Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Access control system
[0001] The invention relates to an access control system and method and to a door panel for this access control system.
[0002] Application US10074224B2 describes an access control system comprising an electronic lock mounted on a door and incorporating:
[0003] - a keyboard for acquiring an opening code, and
[0004] - an intercom comprising a camera, a microphone, a speaker and a button call to establish videophone communication with a remote terminal.
[0005] The remote terminal contacted via the intercom can remotely trigger the unlocking of the door.
[0006] With this access control system, a person who knows the opening code can trigger the unlocking of the door by entering this opening code using the keypad. It is therefore possible to unlock the door without having to contact the remote terminal.
[0007] The system of application US10074224B2 is also advantageous in that if a person is unable to unlock the door because they do not know the correct opening code, then they can still contact the resident via the intercom so that the latter can open the door for them. To do this, they must press the call button on the intercom. The intercom of the system of application US10074224B2 allows communication to be established with the resident even if the latter is outside their home. Then, the resident can remotely unlock the door and thus allow the person present at the door to enter. Thus, even when they do not have the correct opening code and even if the resident is outside their home, it is still possible to authorize a person to enter while maintaining a good level of security.
[0008] The invention aims to propose an access control system which retains the advantages of the access control system of application US10074224B2 while being simpler to use.

[0057] In these figures, the same references are used to designate the same elements. In the remainder of this description, the characteristics and functions well known to those skilled in the art are not described in detail.
[0058] In this description, detailed examples of embodiments are first described in a chapter I with reference to the figures. Then, in a chapter II, variants of these embodiments are introduced. Finally, the advantages of the different embodiments are specified in a chapter III.
[0059] Chapter I: Example of embodiment
[0060] [Fig.l] represents an access control system 2. The system 2 is designed to control access to a premises. Subsequently, system 2 is described in the specific case where the premises is a resident's home.
[0061] System 2 makes it possible to ensure that each person who enters the home has been authorized to do so. For this purpose, system 2 includes:
[0062] - an entrance door 4,
[0063] - a remote terminal 6 intended to be used by the resident, and
[0064] - an access control device 8.
[0065] Door 4 is located at the entrance to the resident's home. This door 4 delimits the interior of the home from the exterior of the home. Thus, hereinafter, the terms "interior" and "exterior" designate everything located, respectively, inside and outside the home.
[0066] For example, door 4 is a landing door of an apartment or a house or any other dwelling. Door 4 has an inner face 9 facing the interior of the home and, on the opposite side, an outer face. The inner and outer faces extend mainly in parallel vertical planes. Door 4 is movable between an open position, shown in [Fig.l], and a closed position. In the open position, a person can freely enter the interior of the home and therefore move from the outside to the inside. Conversely, in the closed position, the person cannot enter the interior of the home.
[0067] In [Fig.l], the terminal 6 is located outside the home and may be several kilometers away from the home. For example, here, the terminal 6 is a mobile terminal that the resident can take with him when he is outside his home.
[0068] The terminal 6 is capable of establishing a videophone communication. For this purpose, it comprises remote intercom equipment 20. The equipment 20 comprises: a screen 22, a camera 24, a microphone 26, a loudspeaker 28 and an unlocking key 40. It is also capable of implementing the access control method of [Fig. 3]. In particular, it is capable of sending an unlocking command to the access control device 8 via a large network 30 telecommunication distance in response to the actuation of key 40. For this, it also includes:
[0069] - a memory 32 comprising the data and instructions necessary for perform the process of [Fig.3],
[0070] - a microprocessor 34 capable of executing the instructions recorded in the memory 32,
[0071] - a human-machine interface 36, and
[0072] - a transceiver 38.
[0073] The transceiver 38 connects the terminal 6 to the device 8 via the network 30. The network 30 is, for example, a wireless telephone network or the Internet network.
[0074] The terminal 6 is for example a smartphone or a mobile phone.
[0075] The access control device 8 comprises:
[0076] - an access rights reader 40,
[0077] - an external intercom equipment 42, and
[0078] - an electronic lock 44.
[0079] Here, the electronic lock 44 is an electronic door strip. Thus, subsequently, the numerical reference 44 is also used to designate this door strip.
