Description
1. Field of the invention
[0001] The invention relates to the field of user authentication. The technique relates more particularly to the authentication of users in the context of payment operations and access to goods or services. 2. Prior Art
[0002] In recent years, payment transaction techniques have undergone profound changes, mainly due to the rapid development of payment solutions on mobile terminals. Indeed, mobile communication terminals (also called smartphones) have evolved to become true pocket computers whose computing power and processing capabilities are equivalent to those of desktop computers. Thus, thanks to electronic wallets, which are hosted on a communication terminal, it is possible to carry out a payment transaction directly from this communication terminal.
[0003] Most merchants have payment terminals that support at least one payment technology that allows a customer to complete a payment transaction via a communication terminal. One such payment technology, for example, uses NFC (Near Field Communication) communications between the payment terminal and the communication terminal to complete the payment transaction. Another payment technology, for example, uses QR codes to transmit transaction data to the communication terminal; the payment transaction is then completed via a payment server.
[0004] In order to be able to offer payment transactions to the largest number of communication terminal users, most merchants have multimodal payment terminals, which allow payment transactions to be carried out using several types of payment technologies.
[0005] When a user wishes to use his communication terminal to carry out a payment transaction to such a multimodal payment terminal, the merchant must manually select on the payment terminal a payment transaction method according to which the payment transaction will be carried out before initiating the transaction.
[0006] In the prior art, depending on the characteristics of the communication terminal, the merchant can select a payment transaction mode (NFC or QR code) on the payment terminal in order to carry out the transaction. In practice, since the merchant is not an expert in communication terminals, a default payment transaction mode is selected, by the merchant or by the manufacturer of the payment terminal. In general, this default mode is the QR code transaction mode. A communication terminal that does not have this payment transaction mode, but has another payment transaction mode also supported by the payment terminal, cannot then carry out a payment transaction with the payment terminal. The user of such a communication terminal must then use another payment method to pay the merchant (bank card, cash, check, etc.), or even cancel their purchase.
[0007] Furthermore, when the communication terminal supports several payment technologies, for example NFC and QRcode, the user of the communication terminal does not always know which payment transaction methods are available on his communication terminal, nor which is the most appropriate to carry out the transaction.
[0008] Patent application EP 2 779 064 A1 describes a method and system for mobile transactions comprising a payment terminal supporting NFC and QR code technologies which selects the technology used for the transaction based on a preference received from a customer's device. Document US 2013 / 0006847 A1 describes a method according to which the initiation of a payment transaction is carried out via a first communication mode, and the continuation and finalization of the transaction is carried out via a second communication mode. 3. Statement of the invention
[0009] The invention improves the state of the art. It relates to a method for providing data relating to a payment transaction to a communication terminal according to claim 1.
[0010] The supply method thus makes it possible to simplify the use of a multimodal payment device for the merchant. Such a multimodal payment device is a payment device capable of carrying out a payment transaction with a communication terminal using at least two distinct payment transaction modes.
[0011] A user's communication terminal can then use the first signal or the second signal emitted by the payment device to carry out the payment transaction depending on the characteristics of the communication terminal, and in particular the payment transaction mode supported by the payment application implemented on the communication terminal.
[0012] The various embodiments or features mentioned below may be added independently or in combination with each other to the features of the supply method defined above.
[0013] Said second signal is a 2D visual code, and the step of transmitting the second signal corresponds to a display of said 2D visual code on a screen of the payment device.
[0014] According to the invention, the 2D visual code is a QR code (for Quick Response in English). A communication terminal can thus scan the 2D visual code from the screen of the payment device to carry out the transaction, for example when the communication terminal is not adapted to process the first signal emitted by the payment device via the first communication channel. The payment transaction is then carried out via the second communication channel, which in this example is the communication network, for example the Internet.
[0015] Said second signal comprises information representative of the transmission of said first signal.
