[0010] The dependent claims correspond to possible embodiments of the invention.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0011] Additional features and advantages of the present invention will emerge more clearly from the approximate and thus non-limiting description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a magnetic closing apparatus for a door or window and of a kit as illustrated in the appended drawings, in which: figures 1A-1B illustrate, respectively, an operating configuration and an at least partially disassembled configuration of a magnetic closing apparatus for a door or window in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention; figures 2A-2C illustrate respective components of a closing apparatus kit for a door or window in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention; figures 3A-3B illustrate the kit shown in figures 2A-2C in two different operating configurations. DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0012] The present invention relates to a closing apparatus kit for a door or window. With particular reference to figures 2A-2C, 3A-3B, the kit comprises, alternatively, and at the user's choice, a rotary latch lock 1 or a translating latch lock 101.

[0013] The rotary latch lock 1 comprises a lock body 2 having a front plate 7 and installable inside an opening of a door or window leaf. Furthermore, the rotary latch lock 1 comprises a rotary latch 3 hinged to the lock body 2 and reversibly movable between a retracted position, in which it is housed inside the lock body 2, and an extracted position, in which it is at least partially projecting from the lock body 2 through the front plate 7 in order to be engaged inside a parallel strike plate 4. As illustrated in the appended figures, the rotary latch 3 is rotatable about a substantially horizontal rotation axis.

[0014] The translating latch lock 101 comprises a lock body 2 having a front plate 7 and installable inside an opening of a door or window leaf. Furthermore, the translating latch lock 101 comprises a translating latch 103 that is reversibly movable, for example according to a translation motion, between a retracted position, in which it is housed inside the lock body 2, and an extracted position, in which it is at least partially projecting from the lock body 2 through the front plate 7 in order to be engaged inside a parallel strike plate 4.

[0015] In accordance with one aspect, the rotary latch lock 1 and / or the translating latch lock 101 comprise a magnetic and / or ferromagnetic element mounted on the latch 3, 103 and configured to interact with the parallel strike plate 4 to move the latch 3, 103 from the retracted position to the extracted position. For example, the magnetic interaction between the latch 3, 103 and the parallel strike plate 4 is of the attractive type. Preferably, in the retracted position the latch 3, 103 is completely housed inside the lock body 2.

[0016] Furthermore, "extracted position" is meant to indicate any condition in which the latch 3, 103 is at least partially projecting from the lock body 2.

[0017] As illustrated in the figures, the kit comprises at least one parallel strike plate 4 configured to be mounted on a frame of the door or window and defining a housing 6 adapted to receive by insertion the latch 3, 103 so as to define a closed condition of the door or window.

[0018] In greater detail, the strike plate is defined as "parallel", in the sense that it is substantially aligned and parallel to the front plate 7, when the door or window is disposed in the closed position, that is, with the latch 3, 103 facing the strike plate.

[0019] Preferably, the parallel strike plate 4 extends mainly along a vertical direction of extension.

[0020] Furthermore, the parallel strike plate 4 comprises a parallel magnet 5 extending parallel to the front plate 7 of the lock. The parallel magnet 5 interacts with the latch 3, 103, thereby generating a magnetic force, preferably of the attractive type, which promotes the insertion of the latch 3, 103 into the housing 6. In other words, the parallel magnet 5 is preferably configured to attract the rotary latch 3 and / or the translating latch 103.

[0021] With particular reference to figures 1A-1B, 2A, 3A-3B, the parallel magnet 5 has a substantially vertical main axis of extension.

[0022] Purely by way of non-limiting example, the parallel magnet 5 can extend mainly along a direction parallel to a rotation axis of the door or window leaf.

[0023] The present invention thus provides a kit wherein a single parallel strike plate 4 can receive by insertion either a rotary latch 3 (fig.3A) or a translating latch 103 (fig.3B), assuring in both operating configurations a particularly effective closure of the door or window.

[0024] This aspect makes it possible, moreover, to make the same milled seat in the frame of the door or window irrespective of whether a rotary latch lock 1 or a translating latch lock 101 is used, thus facilitating the operations of installing of the lock.

[0025] Furthermore, the present invention allows for the use of a single die to produce the strike plate for both types of lock, thus simplifying production and bringing about a concurrent reduction in operating and inventory management costs.

[0026] With particular reference to figures 1A, 3A, the rotary latch 3 is configured to abut against a limit stop portion defined internally by the parallel strike plate 4 in order to define the closed condition of the door or window.

