AI Technical Summary
In wireless communication systems, coherent joint transmission (CJT) technology results in increased channel state information (CSI) reporting complexity, especially in the case of multiple sets of transmission and reception points (TRPs).
The complexity of CSI reporting at user equipment (UE) is reduced by dividing multiple TRPs into defined sets and supporting corresponding TRP sets of different numbers of spatial multiplexing layers. The technology includes receiving control signaling indicating a set of multiple TRPs and a set of measurement resources, performing measurements, sending a CSI report including a first CSI portion and a second CSI portion, and receiving a phase-coherent joint transmission of a downlink message according to the CSI report.
By grouping TRPs to support different number of spatial multiplexing layers, CSI reporting is simplified, CSI computing complexity and feedback overhead at the UE is reduced, and coverage and average throughput of wireless communication systems are improved.

Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The following relates to wireless communications, including techniques for coherent joint transmission (CJT) across multiple transmit receive point (TRP) sets. Background Art
[0002] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, and the like. These systems may be able to support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems (such as long term evolution (LTE) systems, advanced LTE (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems) and fifth generation (5G) systems (which may be referred to as new radio (NR) systems). These systems may employ techniques such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include one or more base stations, each of which supports wireless communications for communication devices, which may be referred to as user equipment (UE).
[0003] Some wireless communications support coherent joint transmission (CJT), in which messages are sent coherently (e.g., with the same phase) across multiple transmit receive points (TRPs). For example, a first TRP and a second TRP may send the same downlink message such that the downlink message exhibits phase coherence at the two respective TRPs. However, CJT may result in increased complexity when channel state information (CSI) reporting is involved. Summary of the invention
[0004] The described technology relates to improved methods, systems, devices and apparatuses that support techniques for coherent joint transmission (CJT) across multiple transmit receive point (TRP) sets. In general, aspects of the present disclosure support configuration, rules and signaling for grouping multiple TRPs into a defined set of TRPs for coherent joint transmission (CJT) for multi-TRP (mTRP) transmission in order to reduce the complexity of CSI reporting at the user equipment (UE). In other words, aspects of the present disclosure may enable TRPs to be grouped into corresponding TRP sets that support different numbers of spatial multiplexing layers. The grouping of TRPs for CJT may be determined by the network or by the UE.

[0060] Some wireless communications support coherent joint transmission (CJT), in which messages are sent coherently (e.g., with the same phase) across multiple transmit receive points (TRPs). For example, a first TRP and a second TRP may send the same downlink message such that the downlink message exhibits phase coherence at the two corresponding TRPs. In some cases, the channels between the UE and the corresponding TRPs may be different (e.g., the channel between the UE and TRP1 may exhibit better performance than the channel between the UE and TRP2). Therefore, the corresponding TRPs may support (or correspond to) different numbers of spatial multiplexing layers (e.g., different ranks). However, when it comes to channel state information (CSI) reporting for multi-TRP (mTRP) CJT with unrestricted layer-to-TRP mapping, reporting CSI information for multiple TRPs and multiple ranks / layers may result in greater CSI computation complexity and greater feedback overhead at the UE.
[0061] Thus, aspects of the present disclosure relate to configuration, rules, and signaling that restricts TRP selection for transmission of mTRP CJT to a limited set of TRPs based on the number of spatial multiplexing layers supported. In other words, aspects of the present disclosure enable TRPs to be grouped into corresponding sets of TRPs supporting different numbers of spatial multiplexing layers, where the grouping of TRPs for CJT can be determined by the network or by the UE.
[0062] In the context of a UE-selected TRP set, the UE may receive control signaling from the network indicating a TRP set that may be used for CJT, and may perform measurements on reference signals received from the corresponding TRPs. Based on the measurements, the UE may report a mapping between a set of TRPs and a corresponding set of spatial multiplexing layers supported by the set of TRPs. Subsequently, the UE may receive CJT from a corresponding TRP set in the corresponding TRP set according to the reported layer-to-TRP mapping.
[0063] Such specific implementations of the subject matter described in the present disclosure may be implemented to achieve one or more of the following potential advantages. For example, enabling a UE to perform measurements on signals received from a TRP and indicating a mapping between a set of TRPs and the number of supported spatial multiplexing layers may enable a network to perform mTRP CJT according to the indicated mapping. Thus, aspects of the present disclosure may enable mTRP CJT to be performed within a set of TRPs supporting the same number of spatial multiplexing layers.
[0064] In comparison, in the context of a network-selected TRP set, the network may indicate to the UE a mapping between a set of TRPs and a corresponding transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state group. Additionally, the network may indicate a mapping between a TCI state group and a set of demodulation reference signal (DMRS) ports, a set of spatial multiplexing layers, or both. In this regard, by indicating the corresponding mapping to the UE, the UE may be configured to monitor the mTRP CJT sent by the corresponding TRP set according to the mapping.
[0065] Such specific implementations of the subject matter described in the present disclosure may also be implemented to achieve one or more of the following potential advantages. For example, the network selects and indicates the mapping between a set of TRPs and corresponding TCI state groups and the mapping between TCI state groups and supported DMRS ports / spatial multiplexing layers, which may enable the network to perform mTRP CJT transmission using a set of TRPs corresponding to the same TCI state group and supporting the same DMRS port / spatial multiplexing layer. Therefore, various aspects of the present disclosure may promote more efficient and widespread use of mTRP CJT, which may improve coverage and average throughput within the network.
[0066] Various aspects of the disclosure are first described in the context of a wireless communication system. Additional aspects of the disclosure are described in the context of example CJT report configurations and example process flows. Various aspects of the disclosure are further illustrated by apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow diagrams relating to techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets, and various aspects of the disclosure are described with reference to these diagrams.
[0067] Figure 1 An example of a wireless communication system 100 that supports techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more network entities 105, one or more UEs 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, an Advanced LTE (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, a New Radio (NR) network, or a network operating according to other systems and radio technologies, including future systems and radio technologies not explicitly mentioned herein.
[0068] The network entities 105 may be dispersed throughout a geographic area to form the wireless communication system 100 and may include devices in different forms or with different capabilities. In various examples, the network entities 105 may be referred to as network elements, mobility elements, radio access network (RAN) nodes, or network equipment, among other nomenclature. In some examples, the network entities 105 and the UE 115 may communicate wirelessly via one or more communication links 125 (e.g., radio frequency (RF) access links). For example, the network entity 105 may support a coverage area 110 (e.g., a geographic coverage area) within which the UE 115 and the network entity 105 may establish one or more communication links 125. The coverage area 110 may be an example of a geographic area within which the network entity 105 and the UE 115 may support signal communications according to one or more radio access technologies (RATs).
[0069] The UEs 115 may be dispersed throughout the coverage area 110 of the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be stationary or mobile, or stationary and mobile at different times. The UEs 115 may be devices in different forms or with different capabilities. Figure 1 Some example UEs 115 are illustrated in FIG. 1. The UEs 115 described herein may be capable of supporting communications with various types of devices, such as Figure 1 Other UEs 115 or network entities 105 are shown.
[0070] As described herein, a node of the wireless communication system 100 (which may be referred to as a network node or a wireless node) may be a network entity 105 (e.g., any network entity described herein), a UE 115 (e.g., any UE described herein), a network controller, an apparatus, a device, a computing system, one or more components, or another suitable processing entity configured to perform any of the techniques described herein. For example, the node may be a UE 115. As another example, the node may be a network entity 105. As another example, a first node may be configured to communicate with a second node or a third node. In one aspect of this example, the first node may be a UE 115, the second node may be a network entity 105, and the third node may be a UE 115. In another aspect of this example, the first node may be a UE 115, the second node may be a network entity 105, and the third node may be a network entity 105. In other aspects of this example, the first node, the second node, and the third node may be different relative to these examples. Similarly, references to UE 115, network entity 105, apparatus, device, computing system, etc. may include disclosure of UE 115, network entity 105, apparatus, device, computing system, etc. as nodes. For example, a disclosure that UE 115 is configured to receive information from network entity 105 also discloses that the first node is configured to receive information from a second node.
[0071] In some examples, the network entities 105 may communicate with the core network 130, or with each other, or both. For example, the network entities 105 may communicate with the core network 130 via one or more backhaul communication links 120 (e.g., according to S1, N2, N3, or other interface protocols). In some examples, the network entities 105 may communicate with each other via the backhaul communication links 120 (e.g., according to X2, Xn, or other interface protocols) directly (e.g., directly between the network entities 105) or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130). In some examples, the network entities 105 may communicate with each other via the midhaul communication links 162 (e.g., according to the midhaul interface protocol) or the fronthaul communication links 168 (e.g., according to the fronthaul interface protocol) or any combination thereof. The backhaul communication links 120, the midhaul communication links 162, or the fronthaul communication links 168 may be or include one or more wired links (e.g., electrical links, optical fiber links), one or more wireless links (e.g., radio links, wireless optical links), etc. or various combinations thereof. UE 115 may communicate with core network 130 via communication link 155 .
[0072] One or more of the network entities 105 described herein may include or may be referred to as a base station 140 (e.g., a transceiver base station, a radio base station, an NR base station, an access point, a radio transceiver, a Node B, an evolved Node B (eNB), a next generation Node B, or a Gigabit Node B (any of which may be referred to as a gNB), a 5G NB, a next generation eNB (ng-eNB), a Home Node B, a Home Evolved Node B, or other suitable terms). In some examples, the network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) may be implemented in an aggregated (e.g., monolithic, stand-alone) base station architecture, which may be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically integrated within a single network entity 105 (e.g., a single RAN node, such as a base station 140).
