Description

[0001] NOSE PAD FOR EYEGLASSES

[0002] The present invention relates to a nose pad for eyeglasses. More particularly, the invention relates to a nose pad for eyeglasses that ensures a comfortable fit of the eyeglasses.

[0003] As is known, eyeglasses rest on the nose, generally by means of a pair of nose pads adapted to be arranged on either side of the nose and to rest thereon.

[0004] The nose pads may be of the adjustable or fixed type but in any case are provided in such a way as to allow the eyeglasses to rest comfortably on the user's nose and thus allow the user substantially not to perceive the resting of the nose pad on his or her nose.

[0005] Nose pads of the known type are generally made of plastic or silicone or have a rigid metal structure that is fixed rotatably to the frame of the eyeglasses and to which a part directly in contact with the user's nose, which may be made of plastic material, silicone, or other, is applied.

[0006] The aim of the present invention is to provide a nose pad for eyeglasses that is comfortable for the user and, at the same time, has a firm anchoring to the frame of the eyeglasses while allowing to adjust the nose pad angle.

[0007] Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a nose pad for eyeglasses which, once mounted on the eyeglass, is removable. This characteristic is particularly felt for children's frames and / or glasses.

[0008] Another object of the present invention is to provide a nose pad for eyeglasses that is made of metal and / or rubber.

[0009] Not least object of the present invention is to provide a nose pad for eyeglasses that is highly reliable, relatively easy to provide and at competitive costs.

[0010] This aim, as well as these and other objects that will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a nose pad for eyeglasses, characterized in that it comprises an internal frame-like structure or supporting structure provided with at least one coupling means, adapted to allow stable and nonremovable attachment to the frame of a pair of eyeglasses, said internal frame-like structure or supporting structure being adapted to be overmolded with a soft covering element.

[0011] Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become better apparent from the description of preferred but not exclusive embodiments of the nose pad for eyeglasses according to the present invention, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

[0012] Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of a nose pad for eyeglasses according to the present invention;

[0013] Figure 2 is a perspective view of the nose pad for eyeglasses of Figure 1;

[0015] Figure 4 is a perspective view of a frame for eyeglasses with one nose pad according to the invention already mounted and one nose pad in the removed condition;

[0016] Figure 5 is a perspective view of the frame for eyeglasses with both nose pads mounted and in the configuration for use;

[0017] Figure 6 is an exploded perspective view of the nose pad for eyeglasses according to the present invention, in accordance with a second embodiment thereof;

[0018] Figure 7 is a perspective view of the nose pad of Figure 6;

[0019] Figure 8 is a perspective view of a frame for eyeglasses with one nose pad according to the invention, in accordance with the second embodiment, already mounted and one nose pad in the removed condition;

[0020] Figure 9 is a perspective view of the frame for eyeglasses with both nose pads mounted and in the configuration for use;

[0022] Figure 11 is a sectional perspective view of the nose pad of Figure 10 in the assembled condition;

[0023] Figure 12 is a side view of the nose pad of Figures 10 and 11.

[0024] With reference to the figures, in which identical reference numerals designate identical elements, the nose pad for eyeglasses according to the present invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises an internal frame-like structure or supporting structure or simply a frame or internal supporting structure 2, adapted to be nonremovably coupled to a frame for eyeglasses 18.

[0025] The frame or internal supporting structure 2 is constituted by a substantially curvilinear or C-shaped structure 4, with a substantially straight portion and two curved lateral portions, provided with at least one coupling or engagement means, for example, a foot or a pair of feet 5, each provided with teeth 6, for engagement and coupling within corresponding cavities formed in the frame of the eyeglasses.

[0026] The engagement or coupling means is or are arranged at the edge of the structure 4 that is adapted to come into contact with the frame 18 of the eyeglasses.

[0027] The curvilinear structure 4 is conveniently provided with at least one lightening opening which is also adapted to facilitate rubber overmolding. In a preferred embodiment, the elongated structure 4 is provided with a plurality of lightening openings 7, 8 that are separated by a central vertical rib 9 and by a horizontal rib 12 which forms a lightening opening 10 arranged substantially at right angles to the vertical rib 9.

