meet the growing demand for wireless data traffic since the deployment of 4G communication systems and to support various vertical applications, 5G / NR communication systems have been developed and are currently being deployed. 5G / NR communication systems are considered to be implemented in higher frequency (mmWave) bands (e.g., 28 GHz or 60 GHz) to achieve higher data transmission rates, or in lower frequency bands (e.g., 6 GHz) to achieve strong coverage and mobile support. Various aspects of the present disclosure can be applied to the deployment of 5G communication systems, 6G, or even later versions that can use THz bands. In order to reduce the propagation loss of radio waves and increase the transmission distance, beamforming, massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), full-dimensional MIMO (FD-MIMO), array antennas, analog beamforming, and massive antenna technology are discussed in 5G / NR communication systems.

[0039] In addition, in 5G / NR communication systems, system network improvement development based on advanced small cells, cloud radio access networks (RAN), ultra-dense networks, device-to-device (D2D) communication, wireless backhaul, mobile networks, cooperative communications, coordinated multi-point (CoMP), receiving-end interference cancellation, etc. is underway.

[0040] The discussion about 5G systems and their related frequency bands is for reference only, as certain embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented in 5G systems. However, the present disclosure is not limited to 5G systems or their related frequency bands, and embodiments of the present disclosure may be used in any frequency band. For example, various aspects of the present disclosure may also be applied to deploying 5G communication systems, 6G, or even later versions that may use terahertz (THz) frequency bands.

[0041] Below Figures 1 to 3 Various embodiments are described that may be implemented using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) communication techniques in a wireless communication system. Figures 1 to 3 The description is not meant to imply physical or architectural limitations to the manner in which different embodiments may be implemented. Different embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented in any suitably arranged communications system.

[0042] Figure 1 An example wireless network 100 according to the present disclosure is shown. Figure 1 The embodiment of the wireless network 100 shown in FIG. 1 is for illustration only. The plurality of second UEs include UE 115, UE 116, UE 117, and UE 118. In some embodiments, one or more of gNBs 101-103 may communicate with each other and UEs 111-118 using 5G, Long Term Evolution (LTE), LTE-A, WiMAX, or other advanced wireless communication technologies. In some embodiments, multiple UEs (e.g., UE 117, UE 118, and UE 119) may communicate directly with each other via device-to-device communication. In some embodiments, a UE (e.g., UE 119) is outside the coverage area of the network but is able to communicate with other UEs (e.g., UE 118) within or outside the coverage area of the network.

[0046] Dashed lines illustrate the approximate extents of coverage areas 120 and 125, which are shown as generally circular for purposes of illustration and explanation only. It should be clearly understood that coverage areas associated with a gNB, such as coverage areas 120 and 125, may have other shapes, including irregular shapes, depending on the configuration of the gNB and variations in the wireless environment associated with natural and artificial obstacles.

[0047] although Figure 1 An example of a wireless network 100 is shown, but may be Figure 1 Various changes may be made. For example, wireless network 100 may include any number of gNBs and any number of UEs in any suitable arrangement. Moreover, gNB 101 may communicate directly with any number of UEs and provide those UEs with wireless broadband access to network 130. Similarly, each gNB 102-103 may communicate directly with network 130 and provide UEs with direct wireless broadband access to network 130. In addition, gNBs 101, 102, and / or 103 may provide access to other or additional external networks such as an external telephone network or other types of data networks.

[0048] As described in more detail below, one or more UEs 111-116 include circuitry, programming, or a combination thereof, for receiving control signaling in the presence of interference. In certain embodiments, one or more gNBs 101-103 include circuitry, programming, or a combination thereof, for supporting receiving control signaling in the presence of interference.

[0049] Figure 2 An example gNB 102 according to the present disclosure is shown. Figure 2 The embodiment of the gNB 102 shown in FIG. is for illustration only, and Figure 1 Other gNBs may have the same or similar configuration. However, gNBs appear in multiple configurations, and Figure 2 The scope of the present disclosure is not limited to any particular implementation of gNB. It should be noted that gNB 101 and gNB 103 may include the same or similar structure as gNB 102.

[0050] like Figure 2 As shown in , the gNB 102 includes multiple antennas 205a-205n, multiple transceivers 210a-210n, a controller / processor 225, a memory 230, and a backhaul or network interface 235.

[0051] The transceivers 210a-210n receive incoming RF signals from the antennas 205a-205n, such as signals sent by UEs in the network 100. The transceivers 210a-210n downconvert the incoming RF signals to generate IF or baseband signals. The IF or baseband signals are processed by receive (RX) processing circuits in the transceivers 210a-210n and / or the controller / processor 225, which generate processed baseband signals by filtering, decoding and / or digitizing the baseband or IF signals. The controller / processor 225 may also process the baseband signals.

[0052] Transmit (TX) processing circuitry in the transceivers 210a-210n and / or the controller / processor 225 receives analog or digital data (such as voice data, web data, email, or interactive video game data) from the controller / processor 225. The TX processing circuitry encodes, multiplexes, and / or digitizes the outgoing baseband data to generate a processed baseband or IF signal. The transceivers 201a-201n up-convert the baseband or IF signal to an RF signal that is transmitted via the antennas 205a-205n.

[0053] The controller / processor 225 may include one or more processors or other processing devices that control the overall operation of the gNB 102. For example, the controller / processor 225 may control the reception of UL channel signals and the transmission of DL channel signals by the RF transceivers 210a-210n in accordance with well-known principles. The controller / processor 225 may also support additional functionality, such as more advanced wireless communication functionality. For example, the controller / processor 225 may support beamforming or directional routing operations, in which outgoing / incoming signals from / to multiple antennas 205a-205n are weighted differently to effectively direct the outgoing signals in a desired direction. For another example, the controller / processor 225 may support methods for receiving control signals in the presence of interference. The controller / processor 225 may support various other functions in the gNB 102.

