Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a continuous paper feed and cut device mounted on a printer, and more particularly to a printing system and its continuous paper feed and cut device. [Background technology]

[0002] Dot matrix printers mainly use a set of small needles to print, and the needles corresponding to the dots can hit the copy paper accurately to achieve a duplication effect. Therefore, continuous forms (e.g. continuous report forms) such as invoices, shipping instructions, receipts, and prescriptions are often printed by dot matrix printers. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0003] However, dot matrix printers have drawbacks such as being noisy, generally only capable of monochrome printing, and having a resolution of only about 300 dpi, making users find them cumbersome to operate. Therefore, when the copying function for continuous paper is not required, how to use laser printers commonly found in offices to perform continuous printing is an important issue for the industry.

[0004] In view of the above problems, the inventors of the present application have made an effort to research and develop the above-mentioned conventional techniques, and it is an object of the present invention to apply the results of such research to solve the above-mentioned problems. [Means for solving the problem]

[0005] The present invention provides a printing system and its continuous paper supply and cutting device. By removably attaching the continuous paper supply and cutting device to the printer's paper feed inlet, the printer can be equipped with functions such as printing, paper cutting, and cutting paper while printing.

[0006] In an embodiment of the present invention, the present invention provides a printing system for continuous paper, the printing system comprising: a printer having a paper feed port and capable of generating printing information; and a continuous paper feed and cutter device detachably connected to the printer and disposed corresponding to the paper feed port, the continuous paper feed and cutter device comprising: a paper picking module for transporting the continuous paper to the paper feed port, a buffer module disposed between the paper feed port and the paper picking module for guiding the continuous paper to move in a curved shape to the paper feed port, a cutting mechanism disposed between the paper picking module and the buffer module for cutting the continuous paper, and a processing unit electrically connected to the printer and the cutting mechanism for receiving and calculating the printing information, and controlling the cutting mechanism to cut the continuous paper.

[0007] In an embodiment of the present invention, the present invention provides a continuous paper feed and cutter for continuous paper, which is detachably connected to a paper feed port of a printer, the continuous paper feed and cutter comprising: a paper picking module for transporting the continuous paper to the paper feed port, a buffer module installed between the paper feed port and the paper picking module for guiding the continuous paper so that it moves in a curved shape to the paper feed port, a cutting mechanism installed between the paper picking module and the buffer module for cutting the continuous paper, and a processing unit electrically connected to the cutting mechanism for controlling the cutting mechanism to cut the continuous paper. Effect of the Invention

[0008] According to the above-mentioned configuration, the continuous paper feed and cutter of the present invention can be added to the paper feed port of a printer to provide the printer with functions such as printing, paper cutting, and cutting paper while printing. Furthermore, the automatic paper cutting operation of the continuous paper feed and cutter not only allows the user to conveniently remove printed paper, but also reduces mechanical wear caused by a large amount of blank continuous paper remaining inside the printer. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0009] [Figure 1] 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a continuous paper supplying and cutting device according to an embodiment of the present invention. [Diagram 2] 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a printing system according to an embodiment of the present invention. [Diagram 3] 4 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a continuous paper supplying and cutting device according to another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0010] Hereinafter, the details and technical contents of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. However, the drawings are for the purpose of explanation only and are not intended to limit the present invention.

[0011] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the present invention provides a printing system for continuous paper (in this example, continuous report paper 100) and a continuous paper feed and cutter for the same. The continuous report paper 100 has a plurality of holes 101 formed therein. The printing system 10 mainly includes a printer 1 and a continuous paper feed and cutter 2. The continuous paper feed and cutter 2 mainly includes a paper picking module 22, a buffer module 24, a cutting mechanism 26, and a processing unit.

[0012] As shown in FIG. 2, the printer 1 has a paper feed port 11 and a paper feed mechanism 12 disposed in correspondence with the paper feed port 11. The paper feed mechanism 12 is for feeding paper into the paper feed port 11 and includes a paper feed wheel (not shown) and a drive gear set (not shown). The drive gear set (not shown) drives the paper feed wheel (not shown) to rotate. When the paper feed wheel (not shown) rotates, the paper is driven to enter the interior of the printer 1 from the paper feed port 11. The drive gear set (not shown) includes an interlocking gear 121. Note that the printer 1 in this embodiment is a laser printer, but is not limited to this.

