[0003] The present invention relates to the field of vehicle seats. Technique antérieure
[0004] The state of the art in vehicle seats involves a seat design that requires the assembly of the various seat components at one site, typically using just-in-time manufacturing known as "JIT".
[0005] The seat structure of a motor vehicle comprises a typically metallic seat structure which conventionally comprises a seat structure and a backrest structure.
[0006] The seat structure may include: two slides, right and left G1, G2, each comprising a lower profile, typically female, fixed relative to a floor, and an upper profile, male, mounted to slide relative to the lower profile, typically in a direction X which may be the direction of travel of the vehicle, a seat structure which conventionally comprises two flanges, right and left, braced by tubes, and in particular a front tube bracing the flanges, on a front portion of the seat structure and a rear tube bracing the flanges on a rear portion of the seat structure, the front and rear tubes extending in parallel, in a transverse direction, a metal nose piece which connects the front ends of the flanges and is shaped to form a support surface for supporting the seat cushion.
[0007] The height of the seat structure, namely the assembly which includes the flanges and the nose piece, can typically be adjusted by a raising system which can include a pair of front links, right and left, connecting the front tube and the upper profiles of the right and left slides, and a pair of rear links, right and left, connecting the rear tube and the upper profiles of the right and left slides.
[0008] The seat of such a seat may further comprise a seat padding, typically made of expanded polyurethane foam, and a covering covering the foam seat padding. The seat may further comprise at least one lateral bolster formed of lateral padding, typically made of expanded polyurethane foam, for example arranged on either side of the seat padding or forming a single block with the seat padding, the whole being covered by the covering covering.
[0009] The seat of a chair tends to wear over time, which can result in wear of the upholstery / padding, or even a tear in the upholstery and / or padding.
[0010] When replacing a damaged part of the seat, it is generally necessary to dismantle the entire seat as best as possible, or this operation is often carried out after removing the entire seat from the vehicle.
[0011] We also know from the state of the art a modular design of the seat which includes a support base, often plastic, padding and a covering element, which can be pre-assembled, often on a site separate from the final assembly site, typically at a more competitive labor cost.
[0012] Final assembly is achieved by attaching the modular seat cushion, a single-piece element, to the seat frame of the seat, quickly during final assembly. During maintenance, for example when a component of the seat is worn, it is possible to remove the entire seat module and replace it with a new seat module. According to the inventors' findings, while such a solution is particularly satisfactory during final assembly due to optimized manufacturing time during final assembly, it requires, during maintenance, the complete seat module to be replaced, even if only part of the module is damaged.
[0013] Document US2020070699 provides a solution to this problem, by a divided design of the seat module and the backrest module, each module (seat or backrest) being composed of three parts, consisting of a main part and two lateral parts, arranged on either side of the central part. As developed in paragraph 118 of this document US2020070699, the advantage of such a divided design is to be able, during maintenance, to change only one segment of the seat (or backrest), at low cost. This maintenance solution is in fact less expensive compared to the aforementioned state of the art requiring the replacement of the complete seat module.According to the inventors' findings, this solution is however not entirely satisfactory, particularly during final assembly, in that it requires the assembly of numerous module segments on the seat structure, particularly for the seat, which increases the manufacturing cycle time of the seat at the final assembly site.
[0014] The present invention improves the situation. Résumé
[0015] There is thus provided a modular seat cushion configured to be fixed to a seat structure, said seat structure being configured to removably fix said modular seat cushion, said modular seat cushion comprises in the assembled state: a main base having a lower surface configured to be fixed on said seat structure, a central padding resting on an upper surface of the main base and forming a central portion, a central upholstery covering covering the central padding, at least one modular side bolster removably fixed on the main base and comprising in the assembled state: a side base, a side padding resting on an upper surface of the side base and forming a raised edge, a side upholstery covering covering the side padding, the modular cushion comprising a mechanical interface system between the main base and the side base, said modular cushion being configured to allow the disassembly of the modular side bolster from the main base independently of the central padding and the central upholstery covering which remain fixed to the main base.