[0054] Controller / processor 225 is also capable of executing programs and other processes, such as an OS, located in memory 230. Controller / processor 225 may move data into or out of memory 230 as required by the executing processes.

[0055] The controller / processor 225 is also connected to a backhaul or network interface 235. The backhaul or network interface 235 allows the gNB 102 to communicate with other devices or systems over a backhaul connection or over a network. The interface 235 may support communication over any appropriate (one or more) wired or wireless connection. For example, when the gNB 102 is implemented as part of a cellular communication system (such as one that supports 5G / NR, LTE, or LTE-A), the interface 235 may allow the gNB 102 to communicate with other gNBs over a wired or wireless backhaul connection. When the gNB 102 is implemented as an access point, the interface 235 may allow the gNB 102 to communicate over a wired or wireless local area network or over a wired or wireless connection to a larger network (such as the Internet). The interface 235 includes any appropriate structure that supports communication over a wired or wireless connection such as Ethernet or a transceiver.

[0056] Memory 230 is coupled to controller / processor 225. A portion of memory 230 may include RAM, and another portion of memory 230 may include flash memory or other ROM.

[0057] although Figure 2 An example of gNB 102 is shown, but the Figure 2 For example, gNB 102 may include any number of Figure 2 Each component shown in Figure 2The various components in may be combined, further subdivided, or omitted, and additional components may be added according to specific needs.

UE 116 also includes speaker 330, processor 340, input / output (I / O) interface (IF) 345, input device 350, display 355, and memory 360. Memory 360 includes operating system (OS) 361 and one or more applications 362.

[0060] The transceiver 310 receives incoming RF signals from the antenna 305, which are transmitted by the gNB of the network 100. The transceiver 310 down-converts the incoming RF signals to generate an intermediate frequency (IF) or baseband signal. The IF or baseband signal is processed by the RX processing circuit in the transceiver 310 and / or the controller / processor 340, which generates a processed baseband signal by filtering, decoding and / or digitizing the baseband or IF signal. The RX processing circuit sends the processed baseband signal to the speaker 330 (such as for voice data) or to the processor 340 for processing (such as for web browsing data).

[0061] The TX processing circuit in the transceiver 310 and / or the processor 340 receives analog or digital voice data from the microphone 304 or other outgoing baseband data (such as web data, email, or interactive video game data) from the processor 340. The TX processing circuit encodes, multiplexes, and / or digitizes the outgoing baseband data to generate a processed baseband or IF signal. The transceiver 310 up-converts the baseband or IF signal to an RF signal that is transmitted via the antenna 305.

[0062] The processor 340 may include one or more processors or other processing devices and executes the OS 361 stored in the memory 360 to control the overall operation of the UE 116. For example, the processor 340 may control the reception of DL channel signals and the transmission of UL channel signals by the transceiver 310 according to well-known principles. In some embodiments, the processor 340 includes at least one microprocessor or microcontroller.

[0063] The processor 340 is also capable of executing other processes and programs located in the memory 360, such as a process for receiving control signals in the presence of interference. The processor 340 can move data into or out of the memory 360 as needed to execute the process. In some embodiments, the processor 340 is configured to execute the application 362 based on the OS 361 or in response to a signal received from the gNB or operator. The processor 340 is also connected to the I / O interface 345, which provides the UE 116 with the ability to connect to other devices such as laptops and handheld computers. The I / O interface 345 is the communication path between these accessories and the processor 340.

[0064] Processor 340 is also coupled to input device 350, which includes, for example, a touch screen, a keyboard, etc., and a display 355. An operator of UE 116 may use input device 350 to input data into UE 116. Display 355 may be a liquid crystal display, a light emitting diode display, or other display capable of rendering text and / or at least limited graphics, such as from a website.

[0065] The memory 360 is connected to the processor 340. A portion of the memory 360 may include a random access memory (RAM), and another portion of the memory 360 may include a flash memory or other read-only memory (ROM).

[0066] although Figure 3 An example of UE 116 is shown, but the Figure 3 Make various changes. For example, Figure 3 The various components in may be combined, further subdivided, or omitted, and additional components may be added as required. As a specific example, processor 340 may be divided into multiple processors, such as one or more central processing units (CPUs) and one or more graphics processing units (GPUs). In another example, transceiver 310 may include any number of transceivers and signal processing chains, and may be connected to any number of antennas. Furthermore, although Figure 3 The UE 116 is shown configured as a mobile phone or smart phone, but the UE may be configured to operate as other types of mobile or stationary devices.

[0067] Figure 4 and Figure 5 An example wireless transmission and reception path according to the present disclosure is shown. In the following description, Figure 4 The transmission path 400 of can be described as being implemented in a gNB (e.g., gNB 102), while Figure 5The receive path 500 may be described as being implemented in a UE (e.g., UE 116). However, it is understood that the receive path 500 may be implemented in a gNB and the transmit path 400 may be implemented in a UE. In some embodiments, the receive path 500 is configured to support reception of control signaling in the presence of interference scheduling, as described in embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0068] like Figure 4 The transmit path 400 shown includes a channel coding and modulation block 405, a serial to parallel (S to P) block 410, an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) block of size N 415, a parallel to serial (P to S) block 420, an add cyclic prefix block 425, and an upconverter (UC) 430. Figure 5 The illustrated receive path 500 includes a downconverter (DC) 555 , a remove cyclic prefix block 560 , a serial to parallel (S to P) block 565 , a size N fast Fourier transform (FFT) block 570 , a parallel to serial (P to S) block 575 , and a channel decoding and demodulation block 580 .

