Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a dispenser and a content container for use in the dispenser. Background Art
[0002] For many years, dispensers of various designs have been widely available on the market, and the dispensers are mainly used for cosmetics or topical medications and medical devices for the purpose of dispensing liquid products such as creams, lotions, gels, etc.
[0003] Compressible dispensers are generally suitable for delivering liquid products by a manual pressing action applied by a user to the dispenser. Compressible dispensers can be of the type in which the contained liquid product does not come into contact with air when being dispensed, which helps to ensure the stability and preservation of the product.
[0004] Compressible dispensers are generally suitable for delivering liquid products by a manual pressing action applied to the wall of the compressible dispenser.
[0005] Some dispensers include: a housing; and an internal replaceable container containing liquid, wherein when the internal container is empty, the internal container can be replaced with a new full container for continued use.
[0006] However, these containers that usually have threaded connection parts between components have the following problems: the internal container may be accidentally removed during dispensing, or the components may not be properly aligned with each other.
[0007] The components of the dispenser generally need to be positioned in an open position and a closed position, which increases the probability of failure between the components of the dispenser, limits the positioning of the dispenser for dispensing, and provides a high risk of contamination of the liquid.
[0008] Other types of dispensers have a substantially rigid reservoir for the liquid product. Such dispensers generally have a pump device for transporting the liquid product from the reservoir to the application position. The pump device generally has a rather complex structure and may include pistons or metal components such as springs that are not suitable for dispensing small doses of liquid. Current dispensers are disposable and thus not reusable. Summary of the Invention
[0009] An object of the present invention is to provide a dispenser that can be reused and prevent accidental removal of the content container, misaligned components, and accidental dispensing of substances, and the dispenser solves the above problems.
[0010] The above object and advantages and many other objects and advantages will become apparent from the description of the present invention and are achieved by the following according to the first aspect of the present invention:
[0011] A dispenser for dispensing a liquid substance, the dispenser comprising:
[0012] - A content container configured to hold the liquid within the content container;
[0013] - A container body having a bottom and side walls extending from the bottom, and the container body is provided with an opening opposite to the bottom, and the container body is adapted to receive the content container;
[0014] - A detachable dispenser head having a dispenser nozzle for dispensing the liquid, the dispenser head including a pressure - sensitive locking device for releasably locking the dispenser head to a cooperating locking device disposed on the content container;
[0015] Wherein, the pressure - sensitive locking device includes opposing pressure - sensitive members and opposing locking members, the opposing pressure - sensitive members are capable of moving towards each other along opposing first and second directions aligned on a first linear path by the applied pressure, the opposing locking members are capable of moving away from each other along opposing third and fourth directions aligned on a second linear path by the pressure - sensitive members, wherein the first linear path is substantially perpendicular to the second linear path, and the opposing locking members are arranged to engage with a cooperating locking device disposed on the content container.
[0016] In a preferred embodiment of the dispenser, the container body and the dispenser head are made of the same material, which is preferably a polymeric material such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethane, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride or a variant of thermoplastic elastomer. Thus, the container body can be squeezed by the user to press the liquid out of the dispenser via the dispenser head.
[0017] The dispenser forms a closed chamber by the container body and the dispenser head, and the content container can be positioned in the closed chamber. The closed chamber can be pressurized by deforming at least one deformable region on the container body. The user can squeeze only on the container body, which deforms, thereby generating an overpressure around the collapsible content container, and this overpressure squeezes the liquid out of the dispenser head. The content container is preferably provided to be flexible so that it can be deformed. Thus, when one or more walls of the container body are squeezed, a higher pressure is established in the chamber between the flexible content container and the container body. This pressure acts on the flexible content container, and the pressure squeezes the liquid out of the content container through the dispensing head and out of the nozzle in the dispenser head. Thus, if desired, a smaller dose of liquid can be dispensed.
[0018] The dispenser head is provided with a pressure-sensitive locking device - which can be manipulated by the user without any rotation of the dispenser components - ensuring that the locking device can be shifted into and out of locking engagement with a connection portion of a cooperating locking device arranged in the contents container. Further, directly connecting the dispenser head to the contents container has the technical effect that once the components are interconnected, the components are correctly positioned relative to each other. Thereby, a more reliable, secure and operator-friendly dispenser is provided.
