Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to an electromotively adjustable support device for supporting the upholstery of a piece of seating and / or reclining furniture, in particular a mattress of a bed.
[0002] Such support devices, for example in the form of slatted frames, are generally known, for example from EP 1 239 754 B1 and EP 2 418 984 B1. They comprise a first support part and a second support part for supporting the upholstery, wherein the support parts are pivotally adjustable relative to one another. The known support devices further comprise an electromotive drive device for adjusting the support parts relative to one another, which drive device comprises at least one electric motor and at least one output element that is translationally movable along an output axis and has at least one mechanical coupling element for the adjustment-technical coupling of the or each output element to a support part to be adjusted.
[0003] DE 10 2021 120 007 A1 discloses a support device consisting of a base part and a support part, which is intended to be inserted between a mattress and a bed base to retrofit a bed with an electric motor-driven adjustment function. For example, the support device can be arranged between a slatted frame and a mattress of the bed.
[0004] The invention is based on the object of providing a support device for the upholstery of a piece of seating and / or reclining furniture, in particular a mattress of a bed, which is improved compared to the known support devices.
[0005] This object is achieved by the invention defined in claim 1.
[0006] The invention provides that at least one plunger is mounted on or in the first support part so as to be movable along a translation axis, wherein the plunger is operatively connected on the one hand to the electromotive drive device and on the other hand to the second support part in such a way that during a translational movement of the plunger the support parts are pivotally adjusted relative to one another, and that the output axis and the translation axis are arranged at an angle to one another, in particular at an angle of 90° or approximately 90°.
[0007] According to the invention, for example, and in particular, a plunger can be accommodated in each of two hollow longitudinal beams of the first support part, which are spaced apart transversely to the longitudinal direction of the support device. The angular arrangement of the output axis and the translation axis according to the invention, in particular at an angle of 90° or approximately 90°, offers the possibility of arranging the electromotive drive device in a hollow transverse beam of the first support part, so that all components required for adjusting the support parts relative to one another can be accommodated in the first support part.
[0008] This results in a compact and at the same time aesthetically pleasing design because no components of the electric motor drive system are exposed.
[0009] The angular arrangement of the axes according to the invention also offers the possibility of adjusting the support parts using a single electric motor, whereby the direction of the force flow is redirected and transferred to the tappets. This results in a particularly simple, cost-effective, and robust design with relatively few components.
[0010] A particular advantage of the support device according to the invention is that it has a low overall height and is therefore particularly suitable for being arranged between a mattress and a base of a bed in order to retrofit a bed with an electromotive adjustment functionality.
[0011] The structure of the support parts can be selected within wide limits according to the respective requirements and circumstances. An advantageous development of the invention provides that the first support part has two longitudinal beams spaced apart from one another transversely to the longitudinal direction of the support device. A corresponding structure with two longitudinal beams is preferred, whereby the first support part can in principle also have only a single longitudinal beam or more than two longitudinal beams.
[0012] An advantageous development of the aforementioned embodiment provides that a plunger movable along an associated translation axis is arranged in or on each of the two longitudinal beams, wherein each plunger is operatively connected, on the one hand, to the output element(s) of the electromotive drive device and, on the other hand, to the second support part for adjusting the support parts relative to one another. In this embodiment, a plunger is guided in or on each longitudinal beam, so that the adjusting force for adjusting the support parts relative to one another is introduced into the first support part symmetrically to the longitudinal center plane of the support device. In this way, twisting of the support parts during adjustment is avoided.
[0013] An exceptionally advantageous development of the invention provides that at least one longitudinal beam is hollow, at least in sections, and defines a cavity in which the associated plunger is received and movably guided along the associated translation axis. Due to the accommodation of the plunger(s) in the longitudinal beam(s), the plungers are not exposed, thus preventing a user from touching moving parts in the support device.
[0014] An advantageous development of the aforementioned embodiment provides that the plungers are operatively connected to a common output member of the electric motor drive device in such a way that, when the output member moves along the output axis, the plungers are moved in the same direction along the respective translation axis. This results in a particularly simple design with relatively few components.
[0015] However, if desired or necessary depending on the respective requirements and circumstances, the electromotive drive device can also have two or more output elements. An advantageous development of the invention provides that the electromotive drive device has two output elements, each of which is operatively connected to one of the plungers in such a way that, when the output elements move along the output axis, the plungers are moved in the same direction along the respective associated translation axis.
