DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0011] FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a coaxial connector device 11 (electrical connector) according to this embodiment. The coaxial connector device 11 shown in FIG. 1 is attached to one end of two coaxial cables when used. The coaxial cables to which the coaxial connector device 11 is attached are shown as coaxial cables 12A and 12B in FIG. 4 described later. The coaxial cables 12A and 12B each have a central conductor 13, an inner insulator 14 tightly surrounding the central conductor 13, an outer conductor 15 tightly surrounding the inner insulator 14, and a skin insulator 16 tightly surrounding the outer conductor 15. The one end of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B to which the coaxial connector device 11 is attached is in a state in which the skin insulator 16 is partially cut away to expose the outer conductor 15, and the outer conductor 15 and the inner insulator 14 are each partially cut away to expose the central conductor 13.

[0012] Fig. 2 is an exploded perspective view showing a coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment. As shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the coaxial connector device 11 includes, as main components, two signal contact members 20A, 20B (a first signal contact member and a second signal contact member), a ground contact member 30, and a conductive member 50 (see Fig. 2). The coaxial connector device 11 may also include an insulating housing member 40.

[0013] The insulating housing member 40 is made of an insulating material such as a synthetic resin material. The insulating housing member 40 supports the signal contact members 20A, 20B and the ground contact member 30 in a mutually insulated state. The insulating housing member 40 has a first support portion 41 for supporting the signal contact member 20A, a second support portion 42 for supporting the signal contact member 20B, and a base portion 43 provided between the first support portion 41 and the second support portion 42 (between them in the width direction of the coaxial connector device 11).

[0014] The first support portion 41 has a cylindrical portion 44 (see FIG. 2), a central conductor support portion 45 (see FIG. 2), and a flat portion 46. The cylindrical portion 44 holds the signal contact member 20A. The central conductor support portion 45 extends from the cylindrical portion 44 and supports the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A connected to the signal contact member 20A. The flat portion 46 extends along the inner surface of a base plate 34a (described later) of the shell portion 34 of the ground contact member 30. When the shell portion 34 is in the bent position (the state of FIGS. 5 and 6), the flat portion 46 comes into contact with a first portion 20x (described later) of the signal contact member 20A and presses the first portion 20x, thereby bending the first portion 20x. The configuration of the second support part 42 is similar to the configuration of the first support part 41 (in that the signal contact member 20A and coaxial cable 12A are replaced with a signal contact member 20B and a coaxial cable 12B, and the second support part 42 has a tubular portion 44, a central conductor support part 45, and a flat portion 46).

[0015] The ground contact member 30 is made of an elastic conductive material. A ground potential is applied to the ground contact member 30, and the ground contact member 30 is electrically connected to the outer conductors 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B. The ground contact member 30 has an annular fitting portion 31, a first cable support portion 32 for supporting the coaxial cable 12A, a second cable support portion 33 for supporting the coaxial cable 12B, and a shell portion 34.

[0016] The annular fitting portion 31 partially surrounds a part of the insulating housing member 40 (specifically, a portion including the tubular portion 44 of the first support portion 41 and the second support portion 42) and is fitted and connected to the annular fitting portion 102 of the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100 (see FIG. 7). The annular fitting portion 31 has an opening OP1 (see FIG. 6) sandwiched between a pair of opposing ends 31a, 31a.

[0017] The first cable support 32 has an arm 35, a mounting portion 36, and a wall 37. The arm 35 extends from one end 31a of the pair of ends 31a of the annular fitting portion 31 along the central conductor support 45 of the insulating housing member 40. The mounting portion 36 is continuous with the lower end of the arm 35 and extends in the horizontal direction (specifically, in the width direction of the coaxial connector device 11) so as to mount the central conductor support 45 and the coaxial cable 12A thereon. The wall 37 is continuous with the mounting portion 36 and is provided so as to face the arm 35. A convex portion 36a is provided on the mounting surface of the mounting portion 36 for mounting the coaxial cable 12A. The convex portion 36a is a protruding portion that contacts the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cable 12A (see FIG. 10). The coaxial cable 12A is positioned by being fixed (supported) in an area defined by the arm 35, the mounting portion 36, and the wall 37. The configuration of the second cable support 33 is similar to the configuration of the first cable support 32 (similar in that one end 31a, the coaxial cable 12A is replaced with the other end 31a, the coaxial cable 12B, and the second cable support 33 has the arm 35, the mounting portion 36, the protrusion 36a, and the wall 37).

[0018] The shell portion 34 is a portion that extends bendably from one end of the annular fitting portion 31 and is connected to the outer conductors 15 of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B when bent. The shell portion 34 is adapted to selectively take an upright position where it is not bent with respect to the annular fitting portion 31 and a bent position where it is bent with respect to the annular fitting portion 31. The shell portion 34 is in the upright position in Figures 1, 2, and 4, and in the bent position in Figures 5 and 6 described below. In the description of the shell portion 34, in addition to Figures 1 and 2, Figures 5 and 6 will also be referred to.

[0019] The shell portion 34 has a base plate 34a that covers the upper surface of the annular fitting portion 31, a first fixing portion 38 for fixing the coaxial cable 12A, and a second fixing portion 39 for fixing the coaxial cable 12B. As shown in Fig. 5, the base plate 34a extends from the connection point with the annular fitting portion 31 to a region bounded by the outer surfaces of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B. The first fixing portion 38 has fastening portions 34b, 34c, and 34d that are portions that stand up relative to the base plate 34a at the bending position (see Figs. 5 and 6). The fastening portions 34b, 34c, and 34d are configured to be bendable, and are barrel portions that fasten and hold the coaxial cable 12A.