[0019] In a possible embodiment of the dispenser, the container body includes a valve, preferably, the container body includes a valve at the bottom of the container body, preferably, the valve is a one-way valve. The valve can be used to balance the pressure in a closed chamber around the collapsible contents container such that after actuation is applied, the pressure corresponds to the ambient pressure.
[0020] In another possible embodiment of the dispenser, when the actuation pressure is released on a deformable area on the container body, a small temporary vacuum can be created in the closed chamber. This small vacuum will cause some of the liquid in the outlet channel to be sucked back, thereby again causing a clean cut of the dispensed liquid stream and preventing excess liquid on the exterior of the container. The small vacuum can be produced by the delay of the one-way valve such that the pressure in the closed chamber only equalizes after the squeezing on the container body has stopped for a period of time, such that a temporary vacuum occurs.
[0021] Arranging the pressure-sensitive members to operate towards each other along a first direction and a second direction aligned on a first linear path, and arranging the opposing locking members to operate away from each other along a third direction and a fourth direction aligned on a second linear path substantially perpendicular to the first linear path by the pressure-sensitive members has the following technical effect: the pressure-sensitive locking device can be simply constructed while still providing a reliable and operator-friendly locking operation from opposite sides of the container.
[0022] In a further embodiment according to the first aspect of the present invention, the opposing pressure-sensitive members and the opposing locking members define an integral structure.
[0023] The preferred technical effect of arranging the pressure-sensitive member and the locking member as an integral element is to provide a simple and effective pressure-sensitive locking device. The integral configuration eliminates the need to use a large number of locking components to provide the locking device and thereby eliminates a relatively high risk of failure.
[0024] In a further embodiment according to the first aspect of the present invention, the opposing pressure-sensitive members or the opposing locking members include a biasing element configured to bias the opposing locking members towards each other.
[0025] The pressure - sensitive locking device further includes a biasing element that biases the locking members towards each other and into engagement with a cooperating locking device disposed in the content container. The biasing element is arranged such that the biasing element can be overcome by a predetermined force corresponding to the desired force required by the user to press the pressure - sensitive members towards each other, thereby causing the locking members to disengage from the cooperating locking device.
[0026] The biasing element ensures that a certain amount of pressure is required to disengage the locking members so that the dispenser head is not accidentally removed from the content container.
[0027] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the dispenser head includes guiding means for guiding the opposing locking members along a third direction and a fourth direction.
[0028] Since the pressure - sensitive locking device operates on a first linear path and the locking members operate on a second linear path that is substantially perpendicular to the first linear path, the guiding means ensures that the opposing locking members are correctly guided into and out of engagement with the cooperating locking device on the content container, thereby eliminating any misalignment.
[0029] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the content container includes an opening for dispensing liquid to a nozzle, and the pressure - sensitive locking device is arranged to surround the opening and engage with the content container around the opening.
[0030] The pressure - sensitive locking device is arranged to surround the opening of the content container, whereby each of the locking members is achieved by the operation of each pressure - sensitive member, thus ensuring a stable locking operation.
[0031] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the pressure - sensitive locking device includes a deformable region between the opposing pressure - sensitive members and the opposing locking members such that the opposing pressure - sensitive members and the opposing locking members can be displaced relative to each other.
[0032] To ensure the correct and uniform transfer of force from the pressure - sensitive members to the locking members, the pressure - sensitive locking device includes a deformable region between the pressure - sensitive members and the locking members such that the pressure - sensitive locking device deforms uniformly during each operation and is thus more reliable.
[0033] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the dispenser includes a content container having a content - holding member for holding liquid and a content - holding cover member for sealing the liquid within the content container.
[0034] In a preferred embodiment, the dispenser includes a contents receptacle for containing the liquid to be dispensed. As previously mentioned, the contents receptacle is replaceable relative to the receptacle body, such that the receptacle body and the dispenser head can be reused several times, and the contents receptacle is replaced when it is empty.
[0035] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the contents receptacle member is collapsible.
