Description

PIM DELAY ESTIMATION BASED ON LUTTechnical Field

[0001] The embodiments herein relate generally to the field of mobile communication, and more particularly, the embodiments herein relate to Passive Intermodulation (PIM) delay estimation based on Look-Up Table (LUT) .Background

[0002] PIM is a growing concern for engineers and RF technicians responsible for installing and optimizing a 5G network. The reason mitigating PIM is so important is its negative impact on capacity, data rate, and reliability–all key selling points of 5G.

[0003] As networks grow more complex, crowded and noise-limited, the risk for PIM grows. Much of the current concern is attributed to the rollout of C-band (between 3.7 GHz and 3.98 GHz) used in 5G. Non-RF components that surround base stations can cause PIM problems on 5G signals. Table 1 lists some common internal and external PIM causes.

[0004] Table 1: Common causes of PIM

[0005] The sources of PIM can typically be divided into two types: contact nonlinearity and material nonlinearity. The first cause refers to current flowing through any type of junction between different materials that generates a nonlinear behavior. It mainly includes two types of contacts, namely, metal-metal and metal-insulator-metal type of contacts. Also, loose oxidized or contaminated metallic joints fall in this category. The second cause is material  nonlinearity, which refers to material characterized by a nonlinear current response due to an applied voltage. This type of behavior may be associated to conductive, dielectric, or magnetic properties of materials.

[0006] At present, some algorithms have been designed to cancel PIM, but the results are not ideal. This may be due to the following reasons, for example, the accurate PIM delay information cannot be obtained for modeling, or the Uplink (UL) signal is too large or there are too many interference factors. So the current PIM cancellation can onlybe applied to very limited scenarios.

[0007] The current PIM Cancellation (PIMC) function is modeled by the following two assumptions:

[0008] (1) . PIM is created in the Radio Frequency (RF) domain.

[0009] (2) . PIM is created from the own radio Transmission (TX) signals only.

[0010] Figure 1 shows a simple model of a radio transceiver 100 with PIMC. The system may find the TX signal that generates the PIM based on the PIM delay information estimated by the PIM channel estimation module 101, model the TX signal by the PIM channel model module 102 based on nonlinear modeling methods (such as Volterra polynomial) to generate the PIM model, and then subtract the generated PIM model from the Receiving (RX) signal to complete the PIM cancellation.

[0011] Figure 2 shows the PIMC modes. Although there are many types of PIM sources, PIM sources may be divided into three categories according to the relative relationship, as shown in Figure 2.

[0012] PIMC0 stands for In-line PIM as shown in the part 201, which is also called internal PIM or transmission line PIM. The nonlinear interference in the RX chain is induced by the passive nonlinearities in the transmission line path of the DL signals emitted from the same antenna branch. The In-line PIM has low interference and simple combination, so the delay result may be calculated more accurately. As a result, the In-line PIM may be cancelled in a simple approach.

[0013] The second one is PIMC1 for in-line leakage PIM. As shown in the part 202 in the Figure 2. The difference between PIMC0 and PIMC1 is PIMC1 involves multiple antenna branches. In this case, the combinations of TX are  increased, so it becomes difficult to determine the actual aggressors from all TX combinations. However, the Radio Unit (RU) in this case still has all the information of TX. If the delay information of PIM source is obtained, the PIM can still be canceled.

[0014] PIMC3 is also called external PIM as shown by part 203, which also involves multiple branches, but the PIM source comes from outside the antenna. It may be caused by the nonlinear reflection of metal devices in the external environment, such as metal mesh, garbage cans and so on. This kind of PIM is similar to the previous PIMC1 and can be canceled as long as the delay information is obtained.

[0015] For inter-radio PIM as shown by part 204, as the PIMC function is in the RU, single RU does not have all the TX information, so this kind of PIM are difficult to be canceled at present.

[0016] As seen, if the system can obtain the correct delay information ofPIM, it can cancel PIM in most of cases. Therefore, how to improve the accuracy of PIM delay is the most important part ofPIM research.

[0017] Currently, Time Delay Estimation (TDE) is used to calculate the time delay ofPIM, and then the PIM is modelled based on the calculated time delay and TX signal. The principle of TDE is to calculate the peak value by cross-correlation between RX and TX, to estimate the delay of PIM source according to the peak value. Figure 3 shows the ideal PIM delay estimation from cross-correlation peak.