[0020] The fastening portion 34b is bent so as to cover the mounting portion 36, thereby sandwiching the mounting portion 36, the conductive member 50, the central conductor support portion 45, and the coaxial cable 12A between the fastening portion 34b and the base plate 34a, and fixing the relative positions of these components. Specifically, the fastening portion 34b fixes the coaxial cable 12A to the mounting portion 36 so that the convex portion 36a of the mounting portion 36 contacts the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cable 12A. This ensures that the ground contact member 30 and the outer conductor 15 are in contact with each other and electrically connected. The fastening portion 34c is bent so as to cover the coaxial cable 12A with the outer conductor 15 exposed, closer to the rear end of the coaxial cable 12A than the fastening portion 34b, thereby sandwiching the coaxial cable 12A between the fastening portion 34b and the base plate 34a, and fixing the position of the coaxial cable 12A. The fastening portion 34d is bent so as to cover the skin insulator 16 closer to the rear end of the coaxial cable 12A than the fastening portion 34c, thereby sandwiching the coaxial cable 12A between the fastening portion 34d and the base plate 34a and fixing the position of the coaxial cable 12A. The fastening portion 34c fastens the coaxial cable 12A with the outer conductor 15 exposed, thereby ensuring contact between the ground contact member 30 and the outer conductor 15 for electrical connection. The configuration of the second fixing portion 39 is similar to that of the first fixing portion 38 (similar in that the coaxial cable 12A is replaced with the coaxial cable 12B and the fastening portions 34b, 34c, and 34d are provided).

[0021] The signal contact members 20A and 20B are made of an elastic conductive material. The signal contact member 20A is connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A and is connected to a signal contact portion 104 (see FIG. 7) of a mating connector device 100 (mating connector) mounted on a circuit board (not shown). The signal contact member 20B is connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B and is connected to a signal contact portion 105 (see FIG. 7) of a mating connector device 100 (mating connector) mounted on a circuit board (not shown).

[0022] As shown in Fig. 2 and Fig. 10, the signal contact member 20A has a first portion 20x, a second portion 20y, a third portion 20z, and a locking portion 20w. The signal contact member 20A is disposed in the cylindrical portion 44 (see Fig. 10). The second portion 20y is a portion that extends in the extending direction of the coaxial cable 12A, and is a portion that contacts the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A on its upper surface. The first portion 20x is a portion that extends bendably from the tip of the second portion 20y (the end portion on the side away from the coaxial cable 12A). When the shell portion 34 is in the bent position (the state of Fig. 10), the first portion 20x is pressed by the flat plate portion 46 and bent so as to sandwich the central conductor 13 between the first portion 20x and the second portion 20y. The third portion 20z is a portion formed in a U-shape, extending downward toward the tip of the second portion 20y so as to be folded back from the rear end (the end opposite to the side connected to the first portion 20x) of the second portion 20y, and further extending downward, folding back at the lower end, and extending upward. The third portion 20z is connected to the signal contact portion 104 of the mating connector device 100 at the U-shape (see FIG. 10). The locking portion 20w is a portion fixed to the insulating housing member 40 by engaging with a locking portion (not shown) of the insulating housing member 40. The locking portion 20w extends downward from both side surfaces of the second portion 20y. The configuration of the signal contact member 20B is similar to the configuration of the signal contact member 20A (similar in that the coaxial cable 12A is replaced with the coaxial cable 12B, and the first portion 20x, the second portion 20y, the third portion 20z, and the locking portion 20w are included).

[0023] 3 is a perspective view of the conductive member 50 of the coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment, as viewed from above. As shown in FIG. 3, the conductive member 50 has a first region 51, a second region 52, an intermediate region 53, an isolation characteristic improving portion 54 (second ground connection portion, second connection portion), and a connection portion 59.

[0024] The first region 51 has a rear ground connection portion 55 (first ground connection portion) and a front ground connection portion 56 (second ground connection portion, first connection portion) continuous with the rear ground connection portion 55. The rear ground connection portion 55 is a flat plate-shaped portion that is connected to (in contact with) the ground contact member 30, specifically, the mounting portion 36 of the first cable support portion 32 (see FIG. 10).

[0025] The front ground connection portion 56 is a flat portion that is connected (contacts) with the annular fitting portion 102 of the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100 (see FIG. 10). When viewed from the mating direction with the mating connector device 100, the front ground connection portion 56 overlaps with at least a part (specifically, a part of the central conductor 13) of the signal line composed of the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A and the signal contact member 20A, as shown in FIG. 6 and FIG. 10. When viewed from the above-mentioned mating direction, the front ground connection portion 56 overlaps with the fastening portion 34b, which is a barrel portion, in the arrangement direction of the signal contact members 20A, 20B (width direction of the coaxial connector device 11), as shown in FIG. 6. Also, the front ground connection portion 56 is disposed in an opening OP1 sandwiched between the ends 31a, 31a of the annular fitting portion 31, as shown in FIG. 6.

[0026] The configuration of the second region 52 is similar to that of the first region 51 (in that the coaxial cable 12A is replaced with the coaxial cable 12B, and the second region 52 has a rear ground connection portion 55 and a front ground connection portion 56). That is, the conductive member 50 has a pair of front ground connection portions 56, 56 connected to the annular fitting portion 102 of the mating connector device 100, one front ground connection portion 56 (the front ground connection portion 56 of the first region 51) overlaps with a part of the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A when viewed from the fitting direction, and the other front ground connection portion 56 (the front ground connection portion 56 of the second region 52) overlaps with a part of the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B when viewed from the fitting direction.

[0027] The intermediate region 53 is a portion that extends in the arrangement direction of the signal contact members 20A, 20B (the width direction of the coaxial connector device 11) so as to connect the first region 51 and the second region 52. The connection portion 59 is provided so as to be continuous with each of the first region 51 and the second region 52, and is a portion that extends upward. The connection portion 59 is a portion that is inserted into the insulating housing member 40. The conductive member 50 is fixed to the insulating housing member 40 by inserting the connection portion 59 into the insertion port 49 of the insulating housing member 40 (see FIG. 11(a)).

