Communication system and method based on hybrid product polar codes

Abstract

The disclosed hybrid product polar code based communication system and method are used to: (i) receive an information bit stream; (ii) reshape the information bit stream into a first rectangular information matrix M1 of size K r1 ×K c1 and a second rectangular information matrix M2 of size K r2 ×K c2 ; (iii) convert the rectangular information matrices M1 and M2 into 2D product polar code coded matrices X1 and X2, respectively, using a product polar code, wherein the 2D product polar code coded matrices X1 and X2 have sizes N r1 ×N c1 and N r2 ×N c2 , respectively; (iv) convert the 2D product polar code coded matrices X1 and X2 into a coded bit stream X'; (v) encode the coded bit stream X' into a polar coded bit stream X" using the polar code.