[0073] In some examples, the network entity 105 may be implemented in a disaggregated architecture (e.g., a disaggregated base station architecture, a disaggregated RAN architecture) that may be configured to utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed between two or more network entities 105, such as an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open RAN (O-RAN) (e.g., a network configuration sponsored by the O-RAN Alliance), or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) (e.g., a cloud RAN (C-RAN)). For example, the network entity 105 may include one or more of the following: a central unit (CU) 160, a distributed unit (DU) 165, a radio unit (RU) 170, a RAN intelligent controller (RIC) 175 (e.g., a near real-time RIC (near RT RIC), a non-real-time RIC (non-RT RIC)), a service management and orchestration (SMO) 180 system, or any combination thereof. The RU 170 may also be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, a remote radio head (RRH), a remote radio unit (RRU), or a TRP (TRP). One or more components of the network entity 105 in the decomposed RAN architecture may be co-located, or one or more components of the network entity 105 may be located in distributed locations (e.g., separate physical locations). In some examples, one or more network entities 105 of the decomposed RAN architecture may be implemented as virtual units (e.g., virtual CU (VCU), virtual DU (VDU), virtual RU (VRU)).
[0074] The functional split between CU 160, DU 165, and RU 170 is flexible and may support different functionalities depending on which functions (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, RF functions, and any combination thereof) are performed at CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170. For example, a functional split of a protocol stack may be employed between CU 160 and DU 165 such that CU 160 may support one or more layers of a protocol stack and DU 165 may support one or more different layers of a protocol stack. In some examples, CU 160 may host higher protocol layer (e.g., Layer 3 (L3), Layer 2 (L2)) functionality and signaling (e.g., Radio Resource Control (RRC), Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAP), Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP)). The CU 160 may be connected to one or more DUs 165 or RUs 170, and the one or more DUs 165 or RUs 170 may host lower protocol layers, such as layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, medium access control (MAC) layer) functionality and signaling, and may each be at least partially controlled by the CU 160. Additionally or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between the DUs 165 and the RUs 170, such that the DUs 165 may support one or more layers of the protocol stack, and the RUs 170 may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. The DUs 165 may support one or more different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs 170). In some cases, the functional split between CU 160 and DU 165 or between DU 165 and RU 170 may be within a protocol layer (e.g., some functions of a protocol layer may be performed by one of CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170, while other functions of the protocol layer are performed by a different one of CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170). CU 160 may be further functionally split into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. CU 160 may be connected to one or more DUs 165 via midhaul communication links 162 (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u), and DU 165 may be connected to one or more RUs 170 via fronthaul communication links 168 (e.g., an open fronthaul (FH) interface). In some examples, midhaul communication link 162 or fronthaul communication link 168 may be implemented according to interfaces (eg, channels) between layers of a protocol stack supported by respective network entities 105 that communicate via those communication links.
[0075] In some wireless communication systems (e.g., wireless communication system 100), infrastructure and spectrum resources for radio access may support wireless backhaul link capabilities to supplement wired backhaul connections, thereby providing an IAB network architecture (e.g., to core network 130). In some cases, in an IAB network, one or more network entities 105 (e.g., IAB nodes 104) may be partially controlled by each other. One or more IAB nodes 104 may be referred to as donor entities or IAB donors. One or more DUs 165 or one or more RUs 170 may be controlled in part by one or more CUs 160 associated with a donor network entity 105 (e.g., donor base station 140). One or more donor network entities 105 (e.g., IAB donors) may communicate with one or more additional network entities 105 (e.g., IAB nodes 104) via supported access and backhaul links (e.g., backhaul communication links 120). The IAB node 104 may include an IAB mobile terminal (IAB-MT) controlled (e.g., scheduled) by a coupled IAB donor's DU 165. The IAB-MT may include an independent set of antennas for relaying communications with the UE 115, or may share the same antennas (e.g., of the RU 170) of the IAB node 104 for access via the DU 165 of the IAB node 104 (e.g., referred to as a virtual IAB-MT (vIAB-MT)). In some examples, the IAB node 104 may include a DU 165 that supports communication links with additional entities (e.g., IAB node 104, UE 115) within a relay chain or configuration (e.g., downstream) of the access network. In such cases, one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture (e.g., one or more IAB nodes 104 or components of the IAB node 104) may be configured to operate according to the techniques described herein.
[0076] Where the techniques described herein are applied to the context of a disaggregated RAN architecture, one or more components of the disaggregated RAN architecture may be configured to support the techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets as described herein. For example, some operations described as being performed by a UE 115 or a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) may additionally or alternatively be performed by one or more components of the disaggregated RAN architecture (e.g., an IAB node 104, a DU 165, a CU 160, a RU 170, a RIC 175, a SMO 180).
[0077] UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable term, where a "device" may also be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, etc. UE 115 may also include or may be referred to as a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or a machine type communication (MTC) device, etc., which may be implemented in various objects such as appliances or vehicles, meters, etc.
[0078] The UE 115 described herein may be capable of communicating with various types of devices such as other UEs 115 which may sometimes act as relays, as well as network entities 105 and network equipment including macro eNBs or gNBs, small cell eNBs or gNBs, or relay base stations, etc. Figure 1 shown.
[0079] The UE 115 and the network entity 105 may wirelessly communicate with each other via one or more communication links 125 (e.g., access links) using resources associated with one or more carriers. The term "carrier" may refer to a collection of RF spectrum resources having a physical layer structure defined for supporting the communication link 125. For example, a carrier for the communication link 125 may include a portion of an RF spectrum band (e.g., a bandwidth portion (BWP)) that operates according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). Each physical layer channel may carry acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling for coordinating carrier operations, user data, or other signaling. The wireless communication system 100 may support communications with the UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. Depending on the carrier aggregation configuration, the UE 115 may be configured with multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers. Carrier aggregation may be used for both frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) component carriers. Communication between the network entity 105 and other devices may refer to communication between these devices and any portion (e.g., entity, sub-entity) of the network entity 105. For example, the terms "send," "receive," or "communicate" when referring to the network entity 105 may refer to any portion of a network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, CU 160, DU 165, RU 170) of a RAN communicating with another device (e.g., directly or via one or more other network entities 105).
[0080] In some examples, such as in a carrier aggregation configuration, a carrier may also have acquisition signaling or control signaling that coordinates the operation of other carriers. A carrier may be associated with a frequency channel (e.g., an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) Absolute RF Channel Number (EARFCN)) and may be identified based on a channel raster for discovery by UE 115. A carrier may operate in a standalone mode, in which case initial acquisition and connection may be made by UE 115 via the carrier, or a carrier may operate in a non-standalone mode, in which case the connection is anchored using a different carrier (e.g., a different carrier of the same or different radio access technology).
[0081] The communication link 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include downlink transmissions (e.g., forward link transmissions) from the network entity 105 to the UE 115, uplink transmissions (e.g., return link transmissions) from the UE 115 to the network entity 105, or both, among other transmission configurations. A carrier may carry either downlink communications or uplink communications (e.g., in FDD mode), or may be configured to carry both downlink communications and uplink communications (e.g., in TDD mode).
[0082] A carrier may be associated with a particular bandwidth of the RF spectrum, and in some examples, the carrier bandwidth may be referred to as a "system bandwidth" of the carrier or wireless communication system 100. For example, the carrier bandwidth may be one of a set of bandwidths (e.g., 1.4 megahertz (MHz), 3 MHz, 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 15 MHz, 20 MHz, 40 MHz, or 80 MHz) of a carrier of a particular radio access technology. A device (e.g., a network entity 105, a UE 115, or both) of the wireless communication system 100 may have a hardware configuration that supports communications using a particular carrier bandwidth, or may be capable of being configured to support communications using one of a set of carrier bandwidths. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may include a network entity 105 or a UE 115 that supports concurrent communications using carriers associated with multiple carrier bandwidths. In some examples, each served UE 115 may be configured to operate using a portion (e.g., a subband, a BWP) or all of a carrier bandwidth.
[0083] The signal waveform transmitted via the carrier may include multiple subcarriers (e.g., using multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system using MCM technology, a resource element may refer to a resource of one symbol period (e.g., the duration of one modulation symbol) and one subcarrier, in which case the symbol period and the subcarrier spacing may be inversely related. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both), so that a relatively high number of resource elements (e.g., in the transmission duration) and a relatively high order modulation scheme may correspond to a relatively high communication rate. Wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of RF spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers or beams), and the use of multiple spatial resources may increase the data rate or data integrity used for communication with UE 115.
[0084] One or more parameter sets for a carrier may be supported, and a parameter set may include a subcarrier spacing ( ) and cyclic prefix. A carrier may be divided into one or more BWPs with the same or different parameter sets. In some examples, a UE 115 may be configured with multiple BWPs. In some examples, a single BWP for a carrier may be active at a given time, and communications of a UE 115 may be constrained to one or more active BWPs.
[0085] The time interval for the network entity 105 or the UE 115 may be expressed in multiples of a basic time unit, which may be, for example, a sampling period. seconds, of which may indicate the supported subcarrier spacing, and The supported discrete Fourier transform (DFT) size may be indicated. The time intervals of the communication resources may be organized according to radio frames, each having a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) (e.g., ranging from 0 to 1023).