[0016] This thus makes it possible to warn the communication terminal and the user of such a terminal of the presence of the first signal. For example, when the first signal is an NFC signal emitted by the payment device, and the payment application of the communication terminal supports both payment transaction modes or the communication terminal supports two payment applications respectively implementing the first and second payment transaction modes, the communication terminal or the user can then choose the most suitable payment transaction mode, for example the fastest or the most secure.
[0017] Or, if the user's communication terminal supports the first transaction mode, but not the second transaction mode, the user may decide not to carry out the payment transaction via his communication terminal because he only sees the second signal, which is a visual signal. This particular embodiment of the invention makes it possible to warn the user (or the communication terminal directly) that the payment device is multimodal and supports both payment transaction modes. Thus, the user is encouraged to use the first payment transaction mode.
[0018] According to another particular embodiment of the invention, the provisioning method further comprises a step of receiving a response signal via the first or second communication channel.
[0019] The invention also relates to a payment device capable of carrying out a payment transaction with a communication terminal according to at least two payment transaction modes according to claim 3.
[0020] The invention also relates to a payment terminal comprising a device according to any one of the embodiments described above.
[0021] Another aspect of the invention relates to a method of selecting a payment transaction mode for carrying out a payment transaction initiated by a payment device according to claim 6.
[0022] The various embodiments or characteristics mentioned below can be added independently or in combination with each other, to the characteristics of the selection method defined above.
[0023] The communication terminal receives a short-range NFC signal emitted by the payment device and therefore immediately detects the possibility of a second possible payment transaction method.
[0024] The signal received by the communication terminal comprises the second information of a payment transaction mode. Advantageously, the user of the communication terminal is informed of the possibility of using a second payment transaction mode. For example, when the payment application of the communication terminal has not detected a second signal, for example an NFC signal emitted by the payment device, the NFC payment transaction mode is not activated on the communication terminal. The signal received is a QR code comprising visual information or information coded in the QR code indicating the emission of an NFC signal. .the user of the communication terminal can activate the NFC payment transaction mode on his terminal in addition to the QR code payment transaction mode. Or the communication terminal activates such a mode following the detection of the information indicating the emission of an NFC signal by the payment device in the QR code. The communication terminal can then select the most appropriate payment transaction mode.
[0025] According to another particular embodiment of the invention, the characteristic of the payment transaction corresponds to an amount of the transaction.
[0026] Advantageously, the transaction method is selected based on the amount in the transaction. For example, it may be advantageous to use a transaction method requiring a payment server when the amount is above a predetermined threshold, for example 20 euros, in order to be able to perform additional checks with the user's bank during the payment transaction and guarantee payment to the merchant.
[0027] Correlatively, the invention also relates to a communication terminal adapted to select a payment transaction mode to carry out a payment transaction initiated by a payment device according to claim 8.
[0028] The method of providing, respectively the method of selecting, according to the invention can be implemented in various ways, in particular in wired form or in software form.
[0029] According to a particular embodiment of the invention, the provision method, respectively the selection method, is implemented by a computer program. The invention also relates to a computer program comprising instructions for implementing the provision method or the selection method according to any of the particular embodiments described above, when said program is executed by a processor. Such a program can use any programming language. It can be downloaded from a communications network and / or recorded on a computer-readable medium.
[0030] This program may use any programming language, and may be in the form of source code, object code, or code intermediate between source code and object code, such as in a partially compiled form, or in any other desirable form.
[0031] The invention also relates to a recording medium or information medium readable by a computer, and comprising instructions of a computer program as mentioned above. The recording media mentioned above can be any entity or device capable of storing the program. For example, the medium can comprise a storage means, such as a ROM, for example a CD ROM or a microelectronic circuit ROM, or a magnetic recording means, for example a floppy disk or a hard disk. Furthermore, the recording media can correspond to a transmissible medium such as an electrical or optical signal, which can be conveyed via an electrical or optical cable, by radio or by other means. The program according to the invention can in particular be downloaded from a network such as the Internet.
