Description
[0001] The invention relates to a drill dust extractor with a pot-shaped housing through which a rotatably driven drill can be axially passed, and with a piston assembly arranged axially displaceable in the housing, cooperating with a drill-side stop, which includes an induced draft blower device and can be adjusted to a housing-side stop by means of a spring engaged by it.
[0002] An arrangement of this type is known from DE 20 2020 106 108 U1. In this known arrangement, the piston assembly is rotatably mounted and is driven by the drill bit or the chuck that holds it. The piston assembly also serves as a suction fan, which is accordingly driven by the drill bit or the chuck. However, the rotational speeds used when drilling a hole are insufficient to generate adequate suction power for the suction fan provided here. Furthermore, the rotational speed depends on the diameter of the drill bit and therefore varies from case to case. The known arrangement thus proves to be unreliable.
[0003] Based on this, the object of the present invention is therefore to improve an arrangement of the type mentioned above using simple and cost-effective means in such a way as to ensure reliable operation.
[0004] This problem is solved according to the invention by providing at least one induced draft fan with its own drive motor and an energy storage device with a charging socket, assigned to each induced draft fan, in the piston assembly.
[0005] These measures ensure that the rotational speed, and therefore the power, of each suction fan mounted on the piston assembly (which is appropriately secured against rotation) is completely independent of the drill's rotational speed and can always operate at the optimal speed. This results in a virtually constant suction power independent of the drill's speed, thus ensuring high operational reliability. The energy storage device, preferably a battery, can be easily sized to provide sufficient charge for a desired number of drilling operations.
[0006] Advantageous designs and appropriate further developments of the overarching measures are specified in the subclaims.
[0007] The piston assembly, which is appropriately secured against rotation, can advantageously have a rotatably mounted starting bushing associated with the drill-side stop. This ensures that relative movements between the drill-side stop and the piston assembly, which acts as a counter-stop, are avoided, resulting in gentle operation.
[0008] In a further development of the overarching measures, it can be provided that each induced draft fan and the energy storage device, preferably designed as a battery, are coupled to each other by a control unit. This control unit includes an upwardly projecting push-button switch for switching each induced draft fan on and off. The push-button switch interacts with a housing-side stop, preferably designed as a collar of a socket that can be screwed onto the housing. The push-button switch can be designed such that it switches off each induced draft fan as soon as it, together with the piston assembly, comes into contact with the housing-side stop formed by the collar of the socket that can be screwed onto the housing, and switches it on as soon as it, together with the piston assembly, is removed from the stop. This results in an energy-saving design.
[0009] Further development of the overarching measures may include the provision that the piston unit is equipped with inlet and outlet openings assigned to each induced draft fan, and that an air filter is provided on the inlet side. This filter is conveniently held in place by a pot-shaped cover, which can be detachably attached to the piston unit from below and is in contact with the air inlet area of the piston unit. This cover contains a storage chamber upstream of the filter, which communicates with the space above the bottom of the housing via slit-shaped flow paths. The air filter ensures that the expelled air is filtered and that the drilling dust remains in the housing. The drilling dust carried out by the airflow can settle in the storage chamber upstream of the air filter, and the flow paths can be designed in such a way that no drilling dust can fall out even if the drill dust extractor is tipped over.Mounting the air filter on the cover, which can be detachably attached to the piston assembly, advantageously allows for reliable and secure placement as well as quick and easy replacement. These measures therefore result in high user-friendliness and trouble-free operation.
[0010] A further preferred improvement of the overarching measures can consist of the spring supporting the piston assembly being designed as a cylindrical spring with an outer diameter adapted to the inner diameter of the housing and enclosed by a sleeve made of a movable, airtight material, and the spring being clamped between the underside of the piston assembly and the opposite housing base, which has an outlet for the drill. This spring, together with the enclosing sleeve, forms a dust collection chamber and, due to its preload, also ensures that the piston assembly is reliably returned to the housing-side stop when the axial displacement force exerted by the drill is removed, thus enabling the reliable actuation of the control device's push-button switch.
[0011] The base of the housing can be expediently provided with an outer recess forming a channel between two peripheral areas.
[0012] This greatly simplifies handling, for example when working in areas with surface-mounted cables that can run in the channel formed by the recess.