[0016] A gear mechanism is expediently arranged between at least one output element of the electric motor drive device and at least one tappet. A corresponding design of the gear mechanism allows the adjustment force to be applied when adjusting the support parts relative to one another to be adapted to the respective conditions.
[0017] In the aforementioned embodiment, the gear mechanism can be designed in different ways. An advantageous further development of the invention provides for the gear mechanism to be designed as a lever mechanism. Such lever mechanisms are simple and robust in construction and allow for adjustment of the adjusting force within wide limits when designing the support device with relatively little design effort.
[0018] In order to achieve a particularly simple construction in the aforementioned embodiment and at the same time to enable a deflection of the adjusting force from the output member or the output members in the electromotive drive device into the tappets, an advantageous further development of the invention provides that the lever mechanism has a two-armed first lever mounted on a pivot point about a rotation axis, whose first lever arm is pivotally connected to one end of a second lever, whose other end is operatively connected to the associated coupling element, in particular pivotally connected to the associated coupling element, and whose second lever arm cooperates with the associated plunger to adjust the support parts relative to one another.
[0019] The operative connection between the first lever and the plunger can be established in different ways depending on the respective requirements and circumstances. In the interests of a simple design, an advantageous development of the invention provides that the lever mechanism has a third lever, one end of which is pivotally connected to the second lever arm of the first lever and the other end of which is pivotally connected to the plunger.
[0020] In order to keep the overall height of the support device particularly low, an advantageous further development of the aforementioned embodiment provides that the axis of rotation of the first lever is arranged perpendicular or approximately perpendicular to a plane spanned by the output axis and the translation axis.
[0021] The electric motor drive device can be designed in different ways depending on the respective requirements and circumstances. An advantageous development of the invention provides that the electric motor drive device has a spindle drive with a threaded spindle and a spindle nut mounted on the threaded spindle. Corresponding spindle drives are available as relatively simple and cost-effective standard assemblies and are robust.
[0022] An advantageous development of the aforementioned embodiment provides that the spindle nut is or can be connected to an electric motor of the electromotive drive device for rotational drive. The threaded spindle is mounted in a rotationally secure manner and movable in its axial direction, forming the output member of the electromotive drive device. In this embodiment, the threaded spindle can carry a coupling element at two locations spaced apart from one another in its axial direction for the adjustment-related coupling of the threaded spindle to two tappets.
[0023] Another advantageous development of the invention provides that the first support part has at least one cross member, which is hollow at least in sections and defines a cavity in which the electric motor drive device, including the electric motor, is accommodated. In this way, the electric motor drive device is accommodated in the cross member, so that no components of the drive device are exposed.
[0024] According to another advantageous development of the invention, the support parts are connected to one another in such a way that in a starting position of the adjustment movement they span a substantially horizontal support plane and in an end position of the adjustment movement they are arranged at an angle to one another.
[0025] The force transmission during the adjustment of the support parts relative to one another can be achieved in different ways depending on the respective requirements and circumstances. An advantageous development of the invention provides that the end of each plunger facing the second support part interacts with a contact surface of a cam body that is attached to or formed on the second support part. The contact surface is shaped such that, upon a translational movement of the plunger, the support parts are pivotally adjusted relative to one another. The shape of the contact surface defines the kinematics of the adjustment movement.
[0026] The number of support parts of the support device can be selected within wide limits according to the respective requirements and circumstances. An advantageous development of the invention provides that the support device is designed in two parts with respect to the support parts and consists of the first support part and the second support part. This embodiment is particularly preferred when the support device is intended to be arranged between a base and a mattress of a bed in order to provide electromotive adjustment functionality.
[0027] A piece of furniture according to the invention is specified in claim 18 and has a support device according to the invention.
[0028] Claim 19 specifies a bed according to the invention which has a base and an upholstery device, in particular a mattress, placed on the base and is characterized in that a support device according to the invention is arranged between the base and the upholstery device.