[0080] The reader 40 and the equipment 42 are accessible from outside the home. To illustrate this, in [Fig.l], they are shown in dotted lines.
[0081] For example, here, the reader 40 is fixed, without any degree of freedom, on an exterior wall of the home located near the door 4. The reader 40 is able to acquire the access rights of a person located on the exterior side of the door 4 and to transmit them to the strip 44. For this purpose, the reader 40 is connected to the strip 44 via a wireless information transmission link 46. The link 46 is for example a link between the strip 44 and the reader 40 established via a local information transmission network such as a WiFi network. The link 46 can also be established using other telecommunications standards such as, for example, via a Bluetooth link.
[0082] In this embodiment, the reader 40 is a badge reader. An example of such a badge readable by the reader 40 is shown in [Fig.l] and bears the reference numeral 50. The badge 50 is a badge that can be carried by hand by a human being. The badge 50 includes a memory 52 in which access rights 54 are recorded. For example, here, the memory 52 is the memory of a radio tag better known by the English terms “RFID tag” (“Radio Frequency Identification Tag”) or “RFID transponder”. In this case, the reader 40 is capable of reading the access rights 54 via a short-distance radio link. Typically, the reader 40 only allows reading the access rights recorded in a badge located within 1 m or less than 50 cm of the reader 40. Preferably, the badge 50 is a badge that does not have its own power source. The badge 50 is only powered by the reader 40 when it is in proximity to this reader.
[0083] The intercom equipment 42 is fixed on the outer face of the door 4. It allows videophone communication to be established with a person present in front of the door on the outside. For this purpose, the equipment 42 comprises a camera 60, a microphone 62, a loudspeaker 64 and a call button 66. The equipment 42 is connected to the strip 44 via a wired or wireless connection.
[0084] Here, the strip 44 is a multi-point door strip. The strip 44 is mounted, without any degree of freedom, on the inner face 9 of the door 4.
[0085] The strip 44 is in the form of a single piece inside which are housed the various components described with reference to [Fig.2]. For this purpose, the strip 44 is in the form of a rigid housing 70 inside which its various components are fixed. The housing 70 is here fixed along the vertical edge of the door 4 located on the side opposite the hinges. The housing 70 is fixed on the inner face 9, for example, using screws. Thus, advantageously, the strip 44 can be installed on the inner face of a pre-existing door.
[0086] In [Fig.l], only the components of the strip 44 which protrude from the housing 70 or pass through this housing 70 are visible. Thus, only the following components of the strip 44 are visible in [Fig.l]:
[0087] - a handle 72,
[0088] - deadbolts 74,
[0089] - a half-turn bolt 76, and
[0090] - a touch screen 78 accessible by a person located inside the home.
[0091] The bolt 76 is movable by the handle 72 from an extended position (shown in [Fig.l]) to a retracted position. In the extended position, the bolt 76 is received in a corresponding cavity provided in a frame 80 fixed without any degree of freedom on the frame of the door 4. Thus, in the extended position, the bolt 76 holds the door 4 in its closed position. In its retracted position, the bolt 76 is retracted inside the housing 70 and located outside the cavity provided in the frame 80. When the bolt 76 is in its retracted position, the door 4 can be moved from its closed position to its open position if the latter has previously been unlocked. The bolt 76 is permanently pushed back to its extended position by a return spring. The distal end of the bolt 76 is beveled so that when the door 4 is slammed from its open position to its closed position, by shape cooperation between the beveled end and the frame 80, the bolt 76 pushes into the housing 70 against the force of the return spring to allow the door 4 to reach its closed position. Once the closed position is reached, the return spring automatically returns. automatically the bolt 76 in its extended position which blocks the door 4 in its closed position.
[0092] The handle 72 is movable by hand, by a person located inside the home, from a rest position (shown in [Fig. 1]) to a pushed-in position. For this purpose, here, the handle 72 rotates about a horizontal axis secured to the housing 70. Typically, the handle 72 is fixed to the end of a rod which extends inside the housing 70 to drive the bolt 76 from its extended position to its retracted position when the handle 72 is turned from its rest position to its pushed-in position.
