Abstract
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to an adjustable eye cleaning device capable of performing eye cleaning in a safe manner, thereby reducing the risk of various eye diseases. Additionally, the proposed device is capable of monitoring the ambient temperature and, accordingly, maintaining an optimal water temperature to enable effective eye cleaning. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Eye cleansing is essential for maintaining eye health and comfort, as well as for overall well-being. The eyes are constantly exposed to environmental pollutants, dust, allergens, and other irritants that accumulate on the surface of the eye and around the eyelids. Regular eye cleansing helps remove these particles to reduce the risk of irritation, redness, and infection. Additionally, eye cleansing helps prevent the accumulation of excess oil, debris, and bacteria along the eyelids and eyelashes, which lead to various eye diseases. Gently cleansing the eyelids and eyelashes helps prevent these conditions and maintain optimal eye hygiene. In addition, for contact lens wearers, proper eye cleaning before inserting or removing lenses is crucial to avoid discomfort, infection, and other illnesses. This helps ensure clear vision and comfort throughout the day. Regular eye cleaning promotes a feeling of refreshment and relaxation and relieves dryness, itching, and fatigue that occur with prolonged screen work, in dry or dusty environments, or with allergies.
[0003] Conventional methods of cleaning the eyes involve rinsing the eyes with water, saline solution, or commercially available eye drops, or wiping the eyelids and eyelashes with a clean tissue or cotton ball. Rinsing the eyes with water or saline solution does not effectively remove stubborn dirt or irritants that cause persistent discomfort or potential damage to the delicate eye tissue. Furthermore, using tap water to rinse the eyes introduces harmful bacteria or contaminants that increase the risk of eye infections. Likewise, commercially available eye drops or solutions contain preservatives or chemicals that, instead of relieving eye discomfort, may cause irritation or allergic reactions in some people. In addition, wiping the eyelids and eyelashes with a tissue or cotton ball can indirectly introduce bacteria or irritants into the eyes, especially if the cleaning material is not properly disinfected. This increases the risk of eye infections or inflammation.
[0004] CN116966083A discloses an invention that provides a cleaning device for eye care and a method of using the same, related to the technical field of eye care. The device includes a shell, the outer side wall of the shell being in sliding fit with a cover body, the cover body being able to slide smoothly in a sliding track by a sliding block, the inner side wall of the shell being provided with two connectors, the connectors being able to be conveniently installed on the inner side wall of the shell, and the shell being convenient to use. A plurality of cleaning heads are evenly arranged at one end of the connector, allowing the cleaning heads to be conveniently arranged at one end of the connector, and the two ends of the housing are elastically and slidably connected with bolts.According to the cleaning device, the cleaning head is arranged so that the cleaning head is attached to the eye position of a patient under the action of the bowl, the problem that the liquid injection flow rate of the cleaning device is difficult to adjust is solved, and the situation that, in the liquid injection cleaning process, pain is caused due to excessive speed or foreign matter is difficult to flush away due to excessive speed is reduced; and eye care and cleaning effects are improved. While CN'083 discloses a method for performing eye cleaning, the cited invention lacks the ability to determine the ambient temperature and accordingly maintain an optimal water temperature to enable effective eye cleaning.
[0005] CN209827527U discloses an invention in which the cleaning patch comprises a patch body, a left eye cleaning part, and a right eye cleaning part, wherein the left eye cleaning part and the right eye cleaning part have the same structure and correspond in position to the eyes of a human body. The patch comprises an outer side surface and an inner side surface provided with an adhesive layer; the left eye cleaning part comprises a frame body disposed on the patch; an eye washing cavity is formed in one end of the frame body positioned on the outer side surface of the patch; a water-absorbing layer adapted in shape to the frame body is disposed at one end of the frame body positioned on the inner side surface of the patch.A fluid inlet pipe communicating with the eyewash cavity is arranged at the top of the eyewash cavity; a drain pipe communicating with the eyewash cavity is arranged at the bottom of the frame body. The device is simple in structure and convenient to use. The patch can be applied to the user's skin. Eyeglasses can be cleaned by arranging the left and right eyewash parts. Used eyewash fluid can be effectively collected, and the risk of cross-infection caused by improper handling is avoided. CN'527 does disclose a method for cleaning the eyes using washing fluid. However, the cited invention lacks monitoring of the user's facial contours and face size to properly adjust the eyewash.
[0006] Conventionally, many devices are available on the market that assist the user in proper eye cleansing. However, the cited invention lacks the ability to monitor the user's facial contours and dimensions to properly adjust for eye cleansing. Furthermore, these devices are unable to determine the ambient temperature and, accordingly, maintain an optimal water temperature to enable effective eye cleansing.
