Description

Field of the Invention The present invention relates to devices which are used as weighted feeder to attract fish to a hook with bait during fishing I angling. Background The use of weighted fishing feeders is known within fishing and angling circles, a common rig for bottom fishing is a weighted tackle called a sinker, which is tied to the end of the fishing line, and a baited hook about an inch up line from the weight. Sometimes the sinker can be replaced by a cage or a keg-like feeder which contains and releases ground bait to attract the fish. The method can be used both with handlining and rod fishing, and can be done both from boats and from the land. The weight can also be used to cast the line to a further, more appropriate distance at deeper water away from the shoreline. Specialized fishing rods called bottom rods or "donkas" are also commonly used for bottom fishing. Due to the lack of a float to relay underwater status to the surface, a quiver tip (often coupled with a jingle bell) is used to signal the fisherman about whether the fish has successfully taken the hook. The objective for rigs used for bottom fishing is to take your bait to the bottom of the water and lure in the fish. The bait must appear natural and appetizing to the fish. An improvement to weighted feeders would be to have the bait release and float away from the rig and baited hook to create a more natural state of feeding in the free water. The bait type may vary but may include boilies because they tend to float due to their composition which is generally of Fishmeals, Milk proteins, Bird foods, Semolina, Soya flour, Egg white, and Flavourings and attractants. This release of the bait when the weighted feeder is under the water at the bottom is achieved in the disclosed invention which is aided by the more deceptive way in which the bait is enclosed as it enters the water and the way the bait is released, which makes the fish less alert of the feeder and its intensions. The prior art therefore shows that there is a need for a more effective weighted feeder for fishing for fish such as carp and other fish. The present invention aims to provide an improved weighted feeder which houses its bait in a PVA transparent bag which is held on a bag holder base with the fishing line and hook threaded through a small hole from the side to the centre of the bag holder bases inner section, placing the hook and its own attached bait among the bait (boilies) within the PVA bag. The bag then dissolves as the feeder sinks into the water, releasing the bait around the hook and the bag holder base. The fish are attracted to this array of floating and rising food and are taken by the hook. Summary of the invention According to the present invention there is provided an improved weighted feeder for use when fishing. The feeder is comprised of a bag holder base which has an outer base ring and a base inner section which slide into each other, a small hole is provided in the centre of said base inner section which goes through to the side and a fishing line is passed through it from the fishing rod. To the end of the fishing line, which has passed through the hole is a fishing line connector swivel with looped ends onto which the fishing line from the rod is connected and a short hook line length is tied to the remaining looped end with a hook and bait. The feeder further comprises a PVA bag, which is preferably transparent. To prepare the feeder the user (fisherman or angler) takes the bag holder base and separates the two components which it is comprised of. The base inner section is preferably a circular disc of weighted plastic with a depth of only a few centimetres. The upper surface of the inner base section is generally convex to create a seating for bait. To the centre of the convex upper surface is a small hole which passes completely through the base to the side. The second component is an outer base ring which is slightly of a larger diameter to that of the aforementioned inner section and is therefore able to be slid over the inner section having a small vertical slot on its side to enable it to pass over the fishing line from the inner base section and has a lip edge to hold it in place. The user takes their fishing line from the rod, which may be directly connected or may be removably connected using a line connector further up toward the rod to enable replacement for repeated replacement and usage. The line is passed through said small hole in the side and through to the centre of the convex upper surface of the base inner section. The line is then tied onto the small line connector swivel which has two opposing looped ends, the remaining looped end has a short length of hook line tied onto it, as shown in the accompanying Figures. The hook then has its own piece of bait attached to it, either directly onto the hook or preferably tied onto the hook to ensure it remains in place during the melee of feeding. The PVA bag is then filled with a generous amount of fishing bait leaving around a quarter of the PVA bag unfilled, to allow for its attachment to the bag holder base. The PVA bag is then generally turned upside down so as to have the opening end of the bag facing the user, the outer base ring is then placed on the outer surface of the PVA bag near the open end, so that the PVA bag is inside the circular ring and the inner base section with the hook and bait already attached is slide within the outer base ring ‘sandwiching’ or clamping the PVA bag between the outer base ring and the outer edges of the inner base section. The inner base section and the outer base ring then fit together holding the PVA bags end and creating a closure on the PVA bags open end. During this process it is recommended that the end of the PVA bag is slightly protruding