[0016] Thus, advantageously, such a configuration of a modular seat cushion comprising at least one modular lateral bolster allows rapid assembly on a seat structure, in that the modular seat cushion, a single-piece component, in the assembled state can be quickly fixed to the metal structure of the seat, in particular by forming all the segments of the seat, namely not only the central portion typically forming the medallion of the seat, but also the two lateral parts. The two lateral parts, typically higher along a vertical component relative to the central portion, have the function of ensuring lateral support of the occupant on the seat. Such a configuration also facilitates maintenance of the seat, and without it being necessary to dismantle the structure of the seat from the floor of a vehicle.

[0018] The present invention was born in particular from the observation by the inventors that the lateral segment of the seat is very often the segment of the seat which wears out most quickly, and typically more quickly than the central segment of the seat. The present invention thus allows the changing of this rapidly wearing segment only, without it being necessary to change the central portion of the seat, and in particular the central padding and the central upholstery covering which remain fixed to the main base, itself fixed to a seat structure.
[0019] In one or more embodiments, the mechanical interface system comprises: a rear mechanical interface comprising a first coupling portion on the main base and a second coupling portion on the lateral base, said first coupling portion and said second coupling portion cooperating by interlocking, a front mechanical interface comprising a first locking portion on the main base and a second locking portion on the lateral base, and wherein the rear mechanical interface and the front mechanical interface are configured to allow the modular side bolster to be attached to the main base as follows: / A / fit the first and second coupling parts, / B / pivot said modular bolster around the rear mechanical interface until the first locking part is joined with the second locking part.
[0020] In one or more embodiments, the first locking portion and the second locking portion elastically engage upon pivoting at B / .
[0021] In one or more embodiments, the first locking part comprises a striker and the second locking part comprises a latch, the latch and the striker being placed opposite each other at the end of pivoting at B / , and in which locking of the modular side bolster on the main base is obtained following: / C / engaging the latch in the striker.
[0022] In one or more embodiments, the first locking portion and the second locking portion are secured together by a screw-nut system.

Description des modes de réalisation
[0030] THE figures 1a à 1d illustrate a seating assembly comprising a modular seat cushion and at least one modular side bolster.
[0031] In particular, the figure 1a illustrates a seat structure comprising a seat structure and a backrest structure, the figure 1b illustrates a seating structure comprising a modular seat cushion and at least one modular side bolster, the figure 3c illustrates the side base of the modular side bolster, and the figure 1d illustrates a schematic sectional view of a modular seat cushion comprising a modular seat bolster.
[0032] In reference to the figures 1a , 1b And1d , the present invention may relate to a seat assembly comprising a modular seat cushion 120, configured to be fixed to a seat structure 100 having a seat structure 100a and possibly a backrest structure 100b. The seat structure may comprise two lateral flanges 110 braced by a front tube 113, transverse, and a rear tube 115, transverse, and which is configured to removably fix the modular seat cushion 120.
[0033] Furthermore, the modular seat cushion 120 may comprise in the assembled state at least the following components: a main base 120a (or central) having a lower surface configured to be fixed to the seat structure 100a, a central padding 120b resting on an upper surface SP1 of the main base and forming a central portion, a central upholstery covering 120c covering the central padding, typically being fixed to the main base 120a, at least one modular lateral bolster 130 removably fixed to the main base 120a.
[0034] The main base 120a may be made of plastic material, for example thermoplastic, and may be a body, preferably thin, which extends from a rear edge Bar to a front edge Bav typically in the X direction (longitudinal direction), and from a first lateral edge BL1 to a second lateral edge BL2 in the Y direction (transverse direction). The main base may typically be a body molded in one piece, typically by injection molding techniques.
[0035] The profile of the body, seen along a section passing through a plane XZ, can be a rising profile, in normal conditions of use of the vehicle seat, when moving from the rear edge Bar, and towards the front edge Bav, in particular up to the front edge of the body. Such a rising profile ensures support for the hips of the user seated in the seat, limiting the risks of submarining in the event of a frontal impact.
[0036] The profile of the body, seen along a section passing through a plane YZ, can be concave, the first lateral edge BL1, and the second lateral edge BL2 being raised along the Z direction, relative to the body between the two lateral edges BL1, BL2.