[0029] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the attached, highly schematic drawing using an exemplary embodiment. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the individual features of an exemplary embodiment further develop the exemplary embodiment, each taken individually, i.e., independently of the other features. It will therefore also be apparent to those skilled in the art that all of the features described, illustrated in the drawing, and claimed in the patent claims, taken individually and in any technically reasonable combination with one another, constitute the subject matter of the invention, regardless of their summary in the patent claims and their references, as well as regardless of their specific description or representation in the drawing. The subject matter and disclosure content of the present application also includes sub-combinations of the patent claims in which at least one feature of a patent claim is omitted or replaced by another feature.
[0030] It shows: Fig. 1 in a schematic perspective view of an embodiment of a support device according to the invention in a starting position of the adjustment movement, in which a first support part and a second support part span a substantially horizontal support plane, Fig. 2 in the same representation as Fig. 1 the support device according to Fig. 1 , whereby to clarify the structure of an electromotive drive device of the support device, components of the first support part are omitted, Fig. 2 A in the same representation as Fig. 2 a detail from Fig. 2 , Fig. 3 in the same representation as Fig. 2 the support device according to Fig. 2 , wherein further components of the first support part are omitted, Fig. 4 a detail of Fig. 3 in the area of a tappet, Fig. 5 in a side view a detail of Fig. 4 to illustrate the interaction of the plunger with a contact surface of a cam body formed on the second support part, Fig. 6 in the same representation as Fig. 1 the support device according to Fig. 1 in an end position of the adjustment movement, in which the support parts are pivoted to the maximum relative to each other, Fig. 7 a detail from Fig. 6 in the area of the electromotive drive device, whereby components of the first support part are omitted, Fig. 8 in the same representation as Fig. 6 the support device according to Fig. 6 , whereby components of the first support part are omitted and Fig. 9 in a similar representation as Fig. 5 the detail according to Fig. 5 in the end position of the adjustment movement.
[0031] The following is based on reference to Fig. 1 bis Fig. 9 An embodiment of a support device according to the invention is explained in more detail. For the sake of clarity and to simplify the representation, certain components have been omitted from certain figures of the drawing. The omitted components are to be added in the relevant figures in a conceptual manner.
[0032] In Fig. 1 An embodiment of an electromotively adjustable support device 2 according to the invention for supporting the upholstery of a piece of seating and / or reclining furniture, in particular a mattress of a bed, is shown, which has a first support part 4 and a second support part 6 for supporting the upholstery. The support parts 4, 6 are pivotable about a horizontal pivot axis 8 (cf. Fig. 2 ) can be pivoted relative to each other.
[0033] From a comparison of Fig. 1 , in which the starting position of the adjustment movement is shown, with Fig. 5 , in which the end position of the adjustment movement is shown, it can be seen that the support parts 4, 6 are connected to one another in such a way that in the starting position of the adjustment movement they form a substantially horizontal support plane and in the end position of the adjustment movement they are arranged at an angle to one another.
[0034] The support device 2 further comprises an electromotive drive device 10 for adjusting the support parts 4, 6 relative to one another, which in the illustrated embodiment comprises a single electric motor 12.
[0035] In the illustrated embodiment, the electric motor drive device comprises a spindle drive 16 with a stationary spindle nut 18, which is connected to the output shaft of the electric motor for rotational drive. For this purpose, the output shaft of the electric motor 12 is designed as a worm, which engages with a worm gear toothing formed on the radial outer surface of the spindle nut 18 (see in particular Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 ).
[0036] The spindle nut 18 is placed on a threaded spindle 20 (cf. Fig. 3 ), which is mounted in a rotationally secure manner and is movable in its axial direction and forms the output element of the electromotive drive device 10. The output axis is thus defined by the axial direction of the threaded spindle 20 and runs perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the support device 2. The output axis is in Fig. 3 symbolized by a dotted line 21.
[0037] The threaded spindle 20 carries coupling elements 22, 24 spaced axially from each other (see in particular Fig. 3 ) for the adjustment-technical coupling of the output element of the electromotive drive device 10, i.e. in the illustrated embodiment the threaded spindle 20, to a support part to be adjusted. This adjustment-technical coupling is explained further below with reference to Fig. 3 bis Fig. 5 explained in more detail. In the illustrated embodiment, the coupling elements 22, 24 are formed by plastic blocks that are connected to the threaded spindle 20 in a manner that can withstand tensile and compressive stresses.
[0038] Power supply and control means for supplying and controlling the electric motor drive device 10 are not shown to simplify the illustration. However, the structure of corresponding power supply and control means is generally known to those skilled in the art and will therefore not be explained in detail here.