[0086] Each frame may include a plurality of consecutively numbered subframes or time slots, and each subframe or time slot may have the same duration. In some examples, a frame may be divided into subframes (e.g., in the time domain), and each subframe may be further divided into a certain number of time slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of time slots, and the number of time slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each time slot may include a certain number of symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of a cyclic prefix appended in front of each symbol period). In some wireless communication systems 100, a time slot may be further divided into a plurality of mini-time slots associated with one or more symbols. Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may be associated with one or more (e.g., The duration of a symbol period may depend on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band.
[0087] A subframe, slot, mini-slot, or symbol may be the smallest scheduling unit (e.g., in the time domain) of the wireless communication system 100 and may be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In some examples, the TTI duration (e.g., the number of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be dynamically selected (e.g., in a burst of a shortened TTI (sTTI)).
[0088] Carrier multiplexing physical channels may be used for communication according to various techniques. Physical control channels and physical data channels may be multiplexed for signaling via downlink carriers, for example, using one or more of a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) of a physical control channel may be defined by a set of symbol periods and may extend across a system bandwidth of a carrier or a subset of the system bandwidth. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESETs) may be configured for a set of UEs 115. For example, one or more of the UEs 115 may monitor or search the control region for control information according to one or more search space sets, and each search space set may include one or more control channel candidates in one or more aggregation levels arranged in a cascaded manner. The aggregation level of the control channel candidates may refer to the amount of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with coded information for a control information format having a given payload size. The search space sets may include a common search space set configured for transmitting control information to multiple UEs 115 , and a UE-specific search space set for transmitting control information to a specific UE 115 .
[0089] In some examples, the network entities 105 (e.g., base stations 140, RUs 170) may be mobile and thus provide communication coverage for mobile coverage areas 110. In some examples, different coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, but the different coverage areas 110 may be supported by the same network entity 105. In some other examples, overlapping coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by different network entities 105. The wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous network in which different types of network entities 105 provide coverage for various coverage areas 110 using the same or different radio access technologies.
[0090] The wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable communication or low-latency communication or various combinations thereof. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC). The UE 115 may be designed to support ultra-reliable or low-latency or critical functions. Ultra-reliable communications may include private communications or group communications, and may be supported by one or more services such as push-to-talk, video, or data. Support for ultra-reliable, low-latency functions may include prioritization of services, and such services may be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms ultra-reliable, low-latency, and ultra-reliable low-latency may be used interchangeably herein.
[0091] In some examples, a UE 115 may be configured to support communication directly with other UEs 115 via a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., according to a peer-to-peer (P2P), D2D, or sidelink protocol). In some examples, one or more UEs 115 in a group that are performing D2D communication may be within a coverage area 110 of a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140, a RU 170), which may support aspects of such D2D communication configured (e.g., scheduled) by the network entity 105. In some examples, one or more UEs 115 of such a group may be outside of the coverage area 110 of the network entity 105, or may otherwise be unable or not configured to receive transmissions from the network entity 105. In some examples, a group of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication may support a one-to-many (1:M) system, in which each UE 115 transmits to each of the other UEs 115 in the group. In some examples, network entity 105 may facilitate scheduling of resources for D2D communications. In some other examples, D2D communications may be performed between UEs 115 without involving network entity 105.
[0092] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include at least one control plane entity (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management function (AMF)) for managing access and mobility and at least one user plane entity (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function (UPF)) for routing packets or interconnecting to an external network. The control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management of UEs 115 served by network entities 105 (e.g., base stations 140) associated with the core network 130. User IP packets may be delivered through the user plane entity, which may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The user plane entity may be connected to the IP services 150 of one or more network operators. IP services 150 may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched streaming services.
[0093] The wireless communication system 100 may operate using one or more frequency bands that may be in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). Generally speaking, the region from 300 MHz to 3 GHz is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band because the wavelengths range from about one decimeter to one meter in length. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features (which may be referred to as clusters), but these waves may be sufficient to penetrate structures so that macro cells provide services to UEs 115 located indoors. Communications using UHF waves may be associated with smaller antennas and shorter ranges (e.g., less than 100 kilometers) than communications using smaller frequencies and longer waves in the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portions of the spectrum below 300 MHz.
[0094] The wireless communication system 100 can utilize licensed and unlicensed RF spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can use unlicensed bands (such as the 5 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band) to employ Licensed Assisted Access (LAA), LTE Unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology. When operating using unlicensed RF spectrum bands, devices such as network entity 105 and UE 115 can employ carrier sensing for conflict detection and avoidance. In some examples, operations using unlicensed bands can be based on a carrier aggregation configuration combined with component carriers operating using licensed bands (e.g., LAA). Operations using unlicensed spectrum may include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, among others.
[0095] The network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170) or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas that can be used to employ technologies such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication, or beamforming. The antennas of the network entity 105 or UE 115 may be located in one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels, which may support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming. For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located at an antenna assembly, such as an antenna tower. In some examples, antennas or antenna arrays associated with the network entity 105 may be located at different geographical locations. The network entity 105 may include an antenna array having a set of antenna ports of multiple rows and columns that the network entity 105 can use to support beamforming for communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may include one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, the antenna panel may support RF beamforming for signals sent via the antenna ports.
[0096] The network entity 105 or the UE 115 may use MIMO communication to utilize multipath signal propagation and improve spectral efficiency by sending or receiving multiple signals via different spatial layers. Such a technique may be referred to as spatial multiplexing. The multiple signals may be, for example, sent by a transmitting device via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Similarly, the multiple signals may be received by a receiving device via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Each of the multiple signals may be referred to as a separate spatial stream and may carry information associated with the same data stream (e.g., the same codeword) or different data streams (e.g., different codewords). Different spatial layers may be associated with different antenna ports for channel measurement and reporting. MIMO techniques include single-user MIMO (SU-MIMO), for which multiple spatial layers are sent to the same receiving device; and multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO), for which multiple spatial layers are sent to multiple devices.
[0097] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that may be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., a network entity 105, a UE 115) to shape or direct an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals conveyed via antenna elements of an antenna array so that some signals propagating along a particular orientation relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals conveyed via antenna elements may include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals carried via antenna elements associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each of these antenna elements may be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device or relative to some other orientation).
[0098] The network entity 105 or the UE 115 may use beam scanning techniques as part of a beamforming operation. For example, the network entity 105 (e.g., the base station 140, the RU 170) may use multiple antennas or antenna arrays (e.g., antenna panels) to perform beamforming operations for directional communication with the UE 115. Some signals (e.g., synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) may be sent multiple times by the network entity 105 along different directions. For example, the network entity 105 may send signals according to different sets of beamforming weights associated with different transmission directions. Transmissions along different beam directions may be used to identify (e.g., by a transmitting device (such as the network entity 105), or by a receiving device (such as the UE 115)) beam directions for later transmission or reception by the network entity 105.
[0099] Some signals, such as data signals associated with a particular receiving device, may be transmitted by a transmitting device (e.g., transmitting network entity 105, transmitting UE 115) along a single beam direction (e.g., a direction associated with a receiving device (such as receiving network entity 105 or receiving UE 115)). In some examples, a beam direction associated with transmission along a single beam direction may be determined based on signals transmitted along one or more beam directions. For example, UE 115 may receive one or more of the signals sent by network entity 105 along different directions, and may report to network entity 105 an indication of the signal received by UE 115 with the highest signal quality or other acceptable signal quality.
[0100] In some examples, transmission by a device (e.g., by network entity 105 or UE 115) may be performed using multiple beam directions, and the device may use a combination of digital precoding or beamforming to generate a combined beam for transmission (e.g., from network entity 105 to UE 115). UE 115 may report feedback indicating precoding weights for one or more beam directions, and the feedback may correspond to a configured set of beams across a system bandwidth or one or more subbands. Network entity 105 may send a reference signal (e.g., a cell-specific reference signal (CRS), a channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS)), which may be precoded or not precoded. UE 115 may provide feedback for beam selection, which may be a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) or codebook-based feedback (e.g., a multi-panel codebook, a linear combination codebook, a port selection codebook). Although these techniques are described with reference to signals sent along one or more directions by a network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170), UE 115 may use similar techniques to send signals multiple times along different directions (e.g., to identify a beam direction for subsequent transmission or reception by UE 115), or to send signals along a single direction (e.g., to send data to a receiving device).
[0101] A receiving device (e.g., UE 115) may perform receiving operations according to multiple receiving configurations (e.g., directional listening) when receiving various signals (such as synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) from a receiving device (e.g., network entity 105). For example, the receiving device may perform reception according to multiple receiving directions by receiving via different antenna subarrays, processing received signals according to different antenna subarrays, receiving according to different receiving beamforming weight sets (e.g., different directional listening weight sets) applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array, or processing received signals according to different receiving beamforming weight sets applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array, any of which may be referred to as "listening" according to different receiving configurations or receiving directions. In some examples, the receiving device may use a single receiving configuration to receive along a single beam direction (e.g., when receiving a data signal). A single receive configuration may be aligned along a beam direction determined based on listening according to different receive configuration directions (e.g., a beam direction determined to have the highest signal strength, highest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), or other acceptable signal quality based on listening according to multiple beam directions).
[0102] The wireless communication system 100 may be a packet-based network that operates according to a layered protocol stack. In the user plane, communications at the bearer or PDCP layer may be IP-based. The RLC layer may perform packet segmentation and reassembly to communicate via logical channels. The MAC layer may perform priority processing and multiplexing of logical channels into transport channels. The MAC layer may also implement error detection techniques, error correction techniques, or both to support retransmission to improve link efficiency. In the control plane, the RRC layer may provide the establishment, configuration, and maintenance of an RRC connection that supports a radio bearer for user plane data between the UE 115 and the network entity 105 or the core network 130. The PHY layer may map a transport channel to a physical channel.
