AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Current dental implant installation methods require gradual hole enlargement and can cause jawbone fracture, compression, and inflammation due to the fragile nature of the jawbone and incorrect screw positioning, leading to biocompatibility issues.

Method used

A dental implant with a titanium 'shirt' that eliminates hole enlargement by distributing stress loads evenly across the jawbone surface, using a flat outer structure and coaxial compression to prevent screw contact and reduce stress accumulation.

Benefits of technology

The implant design enhances biocompatibility by reducing stress on the jawbone, minimizing the risk of fracture and inflammation, and simplifies the installation process with a larger assembly surface area and even stress distribution.

Description

[0001] DENTAL IMPLANT HAVING A SHIRT

[0002] Technical Field

[0003] The invention relates to a dental implant having a shirt that does not require gradual hole enlargement according to the implant size and diameter in dental implant applications.

[0004] Prior Art

[0005] The materials placed in the tissue in order to restore a missing part of the human body and to restore aesthetics and function are called implants. Local or general chewing force losses caused by tooth loss can be eliminated with artificial teeth substituted with implant treatment. Implants used for this purpose are mounted to the jawbone by screwing. Depending on the structure of the bone tissue, implants of different sizes and diameters can be used. Presently, different implant geometries or materials have been tried or applied for these different requirements.

[0006] When the implant application in the prior art is examined, it is seen that the implant consists of 4 main parts. These parts are the prosthesis, abutment screw, abutment and implant from top to bottom respectively as shown in Figure 1.

[0007] In current dental implant applications, implants of different diameters and lengths can be applied depending on the jawbone structure. In addition, there are helical teeth in different angles and shapes defined as threads on the outer diameter of the implant. During the installation of the implant, a hole enlargement process is performed incrementally from small diameter to large diameter on the jawbone. After the implant mounting hole drilled into the jawbone reaches a specified diameter, the implant part is screwed with progressive torque. The most important issue in such screwing is the risk of fracture, cracking, crumbling, etc. due to the spongy and fragile nature of the jawbone. Therefore, screwing is done slowly.

[0008] Another problem experienced in the prior art is that if the screw profile on the implant is not positioned correctly during the installation of the screw profile on the jawbone, screw compression and subsequent bone damage may occur. This can cause problems in bone implant biocompatibility process and may cause inflammation.

[0009] As can be seen in documents EP2368515 and US20050170311, structures that will lead to the above-mentioned problems during the installation of the implant are described. The prior art does not include an implant, which eliminates the contact of the screw with the jawbone and eliminates hole enlargement operations in the bone.

[0010] Object and Brief Description of the Invention

[0011] The invention relates to an implant having a shirt which fulfils the above-mentioned requirements, eliminates all disadvantages, and is developed to bring additional advantages to the relevant technical field.

[0012] With the invention, a new dental implant having a shirt is presented, which is placed in the jawbone as a whole for implant application and eliminates the progressive hole enlargement processes in the jawbone in the state of the art. Thus, the contact of the screw structure with the jawbone is prevented and compression force applied to the jawbone is eliminated.

[0013] With the invention, it is aimed to create a larger assembly surface area for the abutment geometry placed on the implant. Compared to the helical or different shaped screw profiles on the surface of the existing implant geometry, manufacturing flexibility and ease is aimed with a flat outer structure.

[0014] By means of the implant developed with the invention, a compression force is provided coaxially with the shirt placed in the hole drilled in the jawbone and the screw in the shirt.

[0015] The jawbone stress loads, which are occasionally encountered due to the circumferential shear force of the implant in current applications, will be evenly distributed throughout the surface with the shirt system developed by the invention, thus reducing stress accumulation.

[0031] Detailed Description of the Invention

[0032] The invention relates to an implant having a shirt for the use of artificial teeth, which are used to compensate for local or general chewing force losses caused by tooth loss.

[0033] The implant according to the invention essentially comprises four main parts, which are a nut (4), a washer (3), a titanium shirt (1) and a shirt screw (2). As parts of the assembly, it also includes a connection element (abutment) (5) and a connection element (abutment) screw (6). Therefore, the assembly of the jawbone (7) is established by using a total of six parts.

[0034] The implant according to the invention comprises the parts,

[0035] • A shirt (1) into which a shirt screw (2) is inserted, which is inserted into the hole drilled in the jawbone (7) for implant application, which distributes the stress loads in the jawbone (7) evenly across the surface to reduce stress accumulations,

[0036] • at least one surface hole (8) on the surface of the shirt (1) in contact with the jawbone (7)

[0037] • A shirt screw (2), which compresses the shirt (1) against the jawbone (7) along its diameter and ensures that the shirt (7) is attached to the jawbone (7) by moving in an upward (z) direction,

[0038] • At least one washer (3) placed on the shirt screw (2), which enables the shirt screw (2) to move in the upward direction (z) by turning the shirt screw (2) about its axis,

[0039] • At least one nut (4) which, by being rotated about its axis, ensures the upward (z) movement of the shirt screw (2) and which, by its upward (z) movement, compresses the shirt (3) in the jawbone socket and completes the assembly, • A connection element (5) used for completing the implant installation, which is screwed to the shirt screw (2) with a connection element screw (6), which enables the connection of the denture / artificial tooth and the implant to each other.

[0040] In preferred embodiments of the invention, the shirt (1) and the shirt screw (2) are titanium. Said shirt (1) comprises at least one surface hole (8) on the surface contacting the jaw bone (7). By means of the jaw holes (8) on the shirt, the bone tissue advances through the holes (8) on the titanium shirt and forms a rigid structure during the time it takes for the jawbone to accept the implant. The more the number of surface holes (8), the more the bone tissue will progress.

[0041] The application method of the implant is as follows;

[0042] Firstly, the hole in the shape of the diameter required for the installation of the shirt (1) is drilled into the jawbone (7). The titanium shirt (1) is inserted into the drilled hole. The shirt screw (2) is inserted into the shirt (1). The washer (3) is placed on the shirt screw (2). Then the nut (4) is rotated about the axis of the shirt screw (2) and the shirt screw (2) is moved upwards. As the shirt screw (2) moves upwards, the shirt (1) compresses the jawbone (7) and attaches to the jawbone (7). How much the nut (4) is tightened is determined by the tightening torque. Afterwards, the connection element (abutment) (5) is screwed to the shirt screw (2) with the connection element screw (abutment screw) (6) and the assembly is completed.

[0043] A preferred embodiment of the invention (Model 1) is shown in Figures 2, 3 and 4. Another embodiment of the invention (Model 2) is shown in Figures 5, 6 and 7.

[0044] In Model 1 (Figure 8a) this inclination is at a distance L forming angle A with the horizontal x vector, while in Model 2 (Figure 8b) this inclination is at a distance LI at angle B with the horizontal x vector. In Model 1 (Figures 2 and 3), the inner surface (9) of the shirt has a straight cylindrical shape because the part of the shirt screw (2) inside the shirt is a straight cylinder. However, in Model 2 (Figures 5 and 6), since the shirt screw (2) has a conical shape, the inner surface (9) of the shirt also has a conical structure so as to grasp the shirt screw (2). In Model 2, the outer surface (10) of the shirt (2) has a stepped structure.
