Description
TECHNICAL AREA
[0001] The present invention relates to a stick for use as sports equipment, in particular as a Nordic walking stick, a buffer for such a Nordic walking stick, and associated assembly and conversion methods. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] A variety of Nordic walking poles are known from the prior art. Due to the wear and tear of the rubber-elastic buffers, several variants of poles with replaceable buffers already exist, such as in DE 20 2007 013 027 U1, in which the buffer is attached to the lowest pole section by means of a ball-bearing retainer, or in DE 103 40 135 A1, which discloses a screw connection or snap-fit connection.
[0003] Furthermore, there is a need for walking sticks that have an extendable tip to adapt the stick to changing terrain.
[0004] From WO 2008 / 037098, a Nordic walking pole is known which comprises a pole body with a tip and a buffer at its lower end. The buffer is mounted so as to be displaceably slidable in an axial direction relative to the pole body. The buffer can be fixed in at least two axially different positions relative to the pole body by means of a positive locking connection. The tip and / or the lowest section of the pole body are arranged to pass through a central opening in the buffer, and the buffer can be locked in this central opening relative to the pole body in an axial direction. WO 2011 / 128231 A1 discloses a buffer that is height-adjustable by means of a locking lever and can conceal the tip when not in use.WO 2018 / 007135 describes a Nordic walking pole with a shaft at the lower end of which an attachment is provided. A buffer made of rubber-elastic material is detachably attached to this attachment via a bayonet fitting. The buffer according to the invention has a hard material insert in a central recess. This insert is attached to the attachment to connect the buffer to the pole.
[0005] In DE 10 2010 022 042 A1 and EP 1 814 419, a replaceable rubber buffer in connection with an extendable tip body is disclosed. In both cases, however, the rubber buffer is simply placed axially onto the lower end of an attachment by friction fit at the end of the rod.
[0006] US 5301704 discloses a walking stick with an enlarged foot section featuring a convexly curved underside that acts as a small rocker. One or two rows of spikes extend downward from the curved surface to penetrate and grip icy surfaces. An elastic elastomer pad can be attached to the curved underside of the foot section to adapt the stick for use on normal walking surfaces such as carpets, hard floors, and outdoor sidewalks. The pad is provided with a series of sockets that fit onto the spikes to hold the pad to the foot section. The arched surface contour of the foot section is advantageous in that it allows the spikes or the elastic pad to maintain contact throughout the walking motion. While the person uses the stick to partially support their own weight during forward body movement, maintaining a non-slip, oscillating contact with the walking surface. CN210382930U discloses a telescopic walking stick tip. The tip consists of a stick tip body, a sleeve, and a sole. The sole is clamped to the lower end of the sleeve; the stick tip main body is positioned inside the sleeve; two mounting parts are arranged on one side of the upper part of the sleeve; a sliding piece is rotatably arranged between the mounting parts by means of a pin; the lower end of the sliding piece is formed by a cam structure created by cutting a plane from a cylindrical object. The cam structure at the lower end of the plunger can rotate within the sleeve; an arc-shaped groove aligning with the plunger is formed in one side of the cane tip main body; a metal cane tip is firmly connected to the lower section of the cane tip main body, the lower end of the metal cane tip extends towards the outside of the sole of the foot; a positioning groove is formed in the side surface of the metal cane tip, the positioning groove has a strip-like structure; a second pin is located at the bottom of the sleeve and the second pin penetrates through the positioning groove. The telescopic cane has the advantage that only the tip needs to be extended and retracted for different road surfaces, and the sole does not need to be removed. PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION
[0007] A disadvantage of conventional trekking poles is the unreliable connection between the replaceable ferrule and the pole. Models with a purely friction-based connection have the drawback that the ferrule can twist at the end of the pole, which is particularly problematic with asymmetrical ferrules, as a specific rotational position relative to the handle is necessary for proper use. Furthermore, the ferrules in such systems cannot be replaced without tools. Another disadvantage is that the replaceable ferrule areas typically contain a significant amount of material, making them ecologically questionable because replacing the ferrule involves removing too much material that would otherwise be perfectly functional.
[0008] The subject matter of the present invention is accordingly a buffer according to claim 1 or a stock with such a buffer and a method for assembling, renewing or modifying such a buffer.