[0037] Furthermore, the main base 120a may comprise a suspension system 140 typically provided on the main base 120a between the first lateral edge BL1 and the second lateral edge BL2 of the body.
[0038] In one or more embodiments, the suspension system 140 may be obtained during injection molding, and may consist of an elastic portion 141 perforated from the base, typically extending, on the base, between the first lateral edge BL1 and the second lateral edge BL2 close to the rear edge Bar compared to the front edge Bav, namely that the suspension system is located, in particular along the X direction, closer to the rear edge Bar than to the front edge Bav.
[0039] In one or more embodiments, the main base 120a may include a suspension system 140 that typically extends across the main base between a first side edge and a second side edge of the body.
[0040] Furthermore, the central padding 120b may further comprise a central portion 120b0, a fixed rear portion 120b1, and a movable front portion 120b2. The rear portion 120b1 is fixed to the base 120a while a slide system 128 may be provided between the main base 120a and the front portion 120b2. This slide system makes it possible to move the front portion 120b2 of the central portion 120b0 forward or backward relative to the rear portion 120b1.
[0041] The modular cushion may still include in the assembled state, all or part of the following components: an electric heating mat 125, resistive, and / or an electric ventilation system 126, configured to blow air through vents in said base, and / or a massage system 127, comprising one or more mechanical actuators.
[0042] The modular side bolster 130 can be arranged on one of the sides of the central padding, in the transverse direction Y, and has the function of ensuring lateral support for the occupant, the modular side bolster can comprise in the assembled state: a side base 130a, a side padding 130b resting on an upper surface SP2 of the side base and forming a raised edge, a side covering 130c covering the side padding and typically fixed to the side base, in all or part of the periphery of the side base.
[0043] As illustrated in figure 1d , the padding or coverings are configured to be independent for each base (main or lateral), the padding providing the softness and comfort of the seat, and can be in a material such as expanded polyurethane foam. This independence facilitates and improves the maintenance of the seat by avoiding the need to dismantle unworn parts during replacement. For example, when replacing a modular lateral bolster, it is not necessary to remove the covering and / or the central padding.
[0044] In one or more embodiments, the side base may be configured such that the bottom surface SF2 of the side base is in physical contact, in the assembled state, with the top surface SP1 of the main base. Further, the shape of the bottom surface SF2 of the side base may be configured to match or complement the shape of the top surface SP1 of the main base.
[0045] The side base 130a may be made of a plastic material, for example thermoplastic, and may be a body, preferably thin, which extends from the rear edge Bar to the front edge Bav, and from a first side edge of the main base to a second side edge of the main base. The side base may typically be a body molded in one piece, typically by injection molding techniques.
[0046] In reference to the figure 1b And figure 1c , the lower surface SF2 of the lateral base may further comprise a plurality of alignment members 170a configured to fit, in the assembled state, with a plurality of alignment housings 170b arranged on the upper surface SP1 of the main base, thus participating in maintaining the lateral base on the main base in a transverse plane.
[0047] Furthermore, in one or more embodiments, the lateral base may comprise a peripheral edge having a groove 180 and the lateral covering may comprise a hooking system, such as a hooking profile, arranged along the end of the lateral covering, the hooking system, in particular the hooking profile, configured to penetrate the groove 180 by hooking it in order to ensure the maintenance of the lateral covering to the lateral base, the lateral covering covering the lateral padding by ensuring its maintenance on said lateral base.
[0048] In one or more preferred embodiments, the modular seat cushion may comprise two modular side bolsters arranged on each side of the central portion (and / or the central padding), both removably attached, independently to the main base 120a (or central base). According to such an embodiment, the two bolsters are modular components in that they are removable by being removed during maintenance, advantageously without disassembly of the main base from the seat structure, and while at least the central padding and the central covering remain attached to the main base.
[0049] According to a second possible embodiment, the modular seat cushion may comprise a single modular seat bolster, fixed in a removable and independent manner to the main base, on a first side of the central padding, the other seat bolster, on a second side of the central padding (opposite the first side), comprising a lateral padding resting directly on the main base fixed by the central base by the central covering which extends not only over the central portion of the padding, but also over the lateral padding, on this second side.
