1. A recording device mounted on a vehicle, comprising: an imaging unit for imaging the area around the vehicle; an input unit including a video provision instruction button that accepts operation by the occupants of the vehicle; a storage unit for storing the video captured by the imaging unit as recording data in a storage device; a communication unit for communicating with an external information provision device; and a control unit that, in response to the pressing of the video provision instruction button, causes the recording data captured by the imaging unit and stored in the storage device during a predetermined period of time from the time of pressing to be sent to the information provision device via communication by the communication unit.
2. An information providing device comprising: a recording data collection unit that collects recording data from a recording device according to claim 1; a message information collection unit that collects message information posted to a social networking service and related to the recording data based on the date and time information and location information included in the recording data, wherein the recording data includes video, date and time information indicating the date and time the video was captured, and location information indicating the location of the place where the video was captured; a determination unit that determines map attributes for the recording data, which indicate application-specific maps to which the recording data is mapped, based on words included in the message information related to the recording data; a storage unit that stores the recording data and the determined map attributes in association; a reception unit that receives a request for the provision of the recording data and which includes the map attributes; and a provision unit that, in response to receiving the request, obtains the recording data associated with the map attributes included in the request from the storage unit and provides it to the requester.

An information provision method comprising: a recording data collection step of collecting recording data including video footage, date and time information indicating the date and time the video was captured, and location information indicating the location of the place where the video was captured; a message information collection step of collecting message information posted to a social networking service that relates to the recording data, based on the date and time information and location information included in the recording data; a determination step of determining map attributes for the recording data that indicate a map for a specific purpose to which the recording data is mapped, based on words included in the message information related to the recording data; a storage step of storing the recording data and the determined map attributes in association; a reception step of receiving a request for the provision of the recording data that includes the map attributes; and a provision step of providing the recording data associated with the map attributes included in the request to the requester of the request in response to the acceptance of the request.