[0013] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the continuous paper feed and cutter 2 further includes a portable carrier 21. The paper feed port 11 of the printer 1 is equipped with an openable and closable manual feed tray 200 that is aligned with the paper feed port 11. The user first places the portable carrier 21 on the manual feed tray 200, and then attaches the portable carrier 21 to the paper feed port 11 of the printer 1. The portable carrier 21 is detachably connected to the printer 1. In other words, the portable carrier 21 can be attached to or detached from the printer 1, and therefore the continuous paper feed and cutter 2 is detachably connected to the printer 1, and is disposed in correspondence with the paper feed port 11.

[0014] 1 and 2, the paper picking module 22 is for transporting the continuous report paper 100 to the paper feed port 11, and includes a driving wheel 221, a driven wheel 222, and an endless belt 223 that is wound around the driving wheel 221 and the driven wheel 222 and rotates together with the driving wheel 221. The endless belt 223 has a plurality of protrusions (cylindrical protrusions 2231 in this example), and the plurality of cylindrical protrusions 2231 pass through a plurality of holes 101 provided in the continuous report paper 100. The endless belt 223 is a chain or a leather belt, but is not limited thereto.

[0015] Moreover, the paper picking module 22 further includes a transmission mechanism 224. The transmission mechanism 224 has an electromagnetic clutch 2241 having one end connected to the drive wheel 221 to rotate the drive wheel 221 and the other end capable of meshing with the interlocking gear 121. The electromagnetic clutch 2241 includes a drive member 2245 and a driven member 2246. The drive member 2245 and the driven member 2246 are connected or separated via an electromagnetic mechanical connector (not shown). The drive member 2245 meshes with the interlocking gear 121 and rotates together with the interlocking gear 121.

[0016] Next, a more detailed description will be given. The transmission mechanism 224 includes an electromagnetic clutch 2241, a driven wheel 2242, a first caterpillar 2243, and a second caterpillar 2244. The first caterpillar 2243 is wound around a driven member 2246 and the driven wheel 2242, and rotates together with the driven member 2246. The second caterpillar 2244 is wound around the driven wheel 2242 and the driving wheel 221, and rotates together with the driven wheel 2242. The first caterpillar 2243 and the second caterpillar 2244 are, but are not limited to, a chain or a leather belt.

[0017] Furthermore, when the driving member 2245 and the driven member 2246 are coupled together, the driving member 2245 rotates the driven member 2246, which then rotates the first caterpillar 2243 and the driven wheel 2242, which in turn rotates the second caterpillar 2244 and the driving wheel 221, and finally the driving wheel 221 rotates the endless belt 223 and the driven wheel 222. At this time, the endless belt 223 can continuously move the continuous report paper 100 to the paper feed port 11 of the printer 1, since the multiple cylindrical projections 2231 penetrate the multiple holes 101. When the driving member 2245 is separated from the driven member 2246, the driving member 2245 does not rotate the driven member 2246.

[0018] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the buffer module 24 is installed between the paper feed port 11 and the paper picking module 22, and serves to guide the continuous report paper 100 so that it moves in a curved manner to the paper feed port 11. The buffer module 24 includes an arc-shaped guide member (in this example, an arc-shaped guide plate 241) and a paper pressing unit 25. The arc-shaped guide plate 241 is provided between the paper feed port 11 and the paper picking module 22, and is formed into a plate having a U-shaped cross section. Therefore, the continuous report paper 100 first curves at a predetermined curvature along the arc-shaped guide plate 241 before moving to the paper feed port 11.

