Seat belt webbing
[0001] The present invention relates to a seat belt webbing for a seat belt system of a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] Seat belt webbing for seat belt systems may comprise color highlighted elements, such as a stripe. Such a stripe may, for example, extend along the longitudinal extension of the seat belt webbing. Seat belt webbing typically comprises a weave of warp yarns and weft yarns, wherein color contrasting stripes run along the longitudinal extent parallel to the warp yarns.
[0003] However, the color contrasting stripes emphasize the type of webbing of the seat belt webbing at the edges of the stripes, wherein the type of webbing must meet technical requirements for restraining a passenger. Accordingly, such strips often comprise blurred or jagged edges, which negatively affects the desired visual effect of the color contrasting stripes.
[0004] The object of the present invention is to provide a seat belt webbing for a seat belt system which overcomes the above dis-advantages.
[0005] The object is solved by the features of the independent claim. Further preferred embodiments of the invention can be found in the dependent claims, the figures and the accompanying de-scription.
[0006] A seat belt webbing for a seat belt system of a motor vehicle is proposed, comprising a woven fabric of warp yarns and weft yarns, wherein the woven fabric comprises a base color in one or more base portions, and wherein the seat belt webbing com-prises at least one stripe extending parallel to the warp yarns, which stripe comprises a stripe color different from the base color. It is proposed that a transition stripe is ar-ranged at the transition (s) from the base portion to the stripe (s) , wherein the warp yarns of the base portion and the stripe comprise a base yarn fineness, wherein the transition stripe (s) comprise at least two warp yarns having a transition yarn fineness which is finer than the base yarn fineness.
[0007] The transition stripe having the finer transition yarn fine-ness than the base yarn fineness allows for a finer fabric in that portion, making the edge at the transition from the stripe to the base portion appear smoother. The optically no-ticeable steps in the woven fabric at the color transition can be significantly reduced in size. Accordingly, the woven fab-ric of the seat belt webbing is refined to a locally limited extent, resulting in a visually improved image of the stripe relative to the base portion or portions. A rough zigzag pat-tern at the edge of the stripe can therefore be avoided. The fabric properties of the seat belt webbing are not affected by the transition stripes. By using several warp yarns in the transition stripe with finer yarn fineness than the base yarn fineness, the edges can be visually improved. Preferably, all warp yarns of the transition stripe comprise the transition yarn fineness.
[0008] Preferably, the stripe is located in the center of the seat belt webbing, resulting in two symmetrical base portions on either side of the stripe. For example, if the stripe extends to the edge of a seat belt webbing, only one base portion may be adjacent to the stripe, so that in this case the seat belt webbing comprises only one transition stripe.
[0009] Preferably, the seat belt webbing comprises a stripe. In al-ternative embodiments, the seat belt webbing comprises two, three, four or more stripes.
[0010] The base portion of a seat belt webbing is typically black, but other colors are possible.
[0011] According to a further development, it is proposed that the transition yarn fineness is at least 40%, preferably 50%, fin-er than the base yarn fineness. This allows sufficient smooth-ing of the edge of the stripe by the transition stripe.
[0012] Preferably, the transition yarn fineness is 550 dtex. This re-fines the visual appearance of the transition stripe to the extent that the transition from the stripe to the base portion does not appear zigzag to an observer or occupant. Further preferably, the base yarn fineness is 1100 dtex.
[0013] Preferably, the weft yarns of the webbing of the seat belt webbing comprise a yarn fineness equal to the base yarn fine-ness, preferably 1100 dtex.
[0014] According to a further development, it is proposed that the transition stripe or stripes each comprise four warp yarns. This enables a particularly smooth transition of the stripe to the base portion.
[0015] Preferably, a part of the warp yarns of each transition stripe comprises the base color and a part of the warp yarns of each transition stripe comprises the stripe color. The transition from the color of the stripe to the color of the base portion thus occurs within the transition stripe, which comprises a finer yarn fineness than the stripe and the base portions.
[0016] In a particularly advantageous embodiment, two warp yarns of each transition stripe comprise the base color and two warp yarns of each transition stripe comprise the stripe color. The stripe can thus comprise particularly smooth edges, which is particularly advantageous for the visual appearance of the stripe on the seat belt webbing.
[0017] Preferably, the warp yarns of a transition stripe adjacent to the stripe have the stripe color, and the warp yarns of a transition stripe adjacent to a base portion have the base color.