[0093] Each of the deadbolts 74 is movable between an extended position and a retracted position. In the extended position, each bolt 74 is received in a corresponding cavity provided in the frame 80 to lock the door 4 in its closed position. In its retracted position, each bolt 74 is retracted inside the housing 70 and located outside the cavity provided in the frame 80. Thus, when all of the bolts 74 are in their retracted position, the door 4 is unlocked and can be freely moved from its closed position to its open position after pressing the handle 72.
[0094] In [Fig. 1], four deadbolts 74 are shown in their extended position. to make them more visible even if the door 4 is in its open position. For example, each bolt 74 is a cylindrical bar movable in translation between its extended and retracted positions. Unlike the bolt 76, the distal ends of the bolts 74 are not beveled.
[0095] [Fig. 1] also represents an orthogonal XYZ reference frame. The Z direction of this reference corresponds to the vertical. The X and Y directions are horizontal. The X direction is parallel to the vertical plane in which the door 4 mainly extends when it is in its closed position. The X direction is directed from the edge of the door along which the strip 44 is fixed, towards the hinges of this door. The Y direction is directed from the inside of the home towards the outside of the home.
[0096] [Fig.2] schematically represents the interior architecture of the strip 44.
[0097] The strip 44 comprises a bolt mechanism 90 and a system 92 for actuating the mechanism 90.
[0098] The mechanism 90 includes the bolts 74 as well as the linkage necessary to move them between their extended and retracted positions. However, in this embodiment, the mechanism 90 does not include the bolt 76.
[0099] The actuation system 92 moves the mechanism 90 from a protruding state to a retracted state and vice versa. In the protruding state, at least one bolt 74 is in its extended position. Here, in the protruding state, all the bolts 74 are in their extended position. In the retracted state, all the bolts 74 are in their retracted position. For this purpose, for example, the system 92 comprises a toothed wheel meshed with a rack of the bolt mechanism 90. When this toothed wheel rotates, in a first direction, this moves the mechanism 90 from its protruding state to its retracted state. When this same toothed wheel rotates in the opposite direction, this moves the mechanism 90 from the retracted state to its protruding state. In this embodiment, the system 92 does not allow the bolt 76 to be moved. The bolt 76 can only be moved using the handle 72.
[0100] To move the mechanism 90 between its protruding and retracted states, the system 92 comprises an electric motor 94.
[0101] The motor 94 includes a drive shaft 96. When the motor 94 is commanded to move the mechanism 90 to its retracted state, it is the rotation of the shaft 96 which actuates the movement of the mechanism 90.
[0102] The system 92 comprises an output shaft 98 and a mechanism 100 for mechanically coupling the shaft 96 to this shaft 98 to drive it in rotation. The shaft 98 moves the mechanism 90 from its protruding state to its retracted state when it is rotated in one direction and from its retracted state to its protruding state when it is rotated in the opposite direction.
[0103] To control the motor 94, the system 92 comprises a control unit 110. This unit 110 is configured to implement the method of [Fig.3]. For this purpose, the unit 110 comprises:
[0104] - a memory 112,
[0105] - a programmable microprocessor 114,
[0106] - a transceiver 116,
[0107] -1 touch screen 7 8,
[0108] - an opening key 120, and
[0109] - an information transmission bus 118 which connects the different components of unit 110.
[0110] The memory 112 is a non-volatile memory comprising the instructions to be executed by the microprocessor 114. The memory 112 comprises all of the instructions and data necessary to execute the various functions described in this text. In particular, here, it comprises the instructions of an access control software module 122.
[0111] The transceiver 116 is capable of establishing a wireless communication link with the terminal 6 via the network 30.
[0112] The key 120 is here a key formed on the touch screen 78. When the key 120 is pressed by a person located inside the home, this automatically causes the door 4 to unlock.
[0113] Here, the system 92 comprises an internal intercom equipment 130 for establishing a videophone communication. The equipment 130 can be used by a person located inside the home in order to establish a videophone communication with a person located in front of the door 4. This equipment 130 comprises a microphone 132, a loudspeaker 134, the screen 78 and a dialogue key 136. The microphone 132 and the loudspeaker 134 are connected to the unit 110. In this embodiment, the key 136 is a key displayed on the touch screen 78. When it is actuated, it triggers the establishment of a videophone communication with the person located outside and in front of the door 4.
