Abstract

In cab-over vehicles, when removing existing seats and installing new ones, this mechanism prevents the height of the new passenger seat from increasing. Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a replacement engine cover that is replaced after removing an existing engine cover that at least covers an engine located directly below the passenger seat in a cab-over vehicle.

Background Art

[0002] So-called cab-over vehicles, in which a cab (driver's seat) is provided above the engine, are particularly applied to medium-sized and large-sized vehicles such as trucks and buses. By adopting a structure in which the driver's seat is arranged above the engine, a wide loading platform can be obtained.

[0003] In recent years, such cab-over vehicles have also been modified into camper vans. In the process of such modification, there has been an increase, particularly in recent years, in cases where the existing seats provided in the driver's seat and the passenger seat are replaced with new seats of a preferred type that are excellent in sitting comfort.

[0004] Particularly, in the case of such new seats, there is an increasing tendency to adopt so-called gaming chairs in which the seat part is composed of a thick cushion to further improve sitting comfort. Since such new seats made of gaming chairs are very large, simply removing the existing seats and replacing them with new seats will cause the seat height of the new seat on the passenger seat side to be higher than that on the driver's seat side. Just the second covering plate 12 and the inclined plate 13 are configured to enclose the engine 60.

Therefore, the engine cover 3 on the passenger side is composed of a first covering plate 11, a second covering plate 12, and an inclined plate 13, as described above, and the second covering plate 12 needs to be extended further towards the passenger side to cover the engine 60. In this engine cover 3 located directly below the passenger seat, the second covering plate 12 is extended far toward the passenger side, and the inclined plate 13 slopes downward from its extended end toward the first covering plate 11.

[0007] The existing seat, before removal, is small and narrow, so it fits on the first covering plate 11 and can be installed without deviating from it. However, when installing a new seat directly on the engine cover 3 after removing the existing seat, the new seat is large and wide, so it cannot fit on the first covering plate 11 due to its size. Therefore, the bottom plate of the new seat had to be placed on the second covering plate 12.