out of the bottom of the bag holder base and is tuned or folded up to create an excess of PVA bag ensuring that any movement of the bag in the water does not affect its clamping in the bag holder base. The constructed weighted feeder is shown in Figure 1. The user then casts the feeder into the water in an appropriate location and the feeder sinks down into the bottom of the water. Due to its composition the PVA bag then dissolves as the feeder sinks into the water, releasing the bait around the hook and the bag holder base, the rate of dissolution can vary based on water temperature and the specific formulation of the PVA. In very cold water, the bags might take longer to dissolve. However, they should eventually dissolve without leaving any residues. The fish are attracted to this array of floating and rising food and are lured toward the hook and after a period of time they are caught by the hook as they go to bite the piece of bait floating and attached to the hook. Following use, the fisherman removes the hook from the fishes mouth and remaining bag holder base with its attached line can be rebaited and used over and over with replacement PVA bags. In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting. As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present invention. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regarded as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention. Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the Patent Office and the public generally, and especially the scientists, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application. The abstract is neither intended to define the invention of the application, which is measured by the claims, nor is it intended to be limiting as to the scope of the invention in any way. It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved coupling device for fences which has all the advantages of the prior art fishing feeders and none of the disadvantages. It is another object of the present invention to provide a new weighted fishing feeder which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed. It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new and improved weighted fishing feeder which is of durable and reliable construction. An even further object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved weighted fishing feeder which is susceptible of a low cost of manufacture with regard to both materials and labour, and which accordingly is then susceptible of low prices of sale to the consuming public, thereby making such a product available to the buying public. Still yet another object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved weighted fishing feeder which provides in the apparatuses and methods of the prior art some of the advantages thereof, while simultaneously overcoming some of the disadvantages normally associated therewith. These together with other objects of the invention, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure. For a better understanding of the invention, its operating advantages and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference should be had to the accompanying drawings and detailed descriptive matter in which there is illustrated preferred embodiments of the invention. Brief description of figures Figure 1 shows a dimensional view of weighted fishing feeder. Figure 2 shows a dimensional view of the weighted fishing feeder with the PVA bag dissolving in the water. Figure 3 shows a dimensional view of the weighted fishing feeder with the bait dispersed in the water attracting a fish. Figure 4 shows a dimensional view of the weighted fishing feeder with a fish taking the bait and hook. Figure 5 shows a dimensional view of the components of the weighted fishing feeder. Detailed description of figures A typical embodiment of the weighted feeder is shown in Figure 1. It comprises the weighted feeder 1, which has a bag holder base derived of two parts being an outer base ring 16 and a base inner section 8 which slide into each other, a small hole 10 is provided in the centre of the convex upper surface 11 of said base inner section through to the side and a fishing line 5 is passed through it from the fishing rod (not shown). To the end of the fishing line 5, which has passed through the hole 10, is a short line connector swivel 7 with looped ends onto which the fishing line 5 from the rod is connected and a short hook line length 6 is tied to the remaining looped end with a hook 4 and bait 3 attached at its end. The feeder further comprises a PVA bag 2, which is preferably transparent. To prepare the feeder 1 for use in the water 12 the user (fisherman or angler) takes the bag holder base and separates the two components 8 and 16 which it is comprised of. The base inner section 8 is preferably a circular disc of weighted plastic with a depth of only a few centimetres. The upper surface of the inner base section is generally convex to create a seating for bait. To the centre of the convex upper surface 11 is the small hole 10 which passes completely through base inner section 8 to the side. The second component is the outer base ring 16 which is slightly of a larger diameter to that of the aforementioned inner section also having an aligning small vertical slot 17 to its side and is therefore able to be slid over the base inner section 8 and may have a lip or grooved edge to hold it in place. The user takes their fishing line 5 from the rod, which may be directly connected or may be removably connected using a line connector further along toward the rod to enable replacement for repeated replacement and usage. The line 5 is passed through said small hole in the side through to the small hole 10 which is its opening in the centre of the convex upper surface 