[0036] The contents receptacle is preferably provided as a collapsible contents receptacle, which can be replaced when it is empty. In an embodiment, the collapsible contents receptacle is a bag-like member, preferably, the collapsible contents receptacle is made of a foil of a metal or polymer material.
[0037] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the dispenser head includes a protruding element at opposite side portions of the dispenser head, the protruding element being, for example, a protruding ear-like member, and the protruding element is for protruding through the opening of the receptacle body to prevent deformation of the receptacle body in the region of the protruding element.
[0038] The dispenser head includes a protruding element disposed on opposite side portions of the dispenser head, and the protruding element is for protruding through the opening of the receptacle body so as to be close to or abut against the inner side portion of one or more walls of the receptacle body.
[0039] When the dispenser head is connected to the receptacle body, when the side portion of the dispenser having the protruding element is pressed, the protruding element abuts against the inner side portion of the wall of the receptacle body and prevents the receptacle body from being deformed due to extrusion. This prevents the contents receptacle locking device from being disengaged from the corresponding opening in the receptacle body, thereby preventing the contents receptacle from being accidentally removed from the receptacle body.
[0040] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the contents receptacle includes a cutout for engaging with the protruding element.
[0041] Providing a cutout for the contents receptacle results in a compact arrangement and correct alignment of the components relative to each other.
[0042] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the contents receptacle includes a contents receptacle locking device for engaging with the receptacle body, the contents receptacle locking device is oppositely arranged in a first direction and a second direction, and the protruding element is oppositely arranged in a third direction and a fourth direction.
[0043] The protruding element is arranged at the first opposite side portion, such as at the small curvature side portion of the elliptical receiving member, and the locking device for the content receiving member is arranged at the second opposite side portion, such as at the high curvature side portion, which has the following technical effects: when the receiving member body, the content receiving member and the dispenser head are all connected, the protruding element prevents the receiving member body from deforming, so that the locking device for the content receiving member cannot be disengaged, and the content receiving member cannot be accidentally removed.
[0044] It should be noted that although an elliptical shape is described and shown in the drawings, the present invention is not limited thereto. The dispenser can in principle have other shapes, such as square, circular, etc.
[0045] According to another embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the dispenser further includes a dispenser cap for covering the dispenser head. The dispenser cap engages with the opposite pressure-sensitive member and the dispenser cap includes a nozzle engaging portion. When the dispenser cap covers the nozzle of the dispenser head, the nozzle engaging portion engages with the dispenser nozzle to prevent accidental dispensing of the liquid through the nozzle.
[0046] The dispenser further includes a cap that protects the dispenser nozzle when the dispenser is not in use. The cap can be arranged separately, or can be hinged to the receiving member body.
[0047] To fasten the cap in place, the cap engages with the pressure-sensitive member in a snap-fit manner. Since the pressure-sensitive member can be biased inwardly and since the cap is flexible in the first and second directions, the cap can be snapped onto the pressure-sensitive member. Preferably, the cap includes a cooperating element inside that engages with the pressure-sensitive member in a snap-fit manner. The pressure-sensitive member will be only slightly manipulated when engaging with the cap, so that the locking member will not be disengaged from the cooperating locking device on the content receiving member.
[0048] The receiving cap is provided with a nozzle engaging portion at the inner top side portion of the receiving cap. When the dispenser cap is attached, the nozzle engaging position presses against the dispenser nozzle, thereby ensuring that a small amount of retained liquid still present in the dispenser nozzle will not flow out of the dispenser nozzle and into the dispenser cap.
[0049] According to another embodiment, the nozzle engaging portion and the dispenser nozzle have corresponding shapes.
[0050] The nozzle engaging portion has a shape such that the shape of the nozzle engaging portion conforms to the shape of the dispenser nozzle. This ensures that the space between the dispenser nozzle and the dispenser cap is kept minimal, so that even if a small amount of liquid escapes from the dispenser nozzle, the amount of liquid will be very small.
[0051] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the content receiving member cover part includes a first sealing member, and the receiving member body includes a second sealing member, and the second sealing member engages with the first sealing member to establish a pressure-tight chamber between the content receiving member and the receiving member.