[0103] UE 115 and network entity 105 may support retransmission of data to increase the likelihood that the data is successfully received. Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback is a technique for increasing the likelihood of correctly receiving data via a communication link (e.g., communication link 125, D2D communication link 135). HARQ may include a combination of error detection (e.g., using a cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), forward error correction (FEC), and retransmission (e.g., automatic repeat request (ARQ)). HARQ may improve throughput at the MAC layer under poor radio conditions (e.g., low signal-to-noise ratio conditions). In some examples, a device may support same-slot HARQ feedback, in which case the device may provide HARQ feedback in a specific time slot for data received via a previous symbol in the time slot. In some other examples, the device may provide HARQ feedback in a subsequent time slot or based on some other time interval.
[0104] In some implementations, the UE 115, network entity 105, and other wireless devices of the wireless communication system 100 may support configuration, rules, and signaling that restricts TRP selection for mTRP CJT transmission to a limited set of TRPs based on the number of spatial multiplexing layers supported. In other words, aspects of the present disclosure enable TRPs to be grouped into corresponding TRP sets supporting different numbers of spatial multiplexing layers, where the grouping of TRPs for CJT can be determined by the network or by the UE.
[0105] In the context of a UE-selected TRP set, a UE 115 of the wireless communication system 100 may perform measurements on reference signals received from respective TRPs of the network entity 105. Based on the measurements, the UE 115 may report a mapping between a set of TRPs and a corresponding set of spatial multiplexing layers supported by the set of TRPs (e.g., reporting the set of TRPs and the corresponding ranks). Subsequently, the UE 115 may receive a CJT from one of the corresponding TRP sets of the network entity 105 according to the reported layer-to-TRP mapping. In comparison, in the context of a network-selected TRP set, the network entity 105 may indicate to the UE 115 a mapping between a set of TRPs, a TCI state, and a DMRS group (e.g., a code division multiplexing (CDM) group), so that the UE 115 may monitor the CJT sent by the corresponding TRP set of the network entity 105 according to the mapping.
[0106] The techniques described herein may enable TRPs to be grouped into sets that support the same number of spatial multiplexing layers, thereby facilitating more efficient and widespread use of mTRP CJT, which may improve coverage and average throughput within the wireless communication system 100. In addition, by grouping TRPs based on the number of spatial multiplexing layers supported (e.g., by grouping TRPs based on rank), CSI reporting at the UE 115 in response to the mTRP CJT may be simplified. Specifically, grouping TRPs by rank may reduce CSI processing complexity at the UE 115 and reduce the size of CSI reports, thereby reducing control signaling overhead and enabling more efficient use of communication resources.
[0107] Figure 2 An example of a wireless communication system 200 that supports techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, aspects of the wireless communication system 200 may implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100, or may be implemented by these aspects. Specifically, the wireless communication system 200 may support techniques for implementing mTRP CJT, such as with respect to Figure 1 as described.
[0108] The wireless communication system 200 may include a network entity 105-a and a UE 115-a. The UE 115-a may communicate with the network entity 105-a using a communication link 205, which may be an example of an NR or LTE link between the respective UE 115-a and the network entity 105-a. In some cases, the communication link 205 may include an example of an access link (e.g., a Uu link), which may include a bidirectional link that implements both uplink and downlink communications. For example, the UE 115-a may use the communication link 205 to send an uplink signal, such as an uplink control signal or an uplink data signal, to one or more components of the network entity 105-a, and one or more components of the network entity 105-a may use the communication link 205 to send a downlink signal, such as a downlink control signal or a downlink data signal, to the UE 115-a.
[0109] In some aspects, the network entity 105-a may include or be associated with multiple TRPs. Figure 2 As shown, the network entity 105-a may include a first TRP 210-a and a second TRP 210-b. Each respective TRP 210 may be configured to perform wireless communications independently of each other and / or in conjunction with each other.
[0110] For example, as previously described herein, some wireless communication systems may support CJT across multiple TRPs 210 (mTRPs). For example, a first TRP 210-a and a second TRP 210-b may each transmit the same message (e.g., the same payload or signal) such that the respective messages / signals transmitted by the respective TRPs 210 exhibit phase coherence (e.g., the same phase) with each other. CJT across mTRPs 210 may improve coverage and average throughput through high performance backhaul and synchronization within the wireless communication system 200.
[0111] In the context of Type II codebook refinement for mTRP CJT, the UE 115-a and / or the network entity 105-a may perform spatial domain and / or frequency domain based selection. The spatial domain / frequency domain based selection may be performed to determine whether to perform mTRP210 CJT per TRP / TRP group (e.g., individually) or across all TRPs 210 / TRP groups of the network entity 105-a (e.g., jointly). The co-phase / co-amplitude between TRPs 210 may also be determined for separate spatial domain and frequency domain based selections. In some cases, the UE 115-a may report the number of non-zero coefficients (e.g., a bitmap indicating non-zero coefficients) for different TRPs 210 jointly or individually. One strongest coefficient indicator (SCI) may be indicated per TRP 210 / TRP group, or one strongest coefficient indicator (SCI) may be indicated jointly for all TRPs 210.
[0112] For example, Figure 2 An example eType-II CSI reporting configuration is illustrated, where spatial and frequency domain compression is performed via a linear combination of a Direct Fourier Transform (DFT) basis. Figure 2 , UE 115-a may perform channel estimation on signals received from each of TRPs 210. For example, UE 115-a may estimate a first channel 215-a ( ) between UE 115-a and a first TRP 210-a. ) and a second channel 215-b between UE 115-a and a second TRP 210-b ( ). For Type-II CSI reports for CJT, cross Precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for subbands The pre-decoder of (e.g., spatial multiplexing layer) can be represented by the following formula 1 A matrix of size is given by:
[0113] (1)
[0114] in represents the space domain basis (DFT basis), represents the frequency domain basis (DFT basis), and In this regard, the corresponding channel 215 can be represented by The matrix representation of is the number of transmit antenna ports per TRP.
[0115] To determine the precoder 230 to be used (e.g., by the corresponding TRP 210) for the corresponding channel 215 for mTRP CJT, the UE 115-a may perform spatial domain compression on the corresponding channels 215-a, 215-b to determine the corresponding sets of spatial domain coefficients 220-a, 220-b. In some cases, the UE 115-a may use the compression matrices and to perform spatial domain compression on the corresponding channel 215. The first set of spatial domain coefficients 220-a associated with the first TRP 210-a may be represented by , and the second set of spatial domain coefficients 220-b associated with the second TRP 210-b may be represented by express.
[0116] Additionally, the UE 115-a may perform frequency domain compression to determine a corresponding set of spatial domain (SD) / frequency domain (FD) coefficients 225-a, 225-b. In some cases, the UE 115-a may use the compression matrices and To perform spatial / frequency domain compression. The first set of spatial / frequency domain coefficients 225-a associated with the first TRP 210-a may be composed of , and the second set of spatial / frequency domain coefficients 225-b associated with the second TRP 210-b may be represented by In some aspects, the corresponding spatial / frequency domain coefficients 225 - a and 225 - b may exhibit a common amplitude / phase.
[0117] Subsequently, the UE 115-a may perform joint coefficient compression on the corresponding spatial / frequency domain coefficients 225 to determine a set of precoders 230 for the corresponding TRP 210 to be reported back to the network entity 105-a. Specifically, when performing joint coefficient compression, the UE 115-a may select strong coefficients and set weak coefficients to zero in order to determine the precoders 230, which may be represented by the following Formula 2:
[0118] (2)
[0119] Space Domain Basis can be layer-common, where UE 115-a selects beams (of which is configured by RRC). In comparison, the frequency domain May be layer specific, where UE 115-a receives Select from the base For each layer, UE 115-a may report up to coefficients (e.g. ),in May be RRC configurable. Across all layers, UE 115-a may report up to non-zero coefficients, where the unreported coefficients are set to zero. In addition, UE 115-a may be configured to report coefficient selections (e.g., NZC in positions within the layer) and quantification of the NZC of each layer.
[0120] In some wireless communication systems, when performing TRP 210 selection for mTRP CJT for Type-II codebook refinement, the wireless device may be configured to down-select from various TRP 210 selection or determination implementations (where is the number of cooperating TRPs 210 in the precoding matrix indicator (PMI) report). According to a first specific implementation of TRP 210 selection for mTRP CJT, the number of TRPs 210 It may be configured by the network via higher layer signaling, such as RRC signaling. In this implementation, UE 115-a may be configured to report a single transmission hypothesis.
[0121] According to a second specific implementation of TRP 210 selection for mTRP CJT, the number of TRP 210 Can be selected by UE115-a and used as a Part of the CSI report is to report is the number of cooperating TRPs 210, and where is the maximum number of cooperating TRPs 210 configured by the network (e.g., configured by network entity 105-a). In this case, the number of slave TRPs 210 Select According to a second implementation of TRP 210 selection for mTRP CJT, UE 115-a may be configured to report the corresponding In this specific implementation, the configured CSI associated with a transmission hypothesis A TRP 210 may be configured by the network via higher layer signaling (eg, RRC signaling).
[0122] However, there are several deficiencies associated with current TRP 210 selection techniques for mTRP CJT. For example, current TRP 210 selection techniques for mTRP CJT do not preclude layer-specific TRP 210 selection for mTRP CJT. In this regard, the channel ranks associated with each TRP 210 may differ from one another. In other words, CJT may be performed across a first TRP 210-a and a second TRP 210-b despite the TRPs 210 being associated with (e.g., supporting) different numbers of spatial multiplexing layers (e.g., despite the TRPs 210 being associated with different ranks).