[0069] like Figure 4 As shown, the channel coding and modulation block 405 receives a set of information bits, applies coding (e.g., low density parity check (LDPC) coding), and modulates the input bits (e.g., quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) or quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM)) to generate a sequence of frequency domain modulation symbols. The serial to parallel block 410 converts (e.g., demultiplexes) the serial modulation symbols into parallel data to generate N parallel symbol streams, where N is the IFFT / FFT size used in the gNB 102 and the UE 116. The size-N IFFT block 415 performs an IFFT operation on the N parallel symbol streams to generate a time domain output signal. The parallel to serial block 420 converts (e.g., multiplexes) the parallel time domain output symbols from the size-N IFFT block 415 to generate a serial time domain signal. The add cyclic prefix block 425 inserts a cyclic prefix into the time domain signal. An upconverter 430 modulates (eg, upconverts) the output of add cyclic prefix block 425 to an RF frequency for transmission over a wireless channel. The signal may also be filtered at baseband prior to conversion to RF frequency.

[0070] The RF signal transmitted from gNB 102 reaches UE 116 after passing through the wireless channel, and operations opposite to those at gNB 102 are performed at UE 116.

[0071] like Figure 5As shown, the down converter 555 down-converts the received signal to the baseband frequency, and the cyclic prefix removal block 560 removes the cyclic prefix to generate a serial time domain baseband signal. The serial to parallel block 565 converts the time domain baseband signal into a parallel time domain signal. The FFT block 570 of size N performs an FFT algorithm to generate N parallel frequency domain signals. The parallel to serial block 575 converts the parallel frequency domain signals into a sequence of modulated data symbols. The channel decoding and demodulation block 580 demodulates and decodes the modulation symbols to recover the original input data stream.

[0072] Each gNB 101-103 can implement the following Figure 4 The transmission path 400 shown is similar to the transmission to UE 111-116 in the downlink, and can be implemented as follows Figure 5 Receive path 500 is shown, which is similar to receiving from UE 111-116 in the uplink. Similarly, each UE 111-116 can implement transmit path 400 for transmitting to BS 101-103 in the uplink, and can implement receive path 500 for receiving from gNB 101-103 in the downlink.

[0073] Figure 4 and Figure 5 Each component in can be implemented using hardware, or a combination of hardware and software / firmware. As a specific example, Figure 4 and Figure 5 At least some components in can be implemented with software, while other components can be implemented by configurable hardware, or a mixture of software and configurable hardware. For example, FFT block 570 and IFFT block 415 can be implemented as configurable software algorithms, where the value of size N can be modified according to the implementation.

[0074] In addition, although described as using FFT and IFFT, this is only illustrative and should not be construed as limiting the scope of the present disclosure. Other types of transforms may also be used, such as discrete Fourier transform (DFT) and inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) functions. It will be appreciated that for DFT and IDFT functions, the value of variable N may be any integer (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.), while for FFT and IFFT functions, the value of variable N may be any integer that is a power of 2 (e.g., 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc.).

[0075] although Figure 4 and Figure 5 An example of a wireless transmit and receive path is shown, but the Figure 4 and Figure 5 Make various changes. For example, Figure 4 and Figure 5The various components in can be combined, further subdivided or omitted, and additional components can be added according to specific needs. In addition, Figure 4 and Figure 5 It is intended to illustrate the types of transmit and receive paths that may be used in a wireless network. Any other suitable architecture may be used to support wireless communications in a wireless network.

[0076] Either the DL transmission or the UL transmission may be based on an OFDM waveform including a variant using DFT precoding, ie, DFT-spread OFDM which is typically suitable for UL transmission.

[0077] In the following, a subframe (SF) refers to a transmission time unit of an LTE RAT, and a slot refers to a transmission time unit of an NR RAT. For example, the slot duration may be a sub-multiple of the SF duration. NR may use a DL or UL slot structure that is different from the LTE SF structure. The differences may include the structure of the transmission physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), the location and structure of the demodulation reference signal (DM-RS), the transmission duration, etc. In addition, an eNB refers to a base station that serves UEs using an LTE RAT, and a gNB refers to a base station that serves UEs using an NR RAT. The exemplary embodiment considers the same parameter set, which includes a subcarrier spacing (SCS) configuration and a cyclic prefix (CP) length for OFDM symbols, for transmissions utilizing both LTE RAT and NR RAT. In this case, the OFDM symbol of the LTE RAT is the same as the OFDM symbol of the NR RAT, the subframe is the same as the slot, and for brevity, the term "slot" will be used in the remainder of this disclosure.

[0078] The unit used for DL signaling or UL signaling on a cell is called a slot and may include one or more symbols. The bandwidth (BW) unit is called a resource block (RB). One RB includes multiple subcarriers (SCs). For example, the duration of a slot is one millisecond, the bandwidth of an RB is 180kHz and includes 12 SCs with an inter-SC spacing of 15kHz. The subcarrier spacing (SCS) may be determined by the SCS configuration μ, i.e., 2 μ 15kHz. A subcarrier unit in one symbol is called a resource element (RE). A RB unit on one symbol is called a physical RB (PRB).

[0079] DL signaling includes the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) that transmits information content, the PDCCH that transmits DL control information (DCI), and reference signals (RS). As described in 3GPP TS 36.211 v17.1.0 "NR; Physical channels and modulation" and 3GPP TS 38.213 v17.1.0 "NR; Physical Layer procedures for control", the PDCCH can be transmitted on a variable number of slot symbols (including one slot symbol) and multiple CCEs in a predetermined number of CCE sets called control channel elements (CCE) aggregation levels within a control resource set (CORESET).

