Abstract

This decorative collar cover can be attached simply by inserting the fastener sewn to the cover into the seam on the underside of the collar, which is made up of the jieri (base collar) and kakeeri (hanging collar) of a kimono, along the lining seam. It is easy to put on and take off, making it convenient. When attached to kimono undergarments, it serves as a replacement collar to cover the haneri (half-collar), making it a convenient item that can be frequently used to change the look of a half-collar. When attached to a kimono, it can also serve as a decorative collar, making the kimono look even more luxurious and gorgeous. Until now, decorative items have typically been sewn on, often with safety pins, but this is time-consuming, dangerous, and can damage the fabric of the kimono. However, the fastener on this product is shaped to not put any strain on the kimono, making it safe and secure. Since it is intended as a decorative item, a thin and ornate fabric is desirable. It is a strip-shaped piece of cloth similar to a half-collar, with a reinforcing fabric folded back and sewn along one of its longitudinal bottom edges. A fastener is inserted inside the fold and sewn down using the folded-back portion, firmly securing the fastener to the reinforcing fabric and providing strength that can withstand frequent removal and attachment to the collar body of a kimono. The fasteners are inserted into the seams along the underside of the collar body at the lining of the collar at one location in the longitudinal center of the item, plus two small locations symmetrically on either side of that, and one at each end. This provides a completely new, versatile collar cover with fasteners for kimono accessories.