[0123] To address layer-specific TRP 210 selection for mTRP CJT, some wireless communication systems may enable some layers (e.g., spatial multiplexing layers) to be transmitted from all TRPs 210, while other layers may be transmitted from a subset of TRPs 210. In other words, some wireless communication systems may implement hybrid CJT and non-CJT transmissions. For example, based on a hybrid scheme, TRP 210-a {A,B} may perform CJT for layers 1 and 2, and TRP 210-b {C, D} may perform CJT for layers 3 and 4, where non-CJT is applied across the corresponding two layer sets (e.g., non-CJT between {A, B} and {C, D}).
[0124] However, unrestricted layer-specific TRP 210 selection may significantly increase the CSI computation complexity and feedback overhead at UE 115-a. For example, assuming four TRPs 210 and rank 4, the number of transmitted hypotheses may be Because the collaborative TRP for each layer can be different, ranging from one TRP to up to four TRPs. In other words, in this example, UE 115-a can be expected to report 256 different transmission hypotheses. Therefore, reporting TRP-specific ranks and mapping from TRP 210 to layers may result in significant signaling overhead.
[0125] Additionally, unrestricted layer-specific TRP 210 selection may affect TCI state configuration and indication in DCI signaling. Specifically, in some wireless communication systems, the TCI field in the DCI message may point to one or two TCI states, each TCI state providing a quasi-co-sited (QCL) reference downlink reference signal (DL-RS) of the TCI state for an associated PDSCH demodulation reference signal (DMRS) port. Therefore, layer-specific TRP 210 selection may require a layer-specific mapping of TCI states to DMRS ports. Assuming there are N TRPs 210 and L layers, the mapping indication may require a total of N*L bits, with N bits for each layer, where a bit value of "1" indicates that the corresponding TCI state (or TRP 210) is associated with the corresponding layer.
[0126] Accordingly, aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for limiting TRP selection for mTRP CJT in order to balance the conflicting demands of performance and UE 115 complexity. In other words, aspects of the present disclosure may enable a UE 115-a and / or a network entity 105-a to select a set of TRPs 210 based on the rank / number of supported spatial multiplexing layers (e.g., a first set of TRPs 210 supports rank X and a second set of TRPs 210 supports rank Y). According to some aspects of the present disclosure, cross-layer joint TRP set selection is considered, where the number of TRP set selections across layers is no greater than 2 (e.g., there are at most two sets for each corresponding TRP set). In some aspects, the number of TRPs 210 within each set may depend on the rank (e.g., for a rank indicator (RI) ≤2, there is a single TRP set; and for RI>2, there are at most two sets of TRPs 210.
[0127] According to some aspects of the present disclosure, two separate sets of TRPs 210 may be configured by the network via higher layer signaling (e.g., RRC signaling), or selected and reported by UE 115-a as part of a CSI report. In other words, various aspects of the present disclosure relate to a variety of different methods for selecting a set of TRPs 210 for mTRP CJT, including (1) a gNB-based method, and (2) a UE-based method.
[0128] For the gNB-based approach, the TRP sets may be configured via two channel measurement resources (CMRs) within the same CSI-RS resource set or via two separate CSI-RS resource set configurations. In such cases, the UE 115-a may be expected to report the TRP set selection for each layer (e.g., indicating a mapping of the TRP sets to the corresponding layers).
[0129] For a UE-based method for selecting a set of TRPs 210 for mTRP CJT, The collaborative TRP 210 may be provided by the network entity 105-a via CSI-RS resources are configured, and for each of the two sets of TRPs 210, The selection of a TRP 210 among the TRPs 210 may be reported by the UE 115-a. Additionally, it may be expected that the UE 115-a reports the TRP set selection for each layer (e.g., a mapping of the TRP sets to the corresponding layers). For both approaches, the two sets of TRPs 210 for CJT may be configured to be fully overlapping, non-overlapping, or partially overlapping (e.g., the corresponding sets of TRPs 210 may have different TRPs 210, or TRPs 210 may be included in both sets). Different overlapping configurations across sets of TRPs 210 may affect the feedback design, as will be described in further detail herein.
[0130] Each of the corresponding methods (e.g., a UE-based method and a gNB-based method) for selecting a set of TRPs 210 for mTRP CJT will be further described in detail herein.
[0131] In the context of a UE-based approach, a UE 115-a may receive control signaling 235 (e.g., RRC signaling) indicating a set of TRPs 210 (e.g., TRPs 210-a, 210-b, additional TRPs 210) and a set of measurement resources. In other words, the set of TRPs 210 may be gNB-configured. In this example, the UE 115-a may receive a reference signal 240 sent by a corresponding TRP 210 of the network entity 105-a within the set of measurement resources, and may report a mapping of the set of TRPs to layers via a bitmap having a length equal to the reported rank (e.g., via a CSI report 245 or other control signaling). In other words, the UE 115-a may perform measurements on the received reference signal 240, determine the rank associated with each corresponding TRP 210, and may report a mapping between a set of TRPs 210 and a set of spatial multiplexing layers (e.g., {TRP set 1, rank 1}, {TRP set 2, rank 2}). In this example, bit "0" indicates that TRP set 0 is associated with the corresponding layer, and bit "1" indicates TRP set 1. In some cases, a bitmap with all 0s (or 1s) is possible (eg, a common TRP set for all layers).
[0132] Continuing with the example of describing UE-selected TRP 210 sets, UE 115-a may be configured to implement two-level reporting (e.g., two-level CSI reporting). In a first level (e.g., a first CSI part or CSI part 1), UE 115-a may report a joint indication of the number of TRPs 210 in each set based on a predefined lookup table, and report the RI for the two respective TRP sets. In other words, in the first level, UE 115-a may indicate that a first TRP set includes X TRPs 210 associated with a first RI, and a second TRP set includes Y TRPs 210 associated with a second RI. In some cases, the predefined lookup table may depend on the type of TRP set, and may be used. As input (for example, the lookup table can be citation), where is the number of cooperative TRPs 210 configured by the network. Two RIs for two corresponding TRP sets may be reported by a joint RI index corresponding to one of four rank combinations (eg, {1,1}, {1,2}, {2,1}, {2,2}).
[0133] In the second level of the two-level CSI reporting (e.g., the second CSI part or CSI part 2), the UE 115-a may indicate the TRP selection in each TRP set and the mapping to the layers. In other words, the UE 115-a may indicate which TRPs 210 are included in each respective TRP set in the respective TRP sets. Additionally, the UE 115-a may indicate the mapping of supported spatial multiplexing layers to the respective TRPs 210. For completely overlapping or non-overlapping TRP sets (e.g., TRP sets having the same TRP 210, or TRP sets that do not include any TRP 210 included in both sets), a single indication (e.g., a bitmap or a combined index) may be used to indicate the TRP 210 in the TRP set having the smaller size. In comparison, for partially overlapping TRP sets (e.g., a TRP set including at least one common TRP 210 included in two TRP sets), a first indication may be used to indicate the common TRP 210 within the two sets, and a second indication may be used to indicate a non-overlapping TRP 210 in a TRP set having a smaller size.
[0134] For further reference Figure 3 and Figure 5 A UE-based method is shown and described in which a UE 115-a selects and indicates a TRP 210 included in a corresponding set of TRPs 210 for mTRP CJT.
[0135] Figure 3An example of a CJT reporting configuration 300 that supports techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, aspects of the CJT reporting configuration 300 may implement or be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100, the wireless communication system 200, or both. Specifically, the CJT reporting configuration 300 illustrates a UE-based method for selecting and indicating TRPs included in a corresponding TRP set for mTRP CJT, such as with respect to Figure 1 – Figure 2 as described.
[0136] like Figure 3 As shown, the network may configure a candidate TRP set 305 including a plurality of TRPs 310. In this example, the candidate TRP set 305 may include a first TRP 310-a, a second TRP 310-b, a third TRP 310-c, and a fourth TRP 310-d. The respective TRPs 310 may be supported by (e.g., associated with) the same network entity 105 or a plurality of network entities 105.
[0137] As previously described herein, the UE 115 may receive reference signals sent by respective TRPs 310 and may perform measurements on the received reference signals. While performing the measurements, the UE 115 may determine the number (or set) of spatial multiplexing layers supported by each respective TRP 310. In other words, the UE 115 may determine the rank associated with each respective TRP 310 and may group the candidate TRP set 305 into two separate TRP sets 320 based on the rank / supported spatial multiplexing layers of each respective TRP 310.
[0138] In some aspects, the UE 115 may then perform a two-level CSI reporting procedure (e.g., a two-level CSI reporting configuration) to indicate the mapping between the TRPs 310, TRP sets 320, and supported spatial multiplexing layers (e.g., rank). In a first level 315 of the two-level CSI reporting procedure / configuration, the UE 115 may report a joint indication of the number of TRPs 310 in each TRP set 320, and report the RI for the two corresponding TRP sets 320. For example, Figure 3 As shown, UE 115 may indicate a first number of TRPs 310 ( ) and the first RI associated with the first TRP set 320-a ( Similarly, UE 115 may indicate a second number of TRPs 310 ( ) and a second RI associated with the second TRP set 320-b ( ).
[0139] In the second stage 325 of the two-stage CSI reporting process / configuration, the UE 115 may indicate (such as via a bitmap or combined index) the TRP selection and mapping to layers in each TRP set 320. In other words, the UE 115 may indicate which TRPs 310 are included in each respective TRP set in the respective TRP sets 320. For example, Figure 3 As shown, UE 115 may indicate that the first TRP 310-a and the second TRP 310-b are included in the first TRP set 320-a, and may indicate that the third TRP 310-c and the fourth TRP 310-d are included in the second TRP set 320-b.
