AI Technical Summary
In a wireless communication system, the transmission of inter-device coordination (IUC) messages may vary due to the beam used by the receiving user equipment (UE), resulting in inefficient resource management, and the receiving UE may not be able to sense resource use within the network area where the sending UE is located, resulting in beam pair establishment problems.
By implementing an improved IUC-enabled method on a user equipment (UE), the first UE is allowed to send an IUC message on a beam supported by it indicating a preferred set of resources associated with the beam for receiving side link control signaling associated with a random access process or a beam failure recovery process.
It improves the efficiency of resource management in wireless communication systems, ensures effective establishment of beam pairs, reduces dependence on relatively poor beam sets, and improves communication quality and system performance.

[0002] This patent application claims priority to U.S. patent application No. 17 / 943,157, filed by Ryu et al. on September 12, 2022, and entitled “INTER-USE REQUIPMENT COORDINATION FOR RESOURCE MANAGEMENT”; the above application is assigned to the assignee of this application and is expressly incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field
[0003] The following relates to wireless communications including inter-user equipment coordination (IUC) for resource management. Background Art
[0004] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. These systems may be able to support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems (such as long term evolution (LTE) systems, improved LTE (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems) and fifth generation (5G) systems (which may be referred to as new radio (NR) systems). These systems may employ techniques such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include one or more base stations, each of which supports wireless communication for a communication device (which may be referred to as a user equipment (UE)).

[0053] In some wireless communication systems, the auxiliary information transmitted in the inter-user equipment coordination (IUC) message may be different, depending on which beam of the receiving user equipment (UE) is used for sidelink communication with the transmitting UE. In addition, or alternatively, the receiving UE may perform channel sensing to communicate with the transmitting UE, but the receiving UE may not be able to sense resource usage in the network area where the transmitting UE is located. This may cause beam pair establishment problems, and the receiving UE and the transmitting UE may select a relatively poor beam set for sidelink communication.
[0054] According to the examples disclosed herein, a receiving UE may broadcast a message containing IUC information using multiple beams of the receiving UE. In some examples, the IUC information in each message may be different so that each message may be specific to the beam of the receiving UE used to carry the message. For example, each IUC information may contain different preferred resources or non-preferred resources for use by the receiving UE to receive transmissions from the sending UE. The sending UE may receive a message containing IUC information from one of the beams of the receiving UE. The sending UE may send a signal (e.g., a random access channel (RACH) signal or a beam failure recovery (BFR) signal) using resources based on the IUC information contained in the received message. Therefore, the receiving UE and the sending UE may establish a beam pair based on the IUC information specific to the receiving beam used by the receiving UE.
[0055] In some examples, the sending UE may send a message for requesting a channel busy ratio (CBR) from the receiving UE. For example, the sending UE may send a request for IUC information to the receiving UE, the request including a request for CBR. In some examples, the message may specify a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state, a spatial relationship, a spatial domain filter, or a beam according to which the receiving UE is to measure the CBR. The receiving UE may measure the CBR and send a message including IUC information, which may indicate the measured CBR. In some cases, the IUC information may include preferred resources or non-preferred resources of the receiving UE. The receiving UE may measure the CBR based on resources other than the preferred resources of the receiving UE or the non-preferred resources of the receiving UE. Therefore, the sending UE may obtain channel information from the busy area in which the receiving UE is operating.
[0056] Various aspects of the disclosure are first described in the context of a wireless communication system. Various aspects of the disclosure are also described in the context of resource diagrams and process flows. Various aspects of the disclosure are further illustrated by apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow diagrams relating to IUC for resource management, and various aspects of the disclosure are described with reference to these diagrams.
[0057] Figure 1An example of a wireless communication system 100 supporting IUC for resource management according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more network entities 105, one or more UEs 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a long term evolution (LTE) network, an advanced LTE (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, a new radio (NR) network, or a network operating according to other systems and radio technologies, including future systems and radio technologies not explicitly mentioned herein.
[0058] The network entities 105 may be dispersed throughout a geographic area to form the wireless communication system 100 and may include devices of different forms or with different capabilities. In different examples, the network entities 105 may be referred to as network elements, mobile elements, radio access network (RAN) nodes, or network devices, among other nomenclatures. In some examples, the network entities 105 and the UEs 115 may communicate wirelessly via one or more communication links 125 (e.g., radio frequency (RF) access links). For example, the network entity 105 may support a coverage area 110 (e.g., a geographic coverage area) over which the UEs 115 and the network entity 105 may establish one or more communication links 125. The coverage area 110 may be an example of a geographic area over which the network entity 105 and the UEs 115 may support signal communications according to one or more radio access technologies (RATs).
[0059] The UEs 115 may be dispersed throughout the coverage area 110 of the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be stationary or mobile, or both, at different times. The UEs 115 may be devices in different forms or with different capabilities. Figure 1 Some example UEs 115 are shown in FIG. 1. The UEs 115 described herein can support communication with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115 or network entities 105, such as Figure 1 shown.
[0060] As described herein, a node of the wireless communication system 100 (which may be referred to as a network node, or a wireless node) may be a network entity 105 (e.g., any network entity described herein), a UE 115 (e.g., any UE described herein), a network controller, an apparatus, a device, a computing system, one or more components, or another suitable processing entity configured to perform any of the techniques described herein. For example, the node may be a UE 115. As another example, the node may be a network entity 105. As another example, a first node may be configured to communicate with a second node or a third node. In one aspect of this example, the first node may be a UE 115, the second node may be a network entity 105, and the third node may be a UE 115. In another aspect of this example, the first node may be a UE 115, the second node may be a network entity 105, and the third node may be a network entity 105. In other aspects of this example, the first, second, and third nodes may be different relative to these examples. Similarly, reference to UE 115, network entity 105, apparatus, device, computing system, etc. may include disclosing UE 115, network entity 105, apparatus, device, computing system, or node, etc. For example, disclosing that UE 115 is configured to receive information from network entity 105 also discloses that the first node is configured to receive information from the second node.
[0061] In some examples, the network entities 105 can communicate with the core network 130, or with each other, or both. For example, the network entities 105 can communicate with the core network 130 via one or more backhaul communication links 120 (e.g., according to S1, N2, N3 or other interface protocols). In some examples, the network entities 105 can communicate with each other directly (e.g., directly between the network entities 105) or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130) via the backhaul communication links 120 (e.g., according to X2, Xn or other interface protocols). In some examples, the network entities 105 can communicate with each other via midhaul communication links 162 (e.g., according to a midhaul interface protocol) or fronthaul communication links 168 (e.g., according to a fronthaul interface protocol) or any combination thereof. The backhaul communication link 120, the midhaul communication link 162, or the fronthaul communication link 168 can be or include one or more wired links (e.g., electrical links, optical fiber links), one or more wireless links (e.g., radio links, wireless optical links), other instances thereof, or various combinations thereof. UE 115 may communicate with core network 130 via communication link 155 .