[0052] To pressurize the dispenser between the receiving member body and the content receiving member, the content receiving member and the receiving member body are provided with sealing members such that the pressure increases when the receiving member body is squeezed. This ensures that most of the liquid can be dispensed from the content receiving member. The valve described above is used to balance the pressure in the closed chamber around the content receiving member after actuation is applied. Preferably, the valve described above is a one-way valve.
[0053] According to a further embodiment, the dispenser head includes a piercing device for piercing a seal of the content receiving member, such as a foil covering an opening of the content receiving member, so that liquid can be dispensed from the content receiving member.
[0054] The new content receiving member to be inserted into the dispenser has a seal for protecting the liquid before use.
[0055] When the new filled content receiving member is inserted into the receiving member body and the dispenser head is connected, the foil needs to be pierced. Therefore, the dispenser head includes a piercing device that pierces the foil so that liquid can be dispensed from the content receiving member and the dispenser.
[0056] According to a further embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the receiving member body or the dispenser head includes a one-way valve. Preferably, the receiving member body or the dispenser head includes a one-way valve at the bottom.
[0057] The valve is used to balance the pressure in the closed chamber around the collapsible content receiving member and the receiving member body so that after actuation is applied, the pressure corresponds to the ambient pressure. The one-way valve is user-friendly because the user does not need to use his finger to close the exhaust opening.
[0058] According to a second aspect of the present invention, the above objects and advantages are achieved by the following:
[0059] A content receiving member for use in a dispenser according to the first aspect of the present invention, the content receiving member includes a content receiving component for containing liquid and a content receiving cover part for sealing the liquid in the content receiving member. The content receiving member includes a cut and a content receiving member locking device for engaging with the receiving member body and is oppositely arranged in a first direction and a second direction. The cut is oppositely arranged in a third direction and a fourth direction. The content receiving member further includes a cooperative locking device for engaging with the dispenser head. [0067] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings, which show exemplary embodiments of the invention. However, the present invention may be embodied in different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. Instead, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete and will fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art. Throughout the text, like reference numerals indicate like elements. Accordingly, like elements will not be described in detail for each figure.
[0068] Figure 1A Fig. shows a perspective view of the dispenser 10. The shown dispenser 10 shows a possible embodiment according to the present invention.
[0069] The dispenser includes at least a container body 12, a dispenser cap 18, and a dispenser nozzle 14 for dispensing the liquid contained in the container body 12. The dispenser nozzle 14 is directly located inside the container body 12 or, preferably, the dispenser nozzle 14 is located inside the content container 16 ( Figure 1B shown in), and the content container 16 is arranged inside the container body 12 as a separate unit that can be connected to the container body 12.
[0070] In an embodiment of the dispenser, the receptacle body 12, the dispenser cap 18, and the dispenser head 14 are made of the same material, which is preferably a polymeric material such as a variant of polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethane, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, or a thermoplastic elastomer. By using the same type of material to produce most or all of the components of the dispenser, the recycling of the dispenser becomes easier when being processed.
[0071] However, in an alternative embodiment, the receptacle body 12 can be made of a rigid material such as a metallic material such as steel or aluminum. Thus, a durable and long-lasting dispenser can be provided that can be reused several times. In this case, the components of the receptacle body 12 are arranged with compressible regions such as polymeric regions that can be squeezed to dispense the liquid.
[0072] Figure 1B A perspective view of a disassembled dispenser 10 similar to the dispenser shown in Figure 1A is shown.
[0073] The dispenser includes a contents receptacle 16 for storing the liquid to be dispensed, and the contents receptacle 16 can be replaced when it is empty. The contents receptacle 16 includes a contents receiving member 16' preferably formed of a polymer and a contents receiving cap member 16'' integral with the contents receiving member 16' to form a closed chamber for the fluid. The upper end portion of the contents receptacle 16 includes a nozzle having an opening 34 ( Figure 1C shown in Figure 1B ), which is closed by a seal 34' such as aluminum foil or the like to preserve the liquid before the contents receptacle 16 is inserted into the dispenser 10.