[0080] Figure 6 An example transmitter structure using OFDM 600 is shown according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 6 The embodiment of a transmitter structure using OFDM 600 shown in FIG. 6 is for illustration only. Figure 6 One or more components shown in the drawings may be implemented in dedicated circuits configured to perform the functions described, or one or more components may be implemented by one or more processors executing instructions to perform the functions described. Figure 6 The scope of the present disclosure is not limited to any particular implementation of a transmitter structure using OFDM 600 .

[0081] like Figure 6 As shown, information bits such as DCI bits or data bits 610 are encoded by encoder 620, rate matched to the allocated time / frequency resources by rate matcher 630, and modulated by modulator 640. Subsequently, the modulated coded symbols and DMRS or CSI-RS 650 are mapped to SC 660 by RE mapping unit 665, inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) is performed by filter 670, CP is added by cyclic prefix (CP) insertion unit 680, and the resulting signal is filtered by filter 690 and transmitted by radio frequency (RF) unit 695.

[0082] Figure 7 An example receiver structure using OFDM 700 is shown in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 7 The embodiment of a receiver structure using OFDM 700 shown in FIG. 7 is for illustration only. Figure 7 One or more components shown in the drawings may be implemented in dedicated circuits configured to perform the functions described, or one or more components may be implemented by one or more processors executing instructions to perform the functions described. Figure 7The scope of the present disclosure is not limited to any particular implementation of a receiver structure using OFDM 700 .

[0083] like Figure 7 As shown, a received signal 710 is filtered by a filter 720, a CP removal unit removes a CP 730, a filter 740 applies a fast Fourier transform (FFT), an RE demapping unit 750 demaps REs selected by a BW selector unit 755, received symbols are demodulated by a channel estimator and demodulator unit 760, a rate dematcher 770 restores rate matching, and a decoder 780 decodes the resulting bits to provide information bits 790.

[0084] DCI can have multiple uses. The DCI format includes information elements (IEs) and is typically used to schedule PDSCH (DLDCI format) or PUSCH (UL DCI format) transmissions. The DCI format includes cyclic redundancy check (CRC) bits so that the UE can confirm correct detection. The DCI format type is identified by the radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) scrambled with the CRC bits. For DCI formats that schedule PDSCH or PUSCH for a single UE with an RRC connection to the eNB, the RNTI is a cell RNTI (C-RNTI) or other RNTI type, for example, MCS-C-RNTI. For DCI formats that schedule PDSCH that transmits system information (SI) to a group of UEs, the RNTI is SI-RNTI. For DCI formats that schedule PDSCH that provides random access (RA) responses from a group of UEs, the RNTI is RA-RNTI. For DCI formats that schedule PDSCH that provides contention resolution in Msg4 of the random access procedure, the RNTI is a temporary C-RNTI (TC-RNTI). For DCI formats that schedule PDSCH that pages a group of UEs, the RNTI is a P-RNTI. For DCI formats that provide transmit power control (TPC) commands to a group of UEs, the RNTI is a TPC-RNTI, and so on. Each RNTI type is configured to the UE via higher layer signaling. The UE typically decodes at multiple candidate locations for potential PDCCH transmissions.

[0085] Figure 8 An example encoding process 800 of a DCI format according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is shown. Figure 8 The embodiment of the encoding process 800 of the DCI format shown in FIG. 8 is for illustration only. Figure 8 The scope of the present disclosure is not limited to any particular implementation of the encoding process 800 for the DCI format.

[0086] The gNB encodes and transmits each DCI format separately in the corresponding PDCCH. When applicable, the RNTI of the UE for which the DCI format is intended masks the CRC of the DCI format codeword to enable the UE to identify the DCI format. For example, the CRC may include 24 bits and the RNTI may include 16 bits or 24 bits. The CRC of the (non-coded) DCI format bits 810 is determined using a CRC calculation unit 820, and the CRC is masked using an exclusive OR (XOR) operation unit 830 between the CRC bits and the RNTI bits 840. The XOR operation is defined as: XOR (0,0) = 0, XOR (0,1) = 1, XOR (1,0) = 1, XOR (1,1) = 0. The masked CRC bits are appended to the DCI format information bits using a CRC append unit 850. The encoder 860 performs channel coding, such as polar coding, and the allocated resources are then rate matched by a rate matcher 870. The interleaving and modulation unit 880 applies interleaving and modulation (eg, QPSK) and then transmits an output control signal 890 .

[0087] Fig. 9 An example decoding process 900 of a DCI format according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is shown. Fig. 9 The embodiment of the decoding process 900 of the DCI format shown in FIG. 9 is for illustration only. Fig. 9 The scope of the present disclosure is not limited to any particular implementation of the decoding process 900 for the DCI format.

[0088] The received control signal 910 is demodulated and deinterleaved by a demodulator and deinterleaver 920. The rate matching applied at the gNB transmitter is recovered by a rate matcher 930 and the resulting bits are decoded by a decoder 940. After decoding, a CRC extractor 950 extracts the CRC bits and provides DCI format information bits 960. The DCI format information bits are demasked 970 by an XOR operation with the RNTI 980 (when applicable) and a CRC check is performed by unit 990. When the CRC check succeeds (checksum is zero), the DCI format information bits are considered valid. When the CRC check is unsuccessful, then the DCI format information bits are considered invalid.