[0028] 3 and 9, the isolation characteristic improving section 54 has an extending section 57 extending from the intermediate region 53 in the extending direction of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B (toward the tips of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B), and a contact section 58 formed in a U-shape so as to extend downward from the tip of the extending section 57, turn back at the lower end, and extend upward. As shown in FIG. 9, the contact section 58 is connected (contacts) to the contact section 103 of the ground contact section 101 arranged between the signal contact sections 104 and 105 of the mating connector device 100. Note that a part of the conductive member 50 is connected to the fastening section 34b, which is a barrel section that holds the coaxial cables 12A and 12B in a fastening manner, via the mounting section 36, but may be directly connected to the fastening section 34b, which is a barrel section.

[0029] Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing a process in which the coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment is attached to one end of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B. When the coaxial connector device 11 is attached to one end of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B, first, the central conductors 13 of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B are placed on the second parts 20y of the signal contact members 20A, 20B as shown in Fig. 2. The placed coaxial cables 12A, 12B have one end in a state in which the outer conductor 15 is exposed by partially cutting off the outer conductor 15 and the inner insulator 14 are each partially cut off to expose the central conductor 13.

[0030] Thereafter, the shell portion 34 of the ground contact member 30 in the upright position is bent relative to the annular fitting portion 31 of the ground contact member 30 to a bent position. As a result, the shell portion 34 bends the first portion 20x via the flat portion 46 of the insulating housing member 40, and the central conductor 13 is sandwiched between the first portion 20x and the second portion 20y. As a result, the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B is connected to the signal contact members 20A and 20B. In addition, the shell portion 34 is abutted against the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B.

[0031] Further, after that, in the shell portion 34 at the bent position, the pair of fastening portions 34b, 34b are each bent to wrap the mounting portion 36 from the outside and fasten the mounting portion 36 to the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B. In addition, the pair of fastening portions 34c, 34c and the pair of fastening portions 34d, 34d are each bent to fasten the outer conductor 15 and skin insulator 16 of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B. In this way, the shell portion 34 of the ground contact member 30 is connected and fixed to the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B.

[0032] As a result, the coaxial connector device 11 is firmly maintained attached to the ends of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B as shown in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6. Fig. 5 is a perspective view from above showing the coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment attached to the ends of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B. Fig. 6 is a bottom view showing the coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment attached to the ends of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B.

[0033] 7 is a perspective view showing a mating connector device 100 to which the coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment is connected. The mating connector device 100 is fixed onto a mounting surface (not shown) of a circuit board on which components and the like are mounted.

[0034] The mating connector device 100 includes signal contact portions 104, 105 (first signal contact portion, second signal contact portion) and a ground contact portion 101. The signal contact portions 104, 105 are formed of a conductive material and are electrically connected to signal terminals (not shown) provided on the mounting surface of the circuit board. The ground contact portion 101 is electrically connected to a ground potential portion (not shown) provided on the mounting surface of the circuit board. The ground contact portion 101 is formed as an annular body so as to surround the signal contact portions 104, 105. The ground contact portion 101 includes an annular fitting portion 102 (first portion) and a contact portion 103 (second portion). The annular fitting portion 102 is fitted and connected to the annular fitting portion 31 of the ground contact member 30. The contact portion 103 is disposed between the signal contact portions 104 and 105 and is in contact with (connected to) the contact portion 58 of the isolation characteristic improvement portion 54 .

[0035] Fig. 8 is a plan view showing a state in which the coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment is attached to one end of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B and mechanically and electrically connected to the mating connector device 100. Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional view showing a cross section along line IX-IX in Fig. 8. Fig. 10 is a cross-sectional view showing a cross section along line XX in Fig. 8. As shown in Figs. 9 and 10, when the coaxial connector device 11 is connected to the mating connector device 100, the annular fitting portion 31 of the ground contact member 30 in the coaxial connector device 11 is fitted and connected to the annular fitting portion 102 of the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100.

[0036] 10, in the mated connected state, the third portion 20z of the signal contact member 20A connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A comes into contact (connects) with the signal contact portion 104 of the mating connector device 100. Similarly, the third portion 20z of the signal contact member 20B connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B comes into contact (connects) with the signal contact portion 105 of the mating connector device 100. As a result, the central conductors 13 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B are electrically connected to signal terminals (not shown) provided on the mounting surface of the circuit board through the signal contact members 20A and 20B of the coaxial connector device 11 and the signal contact portions 104 and 105 of the mating connector device 100.

[0037] 10, in the mated and connected state, the conductive member 50 is in contact with the mounting portion 36, whose protrusion 36a is in contact with the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cable 12A, at the rear ground connection portion 55 of the first region 51, and is in contact with the annular fitting portion 102 of the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100, at the front ground connection portion 56 of the first region 51. Similarly, the conductive member 50 is in contact with the mounting portion 36, whose protrusion 36a is in contact with the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cable 12B, at the rear ground connection portion 55 of the second region 52, and is in contact with the annular fitting portion 102 of the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100, at the front ground connection portion 56 of the second region 52. As a result, the outer conductors 15 of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B are electrically connected to a ground potential portion (not shown) provided on the circuit board through the ground contact member 30 and conductive member 50 of the coaxial connector device 11, and the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100.

[0038] 9, in the mating connection state, the contact portion 58 of the isolation characteristic improving portion 54 of the conductive member 50 contacts the contact portion 103 of the ground contact portion 101 arranged between the signal contact portions 104, 105 of the mating connector device 100. As a result, the isolation characteristic improving portion 54 electrically connected to a ground potential portion (not shown) provided on the circuit board is provided between the signal lines related to the coaxial cables 12A, 12B.