[0062] One or more of the network entities 105 described herein may include or may be referred to as a base station 140 (e.g., a base station transceiver, a radio base station, a NR base station, an access point, a radio transceiver, a node B, an evolved node B (eNB), a next generation node B, or a gigabit node B (any of which may be referred to as a gNB), a 5G NB, a next generation eNB (ng-eNB), a home node B, a home evolved node B, or other suitable terms). In some examples, the network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) may be implemented in an aggregated (e.g., monolithic, independent) base station architecture, which may be configured to utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically integrated within a single network entity 105 (e.g., a single RAN node, such as a base station 140).
[0063] In some examples, the network entity 105 can be implemented in a decomposed architecture (e.g., a decomposed base station architecture, a decomposed RAN architecture), which can be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically distributed between two or more network entities 105, such as an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open RAN (O-RAN) (e.g., a network configuration sponsored by the O-RAN Alliance), or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) (e.g., a cloud RAN (C-RAN)). For example, the network entity 105 may include one or more central units (CU) 160, distributed units (DU) 165, radio units (RU) 170, RAN intelligent controllers (RIC) 175 (e.g., near real-time RIC (Near-RT RIC), non-real-time RIC (Non-RT RIC)), service management and orchestration (SMO) system 180, or any combination thereof. The RU 170 may also be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, a remote radio head (RRH), a remote radio unit (RRU), or a transmit receive point (TRP). One or more components of the network entity 105 in the decomposed RAN architecture may be co-located, or one or more components of the network entity 105 may be located at distributed locations (e.g., separate physical locations). In some examples, one or more network entities 105 of the decomposed RAN architecture may be implemented as virtual units (e.g., virtual CU (VCU), virtual DU (VDU), virtual RU (VRU)).
[0064] The functional split between CU 160, DU 165, and RU 170 is flexible and can support different functions, depending on the functions (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, RF functions, and any combination thereof) performed at CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170. For example, a functional split of a protocol stack can be employed between CU 160 and DU 165 such that CU 160 can support one or more layers of a protocol stack and DU 165 can support one or more different layers of a protocol stack. In some examples, CU 160 can host upper protocol layer (e.g., Layer 3 (L3), Layer 2 (L2)) functions and signaling (e.g., Radio Resource Control (RRC), Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAP), Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP)). The CU 160 may be connected to one or more DUs 165 or RUs 170, and the one or more DUs 165 or RUs 170 may host lower protocol layers, such as layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, medium access control (MAC) layer) functions and signaling, and each may be at least partially controlled by the CU 160. Additionally or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between the DU 165 and the RU 170, such that the DU 165 may support one or more layers of the protocol stack, and the RU 170 may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. The DU 165 may support one or more different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs 170). In some cases, the functional split between the CU 160 and the DU 165, or the functional split between the DU 165 and the RU 170 can be within the protocol layer (e.g., some functions for the protocol layer can be performed by one of the CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170, while other functions of the protocol layer are performed by different functions in the CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170). The CU 160 can be further functionally split into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. The CU 160 can be connected to one or more DUs 165 via midhaul communication links 162 (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u), and the DU 165 can be connected to one or more RUs 170 via fronthaul communication links 168 (e.g., open fronthaul (FH) interface). In some examples, midhaul communication link 162 or fronthaul communication link 168 may be implemented according to interfaces (eg, channels) between layers of a protocol stack supported by the respective network entities 105 communicating via such communication links.
[0065] In a wireless communication system (e.g., wireless communication system 100), infrastructure and spectrum resources for radio access can support wireless backhaul link capabilities to supplement wired backhaul connections, providing an IAB network architecture (e.g., to the core network 130). In some cases, in an IAB network, one or more network entities 105 (e.g., IAB nodes 104) can partially control each other. One or more IAB nodes 104 can be referred to as donor entities or IAB donors. One or more DUs 165 or one or more RUs 170 can be controlled in part by one or more CUs 160 associated with a donor network entity 105 (e.g., donor base station 140). One or more donor network entities 105 (e.g., IAB donors) can communicate with one or more additional network entities 105 (e.g., IAB nodes 104) via supported access and backhaul links (e.g., backhaul communication links 120). The IAB node 104 may include an IAB mobile terminal (IAB-MT) controlled (e.g., scheduled) by a DU 165 coupled to the IAB donor. The IAB-MT may include an independent set of antennas for relaying communications with the UE 115, or may share the same antennas of the IAB node 104 (e.g., the same antennas of the RU 170) for access via the DU 165 of the IAB node 104 (e.g., referred to as a virtual IAB-MT (vIAB-MT)). In some examples, the IAB node 104 may include a DU 165 that supports communication links with additional entities (e.g., IAB node 104, UE 115) within a relay chain or configuration (e.g., downstream) of the access network. In such a case, one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture (e.g., one or more IAB nodes 104 or components of the IAB node 104) may be configured to operate according to the techniques described herein.
[0066] Where the techniques described herein are applied to the context of a decomposed RAN architecture, one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture may be configured to support IUC for resource management, as described herein. For example, some operations described as being performed by a UE 115 or a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) may additionally or alternatively be performed by one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture (e.g., an IAB node 104, a DU 165, a CU 160, a RU 170, a RIC 175, a SMO 180).
[0067] UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable terminology, where a "device" may also be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, etc. UE 115 may also include or may be referred to as a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or a machine type communication (MTC) device, etc., which may be implemented in various objects such as appliances or vehicles, meters, etc.
[0068] like Figure 1 As shown, the UE 115 described herein may be able to communicate with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115 that may sometimes act as relays, as well as network entities 105 and network devices, including macro eNBs or gNBs, small cell eNBs or gNBs, or relay base stations, etc.
[0069] The UE 115 and the network entity 105 can use resources associated with one or more carriers to wirelessly communicate with each other via one or more communication links 125 (e.g., access links). The term "carrier" can refer to a set of RF spectrum resources with a defined physical layer structure to support the communication link 125. For example, a carrier for the communication link 125 may include a portion of an RF spectrum band (e.g., a bandwidth portion (BWP)) that operates according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). Each physical layer channel can carry acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling for coordinating carrier operations, user data, or other signaling. The wireless communication system 100 can support communication with the UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. According to the carrier aggregation configuration, the UE 115 can be configured to have multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers. Carrier aggregation can be used with both frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) component carriers. Communication between the network entity 105 and other devices may refer to communication between a device and any portion (e.g., entity, sub-entity) of the network entity 105. For example, the terms "sending," "receiving," or "communicating," when referring to the network entity 105, may refer to any portion of the network entity 105 of the RAN (e.g., base station 140, CU 160, DU 165, RU 170) communicating with another device (e.g., directly or via one or more other network entities 105).