[0018] Figure 3 is the cross-correlation result under ideal conditions, and the peak can be clearly found. In practice, the calculation of TDE is usually inaccurate, as shown in Figures 4A and 4B, which show the actual PIM delay from cross-correlation peak. As shown in Figure 4A and 4B, multiple peaks of similar height may be generated.

[0019] Figure 5 shows the actual PIM delay estimation from cross-correlation peak. As shown in Figure 5, the PIM peak may also derived from the actual cross-correlation peak for example in Figure 5, for example the PIM peak is a range from 266 to 271. This may be caused by the weak PIM strength, or higher noise make bad randomness of the signal which affects the  cross-correlation calculation.

[0020] Therefore, it is difficult to obtain an accurate delay from the current algorithms such as TDE. A small error in the delay may have a great impact on the modeling, thus affecting the performance of the PIMC. Because TX signal is constantly changing, if the accurate time delay cannot be calculated, it is impossible to know exactly about the PIM generated on the current RX is generated by which TX. Without knowing correct TX information, it is difficult to build an accurate PIM model based on this TX and cancel it in PIMC.

[0021] In practice, many additional operations are used to reduce this error. For example, operations may include stopping the TX traffic data and injecting specific random sequences to improve the accuracy of the cross-correlation function results. For example, operations may include reducing the error of single calculation by hundreds of iterative calculations. These existing methods all improve the accuracy of calculation from the perspective of algorithm, and they can improve the accuracy of the calculation results to a certain extent.

[0022] However, the current problem is that even if the above operations are added, the accuracy of the results cannot be guaranteed and sometimes it may make the problem more serious. For example, multiple iterations may magnify the wrong results, and higher UL or noise signals will affect the correlation of PIM signal. Therefore, it is a complex problem, except for the reasons mentioned above, many factors are also involved like noise, influence of other antennas, uplink user data and so on.

[0023] It is a long-term direction about algorithm optimization or additional operations to improve calculation accuracy of TDE and thus affecting the performance of PIMC. However, at this stage, both have encountered bottlenecks. The result error brought by the algorithm is usually difficult to eliminate. Because there are too many interference factors in the system, no matter how advanced the algorithm is, it can only approximate the ideal result.Summary

[0024] In view of the above, the embodiments herein propose methods, apparatus, computer readable medium and computer program product for PIM delay estimation based on LUT.

[0025] In some embodiments, there proposes a method for estimating a time delay for a PIM of a radio equipment. The method may comprise the step of determining a first time delay TTDE based on a TDE. The method may further comprise the step of determining, from a LUT, a second time delay TLUT according to the first time delay TTDE. The method may further comprise the step of calculating a difference Tdiff between the first time delay TTDE and the second time delay TLUT. The method may further comprise the step of selecting the second time delay TLUT as the estimated time delay Test, in response to the difference Tdiffis less than a threshold Trt.

[0032] In an embodiment, the method may further comprise the step of adding the first time delay TTDE into the LUT or replacing the second time delay TLUT with the first time delay TTDE, if a number of selecting the first time delay TTDE as the estimated time delay Test is greater than a threshold number  N.

[0033] In an embodiment, the threshold Trt may be set to a fixed value between 3 to 5, or a ratio to the second time delay TLUT.

[0034] In an embodiment, the threshold Trt may be set according to an accuracy of the TDE, a testing on the radio equipment, a simulation on the radio equipment, a noise and / or interfere condition of the radio equipment, and / or one or more parameters of the radio equipment.

[0035] In an embodiment, the method may further comprise the step of modeling the PIM according to the estimated time delay Test.

[0039] In an embodiment, one or more of the first time delay TTDE, the second time delay TLUT, the difference Tdiff, the threshold Trt, and the estimated time delay Test, is an integer or a fraction.

[0056] Detailed Description of Embodiments

[0057] Embodiments herein will be described in detail hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which embodiments are shown. These embodiments herein may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiments set forth herein. The elements of the drawings are not necessarily to scale relative to each other.

[0058] Reference to "one embodiment" or "an embodiment" means that a particular feature, structure or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment is included in at least one embodiment. Thus, the appearances of the phrase "in an embodiment" appearing in various places throughout the specification are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment.

[0059] The term "A, B, or C" used herein means "A" or "B" or "C" ; the term "A, B, and C" used herein means "A" and "B" and "C" ; the term "A, B, and / or C" used herein means "A" , "B" , "C" , "A and B" , "A and C" , "B and C" or "A, B, and C" .