[0089] When NR RAT is introduced in an existing LTE network, both LTE and NR may need to coexist in the same spectrum or in overlapping spectrum. Spectrum sharing is therefore required to support the coexistence of LTE and NR. The spectrum sharing mechanism may depend on multiple factors, including whether the LTE scheduler and the NR scheduler are able to perform coordinated scheduling and whether UEs that can work with NR RAT can also work with LTE RAT. Coordinated scheduling is usually possible when the eNB scheduler for LTE and the gNB scheduler for NR are co-located (in this case, LTE and NR can even use the same scheduler), or connected through a backhaul with negligible latency to exchange dynamic configurations on their respective interfaces. When the conditions for coordinated scheduling cannot be met, uncoordinated scheduling is usually required.

[0090] Common Reference Signal (CRS) is an LTE signal that LTE UEs expect the eNB to always send in the first one or two symbols of a normal DL slot or a Multicast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) slot. For CRS transmission from four antenna ports, the CRS mapping includes the first two symbols of the slot as described in 3GPP TS 36.211 v17.1.0 “E-UTRA; Physical channels and modulation”. The DM-RS mapping for NR PDCCH transmission as described in 3GPP TS 38.211 v17.1.0 “NR; Physical channels and modulation” is different from the CRS mapping, and it is not possible to avoid that some of the REs associated with NR PDCCH used for DM-RS transmission are also used for CRS transmission. Therefore, to avoid impact on the operation of LTE UEs, the gNB can puncture the NR PDCCH transmission on these DM-RS REs, resulting in a non-uniform DM-RS pattern for NR PDCCH in the symbols where CRS is transmitted, and the pattern also depends on the number of shifted REs used for CRS transmission.

[0091] Various embodiments of the present disclosure recognize that one approach to resolving the problem of CRS and NR PDCCH transmissions occupying the same RE in a symbol can avoid such conflicts and require that CRS and NR PDCCH transmissions be performed in different symbols. This can be done as described in 3GPP TS38.213 v17.1.0 “NR; Physical Layer procedures for control”. lte- CRS-ToMatchAround The NR UE is provided with the pattern for CRS transmission and the UE need not receive the PDCCH candidate if any RE of the PDCCH candidate is identical to a CRS RE in the same symbol.

[0092] Various embodiments of the present disclosure recognize that another approach is for the UE to assume that there is no lte-CRS-ToMatchAround The REs of DM-RS transmission associated with the NR PDCCH symbols indicated for CRS transmission are used, and channel estimation is performed on the coded modulation symbols of the DCI format for NR PDCCH using only the DM-RS received in the symbols without CRS for the UE. The disadvantage of the latter method is that it limits the channel estimation to symbols without CRS transmission only, thereby reducing the accuracy of the channel estimation obtained based on DM-RS reception, and reducing the demodulation accuracy of the coded modulation symbols of the DCI format and the reception reliability of the DCI format. Another disadvantage of the latter method is that when there is a conflict with the CRS RE in the symbol without CRS transmission, the RE associated with the DM-RS transmission needs to be kept empty, or there is no undetermined DM-RS, or different rate matching is introduced for the NR PDCCH in such symbols so that the REs used for the coded modulation symbols include the DM-RS REs not used for CRS transmission in the symbol.

[0093] When the network transmits both CRS and NR PDCCH in an RE, the REs associated with NR PDCCH transmission are punctured so that reception using CRS is not affected, while NR PDCCH reception is affected. Nevertheless, CRS REs are generally more important for the first and second antenna ports because they are also used for measurement, and are less important for the third and fourth antenna ports. In addition, according to the system specification, the REs in which both DM-RS and CRS of NR PDCCH are to be transmitted correspond to the same antenna port used for CRS transmission. Since DM-RS transmission is also important for the reception reliability of NR PDCCH, it is beneficial to enable the network to inform the UE whether DM-RS is transmitted in an RE (in which CRS can also be transmitted according to the system specification).

[0094] Coexistence of a first UE supporting puncturing of symbols for CRS transmission and PDCCH reception in REs in the same CORESET and a second UE (legacy UE) not supporting such puncturing is advantageous to avoid fragmentation of resources and improve coverage. NR PDCCH reception cannot usually be supported in the first symbol of a slot because, in addition to CRS, channels such as PHICH and PCFICH defined in 3GPP TS36.211 v17.1.0 "E-UTRA; Physical channels and modulation" need to be transmitted. Otherwise, if the CORESET for the second UE is only located in the third symbol of the slot without CRS transmission, then since the bandwidth associated with LTE-NR coexistence is usually small, such as 10 MHz or 20 MHz, the CORESET for the first UE including the second symbol of the slot cannot be on a non-overlapping PRB with respect to the CORESET of the second UE and needs to be included only in the second symbol of the slot because, due to REG mapping and interleaving, it is not practically possible to support non-overlapping PDCCH transmissions in a CORESET that overlaps in the frequency domain and includes different symbols in the time domain. This separation of CORESETs in the time domain may result in resource segmentation for PDCCH transmission and degrade the coverage of at least the first UE, as PDCCH reception in symbols with CRS transmission will be less than in symbols without CRS transmission due to puncturing.

[0095] Various embodiments of the present disclosure recognize that it is necessary to enable NR PDCCH reception including symbols with LTE CRS without requiring different UE processes for channel estimation using DM-RS for NR PDCCH in the symbols. In addition, various embodiments of the present disclosure recognize that it is necessary to achieve differentiation of rate matching caused by CRS transmission in REs with coded modulation symbols and in REs with DM-RS for NR PDCCH reception. In addition, various embodiments of the present disclosure recognize that it is necessary to enable the network to indicate to the UE whether to transmit DM-RS in REs where CRS will also be transmitted or in symbols including REs where CRS will be transmitted, according to the system specification. In addition, various embodiments of the present disclosure recognize that it is necessary to enable PDCCH reception by a first UE and a second UE in a CORESET including symbols with CRS transmission, wherein the first UE supports PDCCH reception on symbols including symbols with CRS transmission and the second UE does not support PDCCH reception on symbols including symbols with CRS transmission.

