Abstract

This garment is primarily designed to prevent the collar (= chest area) of traditional Japanese clothing from coming undone after being worn, with a straight cut and design that allows the fabric at the chest area to overlap. Traditional Japanese clothing can easily become distorted when wearing a corset due to physical movement or illness, causing the V-shaped collar to become distorted and spread, exposing the chest and underwear. This is particularly common with hospital gowns and jinbei jackets commonly used in medical and nursing care settings. The unique feature of this garment is that it will not come undone with physical movement after being worn, and naturally prevents the chest from coming undone. Furthermore, this garment is not limited to medical and nursing care applications; it can be used for a wide range of Japanese clothing and applications, including underwear, samue (work clothes), various types of kendo uniforms, yukata, and happi coats.