[0039] Next, a method for assembling the coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment will be described with reference to Figures 11 and 12. Figures 11 and 12 are diagrams for explaining the method for assembling the coaxial connector device according to this embodiment, and show the assembly steps in the order of Figures 11(a), 11(b), 11(c), 11(d), 12(a), 12(b), and 12(c).

[0040] In the first step, as shown in FIG. 11(a), a conductive member 50 and an insulating housing member 40 are prepared, and the connection portion 59 of the conductive member 50 is inserted into the insertion port 49 of the insulating housing member 40, thereby integrating the conductive member 50 and the insulating housing member 40 as shown in FIG. 11(b).

[0041] 11(c), the insulating housing member 40 with the conductive member 50 integrated therewith is assembled to the ground contact member 30. Specifically, the insulating housing member 40 is assembled to the ground contact member 30 such that the cylindrical portion 44 of the insulating housing member 40 is surrounded by the annular fitting portion 31 of the ground contact member 30, and the central conductor support portion 45 of the insulating housing member 40 is placed on the placement portion 36 of the ground contact member 30.

[0042] 11(d), the signal contact members 20A, 20B are placed in the cylindrical portion 44 of the insulating housing member 40 which is assembled to the ground contact member 30. Through the assembly steps up to this point, the coaxial connector device 11 shown in FIG. 12(a) is prepared in which the ground contact member 30 is in an upright position.

[0043] 12(b), the coaxial connector device 11 is attached to one end of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B. Specifically, the central conductors 13 of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B are placed on the second portions 20y (see FIG. 4) of the signal contact members 20A, 20B.

[0044] Thereafter, the shell portion 34 of the ground contact member 30 in the upright position is bent, and the fastening portions 34b, 34c, and 34d are bent to connect the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B to the signal contact members 20A and 20B. The shell portion 34 of the ground contact member 30 is also connected and fixed to the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B. As a result, the coaxial connector device 11 is firmly maintained attached to the ends of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B as shown in FIG. 12(c).

[0045] Next, the effects of the coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment will be described.

[0046] The coaxial connector device 11 according to this embodiment has a signal contact member 20A that is connected to the central conductor 13 of a coaxial cable 12A and is connected to a signal contact portion 104 of a mating connector device 100 mounted on a circuit board, a signal contact member 20B that is connected to the central conductor 13 of a coaxial cable 12B and is connected to a signal contact portion 105 of the mating connector device 100, an annular fitting portion 31 that is fitted and connected to an annular fitting portion 102 of a ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device, and a shell portion 34 that bendably extends from the annular fitting portion 31 and is connected to the outer conductors 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B, and is supplied with a ground potential. The connector comprises a ground contact member 30, and a conductive member 50 having a rear ground connection portion 55 connected to the ground contact member 30, and a front ground connection portion 56 connected to the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100, and when viewed from the mating direction with the mating connector device 100, the front ground connection portion 56 of the conductive member 50 overlaps at least a portion of the signal line consisting of the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A and the signal contact member 20A (more specifically, a portion of the central conductor 13), and at least a portion of the signal line consisting of the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B and the signal contact member 20B (more specifically, a portion of the central conductor 13).

[0047] The coaxial connector device 11 according to the present embodiment includes a signal contact member 20A connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A, a signal contact member 20B connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B, a ground contact member 30 to which a ground potential is applied, and a conductive member 50. The rear ground connection portion 55 of the conductive member 50 is connected to the ground contact member 30, and the front ground connection portion 56 is connected to the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100. In the present coaxial connector device 11, the front ground connection portion 56 overlaps at least a part of the signal line composed of the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A and the signal contact member 20A, and at least a part of the signal line composed of the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B and the signal contact member 20B, as viewed from the mating direction. Since the front ground connection portion 56 overlaps at least a part of these signal lines, the signals of these signal lines are prevented from propagating to the outside (around the coaxial connector device 11). This prevents the signal on the signal line from becoming noise and affecting surrounding external products, improving the EMI characteristics of the coaxial connector device 11 and improving noise resistance.

[0048] The shell portion 34 of the ground contact member 30 has a fastening portion 34b (barrel portion) that fastens and holds the coaxial cables 12A and 12B, and the conductive member 50 may be connected to the fastening portion 34b. In this manner, the fastening portion 34b that holds the coaxial cables 12A and 12B that constitute the signal line is connected (contacted) with the conductive member 50, so that the contact points are reliably set to ground potential, and the overlapping portion between the signal line and the conductive member 50 (specifically, the front ground connection portion 56) can be suitably formed.

[0049] The ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100 has an annular fitting portion 102 that is fitted and connected to the annular fitting portion 31 of the ground contact member 30, and the conductive member 50 has a pair of front ground connection portions 56 that are connected to the annular fitting portion 102, and one of the pair of front ground connection portions 56 may overlap at least a part of one signal line when viewed from the fitting direction, and the other of the pair of front ground connection portions 56 may overlap at least a part of the other signal line when viewed from the fitting direction. In this way, the pair of front ground connection portions 56 are connected to the fitting-related portion (annular fitting portion 102) of the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100, so that the contact points can be reliably set to ground potential when mated to the mating connector device 100. Furthermore, since one of the pair of front ground connection portions 56 overlaps with at least a portion of one of the signal lines, and the other of the pair of front ground connection portions 56 overlaps with at least a portion of the other signal line, it is possible to reliably prevent signals from both signal lines from propagating to the outside (around the coaxial connector device 11).

[0050] The shell portion 34 of the ground contact member 30 has a fastening portion 34b that fastens and holds the coaxial cable 12A and the coaxial cable 12B, and the pair of front ground connection portions 56 may overlap the fastening portion 34b in the arrangement direction of the signal contact members 20A, 20B when viewed from the fitting direction. In this way, the pair of front ground connection portions 56 overlap with the fastening portion 34b that holds the coaxial cables 12A, 12B, so that an overlapping portion between the pair of front ground connection portions 56 and the signal line (specifically, the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B) can be suitably formed. This makes it possible to suitably suppress the signals of both signal lines from propagating to the outside (around the coaxial connector device 11).

