Description

[0001] Storage device for a cargo space of a motor vehicle

[0002] The invention relates to a storage device for a loading space of a motor vehicle according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

[0003] In the cargo spaces of motor vehicles, especially passenger cars, it has so far been difficult to safely stow small or less resilient objects while fully utilizing the entire cargo space. To address this, the cargo space, or a portion of it, is segmented accordingly. Furthermore, it is important to provide visibility and protection for the cargo, with securing all objects in the cargo space also playing a key role. For example, shelf-like systems and roller blind systems that allow for a certain load capacity are preferred for segmentation.

[0004] DE 100 28 735 A1 already discloses a frame that can be used in a trunk, especially temporarily. The size of the frame is adapted for horizontal alignment within the trunk opening so that the frame encloses the trunk opening as completely as possible. Individual components can be inserted into the frame as desired. Together with the inserts inserted into the frame, a horizontal cover of the trunk is created. The cover also serves to divide the trunk into two stacked, separately loadable areas.

[0005] US 6 231 096 B1 discloses a load compartment cover for a load compartment of a motor vehicle, in particular a station wagon, comprising at least one inherently rigid cover element which, in an approximately horizontal cover position approximately parallel to the load compartment floor, separates the load compartment from the vehicle passenger compartment and can be pivoted upward about a pivot axis from the cover position into an unloading position. The pivot axis of the cover element extends approximately in the vehicle's longitudinal direction. Two cover elements are provided which can be pivoted about corresponding pivot axes of hinges which extend along lateral sides of the load compartment. The hinges are detachable, and the cover elements are configured to form a portable case when removed from the vehicle.

[0006] From US 7 762 602 B2 a device for stowing objects in a cargo space of a motor vehicle is known, comprising a storage container which can be mounted in the cargo space of the motor vehicle, wherein the storage container has a support surface and an at least partially deformable wall, wherein the height of the wall can be changed at least in sections by an adjusting device comprising at least one winding shaft, the adjusting device has at least one releasable fixing device and a rotary movement of the at least one winding shaft can be blocked for transport by the releasable fixing device, so that at least an extension of the wall is prevented during transport, and / or the adjusting device comprises a pull-out limiting device by which a maximum pull-out movement of the at least one winding shaft is limited.

[0007] Other relevant publications are GB 2 519 426 A1, US 4 479675 A1 and DE 29819 322 U1.

[0008] The object of the invention is to further develop a storage device in such a way that practical use of the entire cargo space is possible, particularly on two levels. This object is achieved according to the invention by a storage device having the features of patent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments with favorable further developments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

[0009] One aspect of the invention relates to a storage device for a cargo space of a motor vehicle, in particular a passenger car. The storage device comprises a frame dividing the cargo space, on which frame further components for configuring the storage device are arranged and / or can be arranged. The frame can be pivoted about a pivot axis from a substantially horizontal position into an angled position. A length and a width of the frame substantially correspond to the width and depth of the cargo space, whereby the frame, in the horizontal position, provides a second level within the cargo space in addition to a floor of the cargo space. The frame thus extends between the respective side walls as well as between the rear seat bench and a rear door of the motor vehicle. This makes it possible to divide the loading space vertically, allowing cargo to be stored both on the floor of the loading space and on the level provided by the frame, depending on the design. The components of the storage device can be arranged on the frame or are already arranged there, depending on the user's wishes, whereby the frame is provided with at least one floor-shaped surface on which a cargo item can be placed. By separating the loading space, the volume of the loading space is divided into two spaces, making it possible to stack multiple cargo items on both levels and in both spaces separately from one another. In particular, the storage device is located in a central region of the height of the loading space, thus ensuring that the field of vision for a driver of the motor vehicle is not impaired. In other words, the storage device represents a central area of the loading space. To releasably attach the storage device, it has, for example, connecting elements formed by respective pins and corresponding openings, which in particular enable the frame and thus the storage device to be snapped into place or fastened to the side walls of the cargo area. It is important that a mechanism of the connecting elements allows the storage device to be removed from the cargo area again as desired.