[0013] A further improvement of the overall measures can consist of providing radial dust extraction channels in the area of the housing base associated with the drill bit. These ensure reliable channeling of the extracted drill dust. Advantageously, the dust extraction channels can be connected to a bushing that can be screwed into the housing base. This bushing has the drill bit's corresponding outlet, from which radial pilot holes extending to form the dust extraction channels extend. Using a bushing that can be screwed into the housing base and contains the dust extraction channels allows for easy adaptation to individual circumstances by providing several bushings with different dust extraction channels that can be used selectively.
[0014] A further, particularly desirable improvement of the overall measures can consist of the housing being detachably mounted on an associated base unit, which can be attached to the surface to be machined with the drill bit and has an adjustment device, preferably designed as a laser beam, directed at the center point of the hole to be drilled. These measures facilitate handling and increase accuracy. The base unit can be attached to the surface with the housing removed, providing a clear view of the center point of the hole marked by the adjustment device. The housing can then be placed on top, with an associated socket ensuring that the drill bit always hits the center point marked by the adjustment device.
[0015] To facilitate handling, the base unit may be provided with an evacuation device and thus be suctionable to the associated surface.
[0016] Further advantageous designs and appropriate further developments of the overarching measures can be seen in the following example description based on the drawing.
[0017] The drawing described below shows: Figure 1 shows a vertical section through a drill dust extractor according to the invention in a rest position with associated base device, Figure 2 shows a vertical section through the drill dust extractor according to the invention in operation and Figure 3 shows a preferred alternative with a simplified arrangement of the air filter.
[0018] The basic structure of the Figures 1 to 3The underlying arrangement is identical. Therefore, the same reference numerals are used for corresponding parts. The Figures 1 to 3 The underlying drill dust extractor 1 has a cup-shaped housing 2, which is open at the top and provided with a collared sleeve 3 that can be screwed onto the upper edge, and which is closed at the bottom by a base 4 that has an outlet opening 5 for an axially passable air through the drill dust extractor 1. Figure 1 The drill bit 6 is indicated only by its upper end area. The base 4 can be provided with an outer, downwardly open recess 4a extending between two peripheral areas, which can form a channel for routing wall-side protrusions, such as surface-mounted cables, etc. A device generating sufficient suction is provided for extracting the drilling dust produced when drilling a hole in a building wall, etc.
[0019] For this purpose, a piston assembly 7 is arranged to be axially displaceable within the housing 2. This assembly contains at least one, here two, adjacent induced draft fans 9, each equipped with its own drive motor 8, and an associated energy storage device 10. This energy storage device can be designed as a battery, which is provided with a charging socket 12 accessible radially from above within the collar 11 of the sleeve 3. The piston assembly 7, which is arranged to be axially displaceable within the housing 2, rests with its underside on a spring 13 located below it within the housing 2. The spring 13 is biased by the piston assembly 7 against the collar 11 of the sleeve 3, which can be screwed onto the housing 2. The sleeve 3 effectively forms an adjustable upper stop for the piston assembly 7.
[0020] The spring 13 is designed as a cylindrical spring in the style of a coil spring with a large pitch, with an outer diameter adapted to the inner diameter of the housing 2. Its lower end is supported on the inside of the base 4 of the housing 2, and its upper end is supported on the underside of the piston assembly 7, so that when a downward force is removed, the piston assembly 7 is reliably disengaged from one of the Figure 2 underlying working position, raised from the stop formed by the collar 11 into the Figure 1 The underlying stop position is pushed back. The spring 13 has the appropriate preload for this purpose. The spring 13 can be enclosed by a sleeve 14 made of a movable, airtight material. In this way, a chamber 15 is formed, bounded radially by the sleeve 14 and axially by the base 4 of the housing 2 and the piston assembly 7, which in an embodiment according to Figure 1 and 2 can function as a dust container. In operation, that is, when the piston assembly 7 is moved away from the collar 11, which acts as a stop, by the drill 6 in the feed direction of the drill 6, the spring 13 is compressed and the sleeve 14 is folded accordion-like, as in Figure 2 This is indicated schematically. The closed chamber 15 is thus retained; it is merely made slightly smaller.
[0021] For electrical coupling of the energy storage device 10 with the associated drive motor 8 of each induced draft fan 9, a control device mounted on a circuit board 16 can be provided, which has an upwardly extendable push-button switch 17 arranged in the radial area of the collar 11 of the sleeve 3, which acts as a stop. This switch can be designed to switch off the induced draft fans 8 when it is pressed against the collar 11 by starting up, and vice versa. Figure 1The starting position is the basis in which the induced draft fans 8 are switched off and therefore consume no energy. Figure 2 shows the operating position in which the push-button switch 17 is free and the induced draft fans 8 are therefore running.