[0051] An opening OP1 may be formed in the annular fitting portion 31 of the ground contact member 30, and the pair of front ground connecting portions 56 may be disposed in the opening OP1. In this manner, for example, by providing the pair of front ground connecting portions 56, which are the conductive member 50, in the opening OP1 that is inevitably formed during manufacturing, the opening OP1 is partially blocked by the pair of front ground connecting portions 56, and it is possible to effectively prevent a signal (high frequency signal) of the signal line from leaking to the outside through the opening OP1.

[0052] The ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100 may have a contact portion 103 arranged between the signal contact portion 104 and the signal contact portion 105, and the conductive member 50 may have an isolation characteristic improving portion 54 connected to the contact portion 103. By connecting the isolation characteristic improving portion 54 to the contact portion 103 of the ground contact portion 101 of the mating connector device 100 arranged between the signal contact portion 104 and the signal contact portion 105, the propagation of signals between the different signal contact members 20A and 20B is suppressed. This improves the isolation characteristics and improves noise resistance.

[0053] The aspects of the present invention are not limited to the above embodiment. Figures 13 and 14 are exploded perspective views showing a coaxial connector device 511 according to another aspect of this embodiment. Figure 15 is a perspective view showing the coaxial connector device 511 attached to one end of a coaxial cable, as seen from below. In the following, the configuration of the coaxial connector device 511 that is different from the coaxial connector device 11 according to the above embodiment will be mainly described, and a description of the configuration common to (or corresponding to) the coaxial connector device 11 may be omitted.

[0054] 13 to 15, the coaxial connector device 511 includes, as main components, two signal contact members 520A and 520B (a first signal contact member and a second signal contact member), a ground contact member 530, and a conductive member 550. The coaxial connector device 511 may also include an insulating housing 540.

[0055] The insulating housing 540 supports the signal contact members 520A, 520B and the ground contact member 530 in a mutually insulated state. The insulating housing 540 has a first support portion 541 (see FIG. 19(c)) for supporting the signal contact member 520A, a second support portion 542 (see FIG. 19(c)) for supporting the signal contact member 520B, and a base portion 543. The first support portion 541 and the second support portion 542 are disposed adjacent to each other in the width direction of the coaxial connector device 511.

[0056] A protrusion 591 that protrudes outward in the width direction is provided on the outer side surfaces of the first support portion 541 and the second support portion 542 in the width direction. The protrusion 591 is a portion that fits into a recess 535x (described in detail later) of an arm portion 535 of the ground contact member 530 when assembling the coaxial connector device 511, and fixes the position of the insulating housing 540 with respect to the ground contact member 530 (see FIGS. 19(c) and 19(d)).

[0057] 14, a recessed insertion port 549 is formed at both ends in the width direction of the lower surface of the first support portion 541 and the second support portion 542. The insertion port 549 is a portion into which a connection portion 559 (described in detail later) of a conductive member 550 is inserted. By inserting the connection portion 559 into the insertion port 549, the position of the conductive member 550 with respect to the insulating housing 540 is fixed.

[0058] 13, the base portion 543 is a portion that continues to the first support portion 541 and the second support portion 542 in the extending direction of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B, and is a portion that is located in the tip direction (forward direction) of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B from the first support portion 541 and the second support portion 542. A recess 546 for fixing an isolation characteristic improving portion 570 described later is formed in a central portion of the base portion 543 in the width direction of the coaxial connector device 511. The recess 546 is formed along the extending direction of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B from a portion sandwiched between the first support portion 541 and the second support portion 542 to a tip portion of the base portion 543.

[0059] 14, contact fixing portions 547, 548 extending downward are formed at the tip portion of the lower surface of the base portion 543. The contact fixing portion 547 is a portion around which a third portion 520z (details to be described later) of the signal contact member 520A extending to penetrate the inside of the base portion 543 is wound and the third portion 520z is fixed. The contact fixing portion 548 is a portion around which a third portion 520z (details to be described later) of the signal contact member 520B extending to penetrate the inside of the base portion 543 is wound and the third portion 520z is fixed (see FIG. 18(c)).

[0060] The ground contact member 530 is given a ground potential and is electrically connected to the outer conductors 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B via a ground bar 581 (described in detail later) (see FIG. 18(c)). The ground contact member 530 has an annular fitting portion 531, a pair of arm portions 535, 535, and a shell portion 534.

[0061] The annular fitting portion 531 partially surrounds a part of the insulating housing 540 (specifically, the base portion 543), and is a portion that is fitted and connected to the annular fitting portion 630 that is a ground contact portion of the mating connector device 600 (see FIG. 16). The annular fitting portion 531 is formed in a substantially cylindrical shape, but the rear end portion is not continuous and an opening portion 595 is formed therein (see FIG. 15).

[0062] The pair of arms 535, 535 are continuous with the annular fitting portion 531 and extend in the extension direction of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B while facing each other in the width direction of the coaxial connector device 511. One arm 535 extends in the extension direction along the outer surface of the first support portion 541. The other arm 535 extends in the extension direction along the outer surface of the second support portion 542. A recess 535x that fits into the protrusion 591 of the insulating housing 540 is formed in each of the pair of arms 535, 535.

[0063] The shell portion 534 has a base plate 534a covering the upper surface of the annular fitting portion 531, a first fixing portion 538 (barrel portion) for fixing the coaxial cable 12A, and a second fixing portion 539 (barrel portion) for fixing the coaxial cable 12B. The base plate 534a is continuous with the tip of the annular fitting portion 531, and at the bent position, extends rearward to a position covering a ground bar 581 (described in detail below) on the upper portion of a cable fixing portion 580 (described in detail below).