[0010] In order to achieve the object of the invention, the frame is provided with a cover which can be folded about a folding axis and by means of hinge elements and which can be moved between a position arranged at an angle to the frame and a storage position supported on the frame. In this storage position, the cover is designed for depositing transported goods in the horizontal position of the frame. In other words, the cover is designed to interact with the frame and interact with at least one crossbeam of the frame in the horizontal position of the frame for depositing the transported goods. The frame has at least one crossbeam which extends in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle from front to rear and is in particular in a central region of the frame. The crossbeam stabilizes the frame and enables a higher load-bearing capacity, as the weight of the goods being transported on the storage device is thus more evenly distributed. The lid is attached to a front edge of the frame in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle using hinge elements, so that the lid can be rotated upwards around the folding axis. This allows a user standing in front of the cargo area to ergonomically lift the lid and gain access to the interior of the storage device. When the lid is closed, it rests on the crossbeam and the frame, so that the load of the goods being transported is distributed evenly. The flexibility of the lid depends on the number of crossbeams and the material of the lid. Depending on the OEM's specifications, the design of the frame and the design of the lid can be used to stabilize the lid and thus achieve a higher load-bearing capacity.Furthermore, it is provided that the connecting elements are designed as a pair of lock latches with corresponding pins on the respective side walls, which can be engaged with one another and which form the pivot axis. In other words, the pair is formed by respective lock latches arranged on the frame and corresponding pins arranged on the respective side walls, wherein the lock latches can be engaged with the respective pins and thus form the pivot axis. A lock latch with a corresponding pin enables, above all, quick and easy engagement of the connecting elements, so that a user can quickly and easily secure the storage device in the cargo space.Furthermore, it is provided that the frame can be pushed into the respective lateral support surfaces on the respective side walls in a rear area in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle until the connecting elements click into place, and can be laid down on these in the horizontal position. In this case, it is provided that the respective side walls are designed such that they form the support surfaces which in particular hold the load of the storage device. For example, the support surfaces are made of a soft material in order to prevent scratches and damage, for example, and to enable the storage device to be pushed in. The storage device can thus be pushed in by means of the frame onto the support surfaces until the connecting elements click into place. This provides assistance for the user in pushing the storage device in more easily. It is also possible to use the side walls to distribute the weight of the storage unit and the objects resting on it along the side walls. It is also possible to add rolling elements, for example, to the frame or storage unit to at least partially simplify the sliding movement of the storage unit until it clicks into place.

[0011] An advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the lid has at least one additional hinged surface with its own folding axis and respective hinge elements. This surface can thus be regarded as a second lid on the original lid, which can be hinged independently of the original lid. This makes it possible to make a smaller section of the storage device accessible without having to open the entire lid. For example, transport goods can be placed on the lid without resting on the hinged surface, thus enabling the surface and the second lid to be opened or folded up. A user can therefore access the objects inside the storage device without having to move the said transport goods. In particular, it is provided that the folding axis of the hinged surface extends along a longitudinal extension direction of the lid and is formed essentially axially to the folding axis of the lid. The distance between the two folding axes defines the width of the hinged surface, whereby a storage area can be defined depending on the application and specifications by the OEM. The storage area and the hinged surface, when combined, essentially make up the entire surface of the lid. Finally, it is also possible to provide a plurality of hinged surfaces with respective folding axes and hinge elements, whereby the lid is segmented and respective surfaces become accessible to the user.

[0012] In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the frame has a continuous projection on the inner circumference, which projection forms a support surface for the lid with the at least one crossbeam. The projection is formed at a predetermined height, which corresponds in particular to the height of the crossbeam. This results in the support surface on which the lid rests when closed. The thickness of the lid corresponds to a height difference between the height of the frame and the height of the crossbeam. According to the invention, it is provided that the lid rests on the support surface and thus an upper plane of the lid forms part of the surface formed by the frame. This means that the lid thus forms part of the support surface of the storage device and the interaction of the frame and the crossbeam with the lid forms the storage area for the transported goods.

[0013] In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that a handle for carrying the storage device is formed on the frame. The handle can be formed, for example, by an arch made of the same material arranged on the frame, whereby the frame with the arch provides an opening through which a user's hand can grasp the storage device. The arch extends into the space of the storage device so that the frame continues to rest against the tailgate on the outer circumference. In particular, the height of the handle corresponds to the height of the frame, with the lid being formed with a recess corresponding to the handle. This also results in a continuous support surface on the storage device. Furthermore, it is also possible to design further similar handles analogous to the handle in order to improve the handling of the storage device.