[0007] To overcome the above-mentioned disadvantages, there is a need in the art to develop a device capable of safely performing the eye cleaning process to eliminate the risk of various diseases. Furthermore, the device is capable of spraying the user's eyes and eyelids to thoroughly clean the eyes, thereby reducing the risk of eye injury. SUBJECT OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, the present description should be considered as illustrative and not restrictive. While the invention is susceptible to various modifications and alternative constructions, it should be understood that there is no intention to limit the invention to the specific form disclosed, but, on the contrary, the invention is intended to cover all modifications, alternative constructions, and equivalents falling within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claims.
[0020] In any embodiment described herein, the open-ended terms “comprising,” “comprises,” and the like (which are synonymous with “including,” “with,” and “characterized by”) may be replaced by the respective partially closed terms “consisting essentially of,” “consists essentially of,” and the like, or the respective closed terms “consisting of,” “consists of,” and the like.
[0021] As used herein, the singular forms “a,” “an,” and “the” refer to both the singular and the plural unless it is expressly stated that only the singular is meant.
[0022] The present invention relates to an adjustable eye cleaning device that allows a user to perform safe eye cleaning. Furthermore, the device is also capable of monitoring the facial contours and dimensions of the user's face to properly adjust it for performing eye cleaning, along with determining the ambient temperature for smooth execution of the cleaning process.
[0023] With reference to the Fig. 1 and Fig.Figure 2 is an isometric view of an adjustable eye cleaning device and an enlarged view of a flap wave generator connected to the device, comprising a frame 101 having a pair of hollow bodies 102 designed to be worn by a user over the eyes, which are attached by means of a telescoping rod 103, a pair of support rods 104 for hooking the frame 101 behind the user's ears, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 105 installed on the frame 101, an electronically controlled nozzle 106 connected to a chamber 107 configured on each of the bodies 102, and a flap wave generator 108 integrated with each of the bodies 102.
[0024] The device disclosed herein comprises a frame 101 consisting of a pair of hollow bodies 102 designed to be worn by a user over the eyes. The frame 101 is lightweight and of a compatible nature so that the user can conveniently fit the frame 101 over the user's eyes. The pair of hollow bodies 102 are attached to a pair of support rods 104 by means of a telescopic rod 103 for hooking the frame 101 behind the user's ears to keep the frame 101 securely in place. The outer edges of each of the bodies 102 are made with a padded fabric to provide comfort to the user.
[0025] The telescopic rod 103 is driven by a pneumatic assembly comprising a pneumatic cylinder, an air compressor, an electronic valve, a cylinder, and a piston. The valve is an electronic valve that allows compressed air from the compressor to enter and exit. Furthermore, the valve opens, allowing compressed air to enter the cylinder, increasing the cylinder's air pressure. The piston is connected to the cylinder, and increasing the air pressure causes the piston to extend. To retract the piston, the air is released from the cylinder into the air compressor via the valve. This ensures the required extension / retraction of the rod 103 for secure adjustment of the frame 101.
[0026] In addition, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 105, installed on the frame 101, captures multiple images of the surrounding environment to detect the user's facial contours and dimensions. The artificial intelligence (AI)-based imaging unit 105 refers to a camera that incorporates AI protocols to enhance its functionality and capabilities. The AI protocols are used to process and analyze the images or videos captured by the camera, allowing the camera to perform various tasks beyond traditional image capture. The AI analysis is performed locally on the camera itself, and real-time processing on the camera enables immediate reactions and faster decision-making. The camera captures images or videos using specialized lenses designed to capture high-quality footage.
[0027] The acquired data is preprocessed to improve its quality and prepare it for analysis by artificial intelligence (AI). This preprocessing includes tasks such as noise reduction, image stabilization, or color correction. The processed data is fed into AI protocols for analysis, which use machine learning techniques, such as deep learning neural networks, to extract meaningful information from the visual data. This information is then passed to a built-in microcontroller equipped with the instructions necessary to control the operation of various components connected to the proposed device.
[0028] Based on the received data, the microcontroller instructs the rod 103 to extend / retract to adjust the gap between the bodies 102 with respect to the positioning of the bodies 102 in front of the user's eyes. Furthermore, the microcontroller controls an electronically controlled nozzle 106 connected to a chamber 107 configured on each of the bodies 102 and filled with water to deliver an optimal amount of water into each of the bodies 102.
[0029] The electronically controlled nozzle 106 consists of an upper body that holds all the components inside the nozzle 106, including a permanent magnet equipped with a shaft, a thread, a needle, and a seat to perform the predetermined function of opening and closing the nozzle 106 in accordance with the user's instructions. A stepper motor equipped with copper coils is used in the electronic nozzle 106 to ensure smooth movement within the nozzle 106 when dispensing water into the bodies 102. The nozzle 106 also includes a holder that holds all components except the motor and coil to ensure the longevity of the motor. It is connected to the microcontroller to dispense the required amount of water into each of the bodies 102.