[0060] The following table 2 shows the peak result of TDE cross-correlation from the actual measured data. Based on priori information, the accurate value is 485, but the TDE results are 482 and 486 (shown by the bold and underlined numbers) , which means that the current TDE algorithm can find the vicinity of peak but cannot accurately calculate the delay result due to some unknown interference.

[0061] Table 2 cross-correlation result for TDE

[0062] That is, although current algorithms cannot avoid errors, in most cases, the algorithm can calculate to the vicinity of the peak value. The accuracy of PIMC can be further improved through other perspectives.

[0063] In actual scenarios, most PIMC problems usually occur in some specific places. For example, contact nonlinearity is a classical type of PIM source, which means that the connectors on the cable and the contact points of different media in the signal transmission belong to the high probability occurrence point of PIM source. Moreover, there are also some fixed high-incidence PIM points in the external environment, such as a metal fence or a streetlamp. These points are usually fixed in the system. When using them as priori information, the accuracy ofPIM delay calculation maybe improved.

[0064] Figure 6 shows a network node 600 of a wireless communication network for implementing embodiments of the embodiments herein.

[0065] As used herein, the network node refers to equipment capable, configured, arranged and / or operable to communicate directly or indirectly with a UE and / or with other network nodes or equipment, in a telecommunication network. Examples of network nodes include, but are not limited to, access points (APs) (e.g., radio access points) , base stations (BSs) (e.g., radio base stations, Node Bs, evolved Node Bs (eNBs) and NR NodeBs (gNBs) ) .

[0066] Base stations may be categorized based on the amount of coverage they provide (or, stated differently, their transmit power level) and so, depending on the provided amount of coverage, may be referred to as femto base stations, pico base stations, micro base stations, or macro base stations. Abase station may be a relay node or a relay donor node controlling a relay. Anetwork node may also include one or more (or all) parts of a distributed radio base station such as centralized digital units and / or remote radio units (RRUs) , sometimes referred to as Remote Radio Heads (RRHs) . Such remote radio units may or may not be integrated with an antenna as an antenna integrated radio. Parts of a distributed radio base station may also be referred to as nodes in a distributed antenna system (DAS) .

[0067] Other examples of network nodes include multiple transmission point  (multi-TRP) 5G access nodes, multi-standard radio (MSR) equipment such as MSR BSs, network controllers such as radio network controllers (RNCs) or base station controllers (BSCs) , base transceiver stations (BTSs) , transmission points, transmission nodes, multi-cell / multicast coordination entities (MCEs) , Operation and Maintenance (O&M) nodes, Operations Support System (OSS) nodes, Self-Organizing Network (SON) nodes, positioning nodes (e.g., Evolved Serving Mobile Location Centers (E-SMLCs) ) , and / or Minimization of Drive Tests (MDTs) .

[0068] In an embodiment, the network node 600 may include radio equipment 601 such as wireless transceiver for transmitting and receiving the radio signals. The network node 600 may further include a PIMC module 602 to cancel the PIM signal in the radio equipment 601.

[0069] In an embodiment, the PIMC module 602 may include a TDE module 610. The TDE module 610 in PIMC 602 is an existing module in the current system. It obtains the data of TX and RX from the downlink and uplink, then performs cross-correlation calculation, and determines the PIM delay by searching the peak of cross-correlation results through multiple iterations.

[0070] Currently, the problem is that for example, if there is interference in the system or the PIM intensity is too low, the calculated results usually have some errors. In addition, there are also other such factors that may lead to inaccurate results. Due to this kind of error is usually caused by external environment conditions, it is difficult to solve it by algorithm optimizations.

[0071] In the embodiments herein, an apparatus or module may be introduced to the PIMC 620 for make further improvement for the result of the existing algorithm, such as TDE. In an embodiment, but not limited, the introduced apparatus or module may be referred as Priority Recommendation Module (PRM) 620 in the following descriptions.

[0072] In an embodiment, the PRM 620 may adopt additional processing to the TDE result and output a higher reliable PIM delay result. This processing may improve the accuracy of the existing results to some extent and compensate the problems that cannot be solved by the algorithm.

[0073] The PRM 620 may optimize the existing results without any negative  impact on the existing design. After adding the PRM 620, the existing PIM delay estimation functions still work properly.