[0014] Furthermore, a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention is one in which the lid has a locking device. This ensures that the lid does not open when adjusted to the angled position, preventing all objects from falling out of the storage device. Likewise, the locking device ensures that when the storage device is dismantled, the user can remove it from the cargo space without the objects inside falling out. Finally, the locking device allows dangerous tools or substances to be locked away, which, for example, provides child protection.

[0015] A further embodiment of the invention has proven advantageous in which the frame can be releasably fastened in the angular position to the respective side walls by means of respective fastening elements. The fastening elements are designed as pins which are arranged on the respective side walls and protrude from a respective plane of the side walls. The storage device is rotated forwards accordingly about the pivot axis, with the fastening elements stopping further rotation by a predetermined angle and providing support for the storage device. Thus, although the storage device can be folded forwards, it is not held, for example, by the backrest of a rear seat bench, but rather by the fastening elements. It is also possible to attach fastening elements to different areas of the respective side walls, whereby the angle of the angular position can be varied. In particular, the fastening elements are detachable so that the user can remove them as desired. It is also possible to attach such fastening elements to the storage device, in particular to the frame, wherein the side walls have corresponding receptacles for these fastening elements. In other words, the storage device is designed such that it can rotate upwards about the pivot axis and can thus be pivoted into the angular position. In order to releasably fasten the storage device in the angular position, the fastening elements of the storage device are designed to releasably fasten the storage device in the angular position by means of receptacles on the respective side walls. By pivoting or folding the storage device from the horizontal position into the angular position, it is possible to utilize the entire height of the loading space.By pivoting it into the horizontal position, the cargo space is divided accordingly. In particular, the storage device is designed so that, when tilted, it does not impair the driver's field of vision.

[0016] In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, at least one insert and a base are arranged on the frame. In particular, the two components are detachably fastened to the frame, with various connection options being possible, for example screw elements, Velcro fasteners and / or others. The base is fastened to the frame, for example, by means of screw elements, so that it supports various objects that are inserted into or placed in the storage device. The at least one insert is inserted into a volume created by a height of the frame and the base, with its main function being to provide small spaces within the volume in which various objects can be stored. The design of such an insert can vary such that, for example, carrying cases, tools and / or other objects can be fastened therein. It is also possible to insert various inserts of different shapes into the frame and the floor, allowing the storage device to be used as desired. The components arranged on the frame—namely, the floor, the at least one insert, and the lid—make it possible to accommodate or stow various small objects relative to the cargo space in the storage device, preventing them from being stored loosely in the cargo space, thus ensuring order and security.

[0017] In addition, a further embodiment of the invention has proven advantageous in which the connecting elements are divided into at least two corresponding pairs, the first pair being arranged in a front region of the frame in the vehicle's longitudinal direction and the second pair being arranged in a rear region of the frame in the vehicle's longitudinal direction. The respective pairs thus form respective axes, the two pairs being designed to hold the storage device in the horizontal position and to bear the weight of the storage device and the elements or objects that are placed on the storage device. By using two pairs, it is particularly advantageous to use the first front pair as the pivot axis and the second rear pair as the support axis of the storage device. Finally, in a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the frame is made of aluminum or another lightweight material, and the insert, the lid, and the base are made of a lightweight material made of pressed fibers. The frame provides the necessary stability and allows the other components to be attached to it, for example using screw elements. The frame can be hollow or made of a flat plate, depending on the predetermined load-bearing capacity of the storage device. The insert, the lid, and the base can be made of the lightweight material made of pressed fibers, thereby enabling cost-effective production. In particular, the insert is therefore easy to replace, allowing for multiple uses and multiple designs of the insert.

[0018] In other words, the object of the invention is achieved by a narrow cassette or storage device that can be snapped into place on the side walls in the cargo area. This cassette has an insert beneath a hinged cover or lid that can accommodate either two folding crates or, in another exemplary embodiment, four water crates. For the transport of large / bulky goods, the storage device can be rotated into a vertical position within the vehicle at various angles, thereby securing the load. Alternatively, the storage device can be easily removed completely from the vehicle. For smaller loading scenarios, such as shopping, the folding crates contained in the storage device can be conveniently loaded via a so-called "flip window" without always having to open the large tailgate.Vans or box-type vehicles with large cargo space in particular benefit from such a solution.