[0114] Here, the unit 110 is also capable of controlling the motor 94 to rotate the shaft 96 in the opposite direction and thus return the mechanism 90 to its protruding state. For example, after a predetermined time has elapsed after the door 4 is in its closed position, the unit 110 automatically controls the motor 94 to return the mechanism 90 to its protruding state. To know if the door 4 is in its closed position, the strip 44 comprises a sensor 132 for opening / closing the door 4 connected to the control unit 110.
[0115] Other features of unit 110 are described later.
[0116] The operation of system 2 will now be described with reference to [Fig.3].
[0117] During a configuration phase 150, the different access conditions that authorize the unlocking of the door 4 are pre-recorded in the memory 112. For example, during this phase 150, the access conditions authorizing the badge 50 to unlock the door 4 are recorded in the memory 112. Here, a first access condition is that the unique identifier of the badge 50 contained in the access rights 54 belongs to a list of identifiers of badges authorized to unlock the door 4. This list is called a “white list”. Furthermore, in the case of badge 50, a second access condition is that this badge 50 is used within a time slot where it is authorized to unlock door 4. Outside of this time slot, badge 50 is not authorized to unlock door 4. The information necessary for establishing a connection with terminal 6 through network 30 is also recorded in memory 112.
[0118] Once the configuration phase 150 is completed, a phase 152 of use of the system 2 is executed.
[0119] A person presents the badge 50 in front of the reader 40. In response, during a step 160, the reader 40 acquires the access rights 54 and transmits them to the control unit 110.
[0120] During a step 162, the access control module 122 then determines whether the access rights 54 satisfy all the access conditions pre-recorded in the memory 112.
[0121] For example, the module 122 checks that the identifier of the badge 50 belongs to the whitelist and that the current date and time are within the authorized time range.
[0122] If so, the method continues immediately with a step 164 during which the unit 110 sends an unlocking command to the motor 94.
[0123] In response to the unlocking command, during a step 166, the motor 94 moves the mechanism 90 from its protruding state to its retracted state.
[0124] The door 4 can then be moved from its closed position to its open position by the person who presented the badge 50 in front of the reader 40.
[0125] If during step 162, the module 122 determines that at least one of the access conditions is not satisfied by the acquired access rights, then it immediately proceeds to a step 170 of automatically establishing a videophone communication with the resident's terminal 6. In particular, step 170 is carried out without it being necessary to press the call key 66.
[0126] For example, step 170 is performed when the badge 50 is presented in front of the reader 50 outside the authorized time slot. Step 170 is also performed when a badge without access rights is presented in front of the reader 40. For example, the badge without access rights is a badge that has not yet been configured, such as a blank badge, or a badge that is authorized to unlock other doors but not door 4.
[0127] During step 170 the images filmed by the camera 60 and the sounds acquired by the microphone 62 are acquired by the unit 110 and then transmitted to the terminal 6 via the network 30. The terminal 6 displays the transmitted images on its screen 22 and plays the sounds received using the loudspeaker 28. At the same time, the sounds acquired by the microphone 26 of the terminal 6 are transmitted to the unit 110 via the network 30 and then played by the loudspeaker 64 of the external equipment 42. Thus, the resident can see the person who attempted to unlock the door 4 even though they do not have the necessary access rights. The resident can also communicate with this person to determine whether or not they should authorize them to unlock the door 4.
[0128] If, after having spoken with the person present in front of door 4, the resident decides to authorize them to enter, they press the unlocking button 40.
[0129] In response, during a step 172, the terminal 6 transmits an unlocking command to the unit 110 via the network 30.
[0130] Then, the method continues with step 164.
[0131] Conversely, if the resident decides not to allow the person to enter, then he does not press the key 40 and no unlocking command is transmitted by the terminal 6 to the control unit 110. The bolt mechanism 90 therefore remains in the projecting state in this case and the door 4 remains locked.
[0132] Here, in parallel with step 172, in response to the fact that at least one of the conditions access rights is not satisfied by the acquired access rights, during a step 176, the unit 110 automatically triggers the display of the images filmed by the camera 60 on the screen 78.
[0133] If the resident is inside his home, he can then see the person who tried to unlock door 4 without using his terminal 6.
[0134] If he wishes to talk to this person, he presses key 136.