[0039] According to the invention, at least one plunger 26 is mounted on or in the first support part 4 so as to be movable along a translation axis, the translation axis running in the longitudinal direction of the support device 2 and in Fig. 3 symbolized by a dot-dash line 27. The plunger 26 is operatively connected, on the one hand, to the electromotive drive device 10 and, on the other hand, to the second support part 6 in such a way that, upon a translational movement of the plunger 26, the support parts 4, 6 are adjusted relative to each other. This will be explained further below with reference to Fig. 3 bis Fig. 5 explained in more detail.
[0040] According to the invention, the output axis 21 and the translation axis 27 are arranged at an angle to one another, namely at an angle of 90° or approximately 90° in the illustrated embodiment.
[0041] In the illustrated embodiment, the first support part 4 has two longitudinal beams 28, 30 spaced apart from one another transversely to the translation axis 7, i.e., transversely to the longitudinal direction of the support device 2. The longitudinal beams 28, 30 are connected to one another at their end facing away from the second support part 6 by a transverse beam 32. Between the transverse beam 32 and the end of the first support part 4 facing the second support part 6, plate-like further transverse beams 34 are arranged, which run between the longitudinal beams 28, 30 and of which only one further transverse beam is provided with the reference number 34 in the drawing (see Fig. 1 ).
[0042] Alternatively, the support device 2 can also be designed exclusively with a single longitudinal beam. The illustrated embodiment with two (or possibly more) longitudinal beams has the advantage of being more stable and preventing distortion of the support parts 4, 6 during adjustment.
[0043] The longitudinal beam 28 has a longitudinal member 36 in the form of a metal rail (cf. Fig. 2 ), which is provided with a cover 38. The longitudinal beam 30 is constructed accordingly and is therefore not explained in detail here. The cover 38 forms a cavity in which the plunger 26 is movably guided along the translation axis 27.
[0044] The cover 38, like the cross member 32 and the other cross members 34, can be formed by injection-molded plastic parts. In the illustrated embodiment, the cross member 32 consists of plastic half-shells 40, 42, which form a drive housing 44 for the electric motor drive device 10 (see FIG. Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 ). In Fig. 2 For the sake of clarity, the upper half shell 40 is omitted.
[0045] The basic structure of the second support part 6 corresponds, apart from the cross member 32, to that of the first support part 4 and is therefore not explained in more detail.
[0046] In the illustrated embodiment, in addition to the plunger 26, a further plunger 46 is provided, which is movably guided in a corresponding manner within the plunger 26 in a casing 48 of the longitudinal beam 30. The plungers 26, 46 are operatively connected, on the one hand, to the threaded spindle 20 as the output element of the electromotive drive device 10 and, on the other hand, to the second support part 6 for adjusting the support parts 4, 6 relative to one another. This will be explained in more detail below.
[0047] As a result, the longitudinal beams 28, 30 in the illustrated embodiment are hollow in sections and define a cavity in which the associated plunger 26, 46 is received and movably guided along the associated translation axis.
[0048] The plungers 26, 46 are operatively connected to the threaded spindle 20 as the output member of the electromotive drive device 10 in a manner explained in more detail below, such that when the threaded spindle 20 moves along the output axis 21, the plungers 26, 46 are moved in the same direction along the respectively associated translation axis.
[0049] In the illustrated embodiment, a gear is arranged in the drive train between the electric motor 12 and the tappet 26, which in the illustrated embodiment is designed as a lever gear 50.
[0050] The structure of the lever mechanism 50 is described below using Fig. 2A explained in more detail.
[0051] The lever mechanism 50 has a two-armed first lever 54 mounted on a pivot point about a rotation axis 52, whose first lever arm 56 is pivotally connected to one end of a second lever 58, whose other end, in the illustrated embodiment, is pivotally connected to the associated coupling element 22, and whose second lever arm 60 cooperates with the plunger 26 to adjust the support parts 4, 6 relative to one another.
[0052] The operative connection between the first lever and the associated coupling element 22 can also be designed in another way instead of a pivot joint connection.
[0053] In the illustrated embodiment, the first lever 54 is formed by an injection-molded plastic part.