[0019] Particularly advantageous are intuitive operation, easy installation and removal, a symmetrical, harmonious shape, low system complexity, and space-saving storage and parking. The storage device is correspondingly light, handy, and flat, measuring just seven centimeters high. It has six folding boxes that can be loaded underneath. Additionally, compartments are provided for two folding boxes and small items. Alternatively, compartments for four water crates or other compartments are possible. Finally, the storage device can be folded upwards, in particular by 65 to 90 degrees, analogous to the inclination of the seat back. Further advantages, features, and details of the invention will become apparent from the following description of preferred embodiments and from the drawings. The features and combinations of features mentioned above in the description as well as the features and combinations of features mentioned below in the description of the figures and / or shown alone in the figures can be used not only in the respective combination specified, but also in other combinations or on their own, without departing from the scope of the invention.

[0032] In the figures, elements and functionally equivalent elements are provided with the same reference numerals.

[0033] Figures 1 to 3 show respective perspective views of a storage device 10 according to the invention for a cargo space 12 of a motor vehicle 14 with an open rear door 15 in a state of the storage device 10 installed within the cargo space 12. The storage device 10 comprises a frame 16 dividing the cargo space 12, on which frame 16 further components for configuring the storage device 10 are arranged and / or can be arranged. The frame 16 is designed to be pivotable from a substantially horizontal position H about a pivot axis A into an angled position W and forward in the vehicle's longitudinal direction x. A length and a width of the frame 16 substantially correspond to the width and depth of the cargo space 12, whereby the frame 16, in the horizontal position H, provides a second level 17b within the cargo space 12 in addition to a floor 17a of the cargo space 12.Thus, the frame 16 extends between respective side walls S1, S2 as well as between a rear seat bench and the rear door 15 of the motor vehicle 14. This makes it possible to divide the loading space 12 in terms of its height, whereby loads can be deposited both on the floor 17a of the loading space 12 and on the level 17b provided by the frame 16.

[0034] 1 and 2 illustrate the storage device 10 in the substantially horizontal position H, whereby the loading space 12 of the motor vehicle 14 is divided by the storage device 10 into an upper space R1 in the vehicle vertical direction z and a lower space R2 in the vehicle vertical direction z. While Fig. 1 illustrates the storage device 10 with a closed lid 20, Fig. 2 shows the storage device 10 with an opened lid 20, allowing a view into the interior of the storage device 10. This shows that the storage device 10 is intended to accommodate or hold smaller objects within the storage device 10.

[0035] The angular position W shown in Fig. 3 makes it possible to utilize the entire cargo space 12, or the entire height of the cargo space 12, without removing the storage device 10 and thus the objects located within the storage device 10 from the motor vehicle 14. When the lid 20 is closed, it rests on the frame 16, so that a load L of transported goods placed on the lid 20 is distributed over the area. Examples of the use of the storage device 10 according to the invention can be seen in Figs. 10-12.

[0036] Fig. 4 shows an exploded view of the embodiment of the storage device 10 according to the invention, in which the frame 16, a base 22, an insert 24 and the lid 20, in particular a foldable lid 20 covering substantially the entire frame 16, are shown. In particular, it can be seen that the base 22 can be fastened to a lower frame plane E1 of the frame 16. This fastening can be implemented, for example, by means of screw elements and / or other fastening elements. The frame 16 itself has a crossbeam 26, which is arranged in a central region of the frame 16 in the longitudinal direction y1 of the storage device 10 and is fastened to a front region of the frame 16 in the vehicle longitudinal direction x. In the rear region of the crossbeam 26, an arch 28 is fastened to the frame 16 and is in turn connected to the crossbeam 26.The arch 28 itself is connected to the frame 16 via two connection points, wherein the invention provides that the frame 16, the arch 28, and the crossbeam 26 are formed as a single piece. The arch 28 is directed forward in the vehicle's longitudinal direction x and forms a handle 30 for carrying the storage device 10.