11 of the base inner section 8. The line is then tied onto the short line connector swivel 7 which has two opposing looped ends, the remaining looped end has a short length of hook line 6 tied onto it. The hook 4 then has its own piece of bait 3 attached to it, either directly onto the hook or preferably tied onto the hook to ensure it remains in place during the melee of feeding. The PVA bag 2 is then filled with a generous amount of fishing bait 13, preferably boilies or similar bait, leaving around a quarter of the PVA bag unfilled, to allow for its attachment to the bag holder base 8 and 16. The PVA bag 2A is then generally turned upside down so as to have the opening end of the bag facing the user, the outer base ring 16A is then placed on the outer surface of the PVA bag 2A, near the open end of the bag, so that the PVA bag is inside the circular outer base ring 16A and the inner base section 8A, with the hook and bait already attached, as previously described, is slid within the outer base ring 16A ‘sandwiching’ or clamping the PVA bag opening 15 between the outer base ring 16A and the outer edges of the inner base section 8A. The inner base section 8A and the outer base ring 16A then fit together holding the PVA bags end 15 and creating a closure on the PVA bags open end. During this process it is recommended that the end 15 of the PVA back is slightly protruding out of the bottom of the bag holder base 8A and 16A and is tuned or folded up to create an excess of PVA bag ensuring that any movement of the bag does not affect its clamping in the bag holder base. The PVA bag 2A now dissolves in the water 12A releasing the bait 13A, as shown in Figure 2. The dissolving PVA Bag 2B releases the bait 13B around the hook 4B with its own attached bait 3B from the remaining bag holder bases convex upper surface 11B. The fish 14 are attracted to this array of floating and rising food13B and are lured toward the hook 4B and its bait 3B on its short hook line length 6B from the centre located small hole 10B in the convex upper surface 11B, extending to the rod as part of the fishing line 5B, as shown in Figure 3. The fish then approaches remaining weighted feeder 1C and bites the bait attached to the hook among the other pieces of floating bait, as shown in Figure 4. Following use, the fisherman removes the hook from the fishes mouth and remaining bag holder base with its attached line can be rebaited and used over and over with replacement PVA bags. Figure 5 shows the weighted feeder 1D having the PVA bag 2D attached to the outer base ring 16D and folded up under it 15D with the small vertical slot 17D to its side to pass over the exiting fishing line from the side of the base inner sections hole. The base inner section 8D is shown before it is inserted within the outer base ring 16D, having its convex upper surface 11D and small hole 10D at its centre through to its side, through which the fishing line 5D from the fishing rod (not shown) passes to emerge on the other side of the small hole 10D and is tied onto the short line connector swivel 7D. The short hook line length 6D is also tied to the opposing end of the short line connector swivel 7D and its opposing ends is further tied to the hook 4D and the hook has its own piece of bait 13D tied onto it.

Claims

1) A weighted fishing feeder comprising; a bag holder base which has an outer base ring with a small vertical slot and a base inner section which slide into each other, a small hole is provided from the side to the centre of said base inner section and a fishing line from a rod is passed through it, to the end of the fishing line which has passed through the hole is tied a short fishing line connector swivel with looped ends and a short hook line length is tied to the remaining looped end with a hook and bait, the feeder further comprises a PVA bag for holding fish bait which is fitted onto the bag holder base.2) A weighted fishing feeder as claimed in claim 1 wherein the base inner section has a generally convex upper surface for seating fishing bait.3) A weighted fishing feeder as claimed in claim 2 wherein the base inner section is preferably a circular disc of weighted plastic with a depth of only a few centimetres.4) A weighted fishing feeder as claimed in claim 3 wherein the outer base ring is slightly of a larger diameter to that of the aforementioned inner section and is therefore able to be slid over the inner section aided by the side located small vertical slot and may further have a lip edge or groove to hold them in place.5) A weighted fishing feeder as claimed in claim 4 wherein the outer base ring is placed on the outer surface of the open end of the partially bait filled PVA bag so that the PVA bag is inside the circular base ring and the inner base section with the hook and bait already attached is slid within the outer base ring ‘sandwiching’ or clamping the PVA bag between the outer base ring and the outer edges of the inner base section.6) A weighted fishing feeder as claimed in claim 5 wherein the end of the clamped PVA bag is preferably slightly protruding out of the bottom of the bag holder base and is folded up to create an excess of PVA bag ensuring that any movement of the bag in the water does not affect its clamping in the bag holder base.7) A weighted fishing feeder as claimed in claim 6 wherein the hook with its own piece of bait attached to it is presented within the convex upper surface of the base inner section among the partially bait filled PVA bag.8) A weighted fishing feeder as claimed in claim 7 wherein, in use, the user then casts the feeder into the water in an appropriate location and the feeder sinks down into the bottom of the water and the PVA bag dissolves releasing the bait around the hook and its bait over the bag holder base.A