[0074] When the contents receptacle 16 is inserted into the dispenser 10 through the receptacle body opening 12' and the dispenser head is connected, a piercing device 42 (see Figure 4A ) pierces the foil, whereby the liquid can be dispensed from the contents receptacle 16. The contents receptacle 16 includes opposite contents receptacle locking means 16''' shown as protrusions for interlocking in a snap-fit manner with opposite corresponding openings in the receptacle body 12 at the receptacle body opening 12'. When the receptacle body 12 is squeezed between opposite sides at the opposite openings, the contents receptacle locking means 16''' disengages from the openings, and the contents receptacle can be removed from the contents housing 12.
[0075] The dispenser head 14, shown as oval, includes a dispenser nozzle 14' for dispensing liquid from the dispenser, and the dispenser head 14 is made of a material such as rigid plastic that is harder than one or more walls of the receptacle body. The dispenser head 14 includes projecting elements 14'' on opposite sides. Only one projecting element 14'' is shown at one of the sides with a small curvature, but it should be understood that another projecting element 14'' is also arranged at the opposite side.
[0076] The projecting element 14'' engages with a corresponding cutout 16''', such that: when the dispenser head is connected to the receptacle body 12, the projecting element 14'' prevents the receptacle body 12 from deforming due to squeezing at the side with a small curvature. This prevents the contents receptacle locking means 16''' from disengaging from the corresponding opening in the receptacle body, and thereby prevents the contents receptacle 16 from being accidentally removed from the receptacle body.
[0077] The dispenser head 14 further includes a pressure - sensitive locking means 20 (see Figure 2 、 Figure 3A and Figure 3B ) arranged internally for interlocking with a cooperating locking means 26 on the contents receptacle.
[0078] The pressure - sensitive locking means 20 includes: a pressure - sensitive member 20' located on each side (the side with a high curvature) of the dispenser head 14 for manipulation by the user; and a locking member 20'' that interlocks with the cooperating locking means 26 by snap - fit and disengages from the cooperating locking means 26 when the pressure - sensitive member 20' is pressed / inwardly manipulated.
[0079] Figure 1C and Figure 1D A perspective view of the disassembled dispenser 10 is shown.
[0080] These figures illustrate the steps required to remove the contents receptacle 16 from the receptacle body 12.
[0081] In Figure 1C , first, the dispenser head 14 is removed from the receptacle body 12 by pressing the opposite pressure - sensitive members 20' towards each other in a first direction 28 and a second direction 28'. Thereby, the locking member 20'' disengages from the cooperating locking means 26, and the dispenser head 14 can be removed.
[0082] As Figure 1DAs shown in and as previously described, when the dispenser head 14 is removed and the protruding element 14” is removed from the incision 16””, by the user pressing the small curvature side of the receptacle body 12 in opposite third and fourth directions 30 and 30', the content receptacle locking device 16”' is disengaged from the opening at the upper end of the receptacle body 12, and the content receptacle 16 can be removed and replaced.
[0083] Figure 2 A perspective view of the disassembled dispenser head 14 is shown.
[0084] The dispenser head 14 is shown as having two parts, namely an upper part and a lower part. The upper part includes the top part of the dispenser head 14 with the dispenser nozzle 14'. The lower part has the protruding element 14”. The upper and lower parts define a chamber in which the pressure-sensitive locking device 20 is arranged. The upper part includes an opening on the high curvature side such that the pressure-sensitive part can protrude from the opening for manipulation by the user.
[0085] The pressure-sensitive locking device 20 also includes a locking part 20” shown for interlocking with a cooperating locking device 26 on the content receptacle 16. To ensure a secure and reliable lock between the dispenser head 14 and the content receptacle 16, the locking part 20” is biased to the locking position by a biasing element 24. This ensures that a minimum required force is needed to remove the dispenser head 14, thus establishing a more reliable lock.
[0086] The lower part of the dispenser head 14 also includes guiding means 32 for guiding the guiding protrusion onto the pressure-sensitive locking part 20. This feature ensures that when the pressure-sensitive part 20' is pressed, the locking part 20” is correctly guided in the third and fourth directions for a secure locking operation.