[0064] The first fixing portion 538 holds the coaxial cable 12A. The first fixing portion 538 is a portion extending continuously to the outer edge portion in the width direction of the rear end portion of the base plate 534a (the portion rearward of the portion of the base plate 534a covering the upper surface of the annular fitting portion 531). The first fixing portion 538 is configured to be bendable, and has a fastening portion 534b that covers the arm portion 535 from the outside in the width direction at the bent position, and a fastening portion 534c that covers the cable fixing portion 580 (the lower ground bar 581 described in detail later) from below. The fastening portion 534b covers the arm portion 535 by being bent at a portion continuous with the base plate 534a. The fastening portion 534c covers the lower ground bar 581 by being bent at a portion continuous with the fastening portion 534b. In this way, the first fixing portion 538 does not directly fasten the coaxial cable 12A, but holds the cable fixing portion 580 so as to cover it, thereby holding the coaxial cable 12A fixed by the cable fixing portion 580. The configuration of the second fixing portion 539 is similar to the configuration of the first fixing portion 538 (similar in that the coaxial cable 12A is replaced with the coaxial cable 12, and the second fixing portion 539 has fastening portions 534b and 534c). In other words, the second fixing portion 539 does not directly fasten the coaxial cable 12B, but holds the cable fixing portion 580 so as to cover it, thereby holding the coaxial cable 12B fixed by the cable fixing portion 580.

[0065] The cable fixing portion 580 is configured to fix the coaxial cables 12A and 12B. The cable fixing portion 580 has plate-shaped ground bars 581, 581 facing each other in the up-down direction, and a solder portion 582 filled between the ground bars 581, 581 and the coaxial cables 12A and 12B to fix the coaxial cables 12A and 12B. The solder portion 582 is filled so as to cover the outer conductor 15, and the ground bars 581, 581 cover the upper and lower surfaces of the solder portion 582, so that the ground bars 581, 581 and the outer conductor 15 are electrically connected to each other.

[0066] The upper ground bar 581 has a tip portion in the widthwise center bent downward and passes through the inside of the solder portion 582 to be connected to the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 (details of which will be described later) (see FIG. 18(b)). In this manner, one of the ground bars 581 and the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 are in contact with each other, so that the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 is electrically connected to the outer conductors 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B via the ground bar 581.

[0067] The signal contact member 520A is a conductive member that is connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A and is also connected to a signal contact portion 604 (see FIG. 16) of the mating connector device 600. The signal contact member 520B is connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B and is also connected to a signal contact portion 605 (see FIG. 16) of the mating connector device 600.

[0068] The signal contact member 520A has a first portion 520x, a second portion 520y, and a third portion 520z. The signal contact member 520A is supported by a first support portion 541. The second portion 520y is a portion that extends in the extending direction of the coaxial cable 12A, and its upper surface is a portion that contacts the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A. The first portion 520x is a portion that is continuous with the tip of the second portion 520y and extends forward. The first portion 520x has a portion that is continuous with the tip of the second portion 520y and extends obliquely upward, and a portion that is continuous with the obliquely extending portion and extends horizontally. The third portion 520z is a portion that is continuous with the tip of the first portion 520x and extends downward, and is formed in a U-shape so as to be folded back at the lower end of the portion that extends downward and extends upward. The third portion 520z is connected to a signal contact portion 604 (see FIG. 16) of the mating connector device 600 at a portion formed in a U-shape. The configuration of the signal contact member 520B is similar to the configuration of the signal contact member 520A (similar in that the coaxial cable 12A is replaced with the coaxial cable 12B, and the signal contact member 520B has a first portion 520x, a second portion 520y, and a third portion 520z).

[0069] The conductive member 550 has a rear ground connection portion 555 (first ground connection portion), an inclined portion 556 continuous with the rear ground connection portion 555, and a front ground connection portion 557 (second ground connection portion, first connection portion) continuous with the inclined portion 556.

[0070] The rear ground connection portion 555 is a flat portion connected (contacted) to the ground contact member 530, specifically, to the fastening portion 534c of the first fixing portion 538 and the second fixing portion 539 (see FIG. 18(c)). A notch 558 is formed in the center portion in the width direction of the rear end of the rear ground connection portion 555. The notch 558 is filled with solder, so that the lower ground bar 581 and the conductive member 550 are electrically connected. This improves the shielding performance by a reliable contact, and ensures a mechanical connection by a strong connection. As shown in FIG. 18(b), the upper ground bar 581 and the ground contact member 530 are electrically connected by filling the through portion 536 of the base plate 534a with solder. The timing for such soldering is after the first fixing portion 538 (barrel portion) and the second fixing portion 539, which are barrel portions, are crimped. Connection portions 559 protruding upward are provided on both widthwise ends of the front end of the rear ground connection portion 555. The position of the rear ground connection portion 555 is fixed with respect to the insulating housing 540 by inserting the connection portions 559 into the insertion ports 549 of the insulating housing 540. The inclined portion 556 is a portion that is continuous with the front end of the rear ground connection portion 555 and extends forward while inclining, and has a shape that is inclined obliquely upward in accordance with the inclined shape of the lower surface of the insulating housing 540.

[0071] The front ground connection part 557 is a flat part that is connected (contacts) with the annular fitting part 630 (first part) that is a ground contact part of the mating connector device 100 (see FIG. 18(c)). The front ground connection part 557 is a part that is continuous with the front end of the inclined part 556 and extends forward while inclining downward. The front ground connection part 557 has a tip part disposed in the opening part 595 (see FIG. 15) of the annular fitting part 531, and is connected to the annular fitting part 630 at its tip part (see FIG. 18(c)). The front ground connection part 557 is continuously formed in the width direction that is the arrangement direction of the signal contact members 520A and 520B. Here, "continuously formed" means that it is formed without forming a notch, a gap, or the like. The front ground connection part 557 overlaps at least a part of the two signal lines (both in this embodiment) when viewed from the fitting direction.