[0022] During drilling, the piston assembly 7, which is secured against rotation in the housing 2 by an axial guide 2a, is pressed down by the drill bit 6 penetrating it against the force of the spring 13 and thus according to Figure 2away from the collar 11, which acts as a stop. In the illustrated example, the drill 6 is provided with a stop 18 formed by a flange ring or the like, which interacts with the piston assembly 7 during a feed movement of the drill 6. The piston assembly 7 can be provided with a thrust bushing 19 associated with the stop 18, which can be freely rotatable in the piston assembly 7, as indicated by the ball bearing 20. To prevent a rubbing relative movement, the flange ring forming the stop 18 and the thrust bushing 19 can be connected to each other by means of a bearing in which the Figure 1 The underlying drive position is provided with mutually interlocking gears 21.
[0023] With the drill bit 6 removed, i.e. when the drill dust extractor 1 is at a standstill, the opening of the guide bushing 19 can be covered by a rotary slide 22 rotatably mounted on the collar 11 of the sleeve 3 to prevent the ingress of dust and debris from the outside into the interior of the drill dust extractor 1.
[0024] The piston assembly 7 has inlet and outlet openings 23, 24 assigned to its induced draft fans 8, each of which may be assigned a grate-like locking device 25. An air filter 26 is assigned to the lower inlet opening. This can be arranged according to Figure 1 and 2 on a drawer 27, which can be slidably mounted on the underside of the piston assembly 7 by means of a sliding guide 28 extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of the housing 2. A preferred alternative, which does not require a drawer, is described in Figure 3 shown, which is described further below.
[0025] The dust produced when drilling a hole in a building wall, etc., and drawn in by the induced draft fan 9, is distributed in the example according to Figure 1 and 2 The debris settles in the space radially bounded by the sleeve 14 of the spring 13 and must be removed from time to time. For this purpose, the chamber 15 can be opened and emptied. However, it is more convenient to vacuum the chamber 15 using a vacuum cleaner. To facilitate this, a sealing cap 29, which can be attached to the sleeve 3 after the drill bit 6 has been removed, can be provided. This cap may have a closable opening 29a for attaching a vacuum cleaner hose, etc. During this vacuuming process, the rotary valve 22 is naturally in its open position.
[0026] During drilling, the drilling dust is drawn in through the outlet opening 5 provided in the area of the base 4 of the housing 2, which is associated with the drill bit 6. This opening can, as in the example shown, be associated with a bushing 30 screwed into a corresponding opening in the base 4, which is expediently provided with radially extending, star-shaped pilot holes from its bore forming the outlet 5 to form drilling dust intake channels 31.
[0027] In simple cases, the drill dust extractor according to the invention can, as Figure 2 The figure shows that the drill bit is placed directly onto the wall to be worked with the drill bit 6. The housing 2 is provided with contact pads 32 on its underside to ensure gentle placement. However, in cases like this, precise positioning of a hole requires considerable skill.
[0028] To facilitate handling, therefore, how Figure 1Figure 1 shows a base unit 33 that can be attached to the wall to be worked on and is provided with a socket 34 for the housing 2 of the drill dust extractor 1, which can be detachably engaged with it. The base unit 33 has a relatively large through-opening 35 associated with the outlet 5 of the drill dust extractor 1, within which the center point 36 of the bore to be produced lies. The socket 34 associated with the housing 2 is designed such that the drill bit 6, which passes through the drill dust extractor 1 (its housing 2 engaged with the socket 34), strikes the center point 36. To indicate the center point 36, the base unit 33 can advantageously be equipped with an adjustment device. This can be, as shown in Figure 2, Figure 1 is indicated as being designed as a laser device which has a laser cannon 37 which emits a laser beam 38 which hits the center point 36 exactly.
[0029] The base unit 33 is expediently fixed immovably to the associated base. For this purpose, the base unit 33 can be equipped with a suitable vacuum evacuation device. Advantageously, the base unit 33 includes an evacuation blower 39 with its own drive motor, located in an inner chamber. This blower is connected to an energy storage device 40, expediently designed as a battery, and a momentary switch 41 for switching it on and off. The vacuum generated when the evacuation blower 39 is activated acts within the cavity of the base unit 33, which is expediently designed as a hollow body and forms the aforementioned inner chamber. The base unit 33 is mounted on the system side, i.e., in the Figure 1 below, is provided with suction openings sealed by a ring seal 42 each.