[0037] In other words, the frame 16 consists of the crossbeam 26 and the arch 28, which represents the stability of the storage device 10. Depending on the design of the frame 16, a possible load can thus be supported by the storage device 10. In particular, a height H2 of the crossbeam 26 does not correspond to the overall height H1 of the frame 16, so that it is possible to place the insert 24 and the lid 20 on the crossbeam 26 without the insert 24 and the lid 20 exceeding the overall height H1 of the storage device 10 or the frame 16. The crossbeam 26 forms a support surface for the lid 20, which is located on a crossbeam plane E3. This results in the support surface on which the lid 20 and the insert 24 rest in a closed state. The thickness of the lid 20 with the insert 24 corresponds to a height difference dH between the total height H1 of the frame 16 and the height H2 of the crossbeam 26. According to the invention, the lid 20 rests on the support surface. Thus, an upper lid plane E4 of the lid 20 forms part of a surface formed by the frame 16 and thus part of an upper frame plane E2. This results in the lid 20 forming part of the support surface of the storage device 10, and the interaction of the frame 16 and the crossbeam 26 with the lid 20 and the insert 24 forms the storage area for the transported goods.

[0038] A height H3 of the arch 28, however, corresponds to the total height H1 of the frame 16, forming the handle 30. Alternatively, the height H3 of the arch 28 is equal to the height H2 of the crossbeam 26, whereby the insert 24 and the lid 20 can also be placed on the arch 28 without exceeding the total height H1 of the frame 16. The insert 24 is designed such that it can be placed into the frame. The crossbeam 26 supports the center of the insert 24, whereby the insert 24 can also be placed on the base 22. Thus, the base 22 and the crossbeam 26 support the insert 24, so that the objects placed on the insert 24 and thus into the storage device 10 do not fall through. It is also possible to insert several inserts 24 instead of one insert 24, whereby the designs of the respective inserts 24 can be adapted depending on the OEM's specifications.

[0039] In particular, in the embodiment shown in Fig. 4, an insert 24 is formed, in which two folding boxes 24a, in the folded state, can be inserted into areas 25a provided for them. The two areas 25a for the folding boxes 24a, in particular, are delimited by walls 25b, with two further spaces 25c being shown for further objects. Finally, Fig. 4 also shows the lid 20, which can be hingedly fastened to the frame 16. The lid 20 is formed from at least two hinged surfaces F1, F2, which can be hinged open about a respective folding axis K1, K2 by means of respective hinge elements 32.

[0040] Fig. 5 shows a schematic perspective view of the embodiment of the storage device 10 according to the invention in the horizontal position H and with a closed lid 20, wherein in particular the two foldable surfaces F1, F2 of the lid are shown here. Furthermore, it can be seen here that the entire surface of the lid 20 does not exceed the total height H1 of the frame 16, thereby representing a transition which is in particular stepless. In order to achieve the object of the invention, it is provided according to the invention that the frame 16 has the lid 20 which can be folded about the first folding axis K1 and by means of the hinge elements 32 and which, in cooperation with the frame 16 and in cooperation with the crossbeam 26 (invisible in Fig. 5), is designed in the horizontal position H for depositing transported goods. The crossbeam 26 thus stabilizes the frame 16 and enables a higher load-bearing capacity L, since the load-bearing capacity L of the transported goods standing on the storage device 10 is distributed accordingly. The lid 20 is fastened by means of the hinge elements 32 to a front edge 16a of the frame 16 in the vehicle's longitudinal direction x such that the frame can be rotated about the first folding axis K1. This allows a user standing in front of the cargo area 12 to ergonomically lift the lid 20 and gain access to the interior of the storage device 10. When the lid 20 is closed, it rests on the crossbeam 26, the insert 24 and the frame 16, so that the load-bearing capacity L of the transported goods placed on the lid 20 is distributed over the area. According to the invention, the frame 16 is made of aluminum or another lightweight material. The insert 24, the lid 20 and the base 22 are made of a lightweight material made of pressed fibers. Fig. 6 shows a perspective view of the embodiment of the storage device 10 according to the invention with the lid 20 folded open, which makes it possible in particular to see into the interior of the insert 24. The insert 24 has the areas 25a for the objects, wherein in particular two folding boxes 24a can be inserted. The hinge elements required for folding open the lid 20 are also shown here. The second foldable surface F2 is folded around the second folding axis K2, so that only the first foldable surface F1, in particular a lower area of the lid 20, is shown.