[0070] The signal waveform transmitted via the carrier may be composed of multiple subcarriers (e.g., using multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system employing MCM techniques, a resource element may refer to a resource of one symbol period (e.g., the duration of one modulation symbol) and one subcarrier, in which case the symbol period and the subcarrier spacing are inversely related. The amount of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both), so that a relatively higher amount of resource elements (e.g., within the transmission duration) and a relatively higher modulation scheme order may correspond to a relatively higher communication rate. Wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of RF spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers, beams), and the use of multiple spatial resources may increase the data rate or data integrity used for communication with UE 115.
[0071] The time interval for the network entity 105 or the UE 115 may be expressed in multiples of a basic time unit, for example, T s =1 / (Δf max ·N f ) seconds sampling period, for its Δf max It can indicate the supported subcarrier spacing, and N f The supported discrete Fourier transform (DFT) size may be indicated. The time intervals of the communication resources may be organized according to radio frames, each radio frame having a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) (e.g., ranging from 0 to 1023).
[0072] Each frame may include a plurality of consecutively numbered subframes or time slots, and each subframe or time slot may have the same duration. In some examples, a frame may be divided into subframes (e.g., in the time domain), and each subframe may be further divided into a number of time slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of time slots, and the number of time slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each time slot may include a number of symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of the cyclic prefix appended in front of each symbol period). In some wireless communication systems 100, a time slot may be further divided into a plurality of micro-time slots associated with one or more symbols. Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may be associated with one or more (e.g., N f ) sampling period. The duration of a symbol period may depend on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band.
[0073] A subframe, slot, mini-slot, or symbol may be the smallest scheduling unit (e.g., in the time domain) of the wireless communication system 100 and may be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In some examples, the TTI duration (e.g., the amount of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be dynamically selected (e.g., in a burst of a shortened TTI (sTTI)).
[0074] According to various techniques, physical channels may be multiplexed using carriers for communication. For example, physical control channels and physical data channels for signaling may be multiplexed via downlink carriers using one or more of a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) of a physical control channel may be defined by a set of symbol periods and may extend across a system bandwidth or a subset of a system bandwidth of a carrier. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESETs) may be configured for a group of UEs 115. For example, one or more of UEs 115 may monitor or search a control region for control information according to one or more search space sets, and each search space set may include one or more control channel candidates in one or more aggregation levels arranged in a cascaded manner. The aggregation level of a control channel candidate may refer to the amount of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with coded information for a control information format having a given payload size. The search space sets may include a common search space set configured for transmitting control information to a plurality of UEs 115 , and a UE-specific search space set for transmitting control information to a specific UE 115 .
[0075] In some examples, the network entities 105 (e.g., base stations 140, RUs 170) may be mobile and, therefore, provide communication coverage for mobile coverage areas 110. In some examples, different coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, but the different coverage areas 110 may be supported by the same network entity 105. In some other examples, overlapping coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by different network entities 105. The wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous network in which different types of network entities 105 provide coverage for various coverage areas 110 using the same or different radio access technologies.
[0076] The wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable communication or low-latency communication, or various combinations thereof. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC). UE 115 can be designed to support ultra-reliable, low-latency or critical functions. Ultra-reliable communication can include private communication or group communication, and can be supported by one or more services (such as push-to-talk, video or data). Support for ultra-reliable, low-latency functions can include prioritization of services, and such services can be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms ultra-reliable, low-latency and ultra-reliable low-latency can be used interchangeably in this article.
[0077] In some examples, the UE 115 may be configured to support communication directly with other UEs 115 via a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., according to a peer-to-peer (P2P), D2D, or sidelink protocol). In some examples, one or more UEs 115 in a group that are performing D2D communication may be within a coverage area 110 of a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140, a RU 170), which may support various aspects of such D2D communication configured by the network entity 105 (e.g., scheduled by the network entity 105). In some examples, one or more UEs 115 in such a group may be located outside of the coverage area 110 of the network entity 105, or may otherwise be unable or not configured to receive transmissions from the network entity 105. In some examples, a group of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication may support a one-to-many (1:M) system in which each UE 115 transmits to each of the other UEs 115 in the group. In some examples, network entity 105 may facilitate scheduling of resources for D2D communications. In some other examples, D2D communications may be performed between UEs 115 without involving network entity 105.
[0078] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connection, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include at least one control plane entity for managing access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management function (AMF)) and at least one user plane entity for routing packets to an external network or interconnecting to an external network (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function (UPF)). The control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management of a UE 115 served by a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) associated with the core network 130. User IP packets may be delivered through user plane entities, which may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The user plane entity may be connected to an IP service 150 for one or more network operators. IP services 150 may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched streaming services.
[0079] The wireless communication system 100 can operate using one or more frequency bands, which can range from 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). Typically, the region from 300 MHz to 3 GHz is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band because the wavelengths range in length from about 1 decimeter to 1 meter. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features (which may be referred to as clusters), but these waves may be sufficient to penetrate structures so that macro cells provide services to UEs 115 located indoors. Communications using UHF waves may be associated with smaller antennas and shorter distances (e.g., less than 100 kilometers) compared to communications using lower frequencies and longer waves in the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portions of the spectrum below 300 MHz.
[0080] The wireless communication system 100 can utilize both licensed and unlicensed RF spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can use unlicensed bands such as the 5 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band, using license assisted access (LAA), LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology. When operating using unlicensed RF spectrum bands, devices such as network entities 105 and UE 115 can use carrier sensing for conflict detection and avoidance. In some examples, operations using unlicensed bands can be based on a carrier aggregation configuration combined with component carriers operating using licensed bands (e.g., LAA). Operations using unlicensed spectrum can include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, and the like.
[0081] The network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170) or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas, which may be used to employ technologies such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, or beamforming. The antennas of the network entity 105 or UE 115 may be located in one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels, which may support MIMO operations or transmit beamforming or receive beamforming. For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located at an antenna assembly, such as an antenna tower. In some examples, antennas or antenna arrays associated with the network entity 105 may be located at different geographical locations. The network entity 105 may include an antenna array having a row and column set of antenna ports, which the network entity 105 may use to support beamforming for communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may include one or more antenna arrays, which may support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, the antenna panel may support RF beamforming for signals sent via the antenna ports.