[0135] In response, during a step 178, the unit 110 then immediately establishes a communication videophone communication between the resident located inside the home and the person located outside via the equipment 42 and 130. This step 178 is identical to step 170 except that the images filmed by the camera 60 and the sounds acquired by the microphone 62 are reproduced, respectively, on the screen 78 and by the loudspeaker 134. At the same time, the sounds acquired by the microphone 132 are played by the loudspeaker 64 of the external equipment 42.
[0136] If, following this dialogue, the resident wishes to let the person outside in, he presses the opening button 120.
[0137] In response, during a step 180, the unit 110 detects the actuation of the key 120 and then proceeds to step 164 of unlocking the door 4.
[0138] Of course, the opening button 120 can be pressed at any time by a person located inside the home to trigger the unlocking of the door 4. The unit 110 can therefore proceed directly to step 180 without first executing steps 160, 162, 176 and 178.
[0139] A person located outside can also press the call key 66. In response, during a step 190, the unit 110 detects that the call key 66 has been pressed. Then, the unit 110 proceeds directly to step 178 and / or step 172 to establish a dialogue between the resident and the person who pressed the key 66.
[0140] Chapter II: Variants:
[0141] Variants of the access rights reader:
[0142] Other embodiments of the access rights reader are possible. For example, the reader 40 can be replaced by a magnetic card reader. In this case, the badges are in the form of magnetic cards. The reader 40 can also be replaced by a near-field transceiver capable of establishing a short-distance wireless link directly with a mobile terminal such as a smartphone. Such a transceiver is known as an “NFC transceiver (“near-field communication”). In this case, the smartphone fulfills the function of badge and the access rights recorded in the smartphone are, for example, the same as those recorded in the badges.
[0143] The access rights reader can also operate without a badge. For example, the reader is a biometric data reader such as a fingerprint reader. In this case, the access conditions include pre-recorded biometric data.
[0144] The reader 40 can also be replaced by a keypad which allows the person present in front of the door to enter an access code. In this case, the access conditions include a pre-recorded access code.
[0145] In a preferred embodiment, the reader 40 is fixed to the outer face of the door 4. When the reader 40 acquires access rights via a wireless information transmission link, it can also be housed inside the housing 70 of the strip 44. When the reader 40 is fixed to the door 4 or integrated into the strip 44, the link 46 can be a wired link.
[0146] Variants of the external intercom equipment:
[0147] Alternatively, the external intercom equipment 42 also comprises a screen and the terminal 6 comprises a camera. In this case, during the videophone communication, the images of the resident filmed by the camera of his terminal 6 are displayed on the screen of the external equipment 42.
[0148] In a simplified embodiment, the camera 60 of the equipment 42 is omitted. In this case, the communication between the resident and the person in front of the door is only verbal.
[0149] In another embodiment, communication with the terminal 6 is triggered by means other than the actuation of the call button 66. For example, the access control device comprises a presence sensor capable of detecting the presence of a person on the outside of the door. In this case, the establishment of communication with the terminal 6 is automatically triggered as soon as this sensor detects the presence of a person.
[0150] Alternatively, the call key 66 of the external intercom equipment 42 is omitted. In this case, for example, the establishment of communication with the terminal 6 can only be triggered by presenting unauthorized access rights in front of the reader 40.
[0151] In another embodiment, the external equipment 42 is not fixed to the external face of the door 4. For example, the equipment 42 is fixed to the frame or to a wall close to the door 4.
[0152] Door strip variations:
[0153] In a particular embodiment, the control unit 110 is fully or partially remote in a server connected to the access control device via the network 30.
[0154] The electronic door strip may include additional components. For example, the strip includes a mechanical lock cylinder that allows the mechanism 90 to be moved from its protruding state to its retracted state in the event of unavailability of the motor 94. Such unavailability may result from a failure of the motor 94 or another element of the actuation system 92. This unavailability may also result, for example, from a cut in the power supply to the motor 94. The incorporation of such a mechanical cylinder in a door strip is described in detail in the French patent application filed under number FR2203726 on 04 / 21 / 2022 by the company COGELEC.
[0155] The indoor intercom equipment 130 may further comprise a camera for filming the person located inside when they speak into the microphone 132. In this case, the outdoor intercom equipment 40 is also equipped with a screen for displaying the images filmed by the camera of the equipment 130.