[0087] Figure 3A and Figure 3B shows a view of a pressure-sensitive locking device 20 similar to the locking device 20 shown in Figure 2 The locking device 20 is preferably provided as an integral piece, for example of plastic, such that (as shown in
[0088] The locking device 20 surrounds the nozzle and the opening 34 of the content receptacle 16, thus achieving a more reliable lock. Figure 2 shown)
[0089] The locking device 20 is provided with a connecting element between the pressure-sensitive part 20' and the locking part 20”. The connecting element has a deformable area 36 such that the locking device 20 can be deformed to enable the locking part to engage and disengage with the cooperating locking device 26 on the content receptacle 16.
[0090] As Figure 3B shown, the pressure - sensitive member 20' is pressed along a first direction 28 and a second direction 28' aligned in a first path 28'''. The locking device 20 is deformed via the deformable region 36, whereby the locking member 20'' moves along a third direction 30 and a fourth direction 30' aligned in a second linear path 30'', and the second linear portion 30'' is preferably substantially perpendicular to the first linear portion 28''. This ensures an effective and secure locking process.
[0091] As shown, as the locking device 20 is deformed, the locking member 20'' moves against the biasing force from the biasing element 24. The force from the biasing element 24 is set such that the locking device 20 can be operated by the user, while the locking member remains engaged with the cooperating locking device 26 on the content receptacle 16 when the pressure - sensitive member is not manipulated.
[0092] Figure 4A A cross - sectional view of the dispenser 10 is shown.
[0093] The dispenser shown corresponds to the dispenser shown in the previous figures. The figure shows that the dispenser head 14 includes a piercing device 42 which, when the dispenser head 14 is connected, penetrates the seal 34' (see Figure 1B ).
[0094] The figure also shows that the content receptacle includes, at the content receptacle cover member 16'', a first sealing member 38 provided as a flange, which engages with a second sealing member 40 provided as a flexible seal, such as a rubber seal, and the second sealing member 40 is connected to the interior of the receptacle body 12 at the receptacle body opening 12'.
[0095] The receptacle cover 18 is provided with a nozzle engaging portion 18' on the inner top side of the receptacle cover 18. When the dispenser cover is attached, the nozzle engaging position presses against the dispenser nozzle 14', thereby ensuring that a small amount of retained liquid still present in the dispenser nozzle 14' does not flow out of the dispenser nozzle 14' and into the dispenser cover 18.
[0096] The nozzle engaging portion has a shape such that the shape of the nozzle engaging portion conforms to the shape of the dispenser nozzle 14'. This ensures that the space between the dispenser nozzle 14' and the dispenser cover is kept to a minimum, such that even if a small amount of liquid escapes from the dispenser nozzle 14, it will be a very small amount of liquid.
[0097] The receiving body 12 further includes a valve 44, which is preferably a check valve. The valve 44 is used to balance the pressure around the content receiving member within the receiving body 12 so that after a force is applied to the dispenser 10 and the force is released again, the pressure corresponds to the ambient pressure. Thereby, a collapsible content receiving member 16 can be arranged, preferably a collapsible content receiving member, wherein the collapsible content receiving member ensures that the maximum amount of liquid is dispensed from the content receiving member 16 so that when the content receiving member 16 is removed from the dispenser 10, a very small amount of liquid remains in the content receiving member 16.
[0098] Figure 4B An enhanced view of the dispenser 10 is shown.
[0099] This figure shows the seal between the content receiving member 16 and the receiving body 12. In the illustrated embodiment, the content receiving member 16 is provided with a first sealing member 38, which is, for example, an encapsulation made of rubber or the like, and the receiving body 12 is provided with a second sealing member, which is provided as an edge portion. Other types of seals can be used.
[0100] The receiving body 12 and the content receiving member form a tight seal through the engagement of the first sealing member and the second sealing member so that a pressure-tight chamber is formed around the content receiving member 16.
[0101] The receiving body 12 includes a check valve 44 located at the bottom, which blocks during the application of pressure by the user to prevent air from leaving the chamber, but allows air to flow into the chamber when the user releases the pressure, and the receiving body 12 returns to its initial state and shape.