[0082] Beamforming, which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception, is a signal processing technique that may be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., network entity 105, UE 115) to shape or steer an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals transmitted via antenna elements of an antenna array so that signals propagating in a particular direction relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals transmitted via antenna elements may include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals transmitted via antenna elements associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each of these antenna elements may be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular direction (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device or relative to some other direction).
[0083] The network entity 105 or UE 115 may use beam scanning techniques as part of a beamforming operation. For example, the network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170) may use multiple antennas or antenna arrays (e.g., antenna panels) to perform beamforming operations for directional communication with UE 115. Some signals (e.g., synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) may be transmitted multiple times by the network entity 105 in different directions. For example, the network entity 105 may transmit signals according to different beamforming weight sets associated with different transmission directions. Transmissions along different beam directions may be used to identify (e.g., by a transmitting device (e.g., network entity 105), or by a receiving device (e.g., UE 115)) beam directions for the network entity 105 to transmit or receive later.
[0084] Some signals, such as data signals associated with a particular receiving device, may be sent by a transmitting device (e.g., transmitting network entity 105, transmitting UE 115) along a single beam direction (e.g., a direction associated with a receiving device, such as receiving network entity 105 or receiving UE 115). In some examples, a beam direction associated with transmission along a single beam direction may be determined based on signals sent along one or more beam directions. For example, UE 115 may receive one or more of the signals sent by network entity 105 along different directions, and may report to network entity 105 an indication of the signal received by UE 115 with the highest signal quality or other acceptable signal quality.
[0085] In some examples, transmissions by a device (e.g., network entity 105 or UE 115) may be performed using multiple beam directions, and the device may use a combination of digital precoding or beamforming to generate a combined beam for transmission (e.g., from network entity 105 to UE 115). UE 115 may report feedback indicating precoding weights for one or more beam directions, and the feedback may correspond to a configured set of beams across a system bandwidth or one or more subbands. Network entity 105 may send reference signals (e.g., cell-specific reference signals (CRS), channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS)), which may or may not be precoded. UE 115 may provide feedback for beam selection, which may be a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) or codebook-based feedback (e.g., a multi-faceted codebook, a linear combination codebook, a port selection codebook). Although these techniques are described with reference to signals sent along one or more directions by a network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170), UE 115 may employ similar techniques to send signals multiple times along different directions (e.g., for identifying a beam direction for subsequent transmission or reception by UE 115), or to send signals along a single direction (e.g., for sending data to a receiving device).
[0086] When receiving various signals (e.g., synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) from a receiving device (e.g., network entity 105), the receiving device (e.g., UE 115) may perform receiving operations according to multiple receiving configurations (e.g., directional listening). For example, the receiving device may perform reception according to multiple receiving directions by receiving via different antenna subarrays, by processing received signals according to different antenna subarrays, by receiving according to different receiving beamforming weight sets applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array (e.g., different directional listening weight sets), or by processing received signals according to different receiving beamforming weight sets applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array, any of which may be referred to as "listening" according to different receiving configurations or receiving directions. In some examples, the receiving device may use a single receiving configuration to receive along a single beam direction (e.g., when receiving a data signal). A single receive configuration may be aligned along a beam direction determined based on listening according to different receive configuration directions (e.g., a beam direction determined to have the highest signal strength, highest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), or other acceptable signal quality based on listening according to multiple beam directions).
[0087] In some examples, UE 115, such as a sending UE, can perform sidelink communication according to different modes. For example, in one mode, UE 115 can rely on network entity 105 to manage sidelink communication resources. In this mode, the network entity can send a message to UE 115, and the message indicates the sidelink communication resources. In another mode, for example, UE 115 can determine the sidelink communication resources. In the case where the sending UE 115 determines the sidelink communication resources, the sending UE 115 can sense the resources used by other sending UEs 115, and the sending UE 115 can determine the available sidelink communication resources for communicating with the receiving UE 115. For example, some sending UEs 115 can use sidelink control information (SCI) to reserve communication resources. The sending UE 115 can sense the channel by, for example, receiving SCI from a nearby sending UE 115, and determine the resources that can be used for the sending UE 115 in future sidelink communications.
[0088] In some examples, UE 115 may perform an IUC process. In some cases (e.g., Scheme 1), the sending UE 115 may select or reselect a communication resource based on the auxiliary information received from the nearby sidelink UE 115. For example, the nearby sidelink UE 115 may indicate a preferred resource or a non-preferred resource to the sending UE 115. In some examples, the auxiliary information may be sent by the UE 115 based on a request from the sending UE 115. In other examples, the auxiliary information may be sent by the UE 115 based on satisfying a condition at the UE 115. In some cases (e.g., Scheme 2), the sending UE 115 may select a communication resource and broadcast a reservation message. The nearby UE 115 may receive the reservation message and send a message to the sending UE 115, the message indicating that the nearby UE 115 has a conflict with the resource selected by the sending UE 115.
[0089] The sending UE 115 may send a request (e.g., an IUC request message) for a nearby UE 115 to provide auxiliary information (e.g., IUC information) about preferred or non-preferred resources for transmission from the sending UE 115 to the nearby UE 115. For example, the request may include a priority value for transmission, a number of subchannels for transmission, a resource reservation interval, a start time and an end time of a resource selection window, or a combination thereof. In some examples, the auxiliary information may include an indication that the nearby UE 115 may prefer the sending UE 115 for transmission (e.g., preferred resources). In addition, or alternatively, the auxiliary information may include an indication that the nearby UE 115 may prefer the sending UE 115 for not using the transmission (e.g., non-preferred resources). The sending UE 115 may receive the auxiliary information indicating the preferred resources, and the sending UE 115 may attempt to use the indicated preferred resources for transmission. Similarly, the sending UE 115 may receive the auxiliary information indicating the non-preferred resources, and the sending UE may avoid using the non-preferred resources for transmission.
[0090] In some examples, the receiving UE 115 may select a preferred resource or a non-preferred resource based on resource usage by a nearby transmitting UE 115. For example, the receiving UE 115 may sense (e.g., receive) a reservation SCI for reserving a first resource from a nearby transmitting UE 115, and the receiving UE 115 may select a second resource different from the first resource as a preferred resource. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115 may select the first resource as a non-preferred resource. The receiving UE 115 may send a message (e.g., IUC information) indicating a preferred resource or a non-preferred resource, which may help avoid interfering with transmissions of nearby transmitting UEs 115.
