This disclosure proposes a composition comprising hydroxypropyl guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride having an average molecular weight ranging from 2,000,000 to approximately 3,500,000 g / mol; and at least one dye and / or alkaline agent. The composition of this disclosure provides improved color uptake, long-lasting color, and enhanced cosmetic appeal.
