User-friendly negative pressure wound therapy devices and methods of operating such devices

Abstract

Negative pressure wound therapy device comprising a negative pressure source 110 connected via a fluid flow path 108 to a wound 102 covered by a dressing 102, 106, the source providing negative pressure to the wound. A canister (162, fig. 2) is configured to be fluidically connected to the source via the flow path and configured to store aspirated fluid, the canister configured to be disconnected and replaced. Electronic processing circuitry is configured to monitor a rate of aspiration of fluid from the wound based on monitoring replacement of the canister and responsive to determining that aspiration rate satisfies a threshold indicative of transition to treating the wound with a low exudate rate negative pressure wound therapy system, providing an indication that the transition is recommended.