[0091] In some cases, if the receiving UE 115 is the intended recipient of the transmission of the transmitting UE 115, and the transmitting UE 115 selects resources determined to be available by the receiving UE 115 for the transmission, the transmitting UE 115 may request preferred resources from the receiving UE 115. Similarly, if the receiving UE 115 is the intended recipient for the transmission, and the transmitting UE 115 selects resources to avoid interference from nearby transmissions, the transmitting UE 115 may request non-preferred resources from the receiving UE 115. Additionally, or alternatively, if the receiving UE 115 is not the intended recipient for the transmission, the transmitting UE 115 may request non-preferred resources to avoid interfering with transmissions received by the receiving UE 115.
[0092] The transmitting UE 115 may receive IUC information from the receiving UE 115, the IUC information indicating a preferred resource set or a non-preferred resource set. The transmitting UE 115 may transmit using resources based on the IUC information received from the receiving UE 115 and, in some cases, sensing performed by the transmitting UE 115 or IUC information received from other UEs 115. In some cases, the transmitting UE 115 may check whether the number of candidate resources is below a threshold, and if so, the transmitting UE 115 may include resources outside the preferred resource set or resources within the non-preferred resource set until the threshold is reached.
[0093] In some examples, UE 115 may send IUC information using a medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC-CE) message or an SCI2-C message. In some cases, UE 115 may use a MAC-CE message to indicate more than two preferred resources or non-preferred resources, and UE 115 may use a MAC-CE or SCI 2-C message when indicating 2 or less preferred resources or non-preferred resources. Preferred resources or non-preferred resources may be indicated using one or more of a time resource indicator value (TRIV), a frequency resource indicator value (FRIV), and a resource reservation interval (RRI).
[0094] The message containing the IUC information may include one or more fields corresponding to: an indicator for providing or requesting information, a resource combination, a first resource position, a reference time slot position, a resource set type, and a lowest subchannel index for the first resource position of each TRIV. In some examples, the field size (e.g., in bits) for the field corresponding to the resource combination may be given by the following formula 1, where N corresponds to the number of resources indicated in the IUC information, Provided by the high-level parameter sl-NumSubchannel, and Y is given by the following formula 2, where N rsv_period is the number of entries in the higher-level parameter sl-resourcereservePeriodList (if the higher-level parameter is configured), and Y is zero (if the higher-level parameter is not configured).
[0095]
[0096] Y=log2N rsv_period (2)
[0097] In a further example, the field size for the field corresponding to the first resource location may be given by Formula 3 below, where X is provided by the maximum value of the configured or preconfigured slot offset for the case where the message is used as a container for IUC information.
[0098] (N-1)*log2X(3)
[0099] The field size for the field corresponding to the reference first time slot position can be given by the following Formula 4, where μ is a value of zero, one, two or three corresponding to a subcarrier spacing (SCS) of 15kHz, 30kHz, 60kHz or 120kHz, respectively.
[0100] 10+log2(10*2 μ )(4)
[0101] The field size for the field of the lowest sub-channel index corresponding to the first resource position of each TRIV may be given by Formula 5 below.
[0102]
[0103] In some examples, UE 115 may determine the CBR, for example, in a CBR measurement window, which may be a calculation of resource usage of the network sensed by UE 115 divided by the total amount of available resources. UE 115 may sense resource usage of the network based on a sidelink received signal strength indicator (SL RSSI), which may be a linear average of the total received power observed in the configured subchannels, starting from the second OFDM symbol, in OFDM symbols in a time slot configured for sidelink data and control transmissions. Depending on the frequency range for the SL RSSI, UE 115 may determine the CBR based on a reference point for the SL RSSI (which may be an antenna connector of UE 115), or based on a combined signal from antenna elements corresponding to a receive branch of UE 115. For example, UE 115 may use the CBR measurement to select the number of HARQ retransmissions, parameters for sidelink transmissions in a time slot (e.g., L subCH ), modulation and coding scheme (MCS) selection, and channel occupancy rate (CR) limit selection.
[0104] In some cases, the auxiliary information determined by the receiving UE 115 and transmitted in the IUC message may depend on which beam of the receiving UE 115 is being used for sidelink communication with the transmitting UE 115. In addition, the transmitting UE 115 may perform channel sensing for upcoming communication with the receiving UE 115 located in a busy area of the network, which may be an area with a relatively large number of transmission or transmission devices. However, the transmitting UE 115 may not be able to sense resource usage in the busy area of the network where the receiving UE 115 is located. This may cause beam pair establishment problems, and the receiving UE 115 and the transmitting UE 115 may select a relatively poor beam set for sidelink communication.
[0105] According to examples as disclosed herein, a receiving UE 115 may broadcast a message containing IUC information using multiple beams of the receiving UE 115. In some examples, for each beam of the receiving UE 115, the IUC information in each message sent on each beam may be different. For example, each IUC information may contain different preferred resources or non-preferred resources to be used by the receiving UE 115 to receive a transmission from the sending UE 115. The sending UE 115 may receive a message containing IUC information from one of the beams of the receiving UE 115. The sending UE may send a signal (e.g., a RACH signal or a BFR signal) using a resource based on the IUC information contained in the received message. Therefore, the receiving UE 115 and the sending UE 115 may establish a beam pair based on the IUC information specific to the receiving beam used by the receiving UE 115.
[0106] In some examples, the sending UE 115 may send a message for requesting a CBR from the receiving UE 115. For example, the sending UE 115 may send a request for IUC information to the receiving UE 115, the request including a request for CBR. In some examples, the message may specify a TCI state, a spatial relationship, a spatial domain filter, or a beam according to which the receiving UE 115 is to measure the CBR. The receiving UE 115 may measure the CBR and send a message including the IUC information, the message may indicate the measured CBR. In some cases, the IUC information may include a preferred resource or a non-preferred resource of the receiving UE 115. The receiving UE 115 may measure the CBR for a preferred resource of the receiving UE 115 or for a resource other than a non-preferred resource of the receiving UE 115. Therefore, the sending UE 115 may obtain channel information from a busy area of the network in which the receiving UE 115 is operating.
[0107] Figure 2 An example of a wireless communication system 200 is shown that supports IUC for resource management according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure. The wireless communication system 200 may be as described herein with reference to Figure 1 The wireless communication system 200 may include UE 115-a, UE 115-b, UE 115-c, UE 115-d, UE 115-e, UE 115-f, and UE 115-g, which may be as described herein. Figure 1 UE 115a may support sidelink communications with other UEs 115 via communication links 240-a, 240-b, 240-c, and 240-d, which may be referred to herein. Figure 1 An example of a communication link 125 is described.
[0108] In some examples, UE 115 may perform sidelink communications using one or more beams 205 to receive or send sidelink messages. For example, UE 115-a may support sidelink communications using beam 205-a, beam 205-b, beam 205-c, and beam 205-d. Similarly, UE 115-b may support communications using beam 205-e, UE 115-c may use beam 205-f, UE 115-d may use beam 205-g, UE 115-e may use beam 205-h, UE 115-f may use beam 205-i, and UE 115-g may use beam 205-j.