[0032] Alternatively, the recording media may correspond to an integrated circuit in which the program is incorporated, the circuit being adapted to execute or to be used in the execution of the methods in question. 4. List of figures
[0033] Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the following description of a particular embodiment, given as a simple illustrative and non-limiting example, and the appended drawings, among which: there figure 1 presents an environment for implementing the invention; the figure 2 illustrates the main steps of the method for providing data relating to a payment transaction according to an embodiment of the invention; the figure 3 represents a signal relating to a payment transaction mode issued according to a particular embodiment of the invention; the figure 4presents the simplified structure of a payment device according to an embodiment of the invention, the Figure 5 presents the main steps of the method for selecting a payment transaction mode according to a particular embodiment of the invention, the figure 6 presents the simplified structure of a communication terminal according to one embodiment of the invention. 5. Description of an embodiment of the invention 5.1. General principle
[0034] The invention relates to a multimodal electronic payment device, i.e. an electronic payment device adapted to carry out payment transactions with a communication terminal according to different payment technologies. To carry out such payment transactions, it is not necessary for the communication terminal and the electronic payment device to be in physical contact. Such payment technologies can use either a communication channel of a short-range network (NFC, Bluethooth ©< , WIFI, ...), or a communication network such as the Internet.
[0035] Advantageously, the invention allows the simultaneous transmission of at least two signals relating to the same payment transaction, each signal being representative of a different payment technology. Thus, the operation of multimodal payment devices is simplified from the merchant's point of view and the completion of the transaction is also simplified for the user of a communication terminal who wishes to carry out the payment transaction via his communication terminal: the communication terminal can choose the technology that best suits him to make the payment.
[0036] In addition, the invention also makes it possible to simplify the use of a communication terminal that supports several payment transaction modes, either via the same multimodal payment application or via several payment applications. Indeed, the invention allows a communication terminal to select a payment transaction mode when several payment transaction modes are available from the payment device.
[0037] Therefore, this technique allows the merchant, who has the multimodal payment device, to accept any type of payment, regardless of the technology used. In addition, such a payment terminal makes it easier for users to carry out transactions: they do not have to worry about which payment technology they can use depending on their terminal model: since several signals are emitted simultaneously, the communication terminal (or the user) chooses the appropriate signal.
[0038] Depending on the embodiments, the payment transaction itself can be carried out either directly by the payment device (if, for example, the communication terminal transmits payment data to the payment device), or via a payment server to which the communication terminal connects (in this case, the signal emitted - in duplicate - includes an address to which the communication terminal connects to make the payment). In the latter case, one or more authentication data are produced: these data are used to verify the authenticity of the link between the payment device and the transaction; these data are also used to identify the means of payment used (for example, this is an authentication code for the means of payment). 5.2. Example of implementation
[0039] There figure 1presents an environment for implementing the invention according to a particular embodiment. In this example, a multimodal electronic payment device 11 is placed at a merchant. A user wishes to make a payment at the merchant via his communication terminal 12. The communication terminal 12 is for example a mobile terminal of the smartphone type.
[0040] The communication terminal 12 is capable of establishing communications via a communication network 10, such as the Internet, or a mobile IP data network, to communicate with other communication terminals or servers also connected to the communication network.
[0041] An electronic payment application AP is installed on the communication terminal 12. The electronic payment application AP is adapted to establish payment transactions according to at least one payment transaction mode. By payment transaction mode, we mean here the electronic payment technology used by the communication terminal and the electronic payment device 11, and possibly a payment server, to communicate the data relating to the transaction and the banking data of the user of the communication terminal. Such a payment technology is for example an NFC contactless payment technology, or a QR code payment technology.
[0042] In order for the communication terminal 12 to be able to carry out payment transactions with a payment device 11, authentication data and banking data of the user have been recorded within the communication terminal 12, for example in the SIM card of the terminal to encrypt and secure such data, by the provider of the payment application.
