Abstract
Description
FIELD The present invention relates to the field of storage apparatus. In particular, the present invention relates to storage apparatus for use in a loft I attic space of a dwelling, e.g., a house. BACKGROUND In a typical dwelling I household, there is a space located underneath the roof of the dwelling I household which is typically accessed via a hatch in a ceiling of the floor below using ladders, e.g., a loft I attic space. These spaces are often modified to include floorboards which rest on joists to provide space to store objects. An issue with this is that roofs are typically angled. Therefore, when trying to access storage space at edges of the loft I attic space there is little to no headroom for a user to be able to use the storage space. Additionally, users can sometimes fall whilst using ladders to access the space, particularly if, for example, they are not steady on their feet or have poor balance. The present invention seeks to ameliorate one or more of the above problems. The second protrusion 2200 may be generally orthogonal to the first protrusion 2100. The attachment member 2000 may include a further second protrusion 2200’ similar to the second protrusion 2200. The further second protrusion 2200’ may extend along the second side 2008 of the attachment member body 2002 up to the second end 2012 and / or towards the first end 2010 and I or first protrusion 2100. The further second protrusion 2200’ may be generally orthogonal to the first protrusion 2100. The further second protrusion 2200’ may be generally parallel to the second protrusion 2200. The first, second and further second protrusions 2100, 2200, 2200’ may be generally planar and may have rounded edges. The first, second and further second protrusions 2100, 2200, 2200’ may be substantially the same. In embodiments this may not be the case. The first protrusion 2100 may have a generally planar portion 2110 which abuts the first shelf 16, or a shelf in use. An edge of the second and further second protrusions 2210, 2210’ may contact the first shelf 16, or a shelf, in use. The second protrusion and I or the further second protrusion may have a generally planar portion 2220, 2220’ which contacts a divider 18, in use. The first and second and I or further second protrusions 2100, 2200, 2200’ may define a shelf space 2300 which in use receives a portion of the first shelf 16 or a portion of a shelf. The second and further second protrusions 2200, 2200’ may define a divider space 2400 which in use receives a portion of a divider 18. The storage apparatus 10 may be operated according to the following method which includes the steps of: a) operating the first movement mechanism 20 to move the main body 12 from the first position to the second position; b) operating the second movement mechanism 30 to move the main body 12 from the second position, or third position, to the fourth position; and c) storing objects in the main body 12. The storage apparatus 10 may then be operated to stow the objects by: d) operating the second movement mechanism 30 to move the main body 12 from the fourth position to the second, or third, position; and e) operating the first movement mechanism 20 to move the main body 12 from the second position to the first position. In the above method, steps a) and b) may happen simultaneously. In embodiments, steps a) and b) may happen sequentially. In the above method, steps d) and e) may happen simultaneously. In embodiments, steps d) and e) may happen sequentially. For step a) movement of the main body 12 from the first to the second position may be caused by movement of the cover member 40 from the first to the second position. During movement of the cover member 40, the main body 12 may be positioned in the second space 420. In embodiments, during step a), the main body 12 may start to move out of the second space 420. During step a), the first movement mechanism 20 may move from the first configuration to the second configuration. The first drive member 200 may drive the drive shaft(s) 220, 220’ to move the first actuation member(s) 210, 210’. In particular, the first motor 200 may rotate the drive shaft(s) 220, 220’ to rotate the first gear(s) 210, 210’. This in turn may move the first connection member(s) 240, 240’ relative to the first actuation member(s) 210, 210’ and may cause movement of the second actuation member(s) 230, 230’. In particular, the first gear(s) 210, 210’ may cause the first chain(s) 240, 240’ to rotate about the first gear(s) and so also rotate about the second gear(s) 230, 230’. This results in the first chain(s) 240, 240’ moving relative to the gears. Consequently, the first fixation member(s), or first bracket(s), 250, 250’ may move from a first fixation member position, e.g., closer to the first actuation member 210, 210’ than the second actuation member 230, 230’, to a second fixation member position, e.g., closer to the second actuation member(s) 230, 230’ than the first actuation member(s) 210, 210’, and so move the cover member 40 from the first position to the second position. For step b) movement of the main body 12 from the second or third position to the fourth position may be caused by movement of the second movement mechanism 30. During movement of the main body 12, the cover member 40 may be positioned partially in the first space 520. In embodiments, during step a), the cover member 40 may be positioned outside the first space 520. During step b), the second movement mechanism 30 may move from the first configuration to the second configuration. The second drive member 300 may drive the drive shaft(s) 320, 320’ to move the third actuation members) 310, 31 O’. In particular, the second motor 300 may rotate the second drive shaft(s) 320, 320’ to rotate the third gear(s) 310, 310’. This in turn may move the second connection member(s) 340, 340’ relative to the third actuation member(s) 310, 310’ and may cause movement of the fourth actuation member(s) 330, 330’. In particular, the third gear(s) 310, 310’ may cause the second chain(s) 340, 340’ to rotate about the third gear(s) and so also rotate about the fourth gear(s) 330, 330’. This results in the second chain(s) 340, 340’ moving relative to the gears. Consequently, the second fixation members), or second bracket(s), 350, 350’ may move from a third fixation member position, e.g., closer to the third actuation member 310, 310’ than the fourth actuation member 330, 330’, to a fourth fixation member position, e.g., closer to the fourth actuation member(s) 330, 330’ than the third actuation member(s) 310, 310’, and so move the main body 12 from the second, or third, position to the fourth position. For step d), the reverse of step b) may be completed. For step e), the reverse of step e) may be completed. Operation of the illumination source may be disabled unless the main body 12 is in the fourth position. Steps a), b), d) and e) may be completed by operation of the controller 1000. In particular, steps a) and b) may be completed by pressing movement button 1014. Steps d) and e) may be completed by pressing movement button 1012. The method may include the following steps: f) sensing, during steps a) and I or b) whether a user is positioned underneath the main body 12; and g) if a user is sensed, pausing steps a) and I or b). Step f) may be completed by the sensor positioned on the base member 118. The sensor may continuously monitor for a user underneath the main body 12 or may intermittently, e.g., every 1 - 2 seconds, monitor for a user underneath the main body 12. At step g), the warning screen 1040 may be displayed and an alarm sound produced. The method may include the following step: h) recommencing steps a) and I or b) if a user is no longer sensed. For steps g) and h), the sensor may continue to monitor for a user until a user is no longer detected and then recommence steps a) and I or b). If a sufficient period of time has passed, steps a) and I or b) may recommence in hand with step f). If a user is sensed again step g) may take place again. This may happen automatically. Alternatively, subsequent to step g) a user may need to depress movement button 1014 to recommence steps a) and I or b). This may be advantageous in forcing movement of a user out of the way of the main body 12.