[0140] For less than or equal to 4 , an example of a joint indication of the number of TRPs 310 in each TRP set 320 for UE-based TRP set 320 selection is shown in Table 1 below. However, it should be noted herein that the joint indication of the number of TRPs 310 in each TRP set 320 can be extended to other value.
[0141]
[0142] The example joint indication of the number of TRPs 310 in each TRP set 320 shown in Table 1 above is for a number less than or equal to 4. However, it is noted in this document that the joint indication TRP 310 in each TRP set 320 can be extended to other For the partial overlap case, the number of shared TRPs 310 in two TRP sets 320 can be calculated by explicitly stated or implicitly derived, where and The sizes of the first TRP set 320-a and the second TRP set 320-b are defined respectively.
[0143] As previously described herein, reporting for the second level 325 (and the complexity of the reporting) may depend on whether the TRP sets 320 are fully overlapping, non-overlapping, or partially overlapping. The terms "fully overlapping," "non-overlapping," and "partially overlapping" may be used to refer to the number of "common" TRPs 310 shared across TRP sets 320. Fully overlapping TRP sets 320 may occur when all TRPs 310 in one TRP set 320 are included in another TRP set 320 (e.g., one TRP set 320 includes all of the collaborative TRPs 310 configured by the network entity 105-a, and the other TRP set 320 includes only a subset of the collaborative TRPs 310). For example, TRP set 1 having TRPs 310 {1, 2, 3, 4} and TRP set 2 having TRPs 310 {1, 2} would include "fully overlapping" TRP sets 320. Non-overlapping TRP sets 320 do not include any common TRPs 310 (eg, no TRPs 310 are included in both TRP sets 320). Partially overlapping TRP sets 320 include one or more common TRPs 310 shared across two TRP sets 320, and one or more TRPs 310 not shared across two TRP sets 320.
[0144] In the context of fully overlapping TRP Sets 320, at least one of the TRP Sets 320 will include all TRPs 310 may be present in the first level 325, and the indication in the second level 325 may only indicate the TRP set 320 having the smaller number of TRPs 310. In addition, for completely overlapping and non-overlapping TRP sets 320, where the UE 115-a indicates the TRPs 310 within each TRP set 320 via a bitmap, the length of the bitmap may be (exist Figure 3 middle =4), where the bitmap value indicates whether the corresponding TRP 310 belongs to a TRP set 320 having a smaller number of TRPs 310 (e.g., for non-overlapping TRP sets 320, the bitmap [1 1 0 0] indicates that the first TRP 310-a and the second TRP 310-b belong to the first TRP set 320-a). In comparison, in the case where the combined index is used for completely overlapping and non-overlapping TRP sets 320, the size of the combined index indicator can be ,in is the size of the smaller sized TRP set 320 reported in the first level 315 for CSI reporting.
[0145] In the context of partially overlapping TRP sets 320, if the UE 115 uses a bitmap to indicate the TRP 310 within each TRP set 320, the length of the first indicator may be , and the size of the second indicator may be equal to the number of non-overlapping TRPs 310 in the two TRP sets 320. In comparison, if a combined index is used to indicate a TRP 310 in each TRP set 320, the first indicator and the second indicator may be jointly encoded, and the size thereof is ,in is the size of the smaller number of TRP sets 320 reported in the first stage 315 for CSI reporting, and is the number of overlapping TRPs 310 (eg, shared TRPs 310) in two TRP sets 320. In some cases, a bitmap may result in more efficient reporting for fully overlapping / non-overlapping cases, where a combined index may save overhead and thus result in more efficient reporting for partially overlapping cases.
[0146] Will refer to it again Figure 2 The wireless communication system 200 illustrated in FIG.
[0147] In an additional or alternative implementation, the wireless communication system 200 may implement a gNB-based method for selecting a set of TRPs 210 for an mTRP CJT. In such a case, the network entity 105-a may utilize TCI state configuration and indication for a CJT with two TRP sets.
[0148] For example, in the context of gNB-based TRP 210 selection for mTRP CJT, the network entity 105-a may configure, via control signaling 235 (e.g., higher layer signaling, such as RRC signaling), a mapping of a single TCI code point to a set of multiple TCI states (e.g., up to four). In this example, each TCI state may represent a TRP 210. Thus, the UE 115-a may be configured to derive the number of collaborative TRPs 210 (e.g., up to four) for mTRP CJT based on a TCI field indication in the control signaling 235 or other control signaling (e.g., DCI). ).
[0149] Continuing to describe the same example, the network entity 105-a may include additional indicators to the DCI to indicate how the indicated TCI states are grouped into two sets (corresponding to the sets of TRPs 210) and the size of the sets of TRPs 210. That is, the network entity 105-a may indicate a mapping between sets of TRPs 210 and corresponding TCI states, as well as the number of TRPs 210 included in each set. In addition, as previously described herein with respect to indicating TRP set selection via CSI reports 245, similar techniques may be used to indicate fully overlapping, non-overlapping, and partially overlapping TRP sets (e.g., using a bitmap for fully overlapping or non-overlapping TRP sets and a combined index for partially overlapping TRP sets).
[0150] In some aspects, the size of the TCI status group indicator may be based on The maximum value of (for example, 4), where if <4, zero padding is used. That is, the TCI state grouping indicator may include four bits for the fully overlapping / non-overlapping case and five bits for the partially overlapping case. Finally, since the DMRS ports of the two TRP sets belong to two different CDM groups, one more bit may be included in the DCI / control signaling 235 to indicate the association of the CDM group with the two TRP sets or the two TCI state groups (e.g., an additional bit indicates whether CDM group 0 is associated with TRP set 0 or TRP set 1).
[0151] For further reference Figure 4 and Figure 6 A gNB-based method is shown and described in which a network entity 105-a selects and indicates a TRP 210 to be included in a corresponding set of TRPs 210 for mTRP CJT.
[0152] Figure 4 An example of TCI state configuration and indication 400 that supports techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, aspects of the CJT TCI state configuration and indication 400 may implement or be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100, the wireless communication system 200, or both. Specifically, the CJT TCI state configuration and indication 400 illustrates a gNB-based method for selecting and indicating TRPs included in a corresponding TRP set for mTRP CJT, such as with respect to Figure 1 – Figure 2 as described.
[0153] like Figure 4As shown, UE 115 may receive DCI 405 (and / or other control signaling) from network entity 105, the DCI indicating information associated with CJT transmission between UE 115 and the network. DCI 405 may include a TCI state indication associated with a set of TCI states 410. For example, DCI 405 may indicate a set of TCI states 410 including a first TCI state 415-a, a second TCI state 415-b, a third TCI state 415-c, and a fourth TCI state 415-d. In this regard, Figure 4 The DCI 405 in may indicate four separate TCI states 415 for CJT across four TRPs. In some cases, the indicated TCI states 415 may be associated with a scheduled downlink message (e.g., a PDSCH message) between the network entity 105 and the UE 115.
[0154] In some cases, the network entity 105 may configure, via DCI 405 or other control signaling (e.g., RRC), a mapping of a single TCI code point to a set of multiple TCI states 415 (e.g., up to four). In this example, each TCI state 415 may represent a TRP. For example, a first TCI state 415-a may be associated with a first TRP (e.g., representing a first TRP), a second TCI state 415-b may be associated with a second TRP, and so on. Thus, the UE 115 may be configured to derive the number of collaborative TRPs for mTRP CJT based on the TCI field indication in the DCI 405 (e.g., ).
[0155] In some cases, the DCI 405 (or other control signaling) may include additional indicators (e.g., a bitmap, a combination index, or both) that indicate how to divide the set of TCI states 410 into two different TCI state groups 420-a, 420-b. For example, the DCI 405 may indicate a mapping between TCI states 415 and corresponding TCI state groups 420. For example, Figure 2 As shown, the DCI 405 may include a bitmap [0, 0, 1, 1] (for the non-overlapping case) indicating that the first TCI state 415-a and the second TCI state 415-b are associated with the first TCI group 420-a and the third TCI state 415-c and the fourth TCI state 415-d are associated with the second TCI group 420-b.
[0156] As previously described herein, how the TCI state 415 is mapped to the TCI state group 420 may be based on whether the TCI state group 420 is fully overlapping, non-overlapping, or partially overlapping. For example, the indication of the mapping may use a single indicator (four bits) for the fully overlapping case and the non-overlapping case, and may use two indicators (five bits) for the partially overlapping case. Table 2 below further illustrates and describes the mapping for different types of TRP sets (e.g., fully overlapping, non-overlapping, and partially overlapping):
[0157]
[0158] In some aspects, the DCI 405 may indicate a mapping between a set of DMRS ports 425 and a CDM group, and / or a mapping between a DMRS port and an associated spatial multiplexing layer. For example, the DCI 405 may indicate a first mapping or association between a first set of DMRS ports 425-a and a first set of spatial multiplexing layers, and a second mapping / association between a second set of DMRS ports 425-b and a second set of spatial multiplexing layers. Additionally or alternatively, the DCI 405 may indicate an association between a set of DMRS ports 425 and a corresponding CDM group (e.g., DMRS ports {0, 2, 3} for RI=3 indicate port 0 in CDM group 0 and ports {2, 3} in CDM group 1).
