[0032] Of course, the various features, variants, and embodiments of the invention can be combined in various ways, provided they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. Detailed description of the invention
[0033] In addition, various other features of the invention become apparent from the attached description made with reference to the drawings which illustrate non-limiting embodiments of the invention and where:
[0034] [Fig-1] is a functional diagram of an articulated bed base according to the invention, whose low horizontal position is represented here in bold lines and whose raised position is represented in dotted lines;
[0035] [Fig.2] is a perspective view of one possible embodiment of a bed base articulated according to the functional scheme of [Fig.1], here represented in the raised position.
[0036] As can be seen in Figures 1 and 2, the hinged bed base 1 comprises:
[0037] - a rectangular chassis 2 with a median longitudinal axis M,
[0038] - a hinged bed base head frame 3, and
[0039] - a hinged bed base leg frame 4.
[0040] The rectangular chassis 2 includes a median longitudinal axis M, and it consists of two parallel long chassis panels 5, a short head panel 6 and a short foot panel 7.
[0041] The two long sides of the chassis 5 extend parallel to the median longitudinal axis M.
[0042] The short head panel 6 and the short foot panel 7 extend parallel to each other and perpendicular to the median longitudinal axis M.
[0043] The hinged bed base head frame 3 comprises:
[0044] - a proximal head portion 8, a first end 9 of which is carried by a deformable parallelogram system 10 attached to chassis 2, and
[0045] - a distal head portion 11 which is assembled with a second end 12 of the proximal part of head 8 by a first articulation 13.
[0046] Two deformable parallelogram systems 10 are provided opposite each other, on each side of the proximal part of the head 8, fixed to the latter and to the long sides of the chassis 5.
[0047] The articulated bed base 1 further includes control means for the head frame 14 to maneuver the head frame of the bed base 3 in raising and lowering.
[0048] These head frame control means 14 include:
[0049] - two pairs of articulated head links 15, arranged parallel to each other and interposed between a head cross member 16, connecting the two long chassis sides 5, and the distal part of the head 11, which two pairs of head connecting rods 15 are connected by a head control cross member 17, and
[0050] - a head control actuator 18, disposed on the median longitudinal axis M, interposed between the head control cross member 17 and a head median beam 19 which connects the head cross member 16 and the short head panel 6.
[0051] This head control actuator 18 preferably consists of an electric cylinder controlled by a wired or wireless remote control.
[0052] Each pair of head links 15 forms a kind of compass and consists of a proximal link 151 which extends from the head cross member 16, and a distal link 152 which connects in an articulated manner said proximal link 151 and the distal part of the head 11.
[0053] The head control cross member 17 connects the proximal links 151 of the pairs of head links 15.
[0054] The pairs of connecting rods 15 are arranged on either side of the median longitudinal axis M of the bed 1.
[0055] The distal connecting rods 152 of the pairs of head connecting rods 15 are articulated on a cross member 111 of the distal part of the head 11.
[0056] The hinged bed base leg frame 4 comprises:
[0057] - a proximal part of feet 20, a first end 21 of which is integral with the long chassis sections 5 by a second articulation 22, and
[0058] - a distal foot portion 23 which is assembled with a second end 24 of the proximal part of feet 20 by a third joint 25.
[0059] the articulated bed base 1 further includes means for controlling the foot frame 26 to maneuver the bed base foot frame 4 in raising and lowering.
[0060] These means for controlling foot frame 26 include:
[0061] - two pairs of articulated foot links 27, arranged parallel to each other and interposed between a cross member of feet 28, connecting the two long sides of the frame 5, and said distal part of feet 23, which two pairs of connecting rods of feet 27 are connected by a control cross member of feet 29, and
[0062] - a foot control actuator 30, disposed on the median longitudinal axis M, interposed between the 29-foot control beam and a 31-foot median beam which connects the 28-foot cross member and the 7-foot short panel.
[0063] This foot control actuator 30 preferably consists of an electric cylinder controlled by a wired or wireless remote control.
[0064] Each pair of foot links 27 forms a kind of compass and consists of a proximal link 271 which extends from the foot cross member 28, and a distal link 272 which connects in an articulated manner said proximal link 271 and the distal part of feet 23.
[0065] The foot control crossbar 29 connects the proximal links 271 of the link pairs 27.
[0066] The pairs of connecting rods 27 are arranged on either side of the median longitudinal axis M of the bed frame 1.
[0067] The distal connecting rods 272 of the pairs of connecting rods of feet 27 are articulated on a cross member 231 of the distal part of feet 23.
