Embodiments of this application relate to support for a dual radio protocol configuration user plane in a radio access network architecture. A method performed by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method includes: receiving a message including data radio bearer type information for a data radio bearer associated with the UE. The data radio bearer type information indicates a first configuration or a second configuration of the dual radio protocol configuration. The method further includes: routing traffic carried on the data radio bearer to the first or second configuration of the dual radio protocol configuration based on the data radio bearer type information.