[0043] According to a first example, the electronic payment application AP of the communication terminal 12 uses NFC payment technology to carry out payment transactions. According to this example, the communication terminal 12 therefore comprises an NFC transceiver module capable of communicating with the payment application AP.
[0044] The payment device 11 is adapted to carry out payment transactions according to NFC payment technology. Such NFC payment technology constitutes a first mode of payment transaction, within the meaning of the invention. Such NFC payment technology uses a communication channel established over a short range (13), of the order of ten centimeters. According to this payment technology, to carry out the payment transaction, the merchant initiates the transaction on the payment device 11 by entering the data relating to the transaction, for example the amount of the payment to be made. The electronic payment device 11 generates a signal according to an NFC protocol and waits to receive the user's banking data to be able to complete the payment transaction. The user of the communication terminal triggers the payment application AP on his communication terminal 12 and brings the communication terminal 12 close to the payment device 11. When the communication terminal 12 and the payment device 11 are sufficiently close, of the order of 5 to 10 cm, the payment application AP detects, via the NFC transceiver module, the NFC signal emitted by the payment device 11. Following this detection, the payment application AP controls the transmission, via the NFC transceiver module of the communication terminal 12, of the banking data stored in the communication terminal 12, to the payment device 11. The payment device 11 receives the user's banking data and stores them with the data relating to the payment transaction. The payment device 11 then communicates with a payment server of a financial institution to transmit the payment transaction data and obtain the actual payment, i.e. so that the user's bank account is debited with the transaction amount and the merchant's bank account is credited with the transaction amount.
[0045] Before closing the transaction with the communication terminal and requesting payment from the financial institution, the payment device 11 may optionally ask the financial institution to authenticate the user of the communication terminal 11 in order to guarantee the validity of the payment transaction.
[0046] According to a second example, the electronic payment application AP of the communication terminal 12 uses QR code payment technology to carry out payment transactions. According to this example, the communication terminal 12 comprises a QR code capture module, for example a camera. The payment application AP is able to communicate with the camera of the communication terminal 12 to obtain the image of the captured QR code and to process such an image to obtain the coded information that the QR code contains.
[0047] The payment device 11 is also adapted to carry out payment transactions according to QR code payment technology. Such QR code payment technology constitutes a second mode of payment transaction, within the meaning of the invention.
[0048] A QR code is a 2D (two-dimensional) visual code consisting of black and white pixels arranged in a defined frame, usually a square. The arrangement of the black and white pixels within the frame defines the information contained in the code. A QR code has the advantage that the information it contains can be quickly decoded after the code has been read by a code reader or camera.
[0049] According to the payment technology based on the use of QR codes, following the initialization of a payment transaction by the merchant on the electronic payment device 11, the electronic payment device 11 generates a QR code comprising identification data of the transaction to be carried out, identification data of the merchant or of the payment device and data allowing a communication terminal to access a payment server via the communication network 10.
[0050] To carry out the payment transaction, the payment application AP of the communication terminal 12 scans the QR code displayed on the payment device 11, via the camera of the communication terminal 12. Then, the payment application AP of the communication terminal 12 decodes the scanned QR code and extracts from the decoded data: the address of the payment server (not shown) and the data relating to the transaction to be carried out (amount of the transaction, identification of the payment device and / or the merchant).
[0051] Then, the payment application AP of the communication terminal 12 communicates with the payment server using the extracted address. During this communication, the payment application AP of the communication terminal 12 provides the payment server with the extracted data relating to the transaction and the banking data of the user of the communication terminal 12 stored in the communication terminal 12. The payment server returns the received banking data and the data relating to the transaction to the payment device 11 so that the payment device records the payment transaction with the banking data relating to the user of the communication terminal 12.
[0052] Optionally, according to one or other of the examples described above, the payment application AP of the communication terminal 12 may ask the user to enter a code, for example a PIN code, in order to authorize the payment transaction, before sending the user's banking data.