[0068] The head frame of the articulated bed base 3 and the foot frame of the articulated bed base 4 are intended to receive mattress support elements, for example transverse slats not shown.
[0069] Between the articulated head frame of the bed base 3 and the articulated foot frame of the bed base 4, the bed base 1 may include a fixed part of the bed base 32 attached to the two long sides 5. This fixed part of the bed base 32 is also intended to receive mattress support elements, for example transverse slats not shown.
[0070] To optimize the resistance and stability of the articulated bed base frame 4, the end of the distal part of the feet 23 which is opposite said proximal part of the feet 20 is attached to the long sides of the frame 5 by means of lateral connecting rods 34.
[0071] These lateral connecting rods 34 are arranged on each side of the articulated bed base frame 4, along the long sides 5 of the chassis 2.
[0072] One end of each lateral connecting rod 34 is fixed to one of the long sides 5 of the frame 2 by a fixed joint 341, and their other end is fixed to the distal part of the foot 23 of the articulated bed frame foot 4 by a movable joint 342 of the type with circular movement without play.
[0073] The two lateral connecting rods 34 are preferably designed so that the distal part of the feet 23 remains in a horizontal or substantially horizontal plane during the raising and lowering maneuvers of the articulated bed base foot frame 4.
[0074] The head frame of the articulated bed base 3 and the foot frame of the articulated bed base 4 are controlled, in raising and lowering, respectively by the control cylinder 18 and by the control cylinder 30, preferably independently.
[0075] The articulated bed base head frame 3 and the articulated bed base foot frame 4 therefore include their own control means which allow their movements to be decoupled.
[0076] The movements of the hinged headboard 3 and the hinged footboard 4 are therefore not dependent on each other. The hinged headboard 3 can be placed in the lowered position while the hinged footboard 4 is in the lowered or raised position; and this hinged headboard 3 can be placed in the raised position while the hinged footboard 4 is in the lowered or raised position.
[0077] Kinematics of the head frame of the articulated bed base 3
[0078] Starting from the low horizontal position illustrated in [Fig. 1], an extension movement of the rod of the electric jack 18 allows the pair of connecting rods 15 to raise the distal part of the head 11 of the head frame of the articulated bed base 3 by pivoting around the first joint 13, until a mechanical stop of the joint 13 is reached.
[0079] The continued extension of the rod of the cylinder 18 causes an upward pivoting of the proximal part of the head 8, in relation to the deformable parallelogram lateral structures 10, also up to an end of stroke illustrated on [Fig.2] and in dotted lines on [Fig.1].
[0080] A retraction command for the rod of the cylinder 18 results in an inverse sequence of movements.
[0081] In lifting, the movement of the lateral structures of the deformable parallelogram 10 is accompanied by a recoil movement, that is to say a translational movement of the whole of the head frame of the articulated bed base 3, in the direction of the short head panel 6.
[0082] The dimensioning and positioning of the deformable parallelogram systems 10 and the pairs of connecting rods 15 are adapted to obtain the desired sequence of movements.
[0083] Kinematics of the articulated bed base leg frame 4
[0084] Starting from the low horizontal position illustrated in [Fig.1], an extension movement of the rod of the electric jack 30 allows the pair of connecting rods 27 to raise the distal part of the feet 23 of the articulated bed base foot frame 4 by pivoting around the third joint 25, until a mechanical stop is reached on the joint 25.
[0085] The continued extension of the rod of the cylinder 30 causes a pivoting upwards of the proximal part of feet 20, in relation to the second joint 22, also up to an end of travel illustrated on [Fig.2] and in dotted lines on [Fig.1].
[0086] A retraction command for the rod of the cylinder 18 results in an inverse sequence of movements.
[0087] The dimensioning and positioning of the second joint 22, the pairs of connecting rods 27 and the lateral connecting rods 34, are adapted to obtain the desired sequence of movements.
[0088] The articulated bed base 1 has a simple and inexpensive structure, in particular due to the presence of the two jacks placed on the longitudinal axis of the bed base which independently manage the movements of the head and foot frames.
[0089] Advantages of the bed base structure according to the invention:
[0090] - Independent motorization and mechanical structures between the head frame and the foot frame.
[0091] - Movement by linear electric actuators without an angle drive system likely to cause malfunctions.
[0092] - Limited mechanical force requirements (on the order of 4000 N instead of 6000 N) (for previous structures).
[0093] - The mechanical forces are contained in preferably central cross members metallic (head rail 16 and foot rail 28), and there is no longer any stress on the bed frame.
[0094] - The head cross member 16 and the foot cross member 28 stiffen and stabilize the geometry of the bed frame.