[0027] For example, the rotary latch 3 may have an operating surface 8 adapted to abut obliquely inside the housing 6.

[0028] According to a further advantageous aspect, the housing 6 has a conical shape or a substantially trapezoidal cross section that allows the entry of the latch 3, 103 to be facilitated.

[0029] In particular, the parallel strike plate 4 can comprise a first vertical wall and a second vertical wall converging towards each other to define the housing 6. For example, the first vertical wall and the second vertical wall can have different inclinations from each other to define the above-mentioned substantially trapezoidal cross section of the housing 6.

[0030] In a further advantageous manner, the housing 6 can be defined asymmetrically with respect to at least a median axis of the parallel strike plate 4. For example, the housing 6 can be asymmetric with respect to a first median axis, typically longer (not illustrated in the appended figures), which is substantially parallel to a main direction of extension of the parallel strike plate 4. Furthermore, the housing 6 can be asymmetric with respect to a second median axis "M", typically shorter, which is substantially perpendicular to a main direction of extension of the parallel strike plate 4.

[0031] The above-mentioned technical features impart to the housing 6 a substantially asymmetric shape (when the vertical walls have a different inclination) and / or a substantially asymmetric positioning with respect to the geometry of the parallel strike plate 4 (when the housing is asymmetric with respect to the median axis of the strike plate). Advantageously, the kit is capable of compensating for any misalignment between the door or window leaf and the frame by means of a 180° rotation of the parallel strike plate 4.

[0032] With particular reference to figures 1A, 1B and 3A, when the parallel strike plate 4 is installed on the frame of a door or window, the extension of the median axis "M" intersects a handle spindle bar "Q" of the lock 1.

[0033] In this manner, it is possible to achieve a reversible installation of the door or window, where "reversible installation" means the possibility that the door or window leaf can be opened towards the right or towards the left (if viewed from the front and from a same side). In fact, the aforesaid shape of the parallel strike plate 4 enables the strike plate itself to be turned over inside its housing seat (milled seat) in a frame, hence without the need to replace or rework the frame itself.

[0034] In accordance with a further advantageous aspect, the parallel magnet 5 is made at least partially of neodymium, preferably NdFeB, which ensures the generation of a strong magnetic force and makes it possible to minimise the overall dimensions within the parallel strike plate 4 and, therefore, the depth of the milled seat intended to house part of the parallel strike plate 4 inside the frame.

[0035] According to a further advantageous aspect, the rotary latch lock 1 and / or the translating latch lock 101 can comprise blocking means (not illustrated in the appended figures) selectively activatable on the latch 3, 103 to maintain it in the extracted position, thereby defining a blocked condition of the latch 3, 103.

[0036] In accordance with a further aspect, the present invention relates to a magnetic closing apparatus for a door or window which will hereinafter also simply be referred to as the apparatus 100.

[0037] Advantageously, the apparatus 100 comprises a rotary latch lock and a parallel strike plate. The rotary latch lock is installable inside an opening of a door or window leaf and comprises a lock body having a front plate.

[0038] In particular, the apparatus 100 comprises a rotary latch lock 1 and a parallel strike plate 4 in accordance with what was previously described.

[0039] In accordance with a further aspect, the present invention relates to an installation method for a magnetic closing apparatus for doors or windows comprising the step of mounting a parallel strike plate on a frame of a door or window so that the magnet of the parallel strike plate extends substantially parallel to a front plate of the lock.

[0040] Advantageously, the method comprises a step of selecting a rotary latch lock 1 (fig. 2B), comprising a lock body 2 and a rotary latch 3, or a translating latch lock 101 (fig. 2C), comprising a lock body 2 and a translating latch 103. Preferably, the step of selecting the lock 1, 101 is carried out in such a way that the magnetic interaction between the latch 3, 103 of the locks 1, 101 and the parallel magnet 5 is of the attractive type.

[0041] Furthermore, the method comprises a step of mounting the selected lock on the leaf of the door or window so that, during use, the latch can be engaged in the parallel strike plate so as to achieve a closed condition of the door or window.

[0042] Therefore, the present method makes installation activity very simple and flexible thanks to the possibility of using the same parallel strike plate both with a rotary latch lock 1 and with a translating latch lock 101.

[0043] Preferably, the method comprises a step of preparing and carrying out at least the above-mentioned steps with a closing apparatus kit for a door or window in accordance with what was previously described.