[0053] There figure 2illustrates the main steps of the method for providing data relating to a payment transaction according to a particular embodiment of the invention. In the prior art, when the merchant initiates the payment transaction on the payment device 11, the payment device 11 generates only one signal intended for the communication terminal 12. The signal generated depends on the transaction mode which has been selected by the merchant or which has been selected by default by the supplier of the payment device 11. In the embodiment described here, the communication terminal 12 supports only one payment transaction mode.
[0054] According to the particular embodiment described here, during a step E20, the merchant initiates on the payment device 11, the payment transaction to be carried out with the communication terminal 12.
[0055] Following the initialization in step E20, during a step E21, the payment device 11 generates an NFC signal comprising information making it possible to establish the payment transaction via an NFC short-range communication channel 13. For example, the signal generated comprises authentication data allowing the communication terminal 12 to authenticate itself with the payment device 11 (or to transmit payment data of the bank card type).
[0056] Following the initialization in step E20, during a step E22, the payment device 11 also generates a QR code signal. The QR code signal notably comprises information making it possible to establish the transaction via the communication network 10. The QR code signal comprises the address of the payment server with which the communication terminal 12 must authenticate itself, and data relating to the payment transaction enabling the communication terminal 12 to authenticate itself (such as data relating to the amount of the transaction, bank account data).
[0057] During a step E23, the payment device 11 transmits via the NFC communication channel 13 the signal generated during step E21. Concomitantly with step E23, during a step E24, the payment device 11 transmits the QR code generated during step E22. During step E24, the payment device 11 displays the generated QR code on its screen.
[0058] According to a first example, when the payment application AP of the communication terminal 12 supports the NFC payment transaction mode, the user of the communication terminal approaches the communication terminal 12 to the payment device 11 in order to complete the payment transaction. The communication terminal 12 detects the NFC signal transmitted during step E23, extracts the authentication data of the transaction from the NFC signal and transmits to the payment device 11 the extracted authentication data and the user's banking data.
[0059] During a step E25, the payment device 11 receives this information on the NFC communication channel.
[0060] Alternatively, the communication terminal can also connect to a payment server whose address is indicated in the NFC signal and make the payment from this server. During step E25, the payment device 11 then receives a payment confirmation from the payment server.
[0061] According to a second example, when the payment application AP of the communication terminal 12 supports the QRcode payment transaction mode, the user of the communication terminal positions the communication terminal 12 to capture the QR code displayed by the payment device 11. The communication terminal 12 captures (i.e. scans or flashes) the QR code displayed during step E24. The communication terminal 12 decodes the scanned QR code and extracts from the decoded data the authentication data of the transaction and the address of the payment server. The communication terminal 12 communicates, via the communication network 10, with the payment server and transmits to the payment server the extracted authentication data and the user's banking data. The payment server then carries out the payment transaction (with the data it receives from the communication terminal, for example payment card data) and transmits, via the communication network 10, a payment confirmation to the payment device 11.
[0062] During step E25, the payment device 11 therefore receives from the payment server, via the communication network 10, a payment confirmation (comprising the authentication data previously transmitted).
[0063] In step E26, the payment device 11 authenticates the payment confirmation received by verifying that the authentication data received corresponds to the authentication data sent via the NFC signal or the QR code signal for the transaction initiated in step E20. After authentication, the payment device 11 records the information received in step E25 in order to complete the payment transaction.
[0064] When the payment transaction is completed, the payment device 11 stops transmitting the NFC signal and displaying the QR code.
[0065] The method of the invention has been described in the case where the payment device supports NFC payment technology and QR code payment technology. Other embodiments are possible, for example when the payment device supports ultrasound payment technology. In this example, the ultrasound signal is transmitted, for example with an additional voice component, in parallel with the NFC signal for example, in order to warn the user (and the communication terminal) that the payment device 11 supports NFC payment technology.
[0066] There figure 3 represents a signal relating to a payment transaction mode issued according to a particular embodiment of the invention. The figure 3 represents a QR code generated for example by the payment device 11 during step E22 described in relation to the figure 2 and issued by the payment device 11 during step E24.