[0050] In such an embodiment, the central padding and the lateral padding of the (non-modular) side bolster on the second side may comprise a single-piece padding which successively forms, along the transverse direction Y, the lateral bolster (non-modular) and the central portion of the padding or alternatively, two independent paddings which respectively form, along the transverse direction Y, the lateral bolster (non-modular) and the central portion of the padding.
[0051] According to this second possible embodiment, only the modular seat bolster on the first side can be removed during maintenance without disassembly of the main base to the seat structure. The modular seat bolster on this first side is typically arranged in a vehicle, on the side near a door of the vehicle, in that it is typically the bolster that wears out most quickly when the user enters and exits the vehicle.
[0052] In addition, the modular cushion may include a mechanical interface system between the main base 120a and the side base 130a, and which may be configured to allow disassembly of the modular side bolster from the main base, independently of the central padding and the central upholstery covering.
[0053] There figure 2a illustrates a first example of a mechanical interface system, and the figure 2b schematically illustrates the methodology for installing a modular side bolster on a modular seat cushion comprising a mechanical interface system according to the figure 2a .
[0054] The main base 120a may comprise a longitudinal direction X, and the mechanical interface system may comprise: a rear mechanical interface 210 comprising a first coupling portion 210a on the main base and a second coupling portion 210b on the lateral base, the first coupling portion and the second coupling portion being able to cooperate by interlocking, a front mechanical interface 220 comprising a first locking portion on the main base and a second locking portion on the lateral base.
[0055] The rear mechanical interface and the front mechanical interface can be configured to allow the attachment of the modular side bolster to the following main base: / A / fit the first and second coupling parts, / B / pivot said modular bolster around the rear mechanical interface until the first locking part is joined with the second locking part.
[0056] Thus, the installation and fixing of the modular seat cushion to the seat structure as well as at least one modular bolster according to the present invention is quick, safe and preferably carried out without tools, in particular for steps / A / and / B / allowing at least one modular side bolster to be fixed.
[0057] In one or more embodiments, the main base 120a may be a body obtained by injection molding, and in which the first coupling part and the first locking part are arranged integrally with the body during injection molding. Similarly, the side base 130a may be a body obtained by injection molding, and in which the second coupling part and the second locking part are arranged integrally with the body during injection molding.
[0058] For example, the first coupling portion 210a may be arranged on a rear portion of the main base and may comprise a plurality of locking members, for example in the form of an inverted U, secured to the rear portion of the main base. The second coupling portion 210b may be arranged on a rear portion of the lateral base, and may comprise a plurality of hooks secured to the rear portion of the lateral base and which are configured to lock onto the plurality of locking members. Each hook may comprise a base 210b1 comprising a first free distal end 210b2 and a second distal end surmounted by a locking tooth 210b3, and the locking tooth being configured to come into contact with a surface of the locking member so as to prevent rearward movement of the modular bolster when the modular bolster is in the assembled state.
[0059] At / A / corresponding to the interlocking of the first coupling part 210a with the second coupling part 210b, the respective free distal end of each hook can be inserted into the respective locking member until the locking tooth comes into contact with the surface of the locking member, the distal end being inserted at a predetermined angle of between 5 and 50 degrees in the XZ plane, and between the free distal end in the assembled state and the free distal end in contact with the surface of the locking member before pivoting.
[0060] In one or more embodiments, the first locking portion and the second locking portion may elastically engage upon pivoting at B / . The first locking portion and / or the second locking portion may elastically deform until it returns to position, in order to provide locking.
[0061] THE figures 3a à 3e illustrate different embodiments of the first and second locking parts.
[0062] According to a first embodiment presented in figure 3a , the first locking part may comprise a through opening 320a1 arranged on the upper surface of the front part of the main base (or on a front edge of the main base), and the second locking part may comprise at least one locking clip 320a2 secured to the lower surface of the front part of the lateral base and which is configured to engage in the through opening so as to fix (eg elastically) the front part of the lateral base on the front part of the main base. The locking clip 320a2 deforms elastically to pass through the through opening 320a1, before deploying, after passing through the through opening 320a1, preventing its withdrawal following a reverse movement.