[0041] Fig. 7 shows a perspective view of the embodiment of the storage device 10 according to the invention in the angular position W within the loading space 12. The frame 16 can be releasably fastened to the respective side walls S1, S2 in the angular position W by means of respective fastening elements 34. The fastening elements 34 are designed as pins which are arranged on the respective side walls S1, S2 and protrude from a respective plane of the side walls S1, S2. The storage device 10 is correspondingly rotated forward about the pivot axis A, wherein the fastening elements 34 stop further rotation by a predetermined angle and provide support to the storage device 10. It is also possible to attach fastening elements 34 to different areas of the respective side walls S1, S2, whereby the angle of the angular position W can be varied. In particular, the fastening elements 34 are detachable so that the user can remove them as desired.

[0042] Fig. 8 shows a further perspective view of the embodiment of the storage device 10 according to the invention with a focus on the connecting elements 18. Here, the storage device 10 has a connecting element 18 which forms the lock latch 18a and can be latched with a corresponding pin 18b (not shown). The connecting element 18 thus forms the pivot axis A. In other words, the storage device 10 has connecting elements 18 which are formed by respective pins 18b (not shown in Fig. 8) and corresponding openings or lock latches 18a, and which in particular enable the frame 16 and thus the storage device 10 to be latched or fastened to the side walls S1, S2 of the loading space 12. It is important here that a mechanism of the connecting elements 18 makes it possible to remove the storage device 10 from the loading space 12 again, as desired. To reopen the lock latch 18a, a safety device 36 is shown, which has a mechanism by which the lock latch 18a is opened and the pin 18b is released. Thus, when the lock latch 18a engages with the pin 18b, it is possible to reopen it using the mechanism. When the lock latch 18a engages with the pin 18b, it is possible to fold or adjust the storage device 10 about the pivot axis A, so that the storage device 10 is pivoted from the horizontal position H to the angular position W.

[0043] Fig. 9 shows a schematic representation of a storage device 10 carried by a user, as well as a loading space 12 of a prototype of a motor vehicle 14 with the respective side walls S1, S2. In particular, it can be seen that respective support surfaces 38a, 38b are provided on the respective side walls S1, S2, along which the frame 16 of the storage device 10 is until the connecting elements 18 engage. This enables, in particular, that the frame 16 is placed on the support surfaces 38a, 38b, so that the weight of the storage device 10 as well as the objects located therein and the objects placed on the storage device 10 is distributed over the respective support surfaces 38a, 38b.In other words, the invention provides that the frame 16 can be pushed into the respective lateral support surfaces 38a, 38b on the respective side walls S1, S2 in a rear region in the vehicle longitudinal direction x until the connecting elements 18 engage, and can be laid down on these in the horizontal position H. Furthermore, the respective side walls S1, S2 are designed such that they form the support surfaces 38a, 38b, which in particular hold the load L of the storage device 10. For example, the support surfaces 38a, 38b are made of a soft material in order to avoid scratches and damage, for example, and to enable the storage device 10 to be pushed in.

[0044] Figures 10 to 12 show respective schematic perspective views of the storage devices 10 according to the invention within the motor vehicle 14 during various usage positions. The motor vehicle 14 has an open rear door 15. Fig. 10 shows the storage device 10 in the horizontal position H with folding crates 24a located in the lower space R2 and at least one folding crate 24a located on the storage surface and thus in the upper space R1. This particularly illustrates the possible segmentation of objects within the cargo space 12. Fig. 11 shows, in particular, the storage device 10 in the vertical position V, whereby the entire height of the cargo space 12 is usable. For example, crates of bottles can be stacked in this way, whereby the storage device 10 does not hinder stacking. Accordingly, the storage device 10 can remain in the motor vehicle 14 without dividing the cargo space 12.

[0045] Finally, Fig. 12 shows a further embodiment of the motor vehicle 14, in which the rear door 15 is closed, but a window 42 of the rear door 15 is shown folded or in an open state. The storage device 10 makes it possible to provide a higher surface on which objects can be placed thanks to the support surface. Furthermore, access to the interior of the storage device 10 is possible by folding open the lid 20. This makes it possible for the rear door 15 to not have to be folded open for loading into the cargo space 12 or the upper space R2, thereby increasing comfort for the user.