[0019] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the paper pressing unit 25 is located above the arc-shaped guide plate 241 and serves to press the continuous report paper 100. The paper pressing unit 25 includes a fixed member (in this example, a fixed base) 251, a pressing member (in this example, a pressing roller 252), and a biasing member (in this example, a spring 253). The fixed base 251 is located above the arc-shaped guide plate 241. The pressing roller 252 is located between the arc-shaped guide plate 241 and the fixed base 251. The spring 253 is elastically supported between the fixed base 251 and the pressing roller 252, and drives the pressing roller 252 to cause the pressing roller 252 to press the continuous report paper 100.

[0020] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the cutting mechanism 26 is installed between the paper picking module 22 and the buffer module 24, and is for cutting the continuous report paper 100. The cutting mechanism 26 in this embodiment includes an upper cutter 261 and a lower cutter 262. The upper cutter 261 and the lower cutter 262 are disposed above and below the continuous report paper 100, respectively, and cut the continuous report paper 100 together. However, this is not limited thereto, and the cutting mechanism 26 may include only the upper cutter 261, and the upper cutter 261 may cut the continuous report paper 100 from top to bottom.

[0021] 1 and 2, the continuous paper supply and cutting device 2 further includes a paper fixing wheel 23. The paper fixing wheel 23 is installed between the buffer module 24 and the cutting mechanism 26, and is for clamping the continuous report paper 100. To explain in detail, the paper fixing wheel 23 includes an upper roller 231 and a lower roller 232 that are respectively disposed above and below the continuous report paper 100 and collectively clamp the continuous report paper 100.

[0022] In addition, the processing unit (not shown) is electrically connected to the printer 1, the cutting mechanism 26, and the electromagnetic clutch 2241. When the processing unit (not shown) receives and calculates the printing information, it controls the coupling or decoupling of the driving member 2245 and the driven member 2246, and controls the cutting mechanism 26 to cut the continuous report paper 100.

[0023] The processing unit (not shown) can receive print information from the printer 1 via a connector or wirelessly. The processing unit (not shown) may be attached to the cutting mechanism 26 and the electromagnetic clutch 2241, or may control the cutting mechanism 26 and the electromagnetic clutch 2241 via a remote connection.

[0024] As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the continuous paper feed and cutter device 2 further includes a paper detection sensor 27. The paper detection sensor 27 is installed between the paper fixing wheel 23 and the buffer module 24. The paper detection sensor 27 generates a paper detection signal when it detects the continuous report paper 100. When a processing unit (not shown) receives and calculates the paper detection signal, it controls the cutting mechanism 26 to cut the continuous report paper 100.

[0025] In addition, the aforementioned paper picking module 22, paper fixing wheel 23, arc-shaped guide plate 241, paper pressing unit 25, cutting mechanism 26, and paper detection sensor 27 are all stored within the portable carrier 21, and the arc-shaped guide plate 241 and fixed base 251 are molded by extending from the portable carrier 21.

[0026] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the printing system 10 and the continuous paper supplying and cutting device 2 of this embodiment are used as follows.

[0027] When one end of the continuous report paper 100 passes through the paper fixing wheel 23, the processing unit (not shown) receives printing information that printing is to start, and controls the driving member 2245 to engage with the driven member 2246. This allows the interlocking gear 121 and the driving member 2245 to rotate the driven member 2246. When the paper picking module 22 transports the continuous report paper 100 to the arc-shaped guide plate 241, the continuous report paper 100 first curves at a predetermined curvature along the shape of the arc-shaped guide plate 241 and then moves to the paper feed port 11. Finally, the continuous report paper 100 enters the printer 1 and is printed by the printer 1.

[0028] Thereafter, the printer 1 and a processing unit (not shown) calculate the required printing length of the continuous report paper 100 based on the printed material when the paper detection sensor 27 detects the leading edge of the continuous report paper 100 .

[0029] Then, when the paper detection sensor 27 detects that the length of the conveyed continuous report paper 100 has reached the printing length, or when the processing unit (not shown) calculates that the length of the conveyed continuous report paper 100 has reached the printing length, the processing unit (not shown) controls the cutting mechanism 26 to cut the continuous report paper 100, and at the same time controls the driving member 2245 to separate it from the driven member 2246. Then, the continuous paper supply and cutting device 2 stops conveying the continuous report paper 100. Even if the continuous paper supply and cutting device 2 stops conveying the continuous report paper 100, the paper feed mechanism 12 continues to feed the continuous report paper 100 into the paper feed opening 11 until the printer 1 completes printing the print material.