[0072] The conductive member 550 further has an isolation characteristic improving portion 570 (second ground connecting portion, second connecting portion) which is made of a separate member from the plate-like member including the above-mentioned rear ground connecting portion 555, the inclined portion 556, and the front ground connecting portion 557. In this manner, the isolation characteristic improving portion 570 is made of a separate member from other regions (front ground connecting portion 557) and the like in the second ground connecting portion.

[0073] The isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 extends between the signal contact members 520A and 520B in the extending direction of the signal contact members 520A and 520B, and is configured to prevent signal propagation between the signal contact members 520A and 520B. The isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 is a wall-shaped member having surfaces facing each of the signal contact members 520A and 520B. The isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 is disposed between the signal contact members 520A and 520B so as to block at least a part of the region between the signal contact members 520A and 520B.

[0074] 18(b), the isolation characteristic improving portion 570 may be disposed between the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B so as to block the entire area between the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B. As shown in Fig. 18(b) and Fig. 18(c), the area of the isolation characteristic improving portion 570 as viewed in the width direction is larger than the area of the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B as viewed in the width direction.

[0075] As shown in FIG. 18(b), the isolation characteristic improving portion 570 has a first portion 570x, a second portion 570y, a third portion 570z, and a fourth portion 570v. The second portion 570y is a portion extending along the second portion 520y of the signal contact members 520A and 520B, and is connected to a ground bar 581 electrically connected to the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B at its upper surface. The first portion 570x is a portion extending along the first portion 520x of the signal contact members 520A and 520B. At least a part of the upper end of the first portion 570x is in contact with the base plate 534a of the shell portion 534 (see FIG. 18(b)). The third portion 570z is a portion extending downward along the third portion 520z of the signal contact members 520A and 520B. The third portion 570z is connected to (in contact with) the contact portion 603 of the ground contact portion of the mating connector device 600. The fourth portion 570v is a portion that is continuous with the first portion 570x and extends downward, and is a portion that is press-fitted into the insulating housing 540.

[0076] Fig. 16 is a perspective view showing a mating connector device 600 to which the coaxial connector device 511 is connected. Fig. 17 is an exploded perspective view showing the mating connector device 600 of Fig. 16, viewed from above.

[0077] As shown in Figures 16 and 17, the mating connector device 600 has signal contact portions 604, 605 (first signal contact portion, second signal contact portion), an annular mating portion 630 and a contact portion 603 which are ground contact portions, and an insulating housing 640.

[0078] The insulating housing 640 supports the signal contact portions 604 and 605 and the annular fitting portion 630 and the contact portion 603, which are the ground contact portions, in a mutually insulated state. The signal contact portion 604 has a pair of contact portions 604a and 604b. The contact portions 604a and 604b are in contact with (connected to) the third portion 520z of the signal contact member 520A, with the third portion 520z sandwiched therebetween. The signal contact portion 605 has a pair of contact portions 605a and 605b. The contact portions 605a and 605b are in contact with (connected to) the third portion 520z of the signal contact member 520B, with the third portion 520z sandwiched therebetween.

[0079] The contact portion 603 has a pair of contact parts 603a and 603b. The contact parts 603a and 603b are in contact with (connected to) the third part 570z of the isolation characteristic improvement part 570 such that the third part 570z is sandwiched therebetween. The annular fitting part 630 is fitted and connected to the annular fitting part 531 of the ground contact member 530.

[0080] Fig. 18(a) is a plan view showing a state in which a coaxial connector device 511 is attached to one end of coaxial cables 12A, 12B and mechanically and electrically connected to a mating connector device 600. Fig. 18(b) is a cross-sectional view taken along line (b)-(b) in Fig. 18(a). Fig. 18(c) is a cross-sectional view taken along line (c)-(c) in Fig. 18(a). Fig. 18(d) is a cross-sectional view taken along line (d)-(d) in Fig. 18(a).

[0081] As shown in Figures 18(b) and 18(c), when the coaxial connector device 511 is connected to the mating connector device 600, the annular fitting portion 531 of the ground contact member 530 in the coaxial connector device 511 is fitted and connected to the annular fitting portion 630 of the ground contact portion of the mating connector device 600.

[0082] 18(c), in the mating connection state, the third portion 520z of the signal contact member 520B, in which the second portion 520y is connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B, contacts a pair of contact portions 604a, 604b of the signal contact portion 604 of the mating connector device 600 (the signal contact member 520A contacts a pair of contact portions 605a, 605b of the signal contact portion 605). As a result, the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cables 12A, 12B is electrically connected to a signal terminal (not shown) provided on the mounting surface of the circuit board through the signal contact members 520A, 520B of the coaxial connector device 511 and the signal contact portions 604, 605 of the mating connector device 600.

[0083] 18(c), in the mated and connected state, the rear ground connection portion 555 of the conductive member 550 contacts the fastening portion 534c of the ground contact member 530 and the ground bar 581 of the cable fixing portion 580, and the front ground connection portion 557 contacts the annular fitting portion 630, which is the ground contact portion of the mating connector device 600. The ground bar 581 is electrically connected to the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B. As a result, the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B is electrically connected to a ground potential portion (not shown) provided on the circuit board through the ground contact member 530 and the conductive member 550 of the coaxial connector device 511 and the annular fitting portion 630 of the mating connector device 600.

