[0011] The electrophotographic photoreceptor of the present invention has a support, an electron transport layer formed on the support, a charge generation layer formed on the electron transport layer, and a hole transport layer formed on the charge generation layer, characterized in that the charge generation layer contains a butyral resin, and the electron transport layer contains a polymer having a structure selected from structures represented by any one of the following formulas (1) and (4): [ka] (In formula (1), R 1 R represents a single bond or an unsubstituted phenylene group. 2 and R 11R each independently represents an unsubstituted alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a substituted alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an unsubstituted phenylene group, a substituted phenylene group, or a benzylene group. The substituent of the substituted alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms is at least one group selected from the group consisting of a phenyl group, a benzyl group, an imidazolylmethyl group, and a methylthioethyl group. The substituent of the substituted phenylene group is at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, a halogen atom, a methoxy group, and a nitro group. 3 ~R 10 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 2 carbon atoms, a methoxy group, a cyano group, or a halogen atom. [ka] (In formula (4), R 12 , R 23 is a single bond or -CO-O-C2H4-NH-CO-R 24 - (R 24 represents a single bond or an unsubstituted phenylene group. 13 , R 22 R each independently represents an unsubstituted alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a substituted alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an unsubstituted phenylene group, a substituted phenylene group, or a benzylene group. 14 ~R 21 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a cyano group, or a halogen atom.
[0012] The present invention further relates to an electrophotographic process cartridge which integrally supports the above electrophotographic photosensitive member and at least one means selected from the group consisting of a charging means, a developing means and a cleaning means, and is detachably mountable to the main body of the electrophotographic apparatus. The present invention further relates to an electrophotographic apparatus having the above electrophotographic photoreceptor, an exposure means, a charging means, a developing means, and a transfer means.
[0013] The present inventors believe that the mechanism by which the above technical problems can be solved with such a configuration is as follows. Since the perylene diimide structure is highly planar and rigid, it has low adhesion to other layers, and may cause minute peeling from other layers due to stress applied during repeated image output, resulting in image defects. In contrast, the amino ester structure contained in the compound of the present invention has amino and ester groups that are highly polar and have strong interactions with other layers, and furthermore, these groups are bonded with flexible alkyl chains, which is a structure advantageous for adhesion (note that the amino group has a structure (NH) having a hydrogen atom covalently bonded to a highly electronegative N atom, and the ester group has an ether structure (-O-) having an unshared electron pair). Therefore, it is believed that the adhesion to other layers is high and micro-peeling is unlikely to occur even during repeated image output, reducing image defects.
[0014] [Electrophotographic photoreceptor] The electrophotographic photoreceptor of the present invention has a support, an electron transport layer formed on the support, a charge generation layer formed directly on the electron transport layer, and a hole transport layer formed on the charge generation layer. [0053] [Example 1] <Support> An aluminum cylinder (JIS-A3003, aluminum alloy) having a length of 260.5 mm and a diameter of 30 mm was used as a support (conductive support). Next, 50 parts of titanium oxide particles coated with oxygen-deficient tin oxide (powder resistivity: 120 Ω cm, tin oxide coverage: 40%), 40 parts of phenolic resin (Pliophen J-325, Dainippon Ink and Chemicals, Inc., resin solids content: 60%), and 55 parts of methoxypropanol were placed in a sand mill using glass beads with a diameter of 1 mm and dispersed for 3 hours to prepare a coating solution for the conductive layer. The average particle size of the titanium oxide particles coated with oxygen-deficient tin oxide in this conductive layer coating liquid was measured by centrifugal sedimentation method using a particle size distribution meter (product name: CAPA700) manufactured by Horiba, Ltd., tetrahydrofuran as a dispersion medium, and a rotation speed of 5000 rpm. As a result, the average particle size was 0.30 μm. This conductive layer coating liquid was dip-coated onto the support, and the resulting coating film was dried at 160° C. for 30 minutes to form a conductive layer having a thickness of 25 μm.
[0054] <Electron transport layer> Next, 7 parts of compound A101 was dissolved in a mixed solvent of 40 parts of methoxypropanol and 60 parts of tetrahydrofuran to prepare a coating liquid for an electron transport layer. This coating liquid for the electron transport layer was dip-coated onto the conductive layer, and the resulting coating was heated at 120° C. for 30 minutes to form an electron transport layer having a thickness of 2 μm.
[0055] <Charge generation layer> Next, a hydroxygallium phthalocyanine crystal (charge generating material) having a crystal form with peaks at Bragg angles (2θ±0.2°) of 7.5°, 9.9°, 12.5°, 16.3°, 18.6°, 25.1°, and 28.3° in CuKα characteristic X-ray diffraction was prepared. 8 parts of this hydroxygallium phthalocyanine crystal, 4 parts of polyvinyl butyral (product name: S-LEC BX-1, manufactured by Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd.), and 25 parts of cyclohexanone were placed in a sand mill using glass beads with a diameter of 1 mm, and dispersed for 2 hours. Next, 250 parts of ethyl acetate were added to this to prepare a coating solution for charge generating layer. This charge generating layer coating liquid was dip coated onto the electron transport layer to form a coating film, and the resulting coating film was dried at 95° C. for 10 minutes to form a charge generating layer having a thickness of 0.25 μm.

[ka] [ka] [ka] [ka] This hole transport layer coating liquid was dip-coated onto the charge generating layer, and the resulting coating was dried at 120° C. for 40 minutes to form a hole transport layer having a thickness of 22 μm.
[0057] [Image evaluation] The prepared electrophotographic photoreceptor was mounted in a modified laser beam printer (product name: LBP-2510) manufactured by Canon Inc. (primary charging: roller contact DC charging, process speed 120 mm / sec, laser exposure) in an environment of temperature 23°C and humidity 50% RH, and the output images were evaluated initially and after 10,000 images were output. Details are as follows. The process cartridge for cyan color of the above-mentioned laser beam printer was modified, and a potential probe (model 6000B-8: manufactured by Trek Japan Co., Ltd.) was attached to the development position. Next, the potential of the center part of the electrophotographic photoreceptor was measured using a surface potential meter (model 344: manufactured by Trek Japan Co., Ltd.). In addition, the light intensity of the image exposure was set so that the dark area potential (Vd) was -600V and the light area potential (Vl) was -150V. Next, the prepared electrophotographic photosensitive member was attached to a cyan process cartridge of the above-mentioned laser beam printer that had been modified so that the stress applied to the electrophotographic photosensitive member by the cleaning blade was increased, and the process cartridge was then attached to the station of the cyan process cartridge, and three solid black images were output, which were regarded as initial images. After outputting 10,000 images, three solid black images were again output, which were regarded as images after durability testing. The initial image and the image after durability were evaluated with the following criteria: A is when there were 0 to 5 white spots (white spots in the solid black image on the paper on which the image was formed) of 0.5 mm or more per solid black image, B is when there were 6 to 10 spots, and C is when there were 11 to 15 spots. The evaluation results are shown in Table 7.
[0058] [Adhesion Evaluation] A 1 mm square 100-grid grid test was conducted on the electrophotographic photoreceptor in accordance with the old JIS K5400, and the number of remaining grids out of the 100 was counted. The ratio of grids with remaining film was counted. The adhesion (%) was calculated as the number of grids that did not peel off (grids) / total number (100 grids) for the initial and endurance tests (after outputting 10,000 images). The evaluation results are shown in Table 7.
