AI Technical Summary
Existing gas scrubber-type devices for the combustion or vaporization of inhalable active ingredients in tobacco products are limited in their ability to effectively filter pollutants and improve smoke quality, particularly when using pure water as a filter medium.
A filtration agent composed of 90 wt% distilled water, 5 wt% glycerin (E422), and 5 wt% propylene glycol (E1520) is developed to enhance filtration efficiency and sensory quality of smoke by synergistically combining these components.
The filtration agent provides improved filtration properties and produces a softer, more consistent smoke, preserving natural tobacco flavor while avoiding unwanted added flavors.
Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a filtration agent specifically developed for use in liquid-cooled gas scrubber-type devices for the combustion or vaporization of active ingredients for inhalation of tobacco products or similar substances, in order to filter the smoke during its passage through the gas scrubber, reduce pollutants, and optimize the smoking experience. The invention combines a novel composition of three components that act synergistically to ensure improved smoke quality.
[0002] For the state of the art, reference is made to EP 3 820 313 B1.
[0003] Gas scrubber-type devices for the combustion or vaporization of inhalable active ingredients, which are cooled by liquids, typically use pure water (H₂O) as a filter medium. While this removes particles from the flue gases, its ability to reduce pollutants and soften the smoke is limited. Other approaches, such as the addition of flavorings or alternative liquids, often focus on taste rather than filtration efficiency. Mixtures with glycerin (E422) or propylene glycol (E1520) are known in the tobacco industry, but not as a specific filter medium for gas scrubber-type devices for the combustion or vaporization of inhalable active ingredients. Therefore, there is a need for a technical solution in the form of a filtering agent that improves both filtration and the sensory quality of the smoke. Description of the invention
[0004] The invention is a filtration agent consisting of a mixture of 90 wt% distilled water, 5 wt% glycerin (E422) and 5 wt% propylene glycol (E1520). This composition was developed to achieve an optimal balance between filtration and smoke smoothness.
[0005] Distilled H2O serves as the main component for filtration by binding suspended solids, tar and water-soluble pollutants from the smoke.
[0006] Glycerin (E422) slightly increases the viscosity of the mixture, improves particle retention and provides a more pleasant smoking experience.
[0007] Propylene glycol (E1520) supports filtration due to its hygroscopic properties and contributes to the production of a consistent, mild smoke. It acts synergistically with glycerin (E422) regarding the filtration effect of the mixture.
[0008] The product is manufactured by thoroughly mixing the three components in a clean container under controlled conditions. The resulting liquid is clear, stable, non-toxic, and specifically suitable for use in gas scrubber-cooled devices for the combustion or vaporization of active ingredients for inhalation. Advantages of the invention
[0009] Improved filtration properties compared to pure H2O through the combination of distilled H2O, glycerin (E422) and propylene glycol (E1520).
[0010] It produces a softer and more consistent smoke, making the smoking experience more enjoyable.
[0011] Preservation of the natural tobacco flavor without unwanted added flavors.