[0084] Furthermore, in the mated and connected state, as shown in FIG. 18(b), the isolation characteristic improvement part 570 connected to the ground bar 581 extends between the signal contact members 520A and 520B along the extending direction of the signal contact members 520A and 520B, and is disposed between the signal contact members 520A and 520B. A third part 570z of the isolation characteristic improvement part 570 contacts a pair of contact parts 603a, 603b in the contact part 603 of the ground contact part of the mating connector device 600. As a result, the isolation characteristic improvement part 570 is provided between the signal lines so as to prevent the signal from being transmitted between the signal lines. The isolation characteristic improvement part 570 is electrically connected to a ground potential part (not shown) provided on the circuit board.

[0085] Next, a method of assembling the coaxial connector device 511 will be described with reference to Figures 19 and 20. Figures 19(a) to (d) are diagrams explaining the method of assembling the coaxial connector device 511. Figures 20(a) and (b) are diagrams explaining the method of assembling the coaxial connector device 511, and show steps following Figure 19(d).

[0086] In the first step, as shown in FIG. 19(a), a conductive member 550, an insulating housing 540 in which signal contact members 520A and 520B are integrally molded, and an isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 are prepared, and a connection portion 559 of the conductive member 550 is inserted into an insertion port 549 of the insulating housing 540 and the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 is fixed to a recess 546 (see FIG. 13) of the insulating housing 540, thereby integrating the conductive member 550 etc. with the insulating housing 540 as shown in FIG. 19(b).

[0087] 19(c), an insulating housing 540 integrated with a conductive member 550 and the like is assembled to the ground contact member 530. Specifically, the insulating housing 540 is assembled to the ground contact member 530 such that the protrusion 591 of the insulating housing 540 fits into the recesses 535x of the pair of arms 535, 535 (see FIG. 19(d)).

[0088] Next, as shown in FIG. 20(a), the coaxial connector device 511 is attached to one end of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B. When attaching, the signal contact member 520A is connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A, and the signal contact member 520B is connected to the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B. When attaching, the upper ground bar 581 is connected to the isolation characteristic improvement part 570. Thereafter, the shell part 534 of the ground contact member 530, which is in the upright position, is made to take the bent position, and further, the fastening parts 534b and 534c are bent, so that the state in which the coaxial connector device 511 is attached to one end of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B is firmly maintained as shown in FIG. 20(b). After the fastening parts 534b and 534c are bent, the notch 558 and the through part 536 are filled with solder.

[0089] Next, the function and effect of the coaxial connector device 511 will be described.

[0090] In the coaxial connector device 511, the shell portion 534 of the ground contact member 530 may have a first fixing portion 538 and a second fixing portion 539 as barrel portions that hold the coaxial cables 12A and 12B, and the conductive member 550 may be connected to the first fixing portion 538 and the second fixing portion 539. As described above, the first fixing portion 538 and the second fixing portion 539 do not directly fasten the coaxial cables 12A and 12B, but hold them so as to cover the cable fixing portion 580, so that the overlapping portion between the signal line and the conductive member 550 can be suitably formed.

[0091] The front ground connection portion 557 of the conductive member 550 is connected to the annular fitting portion 630 and is formed continuously in the width direction, which is the arrangement direction of the signal contact members 520A and 520B, and may overlap at least a part of the two signal lines when viewed from the fitting direction. In this way, the front ground connection portion 557 is connected to the part (annular fitting portion 630) related to the fitting in the ground contact portion of the mating connector device 600, so that the contact point can be reliably set to ground potential when mated with the mating connector device 600. And, the front ground connection portion 557, which is formed continuously without notches, gaps, etc., overlaps at least a part of the two signal lines, so that the signals of the two signal lines can be more appropriately suppressed from propagating to the outside.

[0092] An opening 595 is formed in the annular fitting portion 630, and the front ground connection portion 557 may be disposed in the opening 595. In this manner, for example, by providing the front ground connection portion 557, which is a conductive member, in the opening 595 that is inevitably formed during manufacturing, the opening 595 is effectively blocked by the front ground connection portion 557 that does not have a notch, gap, or the like, and it is possible to effectively prevent a signal (high frequency signal) of the signal line from leaking to the outside through the opening 595.

[0093] The isolation characteristic improving portion 570 may be disposed between the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B so as to block at least a part of the region between the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B. In this manner, the isolation characteristic improving portion 570 is disposed so as to block the region between the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B, so that the propagation of signals between the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B is more effectively suppressed. This can further improve the isolation characteristics.

[0094] The isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 may extend along the extending direction of the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B. This allows the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 to effectively block the region between the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B, thereby further improving the above-mentioned isolation characteristics.

[0095] The isolation characteristic improving portion 570 may be disposed between the signal contact members 520A and 520B so as to block the entire area between the signal contact members 520A and 520B. In this manner, the area between the signal contact members is completely blocked by the isolation characteristic improving portion 570, so that the above-mentioned isolation characteristics can be further improved.

[0096] The area of the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 as viewed in the width direction, which is the arrangement direction of the signal contact members 520A and 520B, may be larger than the area of the signal contact members 520A and 520B as viewed in the arrangement direction. In this manner, by increasing the area of the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570, the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 more effectively suppresses the propagation of signals between the signal contact members. This can further improve the isolation characteristics.

[0097] The isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 may be made of a material different from other regions in the second ground connection portion. This increases the degree of freedom in the shape, material, and layout of the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570, and the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 with its shape, material, and layout appropriately set can more effectively suppress signal propagation between the signal contact members. This can further improve the isolation characteristics.

[0098] The isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 may be connected to a ground bar 581 electrically connected to the outer conductor 15 of the coaxial cables 12A and 12B. As a result, like the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12A and the central conductor 13 of the coaxial cable 12B adjacent to each other with the outer conductor 15 in between, the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B are adjacent to each other with the isolation characteristic improvement portion 570 electrically connected to the outer conductor 15 via the ground bar 581 in between, so that, like the adjacent coaxial cables 12A and 12B, it is possible to effectively suppress the propagation of signals between the signal contact member 520A and the signal contact member 520B.