[0074] Note that the PRM 620 is not mandatory. It only optimizes the existing results. The original time delay algorithm can still be adopted by the system.

[0075] In an embodiment, the PRM 620 may include a PIM priority LUT 621. The LUT 621 may be a one-dimensional array containing dozens ofvalues. In an embodiment, the LUT 621 may be implemented by a few registers or RAM resources, thus will not substantially consume hardware resources. The LUT 621 may include time delay values for high probability PIM occurrence points, including in-line and out-line PIM sources. The values may be measured by specific instruments under specific circumstances, and thus they have high reliability.

[0076] For PIM sources which are gradually away from the start point in the RU, the data in the LUT 621 are usually incremental. Figure 7 shows several PIM sources with high probability. As shown in the Figure 7, 9 PIM sources are illustrated.

[0077] The P0 and P1 shown in Figure 7 represent the PIM sources that may appear inside the RU, which are usually caused by aging of some on-board components. The P2 and P4 shown in Figure 7 are the interface of a RF cable, where the PIM is usually generated due to the looseness and rust of these connectors. P3 shown in Figure 7 represents the part of the RF cable that may be bent. In fact, this kind of PIM is not easy to be calculated in advance. P5 may occur at the antenna panel. P6 to P8 shown in Figure 7 represent the PIM generated by the reflection of some long-term fixed metal bodies in the external environment, such as rails, garbage cans, etc.

[0078] The LUT 621 may be established via the following steps:

[0079] a. Loosening connector or place steel ball to generate PIM in specific places with high probability ofPIM occurrence, for example the above P0-P8;

[0080] b. Creating a clean environment with low noise and no uplink signal for overall system;

[0081] c. Using professional PIM tester or through TDE function in radio to calculate the accurate delay information of these specific points in the clean  environment; and

[0082] d. Summarizing these highly reliable delay data into the LUT 621 for subsequent priority recommendation.

[0083] As seen, in an embodiment, the LUT may be established according to a testing on the radio equipment when setting up the radio equipment. In addition, the LUT may be established according to the historical data of the radio equipment.

[0084] According to the measurement of above PIM points such as P0-P8, a one-dimensional PIM priority LUT is may be obtained. For example, table 3 shows a priority recommendation LUT. From left to right are the delay values of P0 to P8.

[0085] Table 3. Priority recommendation LUT

[0086] The delay data in LUT are in the unit of sampling cycles. The delay data may be multiplied by the sampling period to obtain the delay of the PIM. For example, the data of P3 is 105 sampling cycles. If the sample rate is 245.76MHz, the time delay ofit should be 427ns.

[0087] Example:

[0088] After the PIM priority LUT 621 is established, the PRM 620 may start PIM priority recommendation processing. When receiving the TDE result TTDE, a time delay value adjacent the TDE result may be retrieve from the LUT 621. The retrieve high probability PIM occurrence point has the LUT value TLUT.

[0089] In an embodiment, the PRM 620 may further include a subtracting module 622. The subtracting module 622 may subtract the TDE result TTDE from the LUT value TLUT to obtain the difference Tdiff.

[0090] In an embodiment, the PRM 620 may further include an absolute value calculation module 623. The absolute value calculation module 623 may calculate the absolute value of the difference Tdiff.

[0091] In an embodiment, the PRM 620 may further include a compactor module 624. The compactor module 624 may compare the absolute value of Tdiff with a recommendation threshold Trt to decide whether to use TTDE or TLUT as the  final higher reliability PIM delay. Trt may be determined from the system configuration.

[0092] In an embodiment, the threshold Trt may be obtained through testing or simulation. Alarger threshold may increase the recommendation success rate, and a smaller threshold may increase the recommendation credibility. The threshold Trt may set based on a tradeoff is performed between the recommendation success rate and the recommendation credibility.

[0093] In an embodiment, the threshold Trt may be set to a fixed value between 3 to 5, or a ratio to the time delay TLUT. That is, the threshold Trt may be set to a larger number for a larger TLUT, and set to a smaller value for a smaller TLUT.

[0094] In an embodiment, the threshold Trt may be set according to an accuracy of the TDE, a testing on the radio equipment, asimulation on the radio equipment, a noise and / or interfere condition of the radio equipment, and / or one or more parameters of the radio equipment.