[0009] Such a buffer for a stick, in particular for a trekking, walking or Nordic walking stick, has at its upper end means for detachable attachment to a stick shaft during intended use, in particular in the form of a recess, and at its lower end a rolling surface, wherein the rolling surface is preferably essentially flat or only slightly convexly curved in a transverse direction with respect to the rolling motion, but is convexly curved in a longitudinal direction perpendicular to this such that it forms a rolling surface during the push-off movement of the user of the stick in a walking direction with the stick on a surface.
[0010] According to the invention, such a buffer is now designed in three parts in the axial direction. There is an upper buffer section, which consists of a rubber-elastic material, i.e., is formed exclusively from such a material, and which in particular provides the frictional connection intended for attachment to the lower end of the pipe via the corresponding recess.
[0011] Furthermore, there is a buffer sole forming the rolling surface, also made of a rubber-elastic material, in which the rolling surface provides the cushioning and static friction on the ground that is important for use.
[0012] In the axial direction, according to the invention, there is an intermediate piece that is not made of a rubber-elastic material, but of a hard material, typically a thermoplastic polymer that can be processed using an injection molding process. Possible materials include, for example, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyoxymethylene (POM), polycarbonate (PC), polyamide (PA), polyurethane (PU), or mixtures thereof, or similar materials that may be reinforced with glass fibers and / or carbon fibers.
[0013] In order to allow the buffer base to be replaced while keeping the remaining components securely together, the intermediate piece on the upper buffer section is permanently attached during normal use, and the buffer base is detachably and replaceably attached to the intermediate piece.
[0014] Crucially, the cushioning sole is made of a rubber-elastic material and has no additional, permanently attached inserts or similar components made of a hard material, such as the material used for the intermediate piece. This allows the cushioning sole to be easily replaced with minimal material exchange and makes it easy to recycle.
[0015] Furthermore, the buffer sole can have a passage opening for the tip of the stick, but the buffer sole can also preferably be free of such a passage opening for the tip of the stick, i.e. it is preferably not a buffer where it is possible to switch between a position with a rolling surface and a position with an exposed stick tip.
[0016] In other words, it is a buffer that can be detachably attached to a stick with a tip, typically a carbide tip. A positive fit and / or frictional fit is provided by the receiving opening in the upper buffer section, which is made of a rubber-elastic material. This may be combined with stop surfaces in an additional opening in the intermediate piece (see below) for the stick tip. Furthermore, the buffer base can be replaced without tools. Between these two elements, there is only a single intermediate piece made of a hard material, which provides the interface for replacing the buffer base while securely attaching it to the upper buffer section. This intermediate piece may also provide controlled storage of the stick tip in a blind hole.
[0017] A first preferred embodiment of this buffer is characterized in that the rubber-elastic material is a vulcanized natural and / or synthetic rubber, particularly preferably with a hardness of 20 to 80 Shore A, more preferably of 50 to 70 Shore A, and more preferably in the range of 59 to 62 Shore A. Suitable materials include, in particular, diene rubbers, or especially systems such as TPE including TPU or, above all, NBR (butadiene acrylonitrile rubber), EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber), SBR (styrene butadiene rubber), butyl rubber, isoprene rubber (IR), chloroprene rubber (CR), natural rubber (NR), elastic silicones, or a combination or mixture thereof.
[0018] In other words, the buffer base and upper buffer section are made entirely of a rubber-elastic plastic material, such as materials commonly used in tire manufacturing, like vulcanized synthetic rubbers. These elements can be manufactured using a single molding process. The buffer base and upper buffer section can be made of the same or different rubber-elastic materials or material blends.
[0019] The upper buffer section is typically connected to the intermediate piece by an adhesive bond, but it is also possible to manufacture these two elements together in a two-component injection molding process.
[0020] Preferably, the rolling surface is asymmetrically designed, being raised at the front end (in the direction of travel) and forming a point at the rear end (in the direction of travel). Preferably, especially for Nordic walking, the rolling surface is essentially flat or only slightly convexly curved in a transverse direction with respect to the rolling motion (possibly with trough-shaped indentations or depressions, or with a profile), but convexly curved in a longitudinal direction perpendicular to this, such that it forms a rolling surface during the push-off movement of the pole against a surface.