[0030] At the same time, the microcontroller controls a flap wave generator 108 integrated into each of the bodies 102 to generate water waves of varying heights to spray the user's eyes with water. Furthermore, a level sensor is arranged in the chamber 107 to detect the level of the water stored in the chamber 107. The level sensor consists of a measuring cell that measures the pressure on the sensor's measuring cell when the sensor is placed at a certain depth in the water. The measured pressure is converted into an electrical pulse and transmitted to the microcontroller. The microcontroller evaluates the water level by analyzing the measured pressure value, the preset density, and the gravity value. A filter is installed in the device's wastewater reservoir to remove metallic and non-metallic objects from the wastewater. The metallic and non-metallic objects are stored in the waste chamber.
[0031] If the detected water level falls below a threshold, the microcontroller activates a speaker, which emits a warning message to alert the user that chamber 107 needs to be refilled with water. The speaker consists of an array of magnets. One of the magnets is a permanent magnet, and another is an electromagnet, consisting of a conductive coil connected to the speaker's diaphragm. Whenever an electric current flows through the coil, the electromagnet is either attracted to the permanent magnets or repelled by the electromagnet. This back-and-forth motion causes the diaphragm to vibrate, resulting in the generation of the sound wave heard by the user.
[0032] Additionally, a pressure sensor is embedded in each of the bodies 102 to detect the strength of the pressure the water exerts on the user's eyes and eyelids during spraying. The pressure sensor consists of a measuring coil that measures the voltage generated by the applied pressure and converts the measured voltage into an electrical pulse. The microcontroller processes the electrical pulse to determine the amplitude of the pulse and thus determine the pressure the water exerts on the user's eyes and eyelids during spraying.
[0033] If the detected pressure exceeds a threshold, the microcontroller regulates the control of the wave generator 108 to reduce the speed of the waves so that the user's eyes can be cleaned comfortably without causing injury. Furthermore, a temperature sensor for detecting the ambient temperature is arranged in the chamber 107. The temperature sensor consists of a conductive sensor element. When the temperature changes, the resistance of the conductive element changes, resulting in a fluctuation in the voltage flow across the sensor element. The voltage fluctuation causes a current to flow across the sensor element, which is detected by the microcontroller in the form of an electrical pulse. The microcontroller also evaluates the amplitude of the electrical pulse to determine the ambient temperature.
[0034] After determining the ambient temperature, the microcontroller controls a Peltier unit installed in chamber 107 to maintain an optimal water temperature for effective eye cleansing. The Peltier unit used here is based on the Peltier effect, which states that when an electric current is maintained in a circuit made up of two dissimilar conductors, one junction cools and the other heats. The Peltier effect refers to the generation or absorption of heat at the junction of two metals when a current passes through it. Based on the temperature specified by the user, the Peltier unit generates the heating / cooling effect to maintain the ambient temperature specified by the user.
[0035] A sensor module equipped with both a dust detection sensor and a position sensor detects the dust content in the user's eyes and the position of the user's eyes. The dust sensor used here uses an optical sensing method to detect dust. The dust sensor consists of a photosensor and an infrared light-emitting diode (IR LED). The IR LED emits IR rays toward the eyes, and the photosensor receives the IR LED rays reflected from the surface of the eyes. When dust accumulates in the eyes, a deviation in the reflection of the IR rays occurs. The deviation in the reflected rays is detected by a receiver, which sends the detected data to the microcontroller. The position sensor mentioned here also works by monitoring the orientation or movement of the user's eyes.Once the position sensor determines the position of the user's eyes, it sends this information to the microcontroller. The microcontroller then uses this data to coordinate the activation of the wave generator and ensure effective dust removal from the eyes.
[0036] Finally, a battery (not shown in the figure) is integrated into the device to supply a continuous DC voltage to the components such as motors, microcontrollers, and various other components connected to the device. The battery used in the invention is preferably a lithium-ion battery, which can be recharged after discharge to ensure the proper functioning of the components.
[0037] The present invention works best in the following manner, where the frame 101 is constructed with a pair of hollow bodies 102, as disclosed in the proposed invention, with the telescopic rod 103 between the two bodies 102. Next, the frame 101 is hooked behind the ears with the pair of support rods 104 to secure the frame 101, and the artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 105 takes multiple images to capture the user's facial contours and dimensions. After determining the dimensions, the rod 103 extends / retracts to position the bodies 102 in front of the user's eyes, and the electronically controlled nozzle 106 discharges an optimal amount of water from the chamber 107 into each of the bodies 102. Synchronously, the flap wave generator 108 generates water waves of varying heights to spray the user's eyes with water. In addition, the pressure sensor determines the pressure the water exerts on the user's eyes and eyelids during spraying. The temperature sensor detects the ambient temperature and, with the help of the Peltier units, ensures the optimal temperature. Furthermore, a level sensor detects the level of water stored in chamber 107. If the water level drops, the speaker generates an audible notification to refill chamber 107 with water.
[0038] Although the scope of the invention has been described herein with limited reference to specific embodiments, this description is not intended to be limiting. Various modifications to the disclosed embodiments, as well as alternative embodiments of the invention, will become apparent to those skilled in the art from the description of the invention.