[0095] In an embodiment, the threshold Trt may be fixed for a chip but can be changed if needed. This depending on the accuracy of the chip's TDE algorithm. If the algorithm is enough accurate, the threshold can be set to a smaller value to prioritize the results of the algorithm's calculation. If the algorithm is not accurate enough, the threshold will be larger to compensate for the error caused by the algorithm through LUT.

[0096] In an embodiment, the PRM 620 may further include a selector module 625. The selector module 625 may decide whether to use TTDE or TLUT as the final higher reliability PIM delay based on the comparison result from the compactor module 624.

[0097] The expression for the processing can be presented as follows:

[0098] HRPD represents Higher Reliability PIM Delay. TLUT and Trt are the parameter that already stored and configured in the PRM 620, and TTDE is the input signal of the PRM 620. The function min () is a subtracting function, and the function abs () is an absolute value function.

[0099] Usually, the LUT information in the LUT 621 will remain unchanged for  a long time, but there may be some cases where the system needs to update the LUT information, for example, the maintainers replace a longer cable than original one. This will cause some LUT information distortion.

[0100] In an embodiment, the PRM 620 may further include an optional self-update module 626. The self-update module 626 may update the priority recommendation LUT 621, if needed.

[0101] In an embodiment, the self-update module 626 may perform regularly monitoring on the LUT reliability for example periodically. For example, the self-update module 626 may regularly monitor whether there is change on the total delay of the whole loopback link, such as (RU→Antenna→RU) , the total delay may be the sum of the time delay of downlink and uplink, i.e., Ttotal= TDL+TUL.

[0102] For example, the self-update module 626 may check whether there is a change on the system, e.g., in response to an event. The self-update module 626 may prompt that the LUT information needs to be updated if so. Otherwise, the self-update module 626 may keep monitoring.

[0103] For example, the dash link in Figure 6 illustrates the self-update function. When the self-update module 626 observes that a higher reliable result occurring more than a certain number of times, the result TTDE from TDE may be used to replace the respective existing LUT value TLUT. The PIM may be well canceled based on this result. The system then may update this result (Tsu) to the LUT 621. In this self-update way, the LUT 621 may continuously improve itself along with the system. This may ensure that the system always have high reliability results.

[0104] The PRM 620 may avoid external interference or algorithm errors and obtain a more reliable result for PIMC function. The more reliable results can also be used for other PIM-related functions, such as PIM locating, PIM detecting. The embodiments can solve the error problem that cannot be solved by existing algorithms, because all calculations of the existing algorithms cannot avoid the result error caused by interference ofinput information.

[0105] The embodiments require very few additional system resources. The PRM 620 may be realized through software. The priority recommendation  LUT 621 does not take up much hardware resources, it only needs a small amount of RAM or register resources.

[0106] The embodiments are easy to implement without any complicated algorithms. So, it does not take much effort to adopt the embodiments. Once the LUT is established, it can be used for a long time. And if needed, the LUT can be updated at any time to maintain highly reliable recommendation results, which make PRM continuously optimize itself for future using.

[0107] The follows are two examples according to the above time delay estimation based on LUT.

[0108] In an example, assume the input TTDE is 247 and Trt is set to be 3.

[0109] After inputting the TTDE to the LUT, the nearest delay value may be obtained as TLUT, which should be 245 for P4. Then TTDE is subtracted from TLUT to get the Tdiffvalue, which is-2. The absolute value of Tdiffis 2, which is less than Trt, then the TLUT=245 is output as HRPD.

[0110] That is, assume TTDE=247, Trt=3:

[0111] TTDE+LUT→TLUT=245

[0112] TLUT-TTDE=Tdiff=245-247=-2

[0113] abs (Tdiff) =2<Trt=3

[0114] output TLUT=245=HRPD

[0115] In another example, assume the input TTDE is 515 and Trt is set to be 3.

[0116] After inputting the TTDE to the LUT, the nearest delay value may be obtained as TLUT, which should be 522 for P7. Then TTDE is subtracted from TLUT to get the Tdiffvalue, which is 7. The absolute value of Tdiff is 7, which is less than Trt, then the TTDE=515 is output as HRPD.

[0117] That is, assume TTDE=515, Trt=3:

[0118] TTDE+LUT→TLUT=522

[0119] TLUT-TTDE=Tdiff=522-515=7

[0120] abs (Tdiff) =7>Trt=3

[0121] output TTDE=515=HRPD

[0122] In the above embodiments, the time delay TTDE, the time delay TLUT, the difference Tdiff, the threshold Trt, and the estimated time delay Test (i.e., HRPD)  are an integer. Note that one or more of these values may be fraction, to make the recommendation more accurate.