[0067] According to the particular embodiment described here, the QR code comprises an NFC technology logo. Such a QR code thus comprises information representative of the emission of the NFC signal by the payment device 11. The QR code remains perfectly readable and interpretable by the camera of the communication terminal 12 and the payment application AP when the payment application AP supports the QRcode payment technology.
[0068] The QR code of the figure 3makes it possible to warn the user that the payment device 11 is multimodal and supports both NFC payment technology and QR code payment technology. For example, when the user's communication terminal 12 supports NFC payment technology, but not QR code payment technology, the user may decide not to carry out the payment transaction via his communication terminal 12 because the display of a QR code by the payment device 11 indicates to him that QR code payment technology is supported but the user has no indication regarding NFC payment technology.
[0069] The QR code comprising information representative of the emission of the NFC signal emitted by the payment device 11, and as represented in figure 3, makes it possible to warn the user (or directly the communication terminal) that the payment device 11 is multimodal and supports two payment transaction modes. Thus, the user of the communication terminal 12 is encouraged to use NFC payment technology even if a QR code is displayed by the payment device 11.
[0070] According to this particular embodiment of the invention, after the display of such a QR code during step E24, the user of the communication terminal 12 brings his communication terminal 12 close to the payment device 11 in order to complete the payment transaction initialized as described in relation to the figure 2 .
[0071] There figure 4presents the simplified structure of a payment device 11 according to a particular embodiment of the invention. Such a payment device 11 comprises a memory MEM, a processing unit UT, equipped for example with a microprocessor PROC, and controlled by the computer program PG stored in memory MEM. The computer program PG comprises instructions for implementing the steps of the supply method as described in relation to the figure 2 , when the program is executed by the processor PROC.
[0072] At initialization, the code instructions of the computer program PG are for example loaded into a RAM memory before being executed by the processor PROC. The processor PROC of the processing unit UT implements in particular the steps of the provision method described in relation to the figure 2 , according to the instructions of the PG computer program.
[0073] For this, the payment device 11 comprises an NFC transmission-reception interface COM1 capable of transmitting an NFC signal on command from the processor PROC of the processing unit UT according to the instructions of the computer program PG.
[0074] The payment device 11 also comprises a COM2 interface capable of communicating with the communication network 10, and in particular of receiving data relating to payment transactions.
[0075] The payment device 11 comprises a screen AFF capable of displaying a 2D visual code, such as a QR code. Conventionally, the payment device 11 also comprises a user interaction interface IN capable of receiving commands from the merchant and transmitting them to the processor PROC of the processing unit UT. Such an interface is for example a keyboard, a touch screen. The interface COM1, the interface COM2, the screen AFF and the interface IN are controlled by the processor PROC of the processing unit PG according to the instructions of the computer program PG.
[0076] According to a particular embodiment of the invention, the payment device 11 is included in a payment terminal.
[0077] There Figure 5presents the main steps of the method for selecting a payment transaction mode according to a particular embodiment of the invention. The communication terminal 12 is capable of carrying out a payment transaction with the payment device 11 according to two distinct payment transaction modes, a transaction mode using NFC payment technology and a transaction mode using QR code payment technology.
[0078] During a step E50, the communication terminal 12 receives a signal relating to the payment transaction emitted by the payment device 11. Such a signal corresponds to an image of a QR code scanned by the camera of the communication terminal 12. According to another example not covered by the claimed invention when the payment device is adapted to carry out payment transactions via a technology based on ultrasound, the signal corresponds to an ultrasonic signal emitted by the payment device.
[0079] During a step E51, the communication terminal obtains from the signal received during step E50, information indicating to the communication terminal that the transaction initiated by the payment device 11 can be carried out according to a first payment transaction mode. The communication terminal decodes the QR code and extracts from the decoded data the authentication data of the transaction and the address of the payment server.