[0063] According to a second embodiment presented in figure 3b et 3c , the second locking part may comprise a through opening 320b2 arranged on an edge of the front part of the lateral base, and the first locking part may comprise at least one holding clip 320b1 secured to an edge of the front part of the main base and which is configured to engage in the through opening so as to fix (eg elastically) the front part of the lateral base on the front part of the main base.
[0064] In one or more embodiments, the clip may be formed as a single piece (see figure 3c ) with the main base during injection molding.
[0065] According to a third embodiment illustrated in figure 3d , the first locking part may comprise a striker 330a1 and the second locking part may comprise a latch 330a2. The latch and the striker may be placed opposite each other at the end of pivoting at B / , and the modular side bolster may be locked onto the main base as follows: / C / engage the latch in the striker.
[0066] According to a fourth embodiment illustrated in figure 3e , the first locking part and the second locking part can be fixed together by a screw-nut system 340 for example.
[0067] There figure 4a illustrates a second example of a mechanical interface system and the figure 4b schematically illustrates the methodology for installing a modular side bolster on a modular seat cushion comprising a mechanical interface system according to the figure 4a .
[0068] In reference to the figure 4a et 4b , the main base may comprise a longitudinal direction X, and the mechanical interface system may comprise a plurality of first coupling portions 410 arranged on the lateral base and a plurality of second coupling portions 420 arranged on the main base.
[0069] For example, the first coupling portions 410 may be arranged on the lower surface of the side base, and more particularly along the inner edge of the lower surface of the side base.
[0070] The first coupling parts and the second coupling parts can be configured to fit together (e.g. elastically), the mechanical interface system can be configured to allow the modular side bolster to be fixed to the following modular seat cushion: / E / align the first coupling parts with said second coupling parts respectively, / F / vertically translate the modular side bolster until the first coupling parts fit together with said second coupling parts
[0071] For example, the plurality of first coupling portions may include a plurality of clips 410 secured to the inner edge of the inner surface of said side base, the plurality of clips extending perpendicularly from said inner edge. The plurality of second coupling portions may include a plurality of locking housings 420 arranged on the upper surface of the main base.
[0072] Each clip can be configured to fit together (e.g. elastically), in the assembled state of the modular side bolster, with a respective locking housing arranged on the upper surface of the main base.
[0073] The present invention further relates to a method of obtaining a seat assembly according to the present invention comprising the following steps: providing a seat structure 100, in the assembled state, comprising a seat structure and a backrest structure, providing a modular seat cushion according to the present invention comprising in the assembled state at least one main base having a lower surface configured to be fixed on said seat structure, a central padding resting on an upper surface of the main base and forming a central portion, a central upholstery covering covering the central padding, but also at least one modular lateral bolster removably fixed on the main base, said at least one modular bolster comprising in the assembled state a lateral base, a lateral padding resting on an upper surface of the lateral base and forming a raised edge, a lateral upholstery covering covering the lateral padding, the modular cushion comprising a removable fixing system between the main base and the side base, assembly of the modular cushion to said seat structure.,
[0074] The assembly of the modular seat cushion to the seat structure may be carried out at a final assembly site, while the manufacture of the modular seat cushion itself, and in particular the assembly of its various components, may be carried out at a site separate from the final assembly site.
[0075] The manufacture of the modular seat cushion may comprise, firstly, the pre-assembly of the modular side bolster by assembling the side base, the side padding and the side covering and secondly, the pre-assembly of the central padding on the main base and the main covering covering the central padding by fixing it to the main base. The modular side bolster (or the two modular side bolsters) can then be fixed to the main base. The assembly between the modular cushion and the seat structure as well as between the modular bolster and the modular cushion, can still allow rapid disassembly, and advantageously disassembly / removal of the modular cushion and / or the modular side bolster without disassembly of the seat structure on the floor of the vehicle.
[0076] Also, the present invention further relates to a method of maintaining a seat assembly according to the present invention, comprising the disassembly of at least one modular side bolster from the main base without disassembling the modular seat cushion from the seat structure by the following implementation: / C / unlocking the side base from the main base by the mechanical interface system, and successively / D / removing at least one modular side bolster.