[0021] Alternatively, especially for hiking pads, the rolling surface can be symmetrical, preferably not having a completely flat lower surface, but rather being convexly curved in the direction of travel and perpendicular to it, usually with a profile.
[0022] Preferably, the buffer base can be slid onto the intermediate piece in the direction of travel without rotation, preferably spanned along one direction in the plane by the axial and longitudinal directions, forming a positive and / or force-fit connection. Additional separate fastening elements such as (transverse) pins or screws can be used, but preferably no further separate fastening elements are used, in particular no (transverse) pins or screws for fastening or similar purposes.
[0023] The buffer base preferably has a fastening rib or groove on its side facing the intermediate piece for attachment to the intermediate piece, and the intermediate piece has a corresponding fastening groove or rib on its side facing the buffer base. These elements preferably run in the direction of travel or transversely thereto. The fastening rib or groove of the buffer base and the corresponding fastening groove or rib of the intermediate piece are preferably designed as longitudinal profiles, e.g., as dovetail profiles (trapezoidal grooves with a wider opening as the groove bottom) or fir-tree profiles, and extend along a plane spanned by the axial and longitudinal directions, forming a positive-locking and / or force-locking connection.
[0024] The buffer sole is pushed onto the intermediate piece in the direction of travel (optionally with a vertical inclination) until it reaches a stop position, the stop position preferably being defined by a rear stop surface on the intermediate piece and a front stop surface on the buffer sole. These stop surfaces preferably run essentially perpendicular to the direction in which the buffer sole is pushed on.
[0025] A releasable positive-lock connection is preferably provided between the buffer base and the intermediate piece for securing the buffer, preventing it from leaving the stop position without applying specific force. This connection is preferably provided solely by the mutual engagement of material from the intermediate piece and the buffer base, preferably in the form of locking elements on the intermediate piece and the buffer base.
[0026] The surface of the intermediate piece preferably forms the outer surface of the buffer in an axial circumferential section of the buffer.
[0027] The intermediate piece preferably has a fastening section that projects at least partially into the inner side of the upper buffer section. This fastening section preferably has a cylindrical outer surface, which is further preferably closed off by an upper contact surface for a lower contact surface of the upper buffer section. This fastening section allows the receiving opening for the lower end and tip of the cane to be designed for optimal fastening. The receiving opening is formed in the upper area by the rubber-elastic material of the upper buffer section, and in the lower area by the hard material of the intermediate piece, thus ensuring a secure fit under axial load.
[0028] This fastening section can include an upwardly open recess that extends the recess in the upper buffer section for the pole tube. Preferably, this recess can have at least one internal contour for controlled, preferably rotationally secured, attachment to a pole tip geometry. Preferably, two different such internal contours can be provided to accommodate different pole tips. Typically, there is one internal contour for a symmetrical pole tip, such as those typically found on trekking poles or hiking poles, and another internal contour for an asymmetrical pole tip, such as those typically found on Nordic walking poles or cross-country ski poles.
[0029] Typically, the buffer sole is pushed onto the intermediate piece in one direction (in the direction of travel) until it reaches a stop, preferably at an angle of 30-85°, more preferably 45-75°, to the axial direction. Upon reaching the stop, a releasable, positive-locking connection is preferably established solely by the engagement of the contours of the intermediate piece and the buffer sole. As already mentioned, additional fastening means such as cross pins, screws, or the like are preferably omitted. Preferably, the recess for receiving the tip of the stick in the upper buffer section has a profile and / or coating on its inner surface, which facilitates removal of the buffer from the stick while still providing sufficient retention for use. The profile preferably consists of grooves and / or slots extending longitudinally in the direction of the stick.Furthermore, the present invention relates to a trekking, walking or Nordic walking stick with a buffer as described above.
[0030] The present invention further relates to a buffer sole for a buffer as described above. The buffer sole consists of a rubber-elastic material and can have the further structural features relating to the buffer sole as described earlier in connection with the exemplary embodiments of the complete buffer.
[0031] The buffer base is designed so that it can be slid onto the intermediate piece in the direction of travel without rotation, spanned along one direction in the plane by the axial and longitudinal directions, forming a positive and / or force-fit connection. Additional separate fastening elements such as (cross)pins or screws can be used, but preferably no further separate fastening elements are used, in particular no (cross)pins or screws for fastening or similar purposes.