[0028] Conveniently, the structure 4 is curved with a different curvature depending on whether it is adapted to be used as a left or right nose pad, the curvature being such as to have a convex part that is adapted to be directed toward the nose of the user. Therefore, the two convex parts of the two mutually opposite nose pads, the left one and the right one that are coupled to the frame, substantially face each other.

[0029] Conveniently, the structure 4 is adapted to be covered, for example overmolded, with a covering element 3, for example made of rubber, which constitutes a soft resting element for the nose pad on the nose of a user.

[0030] Figures 4 and 5 show the coupling of the nose pads 1 according to the present invention to the frame for eyeglasses 18.

[0031] For this purpose, said frame has, at the nose pad mounting / coupling region, a milling 19 that forms a seat for accommodating the soft covering element 3, so that the ends of the covering element 3 seamlessly blend with the profile of the frame 18 when the nose pad is mounted.

[0032] The milling 19 provides for a central elongated cavity 20 in which the engagement / coupling means 5, 6 of the curvilinear internal frame-like structure or supporting structure 4 engage.

[0033] On either side of the cavity 20 there are respective protrusions 21 that are adapted to keep the covering element 3 in its seat so that it cannot move from its resting position that is in contact with the milling 19 and so that it remains aligned with the profile of the frame 18.

[0034] The second embodiment according to the invention, shown in Figures 4 and 5, provides, unlike the embodiment of Figures 1-3, for a structure 4 which is shaped, instead of with a substantially straight portion and two curved lateral portions, with a profile that has a continuous curvature, so as to provide a sort of triangle with rounded vertices, which is substantially D- shaped.

[0035] In this case also, the lightening openings already indicated in the previous embodiment are present.

[0036] Differently from the previous embodiment, the structure 4 provides, in addition to the pair of coupling feet 5 already present in the previous embodiment, for additional coupling feet 15, 16, provided with respective teeth 17, adapted to allow a more stable fixing of the nose pad within the frame of the eyeglasses.

[0037] In this case also, the structure 4 is overmolded with a rubber covering element 3 that reproduces the shape of the underlying structure 4, as in the previous embodiment.

[0038] In this case also, the structure 4 is arc-like so that the convexities of the two nose pads coupled to the frame of the eyeglasses face each other.

[0039] In this case also, the structure 4 is conveniently provided with one or more lightening openings, which are furthermore adapted to facilitate the overmolding of the soft material.

[0040] Figures 8 and 9 show the coupling / assembly of a pair of nose pads 100 to a frame 18, which is the same one as the first embodiment, the only difference being that the protrusions 21 may also no longer be necessary since the structure 2 provides for additional coupling means 15, 16, 17 in addition to the coupling means 5, 6 of the first embodiment. However, nothing forbids the provision of such protrusions in the second embodiment as well.

[0041] Finally, Figures 10-12 show the third embodiment of the nose pad according to the invention, which is substantially analogous to the first embodiment but in which the structure 4 has a rounded shape which is symmetrical with respect to the rib 9.

[0042] Conveniently, the structure 4 of all the embodiments can be made of metal or other suitable material, while the overmolded portion 3 can be made of rubber, silicone rubber, or other suitable material.

[0043] Advantageously, the metallic material of the structure 4 is steel or generally a deformable metallic material that allows the structure 4 to be bent around the point of coupling with the frame of the eyeglasses, so as to change the angle of the structure 4 with respect to said frame, and then be able to change the angle at will, with further bending actions, in one direction and the other, without the structure 4 being subject to breakage. Conveniently, the covering element 3 can be transparent and can have internally lettering, a logo or personalization in general that is therefore visible from the outside.

[0044] In practice it has been found that the nose pad for eyeglasses according to the present invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects, since on the one hand it allows a firm coupling to the frame of the eyeglasses, which is nonremovable, and on the other hand it ensures, by virtue of the overmolded rubber covering element, adequate user comfort combined with a high simplicity of adjustment of the nose pad angle.

[0045] The internal frame-like structure or supporting structure substantially forms a nose pad that couples directly to the frame of the eyeglasses and is adjustable in its angle with respect to the latter.

[0046] The nose pad thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims.

[0047] All the details may furthermore be replaced with other technically equivalent elements.

[0048] In practice, the materials used, as well as the contingent shapes and dimensions, may be any according to the requirements and the state of the art.