[0096] Therefore, various embodiments of the present disclosure provide mechanisms for enabling NR PDCCH reception including symbols with LTE CRS REs without requiring different UE processes for channel estimation using DM-RS for NR PDCCH in the symbols. Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide mechanisms for distinguishing rate matching caused by CRS transmission in REs with coded modulation symbols and in REs with DM-RS for NR PDCCH reception. According to the system specification, various embodiments of the present disclosure provide mechanisms for enabling the network to indicate to the UE whether the DM-RS is transmitted in REs where CRS will also be transmitted or in symbols including REs where CRS will be transmitted. Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide mechanisms for enabling PDCCH reception in a CORESET including symbols with CRS transmission by a first UE that supports PDCCH reception on symbols including symbols with CRS transmission and by a second UE that does not support PDCCH reception on symbols including symbols with CRS transmission.

[0097] The term "higher layers" is used to refer to control information provided by the UE in PDSCH reception, such as Radio Resource Control (RRC) or Medium Access Control (MAC) Control Elements (CEs).

[0098] In the following, PDCCH refers to NR PDCCH, CRS refers to LTE CRS, DM-RS refers to the demodulation RS of NR PDCCH, and DCI symbol refers to the coded modulation symbol of the DCI format provided by NR PDCCH (also called PDCCH).

[0099] One embodiment of the present disclosure considers a rate matching process for NR PDCCH reception in symbols with LTE CRS transmission.

[0100] When PDCCH transmission and CRS transmission are in the same symbol of one slot, a physical resource block (PRB) of 12 resource elements (REs) on the symbol includes 4 REs with CRS transmission, with uniform spacing of 3 REs as described in 3GPP TS36.211 v17.1.0 "E-UTRA; Physical channels and modulation", and includes 3 REs with DM-RS transmission for PDCCH, with uniform spacing of 4 REs as described in 3GPP TS38.211 v17.1.0 "NR; Physical channels and modulation". Therefore, within the PRB, one RE is used to transmit both DM-RS and CRS, and 3 REs are used to transmit both DCI symbols and CRS. Equivalently, when CRS is received instead, 25% of the REs used for DM-RS reception in a PRB may provide inaccurate information when receiving CRS, and when CRS is received instead, 33.3% of the REs used for reception of DCI symbols in a PRB may provide inaccurate information when receiving CRS.

[0101] The puncturing of the DM-RS and DCI symbols received by the UE in the REs of the PRBs that can be used for CRS transmission has a different meaning for the DM-RS used for channel estimation than for the DCI symbols. When the REs used for receiving DM-RS are punctured, the result is either that the DM-RS pattern in the symbol becomes non-uniform or that, in order to keep the DM-RS pattern uniform, no DM-RS transmission exists in the symbol and the channel estimation can only be based on the DM-RS in other symbols (if any) of the PDCCH transmission. While the latter solution maintains the uniform DM-RS structure, some changes to the channel estimation process are required, and due to the absence of DM-RS in the symbol, the reception reliability of the DCI symbol may be lost because 75% of the DM-RS REs are valid and do not include CRS transmission. A UE that is unable to perform channel estimation based on a non-uniform DM-RS structure can indicate the ability to receive PDCCH only when at least one symbol of the PDCCH does not include REs for CRS transmission indication. The UE can then use the uniform DM-RS structure in the PDCCH symbols that do not include REs for CRS transmission indication to perform channel estimation for PDCCH reception.

[0102] In addition, since there are first / legacy UEs that do not support receiving PDCCH in symbols including CRS transmission, the CORESET used for the first UE to receive PDCCH needs to include symbols without CRS transmission. For relatively small system bandwidths associated with LTE-NR coexistence (e.g., 10 MHz or 20 MHz), it is generally not possible to extend the first CORESET that includes symbols with CRS transmission to also include symbols without CRS transmission. This is because the bandwidth of the first CORESET overlaps with the bandwidth of the second CORESET, such as the CORESET with index 0 described in TS38.213 v17.1.0 "NR; Physical Layer procedures for control", which is used for the first UE to receive PDCCH, and since PDCCH mapping and interleaving depends on the symbol number of the CORESET as described in 3GPP TS38.213 v17.1.0 "NR; Physical channels and modulation", it is not possible to have PDCCH transmissions simultaneously on the same or overlapping bandwidth in CORESETs spanning different symbol numbers.

[0103] Considering the above, it is generally undesirable or infeasible to have no DM-RS transmission in symbols with CRS transmission. In this case, in order to enable PDCCH transmission in symbols with CRS transmission, the puncturing for PDCCH reception may include REs for DCI symbols where CRS transmission may also be performed, while the puncturing of REs for DM-RS transmission may be separately indicated, and the network may then decide whether to transmit CRS or DM-RS in the symbol. In addition, the UE may indicate the ability to receive PDCCH in any symbol regardless of the presence of REs indicating an indication for CRS transmission in the symbol, for example, when the UE may perform channel estimation based on a non-uniform DM-RS pattern resulting from puncturing / absence of DM-RS transmission in REs of PRBs where CRS may be transmitted. This capability indication may enable the network to be aware of the reduced reliability of the UE's DCI format reception and adjust the number of control channel elements (CCEs) used to transmit PDCCH to the UE accordingly.