[0080] During a step E52, the communication terminal obtains a second piece of information indicating a second possible payment transaction mode for carrying out the payment transaction with the payment device 11.
[0081] According to a variant, this information is encoded in the QR code received during step E50. The communication terminal then extracts it from the decoded data of the QR code.
[0082] According to another variant, the QR code comprises visual information interpretable by the user of the communication terminal 12. Such visual information indicates that the payment device 11 supports another payment transaction mode. For example, the visual information is included in a QR code as illustrated in figure 3 The visual information of the QR code indicates that an NFC payment transaction method is possible.
[0083] According to an example of this variant, the user then activates on his communication terminal the payment application relating to the NFC payment transaction method.
[0084] According to another example of this variant, the communication terminal 12 analyzes the image of the QR code scanned during step E50 and extracts the visual information included in the QR code. The communication terminal 12 then detects that this visual information corresponds to a logo of the NFC technology, for example by comparing the extracted visual information and images of the logo stored in the communication terminal 12. The communication terminal 12 then activates the payment application relating to the NFC payment transaction mode and indicates to the user that this payment mode is activated.
[0085] According to another variant, the communication terminal 12 is sufficiently close to the payment device 11 to detect the NFC signal emitted by the payment device 11 during step E23 described in relation to the figure 2In this variant, the second information indicating a second possible payment transaction mode is obtained from the NFC signal received by the communication terminal 12.
[0086] In a step E53, the communication terminal 12 selects a payment transaction mode to be used to carry out the payment transaction with the payment device 11. The selection is made from the QR code payment transaction mode and the NFC payment transaction mode which were detected respectively in steps E51 and E52. Such a selection of a payment transaction mode is made from at least one characteristic of said communication terminal 12 or from a characteristic of the payment transaction. For example, the NFC payment transaction mode is selected if the amount of the transaction is less than 20 euros, and the QR code payment transaction mode is selected if the amount of the transaction is greater than or equal to 20 euros.
[0087] According to another example, the NFC payment transaction mode is selected according to the communication network to which the communication terminal 12 is connected. For example, if the communication terminal 12 is connected to a 2G network, the communication terminal 12 selects an NFC payment transaction mode. If the communication terminal 12 is connected to a 3G / 4G network, the communication terminal 12 selects a QR code payment transaction mode.
[0088] Following the selection of a payment transaction mode, the communication terminal 12 sends, during a step E54, a response signal intended for the payment device 11, via the communication channel associated with the selected payment transaction mode.
[0089] For this, when the selected payment transaction mode is an NFC transaction mode, if the communication terminal 12 has not yet detected the NFC signal emitted by the payment device 11, visual information is displayed by the communication terminal 12 to the user so that the user of the communication terminal 12 brings the communication terminal 12 closer to the payment device 11. Then, when the signal emitted by the payment device 11 during step E23 is detected, the communication terminal 12 extracts the transaction authentication data from the NFC signal and transmits the extracted authentication data and the user's banking data to the payment device 11 via an NFC channel.
[0090] When the selected payment transaction mode is a QR code transaction mode, during step E54, the communication terminal 12 communicates, via the communication network 10, with the payment server and transmits to the payment server the extracted authentication data and the user's banking data. The payment server transmits, via the communication network 10, this information to the payment device 11.
[0091] There figure 6 presents the simplified structure of a communication terminal according to an embodiment of the invention. Such a communication terminal 12 comprises a memory MEM0, a processing unit UT0, equipped for example with a microprocessor PROCO, and controlled by the computer program PG0 stored in memory MEM0. The computer program PG0 comprises instructions for implementing the steps of the selection method as described in relation to the Figure 5, when the program is executed by the PROCO processor.
[0092] At initialization, the code instructions of the computer program PG0 are for example loaded into a RAM memory before being executed by the processor PROCO. The processor PROCO of the processing unit UT0 implements in particular the steps of the selection method described in relation to the Figure 5 , according to the instructions of the PG0 computer program.