[0159] Additionally, the DCI 405 may indicate a fourth indicator that maps the TCI state groups 420-a, 420-b to corresponding sets (or layers) of DMRS ports 425. That is, the DCI 405 may indicate a first mapping or association between the first TCI state group 420-a and the first set of DMRS ports 425-a (or the first set of associated spatial multiplexing layers), and a second mapping or association between the second TCI state group 420-b and the second set of DMRS ports 425-b (or the second set of associated spatial multiplexing layers). Additionally or alternatively, the DCI 405 may indicate a mapping (1 bit) of CDM groups to TRP sets or TCI state groups 420. For example, the DCI 405 may indicate that CDM group 0 is associated with the first TCI state group 420-a, and CDM group 1 is associated with the second TCI state group 420-b.
[0160] After receiving various indications via DCI 405 (and / or other control signaling), UE 115 may receive CJT according to various mappings. For example, UE 115 may receive CJT via first TCI state group 420-a (e.g., via TRP associated with first TCI state group 420-a) according to various mappings between first TCI state group 420-a and DMRS port 425-a, CDM group 0, supported spatial multiplexing layers, etc. Similarly, as another example, UE 115 may receive CJT via second TCI state group 420-b (e.g., via TRP associated with second TCI state group 420-b) according to various mappings between second TCI state group 420-b and DMRS port 425-b, CDM group 1, supported spatial multiplexing layers, etc.
[0161] Figure 5 An example of a process flow 500 for supporting techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, aspects of the process flow 500 may implement or be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100, the wireless communication system 200, the CJT reporting configuration 300, the CJT reporting configuration 400, or any combination thereof. Specifically, the process flow 400 illustrates signaling of a UE-based method for selecting and indicating TRPs included in a corresponding TRP set for mTRP CJT, such as with respect to Figure 1 – Figure 3 as described.
[0162] Process flow 500 may include UE 115-b and network entity 105-b, which may be reference Figure 1 – Figure 4 Examples of UE 115, network entity 105, and other wireless devices are described. For example, Figure 5 The UE 115-b and the network entity 105-b illustrated in the example may be respectively as follows Figure 2 An example of a UE 115-a and a network entity 105-a is shown and described. In this regard, the network entity 105-b may be associated with (eg, support) multiple TRPs.
[0163] In some examples, the operations illustrated in process flow 500 may be performed by hardware (e.g., including circuits, processing blocks, logic components, and other components), code (e.g., software) executed by a processor, or any combination thereof. The following alternative examples may be implemented in which some of the steps are performed in a different order than described or not performed at all. In some cases, the steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or other steps may be added.
[0164] At 505, the UE 115-b may receive control signaling (e.g., RRC, DCI) from the network entity 105-b, wherein the control signaling indicates a set of multiple TRPs supported by the network entity 105-b and / or other network entities 105. In this regard, the control signaling may indicate candidate TRPs that may be used for CJT. In some aspects, the control signaling may additionally indicate a set of measurement resources to be used by the UE 115-b for CSI reporting.
[0165] At 510, the UE 115-b may receive a reference signal within the measurement resource set configured via the control signaling at 505. Specifically, the UE 115-b may receive reference signals from a plurality of TRPs indicated via the control signaling. In this regard, the UE 115-b may receive the reference signal at 510 based on receiving the control signaling at 505.
[0166] At 515, UE 115-b may perform measurements on the reference signal received from the corresponding TRP within the measurement resource set. For example, UE 115-a may perform measurements to perform channel estimation on a channel between UE 115-b and the corresponding TRP. In this regard, UE 115-b may perform measurements at 515 based on receiving control signaling at 505, receiving the reference signal at 510, or both.
[0167] At 520, UE 115-b may determine or identify a rank (e.g., RI) and / or spatial multiplexing layer associated with a respective TRP. UE 115-a may determine the RI and / or spatial multiplexing layer associated with a respective TRP based on the measurements performed at 515. In some aspects, UE 115-b may group the plurality of TRPs into a set of TRPs based on the identified RI and / or spatial multiplexing layer. For example, Figure 3 As shown, UE 115-b may group TRPs into a first TRP set 320-a associated with a first RI (or a first set of spatial multiplexing layers) and a second TRP set 320-b associated with a second RI (or a second set of spatial multiplexing layers).
[0168] At 525, UE 115-b may send a CSI report including a first CSI portion and a second CSI portion. In some aspects, at least one of the first CSI portion or the second CSI portion indicates a first mapping between a first set of TRPs and a first set of spatial multiplexing layers and a second mapping between a second set of TRPs and a second set of spatial multiplexing layers. In this regard, the CSI report may indicate the identified RI / spatial multiplexing layer and the corresponding TRP set identified at 520. Thus, UE 115-b may send a CSI report at 525 based on receiving control signaling at 505, receiving a reference signal at 510, performing measurements at 515, identifying the RI, spatial multiplexing layer and / or TRP set at 520, or any combination thereof.
[0169] In some aspects, respective portions of a CSI report may be used to convey different information. For example, in some cases, a first CSI portion may include a joint indication of the number of TRPs within each of a first set of TRPs and a second set of TRPs, and a corresponding joint RI associated with each of the first set of TRPs and the second set of TRPs. In other words, Figure 3 As shown, the first CSI portion (e.g., the first level 315) may indicate the number of TRPs 310 within the first TRP set 320-a, the second TRP set 320-b, or both, and the corresponding RIs associated with the respective TRP sets 320. For example, the joint RI may include a first RI associated with the first set of TRPs and a second RI associated with the second set of TRPs.
[0170] As another example, the second CSI part may include an indication of TRPs included in the first set of TRPs, the second set of TRPs, or both. In other words, the second CSI part may indicate a mapping between TRP sets and corresponding TRPs (e.g., indicating which TRPs are included in which TRP sets). Figure 3 As shown, the second CSI portion (eg, second stage 325) may indicate a mapping between each TRP 310 and a corresponding TRP set 320. In some cases, the indication of which TRPs are included in the respective TRP set may include a bitmap, a combined index, or both.
[0171] As previously described herein, reporting for the second CSI portion (and the complexity of the reporting) may depend on whether the TRP sets are fully overlapping, non-overlapping, or partially overlapping. For example, in the case of non-overlapping TRP sets, the second CSI portion may include a bitmap, a combined index, or both that indicates TRPs included in the smaller of the first set and the second set of TRPs. As another example, in the case of partially overlapping TRP sets, the second CSI portion may indicate at least one TRP shared across the first set of TRPs and the second set of TRPs, and an indication of at least one additional TRP included in the smaller of the first set and the second set of TRPs and not shared across the first set and the second set of TRPs.
[0172] At 530, UE 115-b may receive a phase-coherent joint transmission (e.g., CJT) of a downlink message (e.g., a PDSCH message) from at least one set of TRPs in the set of TRPs (e.g., mTRP CJT). For example, UE 115-b may receive CJT of downlink messages from a first set of TRPs based on a first mapping between the first set of TRPs and the first set of spatial multiplexing layers. As another example, UE 115-b may receive CJT of downlink messages from a second set of TRPs based on a second mapping between the second set of TRPs and the second set of spatial multiplexing layers. Thus, UE 115-b may receive CJT at 530 based on receiving control signaling at 505, receiving a reference signal at 510, performing measurements at 515, identifying RI, spatial multiplexing layers and / or TRP sets at 520, sending a CSI report at 525, or any combination thereof.
[0173] Figure 6 An example of a process flow 600 for supporting techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, aspects of the process flow 600 may implement or be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100, the wireless communication system 200, the CJT reporting configuration 300, the CJT reporting configuration 400, or any combination thereof. Specifically, the process flow 500 illustrates signaling of a gNB-based method for selecting and indicating TRPs included in a corresponding TRP set for mTRP CJT, such as with respect to Figure 1 , Figure 2 and Figure 4 as described.
[0174] Process flow 600 may include UE 115-c and network entity 105-c, which may be reference Figure 1 – Figure 5Examples of UE 115, network entity 105, and other wireless devices are described. For example, Figure 5 The UE 115-c and the network entity 105-c illustrated in the example may be respectively as follows Figure 2 An example of a UE 115-a and a network entity 105-a is shown and described. In this regard, the network entity 105-c may be associated with (eg, support) multiple TRPs.
[0175] In some examples, the operations illustrated in process flow 600 may be performed by hardware (e.g., including circuits, processing blocks, logic components, and other components), code (e.g., software) executed by a processor, or any combination thereof. The following alternative examples may be implemented in which some of the steps are performed in a different order than described or not performed at all. In some cases, the steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or other steps may be added.
[0176] At 605, the UE 115-c may receive control signaling (e.g., RRC, DCI) from the network entity 105-c, wherein the control signaling indicates a plurality of TCI states corresponding to a plurality of TRPs associated with (e.g., supported by) the network entity 105-c and / or another network entity 105. In some aspects, the control signaling may indicate a first TCI state group corresponding to a first set of TRPs, and a second TCI state group corresponding to a second set of TRPs.
[0177] For example, the control signaling may indicate a bitmap, a combination index, or both, which indicates a TRP included in the first set of TRPs, the second set of TRPs, or both. Specifically, the control signaling may indicate a bitmap or a combination index, which indicates a TCI state corresponding to a corresponding TCI state group.
[0178] As previously described herein, the indication of the corresponding TCI states (and / or TRPs within a TRP set) included within the corresponding TCI state group may depend on whether the TRP sets are fully overlapping, non-overlapping, or partially overlapping. For example, in the case of non-overlapping TRP sets, the control signaling may include a bitmap, a combined index, or both, which indicates the TRPs included within the smaller of the first set and the second set of TRPs. As another example, in the case of partially overlapping TRP sets, the control signaling may indicate at least one TRP shared across the first set of TRPs and the second set of TRPs, and an indication of at least one additional TRP included in the smaller of the first set and the second set of TRPs and not shared across the first set and the second set of TRPs.
