Description

[0001] A tracheostomy tube is a medical device used to securely place a tracheostomy tube in the neck opening and ensure safe breathing.

[0002] Conventional bands consist of two narrow straps. These are attached to the two slots of the cannula. The cannula is then inserted, the straps are placed around the neck, and closed with a Velcro fastener.

[0003] Using these bands isn't particularly beneficial, nor do they offer a satisfactory appearance for the user. To change or clean the cannula, the system is removed from the neck, the bands are removed, and the cannula is rinsed under running water. Then the bands are reattached to the cannula and placed around the neck. If this change has to be made unexpectedly while out and about, it's very inconvenient.

[0004] My invention is an ergonomically smooth-fitting decorative bandage that offers a stylish yet unobtrusive way to use the necessary aid and enhances the user's self-confidence. Changing the cannula is easier than with conventional bandages.

[0005] The ergonomically designed collar has a central hole. This can be attached either with an eyelet ( Fig. ) or a buttonhole stitch ( Fig. ). Two snap fasteners are placed at each end.

[0006] Application is simple. The cannula is placed in the neck opening, the cloth is wrapped around the neck, and the loop is placed over the cannula. Then the filter is inserted.

[0007] When cleaning or changing the cannula, the filter is removed, the cloth is removed from the cannula, and the cannula is removed. The cloth remains at the neck for the time being. Then the clean cannula is reinserted, the loop is slipped over the cannula, and the filter is inserted. The change is quick and unobtrusive.

[0008] When using elastic materials, the cannula has some wiggle room. This has the advantage that the cannula is not placed so rigidly in the trachea, which would otherwise trigger a cough due to friction, but rather adapts to movement. The neck width can be easily adjusted using the snap fasteners. The tracheostomy tube collar is also suitable for use with base plates.
