AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing smoking alternatives that heat tobacco or other aerosol-generating materials without burning them lack efficient mechanisms for controlling the insertion and heating of these materials, leading to suboptimal aerosol generation and user experience.

Method used

An aerosol provision device with a heating zone and a cover mechanism that includes a body, actuating member, and linking member, allowing for selective control of the opening to manage the insertion and heating of aerosol-generating material, enabling efficient aerosol generation without combustion.

Benefits of technology

The device effectively generates aerosol from aerosol-generating materials by controlling the heating process, providing a non-combustible alternative that enhances user experience and safety by preventing uncontrolled material insertion and ensuring consistent aerosol production.

Abstract

An aerosol provision device for generating aerosol from an aerosol generating material is provided. The aerosol provision device comprises a body defining an opening; a heating zone arranged to receive at least a portion of an article comprising aerosol generating material inserted through the opening; and a cover mechanism. The cover mechanism comprises a cover member arranged to selectively at least partially cover the opening; an actuating member arranged to rotate on the body to actuate the cover member; and a linking member pivotally attached to the cover member and pivotally attached to the actuating member. Rotation of the actuating member relative to the body causes the cover member to move between a relatively open position in which the at least a portion of an article is able to pass through the opening and a relatively closed position in which the at least a portion of an article is prevented from being able to pass through the opening.