[0123] In summary, the embodiments herein may improve the accuracy of TDE results, which may avoid the result error caused by calculation. In addition, the embodiments herein have a self-update mechanism, which may always maintain a high reliable recommendation ability.

[0124] Figure 8 is a schematic flow chart showing an example PIM time delay estimation method 800, according to the embodiments herein. In an embodiment, the flow chart in Figure 8 may be implemented in a system architecture shown in Figure 6, for example implementedby the PRM 620.

[0125] The method 800 may begin with step S801, in which the PRM 620 may check, periodically or in response to an event, whether the TDE is started. If the TDE is not started, the PRM 620 may wait the next timing to check.

[0126] If the TDE is started, the method 800 may proceed to step S802, in which the PRM 620 may determine the time delay based on TDE, e.g., the PRM 620 may get the TDE results of the TDE module 610, TTDE.

[0127] Therefore, the priority recommendation herein may work only when the system needs TDE calculation results and does not work in the rest of the time, therefore it will not increase power consumption.

[0128] Then, the method 800 may proceed to step S803, in which the PRM 620 may get TLUT from the PIM priority LUT 621 according to the TTDE. In an example, when the TDE module 610 calculates a PIM delay (TTDE) , the PRM 620 may compare the delay TTDE with the LUT 621 to find the closest LUT value (TLUT) .

[0129] Then, the method 800 may proceed to step S804, in which the PRM 620 may calculate the difference between TTDE and TLUT. The difference may be calculated as Tdiff=TTDE-TLUT.

[0130] Then, the method 800 may proceed to step S805, in which the PRM 620 may compare Tdiffand Trt.

[0131] Then, depending on the comparison result, the method 800 may proceed to step S806 or step S807.

[0132] In step S806, the PRM 620 may make no recommendation, in response to that abs (Tdiff) ≥Trt. Then the system can continue to use TTDE for subsequent calculation.

[0133] In step S807, the PRM 620 may recommend the system to use TLUT to replace the TTDE for subsequent PIM modeling and cancellation, in response to that abs (Tdiff) <Trt.

[0134] Then, the method 800 may proceed to step S808, in which the PRM 620 may output the estimated time delay value Test, i.e., HRPD.

[0135] The PRM 620 may help the system improve the accuracy of PIM modeling by outputting an accurate estimated time delay value Test, thus improving the PIM cancelation function. In addition, it can also be used to improve PIM locating, PIM detecting, and other functions related to PIM delay.

[0136] Although not shown in Figure 8, the method may further comprise the step of modeling the PIM according to the estimated time delay Test. For example, the the PIM channel model module 102 shown in Figure 1 may be used to model the TX signal based on nonlinear modeling methods (such as Volterra polynomial) to generate the PIM model.

[0137] The method may further comprise the step of canceling the PIM from a received signal of the radio equipment. For example, as shown in Figure 1, the generated PIM model may be subtracted from the RX signal to complete the PIM cancellation. In an embodiment, the PIM is 3-order PIM, 5 order-PIM, or higher-order PIM.

[0138] In an embodiment, the method 800 may further comprise an optional step S809, in which the PRM 620 may check whether a higher reliable result occurring more than a certain number of times (for example N times) . If so, the method 800 may proceed to step S810, in which the PRM 620 may replace the respective existing LUT value TLUT with the result TTDE from TDE, or the PRM 620 may add the result TTDE from TDE into the LUT 621 without deleting the respective existing LUT value TLUT.

[0139] Figure 9 is a schematic block diagram showing an example apparatus 900  for PIM power estimation, according to the embodiments herein. In an embodiment, the apparatus 900 in Figure 9 may be implemented as the above PRM 620.

[0140] In an embodiment, the apparatus 900 may include at least one processor 901; and a non-transitory computer readable medium 902 coupled to the at least one processor 901. The non-transitory computer readable medium 902 may store instructions executable by the at least one processor 901, whereby the at least one processor 901 is configured to perform the steps in the example method 800 as shown in the schematic flow charts of Figure 8; the details thereof are omitted here.