[0109] In some examples, one or more UEs 115 may use IUC messages 215 to transmit assistance information to assist in performing sidelink communications. However, in some cases, the assistance information may be different depending on which beam 205 the UE 115 is using to receive the sidelink communication. In addition, the receiving UE 115 may perform channel sensing for communicating with a transmitting UE 115 located in a busy area 210, which may be an area with a relatively large number of transmission or transmitting devices, but the receiving UE 115 may not be able to sense resource usage in the busy area 210. This may cause beam pair establishment problems, and the receiving UE 115 and the transmitting UE 115 may select a relatively poor beam set for transmission.
[0110] According to examples as described herein, UE 115-a may send an IUC message 215 via one or more beams 205. For example, UE 115-a may send an IUC message 215 on each of beam 205-a, beam 205-b, beam 205-c, and beam 205-d. In some examples, the IUC message 215 may be different for each beam 205. For example, each IUC message 215 may indicate resources (e.g., RACH resources), such as preferred resources or non-preferred resources for sidelink communications corresponding to each respective beam 205. That is, UE 115-a may determine preferred resources or non-preferred resources for receiving signals (e.g., BFR or RACH signals) on one or more beams 205. UE 115-a may then broadcast an IUC message on each respective beam 205, the IUC message indicating the preferred resources or non-preferred resources associated with each respective beam 205.
[0111] UE 115-a may select preferred resources or non-preferred resources to be included in the IUC message 215 via channel sensing. Some transmitting UEs 115 may reserve communication resources using SCI. UE 115-a may perform channel sensing by, for example, receiving SCI from a nearby transmitting UE 115. UE 115-a may determine resources available for sidelink communications based on channel sensing. In some examples, UE 115-a may select preferred resources or non-preferred resources for beam 205-a to reduce interference in communications using beam 205-a. Similarly, UE 115-a may select non-preferred resources based on resources in use by the transmitting UE 115. Preferred resources and non-preferred resources are referred to herein as Figure 3 Shown in more detail.
[0112] In some examples, the IUC message 215 may indicate a time during which the UE 115-a is to listen for a control signal (e.g., a RACH or BFR signal) from another UE 115. In some cases, the IUC message 215 may include or be sent with a master information block (MIB) or a system information block (SIB). The UE 115-a may use a spatial filter to send the IUC message 215. In some cases, the IUC message 215 may include a request (e.g., an IUC request) that may instruct the receiving UE 115 to include information about preferred resources or non-preferred resources for receiving a response signal 225 (e.g., a BFR or RACH response) in the control signal 220 (e.g., a BFR or RACH signal). In some examples, the IUC message 215 may include synchronization information or other system information.
[0113] UE 115-b may receive an IUC message 215 broadcasted by UE 115-a via beam 205-a via beam 205-e. For example, UE 115-b may scan channels for IUC message 215 for initial access from any UE 115. UE 115-b may detect and receive IUC message 215 from UE 115-a via beam 205-e. UE 115-b may decide to connect with UE 115-a (e.g., initiate sidelink communication) and send a control signal 220 (e.g., a BFR or RACH signal) to UE 115-a. UE 115-b may send control signal 220 via beam 205-e using the preferred resources indicated in the IUC message 215 received from UE 115-a. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-b may send control signal 220 via beam 205-e using resources that are not non-preferred resources indicated in IUC message 215 received from UE 115-a. In some examples, UE 115-b may send control signal 220 for a duration indicated in IUC message 215 during which UE 115-a is to monitor control signals via beam 205-a. In some cases, UE 115-b may send control signal 220 using a spatial filter used to receive IUC message 215 from UE 115-a. In some examples, UE 115-b may include preferred resource or non-preferred resource information in control signal 220 or another message (e.g., IUC message 215), such as when UE 115-a requests in IUC message 215.
[0114] UE 115-a may receive control signal 220 from UE 115-b via beam 205-a. For example, UE 115-a may receive control signal 220 via resources indicated in IUC message 215 sent via beam 205-a. In some examples, control signal 220 may be received during a duration indicated in IUC message 215 during which UE 115-a monitors control signal 220 via beam 205-a. UE 115-a may send response signal 225 (e.g., RACH or BFR response signal) to UE 115-b. In some examples, such as when IUC message 215 includes a request for UE 115-b to provide preferred resource or non-preferred resource information, UE 115-a may send response signal 225 using preferred resources of UE 115-b or resources that are not non-preferred resources.
[0115] In some examples, UE 115-a may adjust transmission parameters to minimize interference to other UEs 115 in a busy area 210 (e.g., an area with a relatively high number of transmission or transmitting devices). For example, if UE 115-a is communicating with UE 115-b, which may be outside of busy area 210, UE 115-a may avoid adjusting transmission parameters to reduce interference. At the same time, if UE 115-a is communicating with UE 115-e, UE 115-a may use adjusted transmission parameters, such as by using a reduced transmission bandwidth for transmission. However, UE 115-a may not be aware that UE 115-e is located within busy area 210 because UE 115-a may not be able to perform channel sensing within busy area 210.
[0116] Thus, UE 115-a may send a CBR request 230 to UE 115-e to help determine whether to adjust the transmission parameters. For example, UE 115-a may use beam 205-b (e.g., via communication link 240-c) to send CBR request 230 to UE 115-e. In some examples, CBR request 230 may be part of an IUC message 215 (e.g., a request for IUC information). For example, a request for IUC information may implicitly include a request for CBR measurement. In some cases, CBR request 230 may specify a TCI state, spatial relationship, spatial domain filter, beam, or combination thereof for which UE 115-e should measure CBR. For example, UE 115-a may indicate to UE 115-e in CBR request 230 that beam 205-h is used to perform CBR measurement. In some examples, such as when CBR request 230 is part of IUC message 215, CBR request 230 may include preferred resources or non-preferred resources.
[0117] The UE 115-e may perform a CBR measurement (e.g., receive a CBR measurement) based on the received CBR request 230. For example, the UE 115-e may receive the CBR request 230 (e.g., as part of the IUC message 215) and perform the CBR measurement by sensing resource usage in the busy area 210, as described herein with reference to Figure 1230. In some examples, the UE 115-e may perform CBR measurements using TCI states, spatial relationships, beams 205, spatial domain filters, or a combination thereof (e.g., as specified in the CBR request 230). The UE 115-e may perform CBR measurements based on preferred resources or non-preferred resources associated with the CBR request 230. For example, the CBR measurement may be performed on a preferred resource associated with the CBR request 230. In some other examples, the CBR measurement may be performed on a resource that is not a non-preferred resource associated with the CBR request 230.