[0179] At 610, the UE 115-c may receive an indication of a mapping between DMRS ports and spatial multiplexing layers from the network entity 105-b. For example, the UE 115-b may receive a mapping between a first set of DMRS ports and a first set of spatial multiplexing layers, and a mapping between a second set of DMRS ports and a second set of spatial multiplexing layers. In some aspects, the mapping shown and described at 610 may be indicated via control signaling at 605, additional control signaling, or both.
[0180] At 615, the UE 115-c may receive from the network entity 105-b an indication of a mapping between TCI state groups and corresponding DMRS ports, corresponding spatial multiplexing layers, or both, configured via the control signaling at 605. For example, the UE 115-b may receive a first mapping between a first TCI state group and a first set of DMRS ports, a first set of spatial multiplexing layers, or both, and a second mapping between a second TCI state group and a second set of DMRS ports, a second set of spatial multiplexing layers, or both. In this regard, the mapping between the TCI state groups and DMRS ports / layers indicated at 615 may be based on the mapping between the DMRS ports and spatial multiplexing layers indicated at 610. In some aspects, the mapping shown and described at 615 may be indicated via the control signaling at 605, additional control signaling, or both.
[0181] In additional or alternative implementations, the UE 115 - c may receive (via control signaling at 605 , additional control signaling, or both) an indication of a first CDM group associated with a first set of DMRS ports and a second CDM group associated with a second set of DMRS ports.
[0182] At 620, UE 115-b may monitor for phase coherent joint transmission (e.g., CJT) of downlink messages. Specifically, UE 115-c may monitor mTRP CJT at 620 according to the various mappings and relationships indicated at 605 to 615.
[0183] At 625, the UE 115-c may receive a phase-coherent joint transmission (e.g., CJT) of a downlink message (e.g., a PDSCH message) from at least one set of TRPs in the set of TRPs (e.g., mTRP CJT). For example, the UE 115-c may receive a CJT of downlink messages from a first set of TRPs based on a first mapping between the first set of TRPs and the first set of DMRS ports. As another example, the UE 115-c may receive a CJT of downlink messages from a second set of TRPs based on a second mapping between the second set of TRPs and the second set of DMRS ports. Thus, the UE 115-c may receive a CJT at 625 based on receiving control signaling at 605, receiving various mappings at 610 and 615, monitoring the CJT at 620, or any combination thereof.
[0184] Figure 7 A block diagram 700 of a device 705 supporting techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The device 705 may be an example of aspects of a UE 115 as described herein. The device 705 may include a receiver 710, a transmitter 715, and a communication manager 720. The device 705 may also include a processor. Each of these components may communicate with each other (e.g., via one or more buses).
[0185] The receiver 710 may provide means for receiving information (such as packets, user data, control information, or any combination thereof) associated with various information channels (e.g., control channels, data channels, information channels related to techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets). The information may be communicated to other components of the device 705. The receiver 710 may utilize a single antenna or a collection of multiple antennas.
[0186] The transmitter 715 may provide means for transmitting signals generated by other components of the device 705. For example, the transmitter 715 may transmit information (such as packets, user data, control information, or any combination thereof) associated with various information channels (e.g., control channels, data channels, information channels related to techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets). In some examples, the transmitter 715 may be co-located with the receiver 710 in a transceiver module. The transmitter 715 may utilize a single antenna or a collection of multiple antennas.
[0187] The communication manager 720, the receiver 710, the transmitter 715, or various combinations thereof or various components thereof may be examples of means for performing various aspects of the techniques for CJT across multiple TRP sets as described herein. For example, the communication manager 720, the receiver 710, the transmitter 715, or various combinations thereof or components thereof may support methods for performing one or more of the functions described herein.
[0188] In some examples, the communication manager 720, the receiver 710, the transmitter 715, or various combinations or components thereof may be implemented in hardware (e.g., in a communication management circuit). The hardware may include a processor, a digital signal processor (DSP), a central processing unit (CPU), an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, a microcontroller, discrete gate or transistor logic components, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof that is configured as or otherwise supports components for performing the functions described in the present disclosure. In some examples, the processor and a memory coupled to the processor may be configured to perform one or more of the functions described herein (e.g., by executing instructions stored in the memory by the processor).
[0189] Additionally or alternatively, in some examples, the communication manager 720, the receiver 710, the transmitter 715, or various combinations or components thereof may be implemented in code executed by a processor (e.g., as communication management software or firmware). If implemented in code executed by a processor, the functionality of the communication manager 720, the receiver 710, the transmitter 715, or various combinations or components thereof may be performed by a general purpose processor (e.g., configured as or otherwise supporting components for performing the functions described in the present disclosure), a DSP, a CPU, an ASIC, an FPGA, a microcontroller, or any combination of these or other programmable logic devices.
[0190] In some examples, the communication manager 720 can be configured to perform various operations (e.g., receive, obtain, monitor, output, send) using or otherwise cooperating with the receiver 710, the transmitter 715, or both. For example, the communication manager 720 can receive information from the receiver 710, transmit information to the transmitter 715, or be integrated with the receiver 710, the transmitter 715, or both to obtain information, output information, or perform various other operations as described herein.
[0191] According to the examples disclosed herein, the communication manager 720 may support wireless communication at the UE. For example, the communication manager 720 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for receiving control signaling indicating a set of multiple TRPs and a set of measurement resources. The communication manager 720 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for performing measurements on a set of multiple reference signals received from a set of multiple TRPs within the set of measurement resources. The communication manager 720 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for sending a CSI report including a first CSI part and a second CSI part, at least one of the first CSI part or the second CSI part indicating a first mapping between a first set of TRPs in a set of multiple TRPs and a first set of spatial multiplexing layers based on the measurement, and indicating a second mapping between a second set of TRPs in a set of multiple TRPs and a second set of spatial multiplexing layers. The communication manager 720 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for receiving a phase-coherent joint transmission of a downlink message from a first set of TRPs according to a first mapping or from a second set of TRPs according to a second mapping.
[0192] Additionally or alternatively, according to the examples disclosed herein, the communication manager 720 may support wireless communication at the UE. For example, the communication manager 720 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for receiving control signaling indicating a set of multiple TCI states corresponding to a set of multiple TRPs, the control signaling indicating a first TCI state group corresponding to a set of multiple TCI states of a first set of TRPs in the set of multiple TRPs, and a second TCI state group corresponding to a set of multiple TCI states of a second set of TRPs in the set of multiple TRPs. The communication manager 720 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for receiving a first mapping between the first TCI state group and a first set of DMRS ports, a first set of spatial multiplexing layers, or both, and a second mapping between the second TCI state group and a second set of DMRS ports, a second set of spatial multiplexing layers, or both. The communication manager 720 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for monitoring phase-coherent joint transmission of downlink messages from the first set of TRPs according to the first mapping or from the second set of TRPs according to the second mapping.
[0193] By including or configuring the communication manager 720 according to the examples as described herein, the device 705 (e.g., a processor controlling the receiver 710, the transmitter 715, the communication manager 720, or a combination thereof or otherwise coupled thereto) may support techniques that enable TRPs to be grouped into sets that support the same number of spatial multiplexing layers, thereby facilitating more efficient and widespread use of mTRP CJT, which may improve coverage and average throughput within the wireless communication system 100. The communication manager 1420 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for sending a set of multiple reference signals via a set of multiple TRPs within a set of measurement resources. The communication manager 1420 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for receiving a CSI report including a first CSI part and a second CSI part from a UE and based on a set of multiple reference signals, at least one of the first CSI part or the second CSI part indicating a first mapping between a first set of TRPs in a set of multiple TRPs and a first set of spatial multiplexing layers, and indicating a second mapping between a second set of TRPs in a set of multiple TRPs and a second set of spatial multiplexing layers. The communication manager 1420 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for phase-coherent joint transmission of a downlink message to the UE from a first set of TRPs according to a first mapping or from a second set of TRPs according to a second mapping.
[0259] Additionally or alternatively, according to the examples disclosed herein, the communication manager 1420 may support wireless communication at a network entity. For example, the communication manager 1420 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for sending control signaling indicating a set of multiple TCI states corresponding to a set of multiple TRPs to a UE, the control signaling indicating a first TCI state group corresponding to a set of multiple TCI states of a first set of TRPs in the set of multiple TRPs, and a second TCI state group corresponding to a set of multiple TCI states of a second set of TRPs in the set of multiple TRPs. The communication manager 1420 may be configured to or otherwise support a component for phase-coherent joint transmission of a downlink message from the first set of TRPs according to the first mapping or from the second set of TRPs according to the second mapping.
[0260] By including or configuring the communication manager 1420 according to the examples described herein, the device 1405 can support techniques that enable TRPs to be grouped into sets that support the same number of spatial multiplexing layers, thereby facilitating more efficient and widespread use of mTRP CJT, which can improve coverage and average throughput within the wireless communication system 100. In addition, by grouping TRPs based on the number of spatial multiplexing layers supported (e.g., by grouping TRPs based on rank), CSI reporting at the UE 115 in response to mTRPCJT can be simplified. Specifically, grouping TRPs by rank can reduce CSI processing complexity at the UE 115 and reduce the size of CSI reports, thereby reducing control signaling overhead and achieving more efficient use of communication resources.