[0022] Figure 1 shows a schematic illustration of an embodiment of a seat belt webbing 10 for a seat belt system of a motor vehi-cle. In this advantageous embodiment, the strip 14 is arranged in the center of the seat belt webbing 10 parallel to the edg- es thereof. The stripe 14 comprises a stripe color, for exam-ple red, white or blue. The base portions 13 on either side of the stripe 14 comprise a base color, for example black.
[0023] The seat belt webbing 10 comprises a woven fabric of warp yarns 11 and weft yarns 12, see also Figure 2, wherein the stripe 14 extends parallel to the warp yarns 11. The stripe 14 and the base portions 13 comprise a base yarn fineness of the warp yarns 11 of, for example, 1100 dtex.
[0024] The transitions from the stripe 14 with the stripe color to the base portions 13 with the base color are respectively in the transition stripes 15 in the fabric of the seat belt web-bing 10. The warp yarns 11 of the transition stripes 15 com-prise a significantly finer yarn fineness. This transition yarn fineness of the transition stripes 15 is, for example, 550 dtex, so that the warp yarns 11 of the transition stripes 15 in this advantageous embodiment are twice as fine as the warp yarns 11 of the base portions 13 and the stripe 14.
[0025] In Figure 2, a woven fabric of a seat belt webbing 10 at the transition from a stripe 14 to a base portion 13 with a tran-sition stripe 15 is shown in a detailed view. On the right side of Figure 2, the stripe 14 is arranged with the warp yarns 11 in the stripe color. On the left side, the warp yarns 11 of a base portion 13 are arranged in the base color. In the transition stripe 15, which is arranged therebetween, the warp yarns 11 with the transition yarn fineness comprise signifi-cantly finer warp yarns 11, for example twice as fine, i.e. half the weight per length.
[0026] In this advantageous embodiment, the transition stripe 15 com-prises four warp yarns 11 with the transition yarn fineness, wherein the two warp yarns 11 on the side facing the base por-tion 13, on the left in Figure 2, comprise the base color. The two warp yarns 11 on the side toward the stripe 14, right in the figure, comprise the stripe color of the stripe 14. The color transition from the base color to the stripe color is thus centered between the four warp yarns 11 of the transition stripe 15, whereby the transition is produced by the transi-tion yarn fineness with a very smooth edge in comparison, which improves the visual appearance without significantly af-fecting the mechanical and haptic properties of the seat belt webbing 10. In this advantageous embodiment, the weft yarns 12 comprise the base yarn count of the warp yarns 11 of the stripe 14 and the base portions 13, for example 1100 dtex.
Claims
1.Seat belt webbing (10) for a seat belt system of a motor vehicle comprising a woven fabric of warp yarns (11) and weft yarns (12) , wherein- the woven fabric comprises a base color in one or more base portions (13) , and wherein- the seat belt webbing (10) comprises at least one stripe (14) extending parallel to the warp yarns (11) and having a stripe color different from the base color, characterized in that- a transition stripe (15) is arranged at the transition or transitions from the base portion (13) to the stripe or stripes (14) , wherein- the warp yarns (11) of the base portion (13) and of the stripe (14) comprise a base yarn fineness, wherein- the transition stripe or stripes (15) comprise at least two warp yarns (11) having a transition yarn fineness which is finer than the base yarn fineness.2.Seat belt webbing (10) according to claim 1, characterized in that the transition yarn fineness is at least 40%fin-er than the base yarn fineness.3.Seat belt webbing (10) according to any one of the preced-ing claims, characterized in that the transition yarn fineness is 550 dtex.4.Seat belt webbing (10) according to any one of the preced-ing claims, characterized in that the base yarn fineness is 1100 dtex.5.Seat belt webbing (10) according to any one of the preced-ing claims, characterized in that the transition stripe or stripes (15) each comprise four warp yarns (11) .6.Seat belt webbing (10) according to any one of the preced-ing claims, characterized in that a portion of the warp yarns (11) of each transition stripe (15) comprises the base color and a portion of the warp yarns (11) of each transition stripe (15) comprises the stripe color.7.Seat belt webbing (10) according to claim 6, characterized in that two warp yarns (11) of each transition stripe (15) comprise the base color and two warp yarns (11) of each transition stripe (15) comprise the stripe color.8.Seat belt webbing (10) according to claim 6 or 7, charac-terized in that the warp yarns (11) of a transition stripe (15) with the stripe color are adjacent to the stripe (14) , and the warp yarns (11) of a transition stripe (15) with the base color are adjacent to a base portion (13) .9.Seat belt webbing (10) according to any one of the preced-ing claims, characterized in that the fabric of the seat belt webbing (10) comprises a 2 / 2 twill weave.
