Abstract

A vehicle door opening system for a vehicle door comprises a door handle assembly, a door locking assembly, a locking actuation cable, and an actuator. The door handle assembly includes a door handle and a counterweight designed to rotate during operation of the door handle assembly. The door locking assembly includes a lock release lever that is movable between (i) an engaged state, in which the lock release lever engages with the vehicle door to secure the vehicle door in a closed position, and (ii) a non-engaged state, in which the lock release lever disengages from the vehicle door to allow the vehicle door to move from the closed to an open position.