[0118] UE 115-e may send a message including a CBR indication 235, which may indicate to UE 115-a the CBR measurement performed by UE 115-e. Accordingly, UE 115-a may adjust transmission parameters based on the CBR measurement performed by UE 115-e within busy area 210, and UE 115-a may decide to use a reduced transmission bandwidth for sidelink transmissions with UE 115-e.
[0119] Figure 3 An example of a resource map 300 that supports IUC for resource management according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is shown. Resource map 300 shows resources 305, which may be as described herein with reference to Figure 1 and Figure 2 The resource map 300 shows resource information 310-a and resource information 310-b, which can be as described herein. Figure 2 Examples of information included in IUC message 215 are described.
[0120] In some examples, UE 115 may select preferred resources 305-b or non-preferred resources 305-a based on resource usage of nearby transmitting UE 115. For example, receiving UE 115 may sense (e.g., receive) a reserved SCI for reserving first resources 305 from a nearby transmitting UE 115. Receiving UE 115 may select a second resource different from the first resource as a preferred resource. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115 may select the first resource as a non-preferred resource. Receiving UE 115 may send a message (e.g., IUC information) indicating a preferred resource or a non-preferred resource, which may help avoid interference with transmissions of nearby transmitting UE 115.
[0121] In some examples, such as when the receiving UE 115 knows or assumes the properties of the expected transmission from the sending UE 115, the receiving UE 115 can perform physical layer channel sensing to determine available resources. For example, the receiving UE 115 can perform physical layer resource exclusion on the resource set 305 in the resource selection window based on the time slots that were not sensed by the receiving UE 115. The receiving UE 115 can then check whether the amount of remaining resources 305 is below a threshold amount, where the threshold amount can be based on one or more parameters (e.g., a parameter corresponding to the priority of the sending UE 115, prio Tx ), and reinitialize the set to include resources 305 in the resource sensing window. The receiving UE 115 may then perform resource exclusion on the set based on the SCI received from the nearby UEs 115. The receiving UE 115 may check whether the amount of remaining resources 305 is below a threshold amount, and if so, reinitialize the set after combining one or more internal parameters associated with the received priority field and the priority of the receiving UE 115 (e.g., Th(p)). i ,p j )) increases by a certain amount (e.g., 3 decibels (dB)), restart the physical layer resource exclusion process. Otherwise, the receiving UE 115 can send a message (e.g., a MAC-CE message) to the sending UE 115 to indicate the resource set.
[0122] In other examples, such as when the receiving UE 115 is unaware of the properties of the expected transmission from the transmitting UE 115, the receiving UE 115 may measure the reference signal received power (RSRP) of the transmissions of the nearby transmitting UEs 115, and the receiving UE 115 may calculate the priority and resource reservation of the nearby transmitting UEs 115. In some examples, the preferred resources 305-b (e.g., candidate single-slot resources) for the receiving UE 115 may exclude resources that overlap with the reserved resources 305 of the transmitting UE 115 and have RSRP measurements exceeding a threshold RSRP. In some examples, the receiving UE 115 may select the preferred resources 305-b (e.g., candidate single-slot resources) for the receiving UE 115 based on one or more parameters (e.g., resource window start and end times prio 1). Tx , the amount of subchannels used for transmission (L subCH ), and resource reservation interval (P rsvp_Tx )) to determine the preferred resource 305-b. For example, the receiving UE 115 may determine the preferred resource 305-b based on a parameter corresponding to the priority of the sending UE 115 (e.g., Prio Tx ) to determine the threshold RSRP. In some cases, one or more parameters may be provided in a request for IUC information by the sending UE 115. Additionally or alternatively, the receiving UE 115 may determine one or more parameters, which may be configured or preconfigured to the receiving UE 115.
[0123] In some cases, the receiving UE 115 may determine the non-preferred resources 305-a as resources 305 reserved by other UEs 115 that have a measured RSRP greater than an RSRP threshold configured for the receiving UE 115, and the RSRP threshold may be based on a priority value of the other UEs 115 indicated in the SCI. This may help the receiving UE 115 avoid interference from the other UEs 115 when receiving transmissions. Additionally or alternatively, the receiving UE 115 may determine the non-preferred resources 305-a as resources 305 of the other UEs 115 that are used to transmit to the receiving UE 115 and have a measured RSRP less than the RSRP threshold. This may avoid transmissions received by the receiving UE 115 from interfering with other transmissions received by the receiving UE 115.
[0124] The first UE 115 may send an indication of preferred resources or non-preferred resources (e.g., in IUC information) to the second UE 115 to facilitate sidelink communications. For example, the first UE 115 may send IUC information regarding preferred resources or non-preferred resources for transmission from the second UE 115 to the first UE 115. In another example, the first UE 115 may indicate preferred resources or non-preferred resources for use by the second UE 115 in CBR measurement (e.g., in a CBR request). Figure 2 These applications are described in more detail.
[0125] In some examples, the first UE 115 may send a message (e.g., an IUC message) indicating resource information 310-a to the second UE 115, which may include one or more non-preferred resources 305-a. The second UE 115 may perform operations based on resources 305 other than the non-preferred resources 305-a. For example, the second UE 115 may perform CBR measurements using resources 305 other than the non-preferred resources 305-a. In some other examples, the second UE 115 may perform sidelink communications with the UE 115 using resources 305 other than the non-preferred resources 305-a.
[0126] In a further example, the first UE 115 may send a message (e.g., an IUC message) indicating resource information 310-b to the second UE 115, which may include one or more preferred resources 305-b. The second UE 115 may perform operations based on the preferred resources 305-b. For example, the second UE 115 may perform CBR measurements using the preferred resources 305-b. In another example, the second UE 115 may perform sidelink communications with the UE 115 using the preferred resources 305-b.
[0127] Figure 4 An example of a process flow 400 that supports IUC for resource management according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The process flow 400 may be performed by a process flow 400 as described herein with reference to Figure 1 and 2 The process flow 400 illustrates communication between the UE 115-h and the UE 115-i, which may be implemented as described herein with reference to the wireless communication system 100 or the wireless communication system 200. Figure 1-3 An example of a UE 115 is described. In the following description of process flow 400, operations performed by the device may be performed in a different order or at a different time. Additionally or alternatively, some operations may be omitted from process flow 400, and other operations may be added to process flow 400.
[0128] At 405, UE 115-i may send a request for CBR measurement to UE 115-h. The request for CBR measurement may indicate a TCI state, a spatial relationship, a spatial domain filter, one or more beams, or any combination thereof to be used for UE 115-i to perform CBR measurement. In some examples, the request for CBR measurement may be sent in an IUC message.