[0156] In a particular embodiment, if a person located inside the housing presses the key 136 while the person located outside is already in the process of dialoguing with the user of the terminal 6, then a three-way conversation is established. During this three-way conversation, the person outside, the person inside and the user of the terminal 6 can dialog together via the equipment 20, 42 and 130.
[0157] In a simplified variant, the acquisition of unauthorized access rights does not trigger the display of the images filmed by the camera 60 on the internal screen 78.
[0158] Other access conditions may be recorded in the memory 112. For example, the access conditions may include a blacklist containing the identifiers of the badges for which unlocking of the door 4 is systematically prohibited. The access conditions may also include a condition according to which the authentication of the transmitted access rights is successfully completed. Typically, in this case, the access rights include a digital signature and / or a cryptographic certificate whose authenticity can be verified by the access control module 122.
[0159] In another variant, the internal intercom equipment 130 is omitted. In this case, dialogue with a person located outside via the intercom equipment 42 and 130 is no longer possible. To establish such a dialogue, the person located inside the premises must then use the same terminal 6 as that used remotely.
[0160] In another embodiment, the electronic lock of the access control device is not a door strip fixed on the inner face 9 of the door 4. In this case, for example, the electronic lock is directly integrated into the vertical edge of the door 4. The control unit 110 is then, for example, located inside the room and is not fixed on the door. Typically, the control unit 110 is then connected to the electronic lock via a wireless information transmission link. The opening button 120 is fixed on door 4 or on an interior wall located near door 4.
[0161] The opening button 120 can also be housed in a remote control that the user can or cannot fix to a wall.
[0162] Other variants:
[0163] Whatever the key of the system 2, it can be implemented in the form of a mechanical button and not in the form of a key displayed on a touch screen. Each key can also be implemented in the form of a voice command. For example, in the case of the keys 120 and 136, the voice commands are acquired, for example, by the microphone 132. Thus, by way of illustration, the voice command “Unlock the door” triggers the unlocking of the door 4 and the voice command “Talk” triggers the establishment of the videophone communication with the person outside. Whatever the implementation mode chosen for a key, in this text, it is covered by the term “key”.
[0164] The remote terminal 6 is not necessarily a remote terminal such as a smartphone. For example, if the management of access to the premises has been delegated to a monitoring center, the remote terminal may be a fixed or portable computer located inside this monitoring center.
[0165] In a simplified embodiment, the terminal 6 does not include the camera 24.
[0166] The premises can be a house, an apartment in a building, an office where everything another room whose access must be protected.
[0167] When the call key 66 is pressed, as a variant, the unit 110 executes either only step 170 or only step 176. The choice of the step to be executed is for example pre-configured in the unit 110 during the configuration phase 150.
[0168] Several of the variants described above can be combined in the same embodiment.
[0169] Chapter III: Advantages of the described embodiments:
[0170] The same reader 40 is used to perform two different functions, namely the access rights acquisition function and the remote terminal call key function. This simplifies the architecture of the access control system. This also simplifies its use when unauthorized access rights are acquired because, in this case, the establishment of communication with the terminal 6 is automatic. Thus, the person who presented the unauthorized access rights does not need, in addition, to press the call key 66 to establish this communication with the remote terminal.
[0171] The fact that images of the person who has presented unauthorized access rights are transmitted to the terminal 6 makes it possible to increase the security of the system. Indeed, the resident then has the possibility of visually recognizing this person. This limits the probability that the resident will, by mistake, authorize this person to enter.
[0172] The fact that the bolts, the control unit and the opening button are all integrated into the same door strip simplifies the installation of the access control system. In this case, the installer does not have to worry about how to interface the bolt mechanism, the control unit and the opening button. Everything is pre-connected inside the same electronic door strip.
[0173] Automatically triggering the display of the images filmed by the camera 60 on the interior screen 78 as soon as unauthorized access rights are acquired makes it possible to simply alert a person located inside the premises to the fact that someone is trying to enter. In this case, the same reader 40 also fulfills the function of detecting attempted entry.
[0174] The integration of the interior intercom equipment 130 in the door panel allows a person located inside the premises to establish videophone communication with the person who has presented the unauthorized access rights without using the remote terminal.