[0104] It may also be assumed that the network expects to transmit CRS, and then the network may provide an indication of whether to transmit DM-RS in REs that do not overlap with CRS REs among symbols with CRS REs. For example, if the indication is to transmit DM-RS, the UE may use DM-RS for channel estimation; and if the indication is not to transmit DM-RS, for example, when the network deems it best to allow the corresponding RE to transmit and use the relevant power for power enhancement of other signaling, the UE may use only DM-RS in symbols without CRS REs for channel estimation associated with demodulation of coded modulation symbols in the DCI format.

[0105] For example, the network may communicate via a system information block or via UE-specific higher layer signaling such as lte-CRS- ToMatchAround-new The parameters of inform the UE of the CRS matching pattern. The UE then performs rate matching (puncturing / skipping) on the reception of DCI symbols in the symbols and REs that include CRS transmission. lte-CRS-ToMatchAround-new May be different from that provided for legacy UEs in TS 38.331 v17.0.0 "NR; Radio Resource Control (RRC) Protocol Specification" lte-CRS-ToMatchAround Parameters. For example, lte-CRS-ToMatchAround-new An indication for the number of CRS ports (which may be set to 4), or an indication for the CRS bandwidth (which may be set to include the bandwidth of the CORESET with the PDCCH transmission), or an indication of the MBSFN subframe may not be included, since the MBSFN subframe indication is not relevant when the PDCCH transmission is only in the second symbol of the timeslot and the CRS transmission uses 4 antenna ports.

[0106] The network may separately inform the UE whether to rate match the reception of DM-RS in REs of symbols including CRS transmission. For example, the network may provide the parameter via a system information block or via UE-specific higher layer signaling. lte-CRS- ToMatchDM-RS , with the value "enabled" or "disabled", or with the value "disabled" (when puncturing is default / enabled when the parameter is not provided by the network). Regardless of whether the network provides the UE with a separate parameter for enabling / disabling DM-RS puncturing, the UE may indicate the ability to receive PDCCH in any symbol, for example, by dropping the puncturing provided by lte-CRS-ToMatchAround-new The UE may perform channel estimation using the DM-RS REs indicated for CRS transmission, or when the UE is unable to perform channel estimation based on a non-uniform DM-RS structure, the UE may indicate the ability to receive PDCCH only when at least one of the symbols used for PDCCH reception does not include any REs indicated for CRS transmission.

[0107] Fig.10An example method 1000 for a UE to receive a PDCCH in a PRB transmitting a CRS according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is shown. Fig.10 The embodiment of the example method 1000 for a UE to receive a PDCCH in a PRB transmitting a CRS is shown for illustration only. Fig.10 The scope of the present disclosure is not limited to any particular implementation of example method 1000 for a UE to receive a PDCCH in a PRB that transmits a CRS.

[0108] like Fig.10 As shown, method 1000 begins at step 1010, where a UE (eg, UE 116) receives a parameter indicating REs for CRS transmission in a time slot. lte-CRS-ToMatchAround-new , and second information for a CORESET and an associated search space set for PDCCH reception. The CORESET includes symbols with CRS transmission determined by a parameter. For example, the parameter may indicate an RE shift for determining the position of REs for CRS in a PRB, and when the UE is provided with the parameter, the UE may assume that the number of CRS ports is 4. At step 1020, the UE provides an indication of the ability of the UE to perform channel estimation using DM-RS received for PDCCH in symbols with CRS transmission, i.e., whether the UE requires that at least one symbol received by the PDCCH does not include any RE indicated for CRS transmission. At step 1030, the UE determines whether the DM-RS is capable of performing channel estimation based on the DM-RS received for PDCCH. lte-CRS-ToMatchAround-new The UE may also exclude the REs that indicate the DCI symbols in which the CRS is transmitted to receive the PDCCH. lte-CRS-ToMatchAround-new The determined REs for DM-RS reception in which CRS transmission is performed are indicated.

[0109] One embodiment of the present disclosure considers a mechanism that enables a network to control the reliability of reception or measurement based on a CRS or a DM-RS.

[0110] CRS and DM-RS are transmitted once in the same RE in each PRB of a symbol with CRS and DM-RS transmission. In addition, the CRS transmission is from the same antenna port. The network can control the reliability of reception or measurement based on CRS or DM-RS by indicating a pattern in which DM-RS is or is not transmitted in REs, where otherwise both DM-RS and CRS are transmitted based on the system specifications described in TS 36.211 v17.1.0 "E-UTRA; Physical channels and modulation" and TS 38.211 v17.1.0 "NR; Physical channels and modulation". The granularity of the pattern can be RB or REG, or a multiple of RB or REG. When all PRBs / REGs of a symbol are not used for PDCCH transmission, the network can also select PRBs / REGs with DM-RS transmission for PDCCH transmission and avoid PRBs / REGs without DM-RS transmission among REs, where both DM-RS and CRS are otherwise sent based on the system specifications.

[0111] With respect to the UE described in TS 38.211 v17.1.0 “NR; Physical channels and modulation”, a UE that may perform channel estimation based on a modified DM-RS pattern may include REs in which DM-RS are transmitted based on a corresponding indication for DM-RS transmission from a pattern provided by the network for REs in which both DM-RS and CRS are to be transmitted based on system specifications. Conversely, for channel estimation, the UE may exclude REs in which DM-RS are not transmitted based on a corresponding indication for DM-RS transmission from the pattern. In lieu of the pattern, the gNB may provide an indication, such as through an SIB or UE-specific higher layer signaling, indicating whether DM-RS are transmitted in REs of a symbol including CRS REs, rather than transmitting DM-RS in REs overlapping with CRS REs. For example, when a symbol includes DM-RS REs overlapping with CRS REs, the gNB may indicate that DM-RS are not transmitted in any REs of a symbol of a CORESET. This may prevent the UE implementation from using DM-RS REs in symbols including a CORESET of CRS REs, and the gNB may use, for example, DM-RS REs that do not overlap with CRS REs (in symbols including a CORESET of CRS REs) to increase the transmission power of coded modulation symbols of PDCCH candidates in the symbol.