[0129] At 410, UE 115-h may send an IUC request to UE 115-i. In some examples, the IUC request may indicate or request UE 115-i to provide one or more preferred resources associated with receiving a response message (e.g., a BFR or RACH response) from UE 115-h. Additionally or alternatively, the IUC request may indicate or request UE 115-i to provide one or more non-preferred resources associated with receiving a response message from UE 115-h. In some examples, the IUC request may be an example of an IUC message.
[0130] At 415, UE 115-h may send an IUC message to UE 115-i on each corresponding beam of one or more beams supported by UE 115-h. Each IUC message may indicate to UE 115-i a preferred set of resources of UE 115-h associated with the corresponding beam. In addition, or alternatively, the IUC message may indicate to UE 115-i a non-preferred set of resources of UE 115-h associated with the corresponding beam. Preferred resources or non-preferred resources may be associated with a RACH process or a BFR process. For example, UE 115-i may determine resources for sending a RACH signal or a BFR signal based on preferred resources or non-preferred resources. In some examples, an IUC request may be sent as part of an IUC message. In some cases, UE 115-h may send an IUC message based on a request for an IUC message received from UE 115-i. UE 115-h may send an IUC message based on a spatial filter. In some examples, the IUC message may be or include synchronization information associated with the UE 115 - h , system information associated with the UE 115 - h , or both.
[0131] In some examples, the IUC message may include an indication of the CBR measurement, such as when the UE 115-h receives a request for a CBR measurement from the UE 115-h. The CBR measurement may be based on the request for the CBR measurement. For example, the CBR measurement may be performed by the UE 115-h based on a TCI state, a spatial relationship, a spatial domain filter, one or more beams, or any combination thereof as indicated in the request for the CBR measurement. In some examples, the CBR measurement may be associated with one or more beams supported by the UE 115-h.
[0132] At 420, UE 115-i may send sidelink control signaling to UE 115-h based on the indicated preferred resource set or the indicated non-preferred resource set. For example, UE 115-i may use one or more of the resources indicated in the preferred resource set to send sidelink control signaling. In addition, or alternatively, UE 115-i may use one or more resources other than the resources indicated in the non-preferred resource set to send sidelink control signaling. Sidelink control signaling may be an example of a BFR signal or a RACH signal. In some cases, such as when UE 115-i receives an IUC request from UE 115-h, the sidelink control signaling may include an indication of a second set of preferred resources or non-preferred resources for UE 115-i to receive a response to the sidelink control signaling. UE 115-i may send sidelink control signaling based on a spatial filter used by UE 115-i to receive an IUC message 415 from UE 115-h. In some examples, UE 115 - i may adjust transmission bandwidth based on received indications of CBR measurements.
[0133] At 425, the UE 115-h may establish or modify a connection based on the received sidelink control signaling. For example, the UE 115-h may establish or modify a connection based on a RACH procedure or a BFR procedure. In some cases, the UE 115-h may establish or modify a connection based on a received indication of a second set of preferred resources or non-preferred resources.
[0134] At 430, UE 115-h may send a response message to UE 115-i. In some examples, the response message may be a BFR response message or a RACH response message. UE 115-h may send the response message based on the preferred resources or the second set of non-preferred resources. For example, UE 115-h may send sidelink control signaling using one or more resources of the resources indicated in the second set of preferred resources. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-h may send sidelink control signaling using one or more resources other than the resources indicated in the second set of non-preferred resources.
[0135] Figure 5 A block diagram 500 of a device 505 supporting IUC for resource management according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is shown. [0140] Additionally or alternatively, in some examples, the communication manager 520, the receiver 510, the transmitter 515, or various combinations or components thereof may be implemented using code executed by a processor (e.g., implemented as communication management software or firmware). If implemented in code executed by a processor, the functions of the communication manager 520, the receiver 510, the transmitter 515, or various combinations or components thereof may be performed by a general purpose processor, a DSP, a CPU, an ASIC, an FPGA, a microcontroller, or any combination of these or other programmable logic devices (e.g., configured as or otherwise supporting means for performing the functions described in the present disclosure).
[0141] In some examples, the communication manager 520 can be configured to perform various operations (e.g., receive, obtain, monitor, output, send) using or otherwise cooperating with the receiver 510, the transmitter 515, or both. For example, the communication manager 520 can receive information from the receiver 510, send information to the transmitter 515, or be integrated with the receiver 510, the transmitter 515, or both to obtain information, output information, or perform various other operations as described herein.
[0142] According to the examples disclosed herein, the communication manager 520 may support wireless communication at the first UE. For example, the communication manager 520 may be configured to or otherwise support a unit for sending an IUC message on each corresponding beam of one or more beams supported by the first UE, the IUC message indicating a preferred resource set associated with the beam, the preferred resource set being used to receive sidelink control signaling associated with a random access procedure or a BFR procedure. The communication manager 520 may be configured to or otherwise support a unit for receiving sidelink control signaling from a second UE on a beam in one or more beams according to a set of preferred resources associated with the beam. The communication manager 520 may be configured to or otherwise support a unit for establishing or modifying a connection between the first UE and the second UE based on the sidelink control signaling according to a random access procedure or a BFR procedure.
[0143] Additionally or alternatively, according to examples as disclosed herein, the communication manager 520 may support wireless communications at the first UE. For example, the communication manager 520 may be configured to or otherwise support a unit for sending an IUC message on a beam supported by the first UE, the IUC message indicating a CBR measurement and a preferred resource set associated with the beam for receiving sidelink signaling. The communication manager 520 may be configured to or otherwise support a unit for receiving sidelink signaling from a second UE on a beam in one or more beams according to a preferred resource set associated with the beam.
[0144] Additionally or alternatively, according to examples as disclosed herein, the communication manager 520 may support wireless communication at the second UE. For example, the communication manager 520 may be configured to or otherwise support a unit for receiving an IUC message indicating a preferred resource set associated with a beam on a beam used to send sidelink control signaling associated with a random access procedure or a BFR procedure. The communication manager 520 may be configured to or otherwise support a unit for sending sidelink control signaling to the first UE on a beam according to a preferred resource set associated with the beam. The communication manager 520 may be configured to or otherwise support a unit for establishing or modifying a connection between the first UE and the second UE based on the sidelink control signaling.
[0145] By including or configuring the communication manager 520 according to examples as described herein, the device 505 (e.g., a processor controlling or otherwise coupled to the receiver 510, the transmitter 515, the communication manager 520, or a combination thereof) can support techniques for IUC for resource management, which can result in more efficient utilization of communication resources.