[0032] The buffer base preferably has a fastening rib or groove on its side facing the intermediate piece for attachment to the intermediate piece, and the intermediate piece has a corresponding fastening groove or rib on its side facing the buffer base. These elements preferably extend in the direction of travel or transversely thereto. The fastening rib or groove of the buffer base and the corresponding fastening groove or rib of the intermediate piece are preferably designed as longitudinal profiles, e.g., as dovetail profiles (trapezoidal grooves with a wider opening as the groove bottom) or fir-tree profiles, and extend along a plane spanned by the axial direction and the longitudinal direction (i.e., the direction of travel), forming a positive-locking and / or force-locking connection.
[0033] The buffer sole is designed so that it can be pushed onto the intermediate piece in the direction of travel (optionally with a vertical inclination) until it reaches a stop position, the stop position preferably being defined by a rear stop surface on the intermediate piece and a front stop surface on the buffer sole. These stop surfaces preferably run essentially perpendicular to the direction in which the buffer sole is pushed on.
[0034] A releasable positive-locking connection is preferably provided between the buffer sole and the intermediate piece for securing the connection and preventing the stop position from being abandoned without the application of specific force. This connection is preferably provided solely by the mutual engagement of material from the intermediate piece and the buffer sole, preferably in the form of locking elements on the intermediate piece and the buffer sole, these locking elements preferably extending in a direction perpendicular to the direction of travel and perpendicular to the shaft axis.
[0035] Preferably, the buffer sole has an upwardly directed, widening comb designed to engage in a corresponding undercut groove in the intermediate piece. On either side of this comb are recessed contact surfaces that terminate at their lower end in an upwardly directed shoulder, which serves as a stop and is preferably the same height as the comb. A positive-locking locking contour is preferably provided on or at this shoulder, preferably extending in a direction perpendicular to the direction of travel and perpendicular to the shaft axis, e.g., as an upwardly directed transverse comb (or groove) that engages in a groove (or comb) in the intermediate piece in a locking manner in the sliding direction.
[0036] Finally, the present invention relates to a method for assembling, renewing or modifying a buffer as described above, optionally on a pole as described above, characterized in that a buffer base is pushed onto and attached to the intermediate piece attached to the upper buffer section, optionally after removal of a previously attached buffer base that is either worn or differs in material and / or structure.
[0037] Further embodiments are specified in the dependent claims. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EXECUTION FORMS
[0039] In the Figs. 1-5 An exemplary embodiment of a buffer 3 is shown.
[0040] Out of Fig. 1It becomes apparent how the stock 1 has the buffer 3 at the lowest pipe section 2. The buffer has an upper buffer section 4, which borders the lowest pipe section 2, and a buffer base 5, which provides a rolling surface 10 during use. There is an intermediate piece 6 between them.
[0041] The upper buffer section 4 and the buffer base 5 are made of a rubber-elastic material, while the intermediate section 6 is made of a hard material. In this embodiment, the hard material is a thermoplastic material, namely polyolefin such as PP, PE, or polyamide, POM.
[0042] At its upper end, the upper buffer section 4 has a recess 7 in which the lowermost pipe section 2 with the tip of the rod is received. Due to the rubber-elastic material and the contact surfaces between the inner surface of the recess, here with longitudinal ribs 8, and the outer surface of the pipe section 2, there is a good frictional connection between the buffer and the rod.
[0043] The entire buffer 3 is designed asymmetrically. In one direction of travel 11, the rolling surface 10 is raised further at the front end 42 (37) than at the rear end 43 (38), which forms a point. This creates a convex, substantially curved rolling surface 10 in a plane spanned by the axial direction 41 and the direction of travel 11, i.e., in the longitudinal direction 40, which preferably has a profile 9 as shown here. In a transverse direction 39, this buffer is essentially straight or only slightly convex.
[0044] The upper buffer section 4 has an exposed outer surface 12, and the intermediate section 6 also has an exposed outer surface 13. These surfaces 12 and 13 merge into one another and form the upper, firmly connected part of the buffer. In other words, buffer section 4 and intermediate section 6 are firmly connected and cannot be separated from each other during intended use.
[0045] If, for example, the buffer section 4 is manufactured using a primary forming process and the intermediate piece 6 using an injection molding process, these two elements are joined together by an adhesive bond. However, it is also possible and preferred to manufacture both elements in a single step using a two-component injection molding process.