[0112] Fig.11An example method 1100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is shown, which is used to notify a UE of REs used for DM-RS transmission and REs used for CRS transmission among REs that can be used for both DM-RS transmission and CRS transmission. Fig.11 The embodiment of the method 1100 for notifying a UE of REs used for DM-RS transmission and REs used for CRS transmission among REs available for both DM-RS transmission and CRS transmission shown in FIG. 1 is for illustration only. Fig.11 The scope of the present disclosure is not limited to any particular implementation of the method 1100 for notifying a UE of REs used for DM-RS transmission and REs used for CRS transmission among REs available for both DM-RS transmission and CRS transmission.

[0113] like Fig.11 As shown, method 1100 starts at step 1110, where the network provides information of a pattern of presence or absence of DM-RS transmission to the UE. The pattern corresponds to REs in which both DM-RS and CRS associated with PDCCH reception will be transmitted in symbols of the CORESET based on system specifications. The granularity of the pattern can be predetermined, such as a predetermined multiple of PRBs, REGs, or PRBs / REGs, or can be indicated by the network, such as indicating multiples of PRBs (including all PRBs in a symbol). The pattern can be in the form of a bitmap, where a value of "0" indicates DM-RS transmission and a value of "1" indicates the absence of DM-RS transmission, or conversely, where the pattern is reduced to a single bit when the pattern applies to all PRBs in a symbol of the CORESET including the CRS RE. At step 1120, based on the pattern, the UE determines whether to transmit DM-RS in the RE. Based on the system specification, the RE can be a first RE in which both DM-RS and CRS would otherwise be transmitted, or a second RE in which only DM-RS would otherwise be transmitted. When the UE determines that the DM-RS is transmitted in the RE, then at step 1130, the UE uses the reception in the RE to perform channel estimation; otherwise, at step 1140, the UE excludes the reception in the RE from the reception in the RE that the UE uses to perform channel estimation.

[0114] Embodiments of the present disclosure consider a mechanism for enabling PDCCH reception by a first UE and a second UE in a CORESET including symbols for CRS transmission, wherein the first UE supports PDCCH reception punctured in REs indicated for CRS transmission, and the second UE does not support PDCCH reception punctured in REs indicated for CRS transmission.

[0115] According to the specification of LTE system operation, the exemplary embodiment considers a CORESET including a second symbol and a third symbol in a time slot and CRS transmission on the second symbol of the time slot. The network provides a first parameter to a first UE supporting puncturing for PDCCH reception in REs indicated by CRS transmission lte-CRS-ToMatchAround-new , the parameter indicates that a CRS is present in the RE of the second symbol of the time slot, and the first UE performs rate matching (puncturing) on the reception of the DCI symbol and the reception of the DM-RS in the RE. In addition, unless the first UE indicates the ability to perform channel estimation when the DM-RS is punctured in some REs of the symbol or the ability to generally receive the PDCCH in the REs including the REs for CRS transmission indication, the DM-RS may be punctured in all REs of the second symbol, and the first UE may perform channel estimation based only on the reception of the DM-RS in the third symbol. The network provides the second parameter to the second UE that does not support puncturing for the reception of the PDCCH in the REs for the CRS transmission indication lte-CRS-ToMatchAround , the second parameter lte-CRS-ToMatchAround There is no indication of the presence of CRS in the REs of the second symbol of the slot, e.g., CRS transmission from only two antenna ports as described in 3GPP TS 36.211 v17.1.0 "NR; Physical channel and modulation", or no parameters indicating the presence of CRS are provided. The second UE does not perform rate matching (puncturing) for the reception of DCI symbols and DM-RS in any RE of the second symbol.

[0116] Fig.12 An example method 1200 for a network to support PDCCH reception by a first UE and a second UE in a CORESET including symbols with CRS transmission according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is shown, wherein the first UE supports PDCCH reception with puncturing in REs and the second UE does not support PDCCH reception with puncturing in REs. Fig.12 The illustrated embodiment of the example method 1200 for a network to support PDCCH reception by a first UE supporting PDCCH reception puncturing in REs and by a second UE not supporting PDCCH reception puncturing in REs in a CORESET including symbols with CRS transmission is for illustration only. Fig.12 The scope of the present disclosure is not limited to any particular implementation of example method 1200 for a network to support PDCCH reception by a first UE supporting PDCCH reception puncturing in REs and by a second UE not supporting PDCCH reception puncturing in REs in a CORESET including symbols with CRS transmission.

[0117] like Fig.12 As shown, method 1200 begins at step 1210, where the network uses a first parameter lte-CRS- ToMatchAround-new First information indicating unavailable REs (such as REs corresponding to CRS transmission) for PDCCH reception in a first symbol of a time slot is provided to a first UE, and for example, a second parameter is used to lte-CRS-ToMatchAround Second information indicating unavailable REs (such as REs corresponding to CRS transmission) for PDCCH reception in a second symbol of the time slot or no second information is provided to the second UE. The first symbol is different from the second symbol. For example, the second symbol is a subset of the first symbol. At step 1220, the network provides third information for the CORESET to the first UE and the second UE, the third information including symbols indicated to the first UE as having unavailable REs for PDCCH reception and not including symbols indicated to the second UE as having unavailable REs for PDCCH reception. At step 1230, the first UE receives the PDCCH in the CORESET by excluding reception in REs indicated as unavailable by the first parameter, and the second UE receives the PDCCH in the CORESET by not excluding any REs.
