The invention relates to a fastening element (12) for attaching a support device (26) designed to support a cooking carrier to a horizontal rod (16) with a longitudinal extension area (18) extending in the longitudinal extension direction (20) of the rod (16) and an end area (24) extending at an angle to the longitudinal extension area (18), with a fastening area (30) for clamping around the end area (24) of the rod (16), wherein the fastening element (12), which in the installed position of the fastening element (12) is supported in the vertical direction (28) downwards on the longitudinal extension area (18) and the end area (24) of the rod (16), is free of a part that in the installed position of the fastening element (12) overlaps the longitudinal extension area (18) of the rod (16) in the vertical direction (28) downwards.
