[0015] It's important to understand that the boundaries between the three types of top, middle, and base notes are not strictly defined, and some interpretations place certain ingredients in different categories.

[0017] In addition to the matrix material and fragrance, auxiliary components well-known in the field of bedding manufacturing can be added to the bedding. These include auxiliary binders such as guar gum, xanthan gum, carrageenan gum, and locust bean gum. These can be present in a maximum of 5% by weight of the bedding. Preservatives may also be included. Any preservatives and antimicrobial agents recognized in the art can be used, such as sodium benzoate, persimmon tannin, and enzymes such as preferur. This is then added to an animal bedding base mixture containing all ingredients, with sufficient water added to allow for extrusion. The granules are then heated in an oven, usually at 120°C for 30 minutes, to remove water and produce the finished bedding.

Claims
1. An animal bedding material comprising (a) an animal bedding base and (b) a particulate absorbent matrix in which a fragrance is added, said fragrance being characterized in that (a) the top notes, middle notes and base notes are in weight proportions of 35-80%, 10-40% and 5-25%, respectively; (b) a component with a ClogP value less than 1.5 constitutes up to 3% of the fragrance; and (c) it is substantially free of an aqueous miscible solvent.
2. The animal bedding according to claim 1, wherein the weight proportions of the top notes, middle notes and base notes are 40-70%, 15-35% and 8-20%, more particularly 45-60%, 25-35% and 10-20%, and more particularly 50-60%, 25-30% and 10-15%, respectively.
3. The animal bedding material according to claim 1, wherein at least 50% by weight of the top flavor component has a flash point below 150°C and a vapor pressure above 0.2 μg / L.
4. The animal bedding material according to claim 3, wherein 100% by weight of the top flavor component has a flash point below 150°C and a vapor pressure above 0.2 μg / L.
5. The animal bedding according to claim 1, wherein the weight percentage of the fragrance in the finished bedding is 0.01%-5%, more particularly 0.05-2.5%, and most particularly 0.09-1.5%.
6. A method for preparing animal bedding containing an odor-counteracting fragrance, comprising the following steps: The components are blended, sufficient water is added to allow extrusion, the mixture is extruded and granulated, and then the granules are dried, characterized in that the fragrance is added in the form of a particulate matrix according to claim 1.