[0030] As shown in FIG. 2, even if the continuous paper supply / cutting device 2 stops conveying the continuous report paper 100, if the paper feed mechanism 12 still feeds the continuous report paper 100 into the paper feed port 11, the paper feed mechanism 12 applies a large tension to the continuous report paper 100. As a result, the continuous report paper 100 is pulled and tries to move away from the arc-shaped guide plate 241, but at this time, since the paper pressing unit 25 has a spring 253, it is possible to prevent the continuous report paper 100 from shifting or being pulled by continuously pressing the continuous report paper 100 with a cushioning force. In other words, even if the continuous report paper 100 is cut while being printed, paper pulling (paper pulling) can be suppressed. As a result, problems such as printing errors or print defects caused by paper pulling can be effectively prevented.

[0031] After passing through the cutting mechanism 26, the continuous report paper 100 enters between the upper roller 231 and the lower roller 232. At this time, the position of the continuous report paper 100 is restricted by the upper roller 231 and the lower roller 232. This makes it possible to prevent the continuous report paper 100 from failing to be cut due to insufficient tension when the continuous report paper 100 is too thin or too soft. The upper cutter 261 and the lower cutter 262 then work together to cut out the continuous report paper 100 to a predetermined length.

[0032] Thus, by providing the continuous paper feed and cutter 2 of this embodiment at the paper feed port 11 of the printer 1, the printer 1 can be equipped with functions such as printing, paper cutting, and cutting paper while printing. Furthermore, the automatic paper cutting operation of the continuous paper feed and cutter 2 not only allows the user to conveniently remove printed reports, but also reduces mechanical wear caused by a large amount of unprinted, blank continuous report paper 100 remaining inside the printer 1.

[0033] In addition, the paper picking module 22 of this embodiment operates in a manner in which, when the electromagnetic clutch 2241 is energized, the driving member 2245 meshes with the interlocking gear 121 and rotates together with the interlocking gear 121, thereby making it possible to eliminate the need for the conventional stepping motor that served as the power source for paper picking by the paper picking module 22.

[0034] Furthermore, since the spring 253 of the paper pressing unit 25 is elastically supported between the fixed base 251 and the pressing roller 252, the pressing roller 252 can be driven to press the continuous report paper 100. This allows the printer 1 to continue printing and paper feeding. However, at the moment when the paper picking module 22 stops transporting and cutting the continuous report paper 100, the horizontal rotation of the pressing roller 252 and the vertical expansion and contraction of the spring 253 are used to cushion the movement, thereby preventing the continuous report paper 100 from being pulled. Therefore, the continuous paper supply and cutting device 2 has the advantage of being able to stably transport and cut the continuous report paper 100.

[0035] Fig. 3 shows another embodiment of the paper picking module 22 in this embodiment. The embodiment shown in Fig. 3 has the same basic configuration as the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, but differs from the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 in that the paper picking module 22 further includes a stepping motor 225 that is connected to the drive wheel 221 and drives the drive wheel 221 to rotate. This will be described in more detail below.

[0036] Unlike the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, this embodiment does not operate in a manner in which, when the electromagnetic clutch 2241 is energized, the driving member 2245 engages with the interlocking gear 121 and rotates together with the interlocking gear 121, but rather the stepping motor 225 serves as the power source for paper picking by the paper picking module 22.

[0037] Furthermore, the processing unit (not shown) is electrically connected to the stepping motor 225 and controls the rotation speed of the stepping motor 225 when it receives print information.

[0038] Therefore, since the printing system and its continuous paper supply and cutting device of the present invention have no similar products or public uses yet, and have industrial applicability, novelty and inventive step, and fully meet the requirements for a patent application, in order to protect the inventor's rights, a patent application is filed in accordance with the Patent Act.