[0030] The housing 2 of the drill dust extractor 1 can be secured in the socket 34 of the base unit 33 by a plug-in closure. For ease of handling, a magnetic closure can be advantageously provided. For this purpose, magnetic rings can be provided on both sides, which attract each other when brought near one another.
[0031] To avoid having to put down the drill dust extractor 1 when attaching the base unit 33 to the associated surface, the housing 2 can be equipped with a cord 43 forming a retaining loop. This allows the drill dust extractor 1 to be hung from a wrist, so that the corresponding hand is free for work, but the drill dust extractor 1 is always readily available, which greatly facilitates handling. In simple cases, as already indicated above, the use of the base unit 33 can be dispensed with, and the housing 2 of the drill dust extractor 1 can be placed directly on the surface to be worked with the drill 6, as described above. Figure 2 shows.
[0032] In the representation according to Figure 2As mentioned above, the drill-side stop 18 of the drill 6, which is clamped here in a drill chuck 44 of a hand drill, etc., engages with the starting bushing 19 of the piston assembly 7. The piston assembly 7 is moved away from the upper stop formed by the collar 11 of the sleeve 3 in the axial working direction of the drill 6 by the axially moving drill 6. This also releases the push-button switch 17, so that the induced draft fans 8 are switched on. The axial movement of the piston assembly 7 caused by the drill 6, which is secured against rotation by the axial guide 2a, occurs against the force of the spring 13, which is thereby compressed, as also mentioned above. The sleeve 14, which consists of a flexible material, allows this compression and forms accordion-like folds, as shown in Figure 2 As indicated, after the feed force exerted by the drill 6 ceases, the piston assembly 7, as in connection with Figure 1 As already mentioned, it is moved back by the spring 13 and positioned against the stop formed by the collar 11, which also presses the push-button switch 17 and thus switches off the induced draft fans 8, so that no energy is consumed as long as the drill dust extractor 1 is not in use.
[0033] The correct insertion of the air filter 26 into the drawer 27 according to the design Figure 1 and 2 This can sometimes prove difficult. To remedy this, the following steps should be taken during execution: Figure 3 To hold the air filter 26, a pot-shaped cover 50 is provided, which can be detachably attached to the underside of the piston assembly 7 and presses the air filter 26 against the underside of the air-inlet area of the piston assembly 7, which is suitably covered by a grate. The pot-shaped cover 50 contains a storage space 51 located upstream of the air filter 26, which is accessed via Figure 3Flow paths 52 indicated by dashed lines with the space provided on the housing side above the in Figure 3The airflow communicates with the bottom 4 of the housing 2 (not shown), so that the drilling dust brought in by the airflow generated by the suction fans 9 enters the storage space 51 and can settle there. The flow paths 52 are formed by structurally provided gaps between the drill 6, which passes through the piston assembly 7 and the attached cover 50, and an inner collar 53 of the cover 50, which forms a passage opening for the drill, as well as between the front face of the inner collar 53 and the underside of the piston assembly 7, and between the inner collar 53 and an adjacent outer collar 54 projecting downwards from the underside of the piston assembly 7. The inner collar 53 and the outer collar 54 surrounding it effectively form a labyrinth that prevents the drilling dust from falling out if the housing 2 is overturned. To prevent false air being drawn in from above, a suitable seal 55 can be provided in the lower area of the through-hole of the piston assembly 7 associated with the drill 6. This seal can expediently be designed as an elastically compliant lip seal, etc., which can adapt to different drill diameters.
[0034] A threaded connection can be provided for the detachable fastening of the cover 50 to the piston assembly 7. In the Figure 3 In the illustrated embodiment, a magnetic holder is provided for this purpose, which is expediently formed by mutually attracting magnetic rings 56, 57 provided on the piston assembly side and the cover side. The spring 13, which elastically supports the piston assembly 7, is also present in the embodiment according to Figure 3required. The sheath 14 encompassing the spring 13 can be provided here, but is not strictly necessary, since the drilling dust is collected in the storage compartment 51. To empty the storage compartment 51, it can be opened and emptied. However, it is also expedient here, as in the designs according to Figure 1 and 2 Extraction is carried out by means of a vacuum cleaner which can be attached to a cap 29 with an opening 29a which is provided after removal of the drill 6 onto the sleeve 3.
[0035] Although preferred embodiments of the invention have been described in more detail above, the invention is not limited to these.
