Description

Field of the Invention The present item relates to an item of footwear, more particularly to an item of footwear housing an item of interest in the sole thereof. Background to the Invention Crystal healing is an alternative-medicine practice that uses semiprecious stones and crystals such as quartz, agate, amethyst or opal. Practitioners of crystal healing believe that such semiprecious stones and crystals can boost low energy, prevent bad energy, release blocked energy, and transform a body's aura. In some cases crystals are placed on different parts of the body, often corresponding to chakras; in other cases crystals are placed around the body in an attempt to construct an energy grid, which is purported to surround the body with healing energy. It is also believed that such crystals operate more effectively when they are located close to or in contact with the earth, and are simultaneously located close to or in contact with the body. In particular the Earth Star Chakra (Vasundhara) represents the body’s bond and connection with the planet Earth, and is located outside of the body below the soles of a person’s foot. There is therefore a belief that a crystal placed between the earth and the person’s foot is better able to transmit energy to and from this chakra in particular, especially where there are no barriers therebetween. Summary of the Invention According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided an item of footwear comprising: an outer sole unit having an aperture extending therethrough; an inner sole unit having an aperture extending therethrough; a sealing member located between the outer sole unit and the inner sole unit; and an object of interest located within the sealing member; wherein the object of interest is visible through the aperture of the outer sole unit and the aperture of the inner sole unit and wherein a fluid seal is created between the aperture of the outer sole unit and the aperture of the inner sole unit. Preferably the object of interest is visible and contactable through the aperture of the outer sole unit and the aperture of the inner sole unit Preferably the upper surface of the outer sole unit is provided with a recess about the aperture. Preferably the lower surface of the inner sole unit is provided with a recess about the aperture. Preferably the sealing member is located between the outer sole unit and the inner sole unit. Preferably the sealing member is located between the outer sole unit and the inner sole unit within the recess of the outer sole unit. Preferably the sealing member is located between the outer sole unit and the inner sole unit within the recess of the inner sole unit. Preferably the sealing member is located between the outer sole unit and the inner sole unit within the recess of the outer sole unit and the inner sole unit. Preferably the item of footwear further comprises a midsole unit having an aperture extending therethrough. Preferably the midsole unit is located between the outer sole unit and the inner sole unit. In one alternative at least a portion of the sealing member extends through the aperture of the midsole unit. Preferably the sealing member comprises a first sealing portion and a second sealing portion. Preferably the sealing member comprises a first aperture configured to be aligned with the outer sole unit aperture. Preferably the sealing member comprises a second aperture configured to be aligned with the inner sole unit aperture. Preferably the first sealing portion comprises the first aperture. Preferably the second sealing portion comprises the second aperture. Preferably the first sealing portion further comprises a flange. Preferably the connection between the second sealing portion and the recess of inner sole unit is a fluid seal. Preferably the object of interest comprises a semi-precious stone. Preferably the object of interest comprises a crystal. In an alternative the object of interest comprises a grounding means to allow energy to be transferred from the individual though the object of interest to the ground. In particular the transfer of static energy, or static electricity. This is particularly important when working on computer equipment or with flammable materials where static electricity can be damaging to the computer equipment or cause the flammable material to catch fire. In an alternative the object of interest comprises encapsulated cremation ashes. It is common for cremation ashes of a loved one to be created into jewellery, however, it may not be possible in all instances to wear jewellery, and so this offers an alternative way to keep a loved one close. Preferably the item of footwear further comprises an upper unit. According to a second aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of making an item of footwear according to the first aspect of the present invention comprising the steps of: providing an outer sole unit having an aperture extending therethrough; providing an inner sole unit having an aperture extending therethrough; providing a sealing member with an object of interest located therein; locating the sealing member between the outer sole unit and the inner sole unit; such that the object of interest is visible through the aperture of the outer sole unit and the aperture of the inner sole unit and such that a fluid seal is created between the aperture of the outer sole unit and the aperture of the inner sole unit. When the second sealing portion 26b is located in position as illustrated in Figure 5 the surface 37b of flange 30b mates with the surface 37a of flange 30a of the first sealing portion 26a, as illustrated in Figure 16, to form the sealing member 24. In one alternative the first and second sealing portions 26a, 26b are permanently connected, in another alternative the first and second sealing portions 26a, 26b are detachably connected. In the embodiment illustrated a midsole unit 56 is provided. Figure 6 illustrates a view of the upper surface 58 of midsole unit 56 and Figure 7 illustrates a view of the lower surface 60 of midsole unit 56. The midsole unit 56 is provided with an aperture 62 the aperture corresponds to the size of the main body of the second sealing portion 26b and flange of sealing member 24 such that when in position the midsole unit 56 is in position the second sealing portion 26b extends through aperture 62. However, the midsole unit 56 need not be provided in all alternatives, and in an alternative no midsole unit is provided. Figure 8 illustrates an assembled view the outer sole unit 12 with the first sealing portion 26a of the sealing member 24 in position and with the object of interest 40 in position in the first sealing portion 26a and with the second sealing portion 26b of sealing member 24 in position and with the midsole unit 56 in position. Figure 9 illustrates an assembled of the outer sole unit 12 with the first sealing portion 26a of the sealing member 24 in position and with the object of interest in position 40 in the first sealing portion 26a and with the second sealing portion 26b of the sealing member 24 in position and with the midsole unit 56 in position and with an upper unit 64 in position.