[0141] Note that, the apparatus 900 may be implemented as hardware, software, firmware and any combination thereof. For example, the apparatus 900 may include a plurality ofunits, circuities, modules or the like, each ofwhich may be used to perform one or more steps of the example method 800, or each of which may be used to implement one or more of the PIM priority LUT 621, the subtracting module 622, the absolute value calculation module 623, the compactor module 624, the selector module 625, and the self-update module 626.

[0142] Figure 10 is a schematic block diagram showing an example computer-implemented apparatus 1000, according to the embodiments herein. In an embodiment, the apparatus 1000 may be configured as the above mentioned apparatus such as a network node (eNB or gNB) , or the PRM 620. In an embodiment, the apparatus 1000 may be configured as one or more of the PIM priority LUT 621, the subtracting module 622, the absolute value calculation module 623, the compactor module 624, the selector module 625, and the self-update module 626.

[0143] In an embodiment, the apparatus 1000 may include but not limited to at least one processor such as Central Processing Unit (CPU) 1001, a computer-readable medium 1002, and a memory 1003. The memory 1003 may comprise a volatile (e.g., Random Access Memory, RAM) and / or non-volatile memory (e.g., a hard disk or flash memory) . In an embodiment, the  computer-readable medium 1002 may be configured to store a computer program and / or instructions, which, when executed by the processor 1001, causes the processor 1001 to carry out any of the above mentioned methods.

[0144] In an embodiment, the computer-readable medium 1002 (such as non-transitory computer readable medium) may be stored in the memory 1003. In another embodiment, the computer program may be stored in a remote location for example computer program product 1004 (also may be embodied as computer-readable medium) , and accessible by the processor 1001 via for example carrier 1005.

[0146] Example embodiments are described herein with reference to block diagrams and / or flowchart illustrations of computer-implemented methods, apparatus (systems and / or devices) and / or non-transitory computer program products. It is understood that a block of the block diagrams and / or flowchart illustrations, and combinations of blocks in the block diagrams and / or flowchart illustrations, may be implemented by computer program instructions that are performed by one or more computer circuits. These computer program instructions may be provided to a processor circuit of a general purpose computer circuit, special purpose computer circuit, and / or other programmable data processing circuit to produce a machine, such that the instructions, which execute via the processor of the  computer and / or other programmable data processing apparatus, transform and control transistors, values stored in memory locations, and other hardware components within such circuitry to implement the functions / acts specified in the block diagrams and / or flowchart block or blocks, and thereby create means (functionality) and / or structure for implementing the functions / acts specified in the block diagrams and / or flowchart block (s) .

[0147] These computer program instructions may also be stored in a tangible computer-readable medium that may direct a computer or other programmable data processing apparatus to function in a particular manner, such that the instructions stored in the computer-readable medium produce an article of manufacture including instructions which implement the functions / acts specified in the block diagrams and / or flowchart block or blocks. Accordingly, embodiments of present inventive concepts may be embodied in hardware and / or in software (including firmware, resident software, micro-code, etc. ) that runs on a processor such as a digital signal processor, which may collectively be referred to as “circuitry, ” “amodule” or variants thereof.

[0148] It should also be noted that in some alternate implementations, the functions / acts noted in the blocks may occur out of the order noted in the flowcharts. For example, two blocks shown in succession may in fact be executed substantially concurrently or the blocks may sometimes be executed in the reverse order, depending upon the functionality / acts involved. Moreover, the functionality of a given block of the flowcharts and / or block diagrams may be separated into multiple blocks and / or the functionality of two or more blocks of the flowcharts and / or block diagrams may be at least partially integrated. Finally, other blocks may be added / inserted between the blocks that are illustrated, and / or blocks / operations may be omitted without departing from the scope of inventive concepts. Moreover, although some of the diagrams include arrows on communication paths to show a primary direction of communication, it is to be understood that communication may occur in the opposite direction to the depicted arrows.

[0149] Many variations and modifications can be made to the embodiments without substantially departing from the principles of the present inventive concepts. All such variations and modifications are intended to be included herein within the scope of present inventive concepts. Accordingly, the above disclosed subject matter is to be considered illustrative, and not restrictive, and the appended examples of embodiments are intended to cover all such modifications, enhancements, and other embodiments, which fall within the spirit and scope of present inventive concepts. Thus, to the maximum extent allowed by law, the scope of present inventive concepts are to be determined by the broadest permissible interpretation of the present disclosure including the following examples of embodiments and their equivalents, and shall not be restricted or limited by the foregoing detailed description.