[0054] In the illustrated embodiment, the lever mechanism 50 has a third lever 62, one end of which is pivotally connected to the second lever arm 56 of the first lever 54 and the other end of which is pivotally connected to the end of the plunger 26 facing away from the second support part 6. In the illustrated embodiment, the third lever 62 is formed by a sheet metal angle.
[0055] The adjustment-technical coupling of the tappet 56 to the coupling element 24 is effected in a corresponding manner via a further lever gear 64 (cf. in particular Fig. 3 ), the first lever of which is designated by the reference numeral 66.
[0056] Fig. 5 clarifies the adjustment-technical coupling of the plunger 26 to the second support part 6. The end of the plunger 26 facing the second support part interacts with a contact surface of a cam body 70, which in the illustrated embodiment is integrally formed on the second support part 6, wherein the contact surface 68 is shaped such that upon a translational movement of the plunger 26, the support parts 4, 6 are pivotally adjusted relative to each other. The position of the force application point of the plunger 24 on the contact surface 68 is selected relative to the pivot axis 8 such that the plunger 24 is in the Fig. 5 The starting position of the adjustment movement shown is not at a dead center. It can be seen that the plunger 26 is loosely pressing the contact surface 68.
[0057] The adjustment-technical coupling of the tappet 46 to the second support part 6 is carried out in a corresponding manner and is therefore not explained in more detail: The functioning of the support device 2 according to the invention is as follows: Starting from the Fig. 1 In the initial position of the adjustment movement shown, the electric motor 10 drives the spindle nut 18 in such a way that the threaded spindle 20 is in Fig. 2 from bottom to top. The first lever 54 (see Fig. 2A ) around the rotation axis 52 in Fig. 2A pivoted clockwise so that the third lever 62 is pressed in the direction of the second support part 6 and accordingly the plunger 26 presses with its free end against the contact surface 68.
[0058] Upon further movement of the threaded spindle 20, the free end of the plunger 26 slides along the contact surface 68, so that due to the curved shape of the cross section of the contact surface 68, the first support part 4 is pivoted relative to the second support part 6 about the pivot axis 8 until the Fig. 6 The end position of the adjustment movement shown is reached.
[0059] The same applies to the plunger 46.
[0060] Due to the double-ended pivot connection of the third lever 62 to the first lever 54 on the one hand and the plunger 46 on the other hand, the third lever 62 performs a slight angular movement during the adjustment movement.
[0061] The pivotal connection of the second lever 58 to the coupling element and the third lever 62 to the second lever 58 on the one hand and to the plunger 26 on the other hand creates a force transmission connection between the respective components that can withstand tensile and compressive loads. Instead of a pivotal connection, other force transmission connections between the components that can withstand tensile and compressive loads are also possible.
[0062] The provision from the Fig. 6 shown end position into the Fig. 1 The starting position shown occurs when the drive device 10 is switched on, but under the weight of the first support part 4 or the weight of a person resting on the support device 2.
[0063] The invention provides a support device 2 which is of simple construction and suitable for applying large adjustment forces.
[0064] A particular advantage of the support device 2 according to the invention is that all movable components required for implementing an electromotive adjustment function are integrated into the support device 2. Its beams 28, 30, and 32 are hollow in sections and accommodate the plungers 26, 46 or the components of the electromotive drive device 10, including gears 50, 66 and electric motor 12. This ensures a "tidy" aesthetic appearance of the support device 2 and prevents a user of the support device 2 from injuring themselves on movable components. Furthermore, the support device 2 has a low overall height.
[0065] Depending on the respective requirements and circumstances, the support device 2 according to the invention can be designed in three or more parts with respect to the support parts. In the illustrated embodiment, the support device 2 is designed in two parts with respect to the support parts and thus consists exclusively of the first support part 4 and the second support part 6.
[0066] A corresponding embodiment is particularly suitable for retrofitting beds with an electromotive adjustment function. For this purpose, the support device 2 is pushed or inserted between a mattress and a base of a bed, for example a slatted frame, in particular in the area of the head end of the bed. By adjusting the support parts 4, 6 relative to one another, an electromotive adjustment function can be implemented using simple means and without mechanical intervention in the base of the bed, by means of which the mattress can be raised, for example, in the area of the head end in order to convert the bed from a lying position to a sitting position. In a corresponding manner, the support device 2 can also be positioned in the area of the foot end of a bed if, for example, it is desirable for medical reasons to raise the legs of a person resting on the support device.