[0046] The buffer base 5 also has an outer surface 14, which transitions smoothly into the outer surface 13 of the intermediate piece, all around, since the outer surface 13 of the intermediate piece forms an entire axial section of the buffer 3 all around.
[0047] As mentioned, the buffer base 5 is detachably attached to the upper part, in particular to the intermediate piece 6, allowing for slidable attachment. For this purpose, the buffer base has a fastening rib 15 in the form of a longitudinal profile, in this case a dovetail profile. This fastening rib 15 has two lateral, upwardly widening side surfaces 17 and a top surface 16. Furthermore, there is a bearing surface 33 on the buffer base 5 for contact with the intermediate piece 6.
[0048] The intermediate piece 6 has corresponding structures for a sliding connection. Specifically, there is a fastening groove 18, which (see especially Fig. 4) has two lateral inner surfaces 20 that also widen upwards, and a bottom 31. In other words, it is a dovetail groove whose cross-sectional area corresponds to the fastening rib 15 in the form of a dovetail profile.
[0049] In this case, if the buffer is essentially pushed on in the direction of travel 11 against the direction of arrow 44, there is a stop between a rear stop surface 22 on the respective side flank 19 of the intermediate piece 6, and a front stop surface 21 on the buffer base 5.
[0050] To prevent the buffer from being easily displaced from this stop position in the direction of arrow 44, a releasable positive-locking connection is provided. This connection is established solely by means of a material contour on the rigid intermediate piece 6 and a corresponding material contour on the rubber-elastic buffer base 5. Specifically, there is a locking groove 23 on the intermediate piece 6, which extends in the transverse direction 39, and a corresponding locking rib 25 on the buffer base 5. These elements are formed, among other things, by the locking projection 24 on the intermediate piece 6 and a corresponding locking recess 26 on the buffer base 5.
[0051] To the in the Fig. 1 Otherwise, to remove the attached buffer base, the buffer base 5 can be moved along the sliding direction 44 as shown in Fig. 1 c) respectively in Fig. 3The buffer sole 5 can be moved along 44. First, the connection between the form-fitting elements 23-26 must be overcome, and then the buffer sole 5 can be pushed out of the fastening groove 18 in the intermediate piece along 44, overcoming the sufficiently high static friction between the rubber-elastic material of the buffer sole 5 and the hard intermediate piece.
[0052] The detailed structure of intermediate piece 6 is derived in particular from the Figs. 2-4 The intermediate piece 6 has a fastening section 27 at its upper end, which is attached inside the upper buffer section via the corresponding outer surface 36. This fastening section 27 has an upper recess 29, which extends the recess 7 in the upper buffer section 4 and, in a sense, provides the bottom of this blind hole for the stick tip.
[0053] In this embodiment, there are two different internal contours inside this recess 29.
[0054] A first internal contour, designated by reference numeral 34, is provided for a stick tip on the stick tube, which is symmetrically designed, i.e., in this case, has a cylindrical hard metal tip with a smaller diameter, which transitions upwards in a conically widening section into a subsequent cylindrical section of the tip.
[0055] Then there is a second inner contour, indicated by reference numeral 35, which is intended for an asymmetrical tip, as can be seen in particular in the sectional view according to Fig. 4 c)This is recognizable. Such a tip typically has a crescent-shaped carbide tip, the orientation of which is predetermined relative to the also asymmetrical handle. By providing the corresponding contour 35, it can be ensured that the buffer 3 is securely attached to the tip of such an asymmetrical stick, preventing rotation. Furthermore, the hard intermediate piece 6, which forms the base of the mounting recess 7, ensures that a sharp stick tip is well supported and cannot cause damage in a soft, rubbery material.
[0056] The detailed structure of the buffer sole 5 can be seen in particular from Fig. 5This can be traced. Here it is particularly evident how the rolling surface 10 is asymmetrically designed, exhibiting a pronounced profile 9 even with lateral extensions, and on the opposite side the aforementioned fastening rib 15 for engaging in the fastening groove 18 of the intermediate piece 6. As mentioned, such a buffer sole does not have any hard elements as an interface to the intermediate piece. However, it is possible that spikes are embedded in the rolling surface, as is known, for example, from WO 2006 / 128312.
